I'MMA LET YOU FINISH

FRIST

WOW, I actually did it again, FRIST! ONee day I got 2. Too bad I din't have time to use my real, clever name, but the default will do...

GravatarKrugman on CSPAN2

GravatarWelcome to Bush world.

Where the US becomes a laughingstock, everyday!

GravatarI thought putting crazy people in charge WAS our foreign policy.

GravatarPost-election, I was pointing out that Bush will probably continue the pattern of incompentence and ideologically based appointments. That so many members of his cabinet will resign and all new people will come in and this will be a BIG improvement.

I said, the people he has not are his first string, the replacements will be the second stringers.

Time will tell, but I don't see how Bush is going to magically turn into a different person and I don't see how hiring more AEI ideologues is going to improve tghe mess the current batch of AEI ideologues made out of my country.

Gravatarshe has ALOT of teeth

GravatarApparently a job at American Enterprise and a clip of yourself calling Michael Moore a traitor and a supporter of Al-Queda is all you need to get a job at the White House. They are really getting lax, I remember when you had to denounce dancing and cover the statue of justice with a bedsheet to get in the door!

GravatarAnd see the twin pieces in WaPO (the better one) and NYT on resignations at CIA after Goss's weasels diss them to death. What Agency-building geniuses they are!!!

GravatarUNLESS THE DEMS BUY CNN BEFORE REPUBS
do they are screwed. I heard a rumor a few weeks back that some big-name repubs wanted to make a move on CNN. Imagine if repubs outright owned both CNN and FOX.

GravatarRemember how the Bush I middle east ambasador gave the nod to Saddam that he could take an inch of Kuwait and that resulted in his taking the whole thing?

How badly do you think they will fuck up this time? Ethnic cleansing of Palestine? Nuking Iran? How about Israel making a move on Iran, causing Syria, Jordan, and Lebanon to move in on three fronts.

Particularly if the US is perceived as weak after inflation starts to really cook and Iraq drags us down or we cut and run after the "elections".

By then, we will all be goose-stepping under black W's and eating beans and rice 10 times a week.

-

GravatarWell, our disasterous foreign policy could use a little comic relief...

But why not Jerry Lewis? He's very funny, and also adored by the French.

Gravatarshe has ALOT of teeth

bad teeth, or as i have said before. white trash, blond bimbo with a couple of degrees.

GravatarShe used to work for the other messia Moon, before hitching up with w.

What will God tell Pat Robertson about this unholy alliance?

GravatarPeople quittung agencies like the CIA is a Bad Thing. It means the objective, reality-based people are leaving, and will be replaced with idealogues.

Once Bush has purged the bureaucrats through attrition in this manner, there will be no apolitical element of our government.

GravatarThe crazy just keeps on coming. Guess why they hate, hate, hate Michael Moore so much? Because he's effective, he makes them look ridiculous, and he tells the truth about them.

GravatarHecate

In some respects, Moore is the modern day version of Tom Paine. A bit dumpier and coarse, but heck they didn't have Baseball Caps back then either.

GravatarI was watching the video and had the sound down low since I was sitting across from my wife and she was reading the morning paper.
Her comment, "why are you listening to Rush Limbugh." Wolf may not sound exactly like Rush but the words and sentiments coming out of their mouths are in lock step.

GravatarPLetka gives trailer trash a bad name.

GravatarEkCenTrik,

I agree; Moore is a lot like Tom Paine. He really scares the crap out of them. The one thing that they truly can't stand is to be made to look ridiculous.

GravatarHecate

One thing I keep running into, the folks who scream the most about Moore, never saw the movie, refused to see it.

Second, I have never seen a honest discounting of the film. I think he made 1 or 2 minor errors, but that was it. They always bang on him being overweight, grundgey and rude.

Until someone does a point by point rebuttal that doesn't fall into trash talking, the movie still stands. They cannot run away from it.

GravatarEkCenTrik,

I'm impressed by the number of trolls who've shown up to tell us that Moore lost the race for Kerry. When my enemy tries to give me advice about which tactics I should stop using, I pay attention. And then I use those tactics even more because I figure those are the ones that are hurting him the most. They can't discredit Moore's movie so they, as you note, focus on how he looks and dresses. Don't like Kerry cuz he's too elite and don't like Moore cuz he's too lower-middle-class. Kind of hard to please these guys, isn't it?

GravatarDon't blame me - I voted for the one with a brain.

GravatarWolf sure did give her a nice setup. I can't wait till 9/11 The Sequel™. Mike knows he can't hold back this time.

GravatarHecate

Absolutely.

One thing I keep ponging back and forth in my head is the simple fact that the trash talk is more alluring than the facts. This is why Newsweek and Time generally are not sold at the supermarket checkout counters and the Enquirer is. Moore has the handle there somehow. He makes that move across the net to making fact more interesting and oooh scandalous. We should all be thinking about that.

GravatarI think Moore/Paine is a good comparision, except that Moore washes more.

GravatarCaSRON'S defeat

" Idon't remember when I first realized that my campaign for United States Senate was in trouble. But one moment stands out. I was in Sallisaw, Oklahoma, home of the annual Grapes of Wrath Festival, in which locals celebrate John Steinbeck's fictional Joad family and their mythical journey from eastern Oklahoma to California. It was a Sunday morning, one week before the third anniversary of the September 11 terrorist attacks, and I had been invited by the pastor of a local Baptist church to discuss the topic: "How Would Jesus Vote?" Both my opponent in the Senate race, Tom Coburn, and I had been invited to what was more or less an interview before the pastor's congregation. I would go first, then Coburn would speak the following Sunday, and a right-wing talk-radio host--no friend of mine, to be sure--would conclude the three-week inquiry into how Jesus would want us to cast our ballots.

Now, I must confess: My own view is that Jesus would probably not vote at all, given the organized corruption that passes for modern American politics. But the idea that Christ Himself might sit out the 2004 election was apparently not under consideration, so I accepted the invitation--much to the pastor's avowed surprise. As an active Baptist who grew up in the Baptist church, I had no illusions that most of my co-religionists were ardent Democrats, but I rarely turned down any chance to make the case for my own candidacy and that of my fellow party members. After all, wasn't Daniel blessed for braving the lion's den? "

Gravatargeegirl

It is offcial, you got my first laugh of the day.

Gravataroverweight, grundgey and rude.

Vs. Big Pharm, who is overwieght, addicted to narcotics, and really rude.

GravatarDoes the fact that Pletka is bisexual harm her candidacy for the office as head of Middle Eastern affairs?

GravatarDark Avenger
Just to be sure it is understood. Just because Moore does not fit the picture of folks who want a nice palatable pundit, Moore is at this point a valid and forthright distributor of facts. His spin is not polite and definitely manipulative. And that is to my thinking needed. Damn, the horror of it all, to think the man has offended someone into at least, gasp, thinking for themselves.
He is a funny looking guy who would probably spill red wine on the white table cloth when invited in for dinner. But we probably wouldn't notice until long after he left.

GravatarOne of the things that I thought was most revealing in F9/11 was when Moore was trying to talk to Congressmen about their kids not being in the military. It was downright funny how many of them ran from him.

Oh yea, they are scared of Moore. That's why the trolls are all over him.

GravatarShe is hard to take.

What a profound statement she made in response to the softball set-up Blitzer gave her. He was even taken back by the depth and profoundness of her remark. NOT.

You know they have to be scraping the bottom of the barrel to find new victims. Anyone with any brains is bailing out and no one with any smarts is going to get on that ship of fools.

With that mouth full of teeth, I find myself wondering how she was able to suck or blow her way into the job?

Gravataras if we needed more proof the lunatics ARE running the asylum.

GravatarMM can spill red wine on my white tablecloth anytime. He'd make a pretty great dinner companion. I love people who can tell good stories and he's essentially a very good storyteller. I'm reminded of Mureil Ruckheyser's (sp?) line that the world is made of stories, not of atoms.

Gravatarpletka has been stricken with a permanent case of blower's cramp due to being such a blowhard.

GravatarManipulative? Michael Moore is "fair and balanced". At least as those words are understood when used as a tag line for reporting "the news".

GravatarWith that mouth full of teeth, I find myself wondering how she was able to suck or blow her way into the job?

Remember what a bunch of callous, dead to the heart, insensitive, unfeeling men that are handing out the jobs.

GravatarKrugman on CSPAN2
kali yuga

You want to know how crazy it's going to get? Brian Lamb had some Cato Institute guy on yesterday morning. Ol' Brian seems to be pushing for the destruction of Social Security pretty hard these days. Probably realize that if Little Georgie doesn't turn all that money over to the insurance companies this time it's never going to happen. There is nothing the Republicans hate more than Social Security, they hate it more than Head Start or passanger rail.

If Brian isn't getting his orders from Bushco it's only because they know they can count on him.

GravatarSomeone should fire an RPG through Lamb's window.

GravatarI heard a rumor a few weeks back that some big-name repubs wanted to make a move on CNN. Imagine if repubs outright owned both CNN and FOX. Live Free or Die
You mean they don't now? C'mon, get real.

GravatarDid anyone hear when Rather, Jennings and Brokaw had their summint on the news media. Some woman asked how our media could be dominated by the swift vets (proven liars) for three weeks. People were applauding like crazy. Rather said it was a mistake. But Brokaw said the flip side was Moore! What an ass.

Daniel Pletka is an idiot. I can't believe she is a VP at AEI. WTF?

GravatarGreat article!!!

The United States’ de-Baathification program fuelled the insurgency. Is it too late for Bush to change course? Issue of 2004-11-15

GravatarThat Pletka cunt is as delusional as Rummy, if that is at all possible.

GravatarHey Atrios!

I hear the Christian Jihad is threatening to confront Santorum (that frothy mixture) with a "real conservative" such as Toomey in the '06 primary. Wouldn't that open the door for a "moderate Republican" to steal the nomination in a three way split?

Say...do you know anyone in PA with a good grasp of economic issues and a network of supporters? Hmmmmmm?

GravatarThe name stealer is around this AM, posting as me and using all my information. That makes it harder to tell when it is really me and when it isn't.

If something offensive is posted with my name and info on it, please bear in mind that it may not be me.

I'm taking serious steps to stop this, but in the meantime, I'd appreciate it if y'all would be aware of it.

GravatarI don't really get some people's reactions to Michael Moore. I mean people on the left. Personally, I think MM is great. He's smart, passionate, and funny as hell. I think we could do with a few hundred more just like him.

GravatarDanielle Pletka is our generation's Rula Lenska

GravatarTena;

It's easy to tell the difference. You see, the imposter is a tiny, illiterate coward and it oozes through his posts.

GravatarOver the past few months, I've seen a lot of speculation by paleocons (for example Justin Raimondo at Antiwar.Com) that if Bush won, the Iraq experience would cause him to replace the neocons around Wolfowitz with Reaganites or realists like Brent Scowcroft.

I guess this puts the kibosh on those hopes. An AEI neocon pimping for Israel--shudder.

How long till Judith fucking Miller gets an ambassadorship?

GravatarI've seen Pleska a few times on TV. I was amazed how far right and irrational she was. She might be bisexual, but I'll bet she's never been with man or woman.

GravatarDanielle Pletka reminds me of one of those mothers at school who hears of a case of viral menengitis in a school three thousand miles away, so she makes the decision then and there to home school her child for the next ten years and thinks that is both the best and only solution for the situation...oh and it's your only option, too.

The extremist crazy person. Every school board has one. Now that serve at the administration level.

Would someone please turn the filter back on?

Thank you.

Gravatar mouth full of teeth

And an overbite. Probably sucked her thumb until age 12.

Gravatarthe last time i saw her, she was still defending chalabi. how can somebody like that retain any credibility?

omg she's going to state? after bad mouthing them so badly in the past? oh, they'll love that.

GravatarIf Pletka goes to state, then her editorial takes on new meaning.

US Wounded Itself when it Betrayed Chalabi by Danielle Pletka

Then State Department officials accused his organization of playing loose
with U.S. money. In every instance he was exonerated by the department's own
inspector general.

The latest charges have been dizzying. The Iraqi National Congress has been
accused of providing bad intelligence on weapons of mass destruction. INC
officials in Iraq are being investigated for a variety of crimes. Chalabi
himself, according to unnamed sources, was supposedly obstructing an
investigation of the United Nations oil-for-food program. And now he is
accused of spying for Iran.

But the charges don't ring true. Wasn't Chalabi, as chairman of the Iraqi
Governing Council's finance committee, the moving force behind the
oil-for-food investigation?

GravatarI blame Blitzer for this more than Pletka. He really and deliberately set her up to slam Moore. She accepted the opportunity but then stopped - apparently she wasn't interested in pursuing that any further.

GravatarSchadenfreude does not give much solace here. A brownshirt is a brownshirt is a brownshirt. Competence is not a job requirement for random acts of violence, only enthusiasm.

GravatarWolf Blitzer has been a real problem for a while. He likes to play the moderate nonpartisan but he's always pitching softballs to hateful cranks like Pletka. I would love to see some blogosphere effort to make sure that he's honest about his own biases.

GravatarI saw Blitzer interviewing some British reporter/correspondent about the Blair/Bush visit. She patiently explained that while Bush made nice noises, much of the UK wanted to see something to prove that it isn't a one-way relationship.

Wolf then said that maybe Blair got secret concessions from Bush. The woman said that would be nice, but still not something Blair could show his people.

Wolf then nodded and said something like, "so you think these words from Bush will strengthen Tony Blair's position."

She gently corrected him again.

It was amazing to watch him try to hammer the script home in complete defiance of what she was actually telling him.

Gravatarthe next 4 yrs are going to get really crazy. bush will bring in the real crazies now.
and iran will be next!
meanwhile the remaining sane people in the repug party will trickle out.

by guns and buy gold people!!!!

and detention camps for "problems" like us are very possible.

GravatarDoes the fact that Pletka is bisexual harm her candidacy...

What woman would want oral sex from that dangerous overbite?

GravatarYowza! Can you imagine having Pletka and Rice's chompers anywhere near you at the same time? I find Pletka inarticulate AND shrill, not a winning combination. Add Wolf Blaster to the mix...

GravatarOh my. This is not good at all. Pletka middle east policy sampler:

Aljazeera: It is important to note that many Arab intellectuals, and people in the street, say that reforms cannot be coerced, cannot be installed from abroad. They have to come from within. What is your view?

Pletka: People who say things like that are in the service of dictatorial governments.

Read the whole interview, note the accompanying photos:
