WASHINGTON - You might say the Janet Jackson moment of President Bush's inaugural festivities came Tuesday at a youth concert with hundreds of preteen Hilary Duff fans in the audience.
No nudity was involved, but the Vince Neil-style profanity probably didn't win rock band Fuel any fans at the Federal Communications Commission, nor from the parents at the concert. Now the Pennsylvania band is just hoping the concert, "America's Future Rocks Today," wasn't aired live.
Borrowing a word from Motley Crue's Neil, the lead singer of Fuel proclaimed, "Welcome to the greatest ----ing country in the world." Brett Scallions followed with a quick apology of "excuse my language."
The outburst was one of the most interesting moments of Tuesday's concert, hosted by Bush twins Jenna and Barbara, who were in the audience but did not come on stage.
Duff was the headliner at the half-full, D.C. Armory concert, which paid tribute to youth volunteerism and community service. Duff, who performed in a black sequin top, rolled-up jeans and sneakers, warmed up the crowd for the president and first lady Laura Bush.
"My call to you all is that as you enjoy the great freedoms of America and as you enjoy yourself at this inauguration, I hope you take away the lesson of helping somebody in need," said Bush, who arrived toward the end of the concert after Scallions' remark. "And when you do, it will not only make our country a better place, it will lift up your own spirit."

One thing I heard Biden say that just blew my JiffyPop was, "The experience hasn't been good, your answers in this hearing haven't been good - but I'm going to go with hope over experience" or some such thing.
WTF?!? That's the kind of logic that keeps a person in Congress? Lord, I just may run in 2006 - who wants to be a campaign advisor?
What was up with Barbra Boxers hair at that hearing. She looked like a Shitzu had crawled up on her head and died.
She already has a hard time living down her nutball image, that doesn't help =D
I guess it wasn't so much a slam at Catholics as it was aimed at fellow Democrats. he said "I am a practicing Catholic and I don't know what happened to other Democrats" WTF was that about? Are the rest fo them, God Forbid! practicing Methodists, or Lutherans or pagans or what?

Kerry never said this and if Greenfield doesn't know that by now he should be fired as an incompetent.

I'm disappointed in Obama... it looks like he's decided to pursue the traditional senatorial "go along to get along" model, highly recommended by and for those who intend to be enbalmed in office.
And that's too bad. He could have acted like a leader right from the get-go, which is what his rhetoric (and writing) might have led us to expect.
But I guess I give him a pass on this one on the basis that when you're the new kid you need to pick your first fights carefully.
But he better have something else in mind that shows some gumption, and right quick.
