I'm having problems understanding this so please bear with me, and perhaps you can offer me your insight.
I find that often, people who are liberators or heroes often go against their nature when they come into power, and use the people they had helped so much.
I'm not talking about megalomaniacs who continue to be megalomaniacs once they lose power, but there seems to be some sort of on/off switch on the idealism once power is attained on people such as Arafat, Castro, hell, even the ex-mayor of Montreal, Jean Drapeau who went from crusading idealist cleaning up a corrupt city to corrupt despot.
