No warren, I am addressing a deceptive comment in a Krugman article a couple of weeks ago, He made "impact on retirement income" the centerpiece of an argument against the fairness of a Bush SS benefit reduction plan. regardless of the merits of bush's plan, stating it in these terms is highly deceptive. poor thersites thinks that rich people get a similar percent of their retirement income from SS as he will, when in fact SS basically represents a rounding error to such people. Nothing Bush says or does will change this, and it is irrelevant to judging the fairness of any SS cut (or as I said any doubling of benefits, which would have the opposite effect.)
