I'MMA LET YOU FINISH

GravatarUm... because they're idiots?

I noticed that too.

Gravataruh...asshats maybe?

GravatarIf only I knew what you were talking about...

GravatarSecond?

GravatarSeems it's only a big problem if it appears in that damned liberal media...

Gravatari'd rather watch "J.Lo: a Fly Girl's Story"

GravatarI am tickled pink that I don't have the vaguest clue what you're talking about. A cnn-free existence is good, very good.

GravatarI googled the title of this post to find out what you were talking about. (Like watertiger, I had no idea).

Anyway, yeah, they're corporate whores.

GravatarI'd rather go fly fishing in the mountains. Or maybe try to find a copy of "The Fly."

GravatarI'd rather see A Fly Girl's Story.

Maybe...

GravatarPossibly because they are worried that McCain's movie might remind people that the chimp is a coward so bring out the old boy to show that someone in the bushwackers fought in a war? Just a thought

GravatarTJ: I am tickled pink that I don't have the vaguest clue what you're talking about. A cnn-free existence is good, very good.

Yeah, who cares what's on CNN. No one is watching anyway!

GravatarI wondered that too. Is it on a loop at CNN? Memorial Day was last week, right? No wonder their ratings are in the dumpster.

Gravatarohhhh, that stupid John McCain biopic...

like he hasn't had enough coverage.

GravatarPaula Zahn is a family friend of the Bushies.

GravatarDon't forget I was a flyboy too. I served a good 4 out of 6 required years in the Texas Air National Guard. In that time not one "gook" MIG made it over the Rio Grande.

Coked to the eyeballs the other 2 years!

GravatarFuck Paula Zahn.

And her husband, too.

GravatarThe really sad thing is that the Bush Sr. mythos has eclipsed a remarkably good book (in which the Bush story was a relatively a small part). Flyboys is much more thoughtful and sensitive than most of the popular WW2 histories that have come out over the past decade. The author spends alot of time examining the dehumanizing qualities of war with particular focus on how the Pacific was, on both sides, a racial conflict (some of the propaganda parallels are striking). He writes at length on American atrocities in the Phillipines at the turn of the century and makes direct comparisons between that behaviour and the Japanese in China.
Damn shame that's all been thrown aside for, "Rah! Rah! Bush 41."

GravatarDid Paula Zahn ever apologize to Scott Ritter for labeling before the war and to his face as "the last man to drink Saddam's Kool-Aid". Seems the only 2 people telling the truth back then about WMDs were Scott Ritter and Saddam.
.

GravatarCNN is something to watch when CSpan has nothing on it.

PBS before CNN as well.

Even MSNBC...

CNN leading the race to the bottom for everything not Fox.

Gravatar"Flyboy's Story", blah blah blah.

When will CNN find time to produce and air "A Spook's Story", recounting GHWB's years helming the CIA?

Now THAT, I'd be interested in watching.

GravatarWhat the hell are all you good Liberal Elitists doing inside on a day like today? At least I have the excuse of the motherfucking bar exam! (And I even bailed on that and got outside for a while.)

Oh and by the way: IMPEACH BUSH NOW!

GravatarI'd rather hear "A Fly On The Wall's Story: The Saga of the Twenty-first Century's 'Deep Throat' Within the Bush Administration"...
-

Gravatarthe new president of cnn is a protege of jerry bruckheimer.

from tvnewser: "an interesting tidbit about CNN prez Jon Klein: "When he can find the time, which isn't often these days, he turns to his other job after hours-putting the finishing touches on his latest feature film screenplay, called 'The Pinnacle.' He said last week it is an action-adventure techno-thriller about 'five friends who band together to save the world.' He admitted he is already past his deadline with Jerry Bruckheimer's production company."

GravatarI'm waiting for "George H.W. Bush versus the frozen stalk of Broccoli" that should fuckin' rule!

In my defense, I was outside this morning, while it was warm. Got my long run in, mowed the lawn too.

By the time I'd finished the lawn, the temp had dropped from the low 20's (low 70's Fahrenheit) to 11 degrees (52 deg. F.).

So I'm back in front of the computer and doing 3 loads of laundry.

GravatarCan anyone explain why CNN seems to run this show every week?

Because we haven't memorized it yet.

Where's the puke emoticon?

GravatarThey've run out of Body-Flex and juicer spots?

GravatarI like how the fact that McCain was shitty pilot who squeaked out of flight school thanks only to his dad is always ignored.

GravatarAtrios,

Your unplanned new threads are driving my "Comments From The New Messiah" publisher fucking batshit crazy.

GravatarWhere's the puke emoticon?

Now that's a damn good question, pixie.

I'll have to look into it.

(accompanied by the sounds Homer makes when he forgot to buy Marge a birthday present)

GravatarHey moonbats.

I see that " the Ohio coin scandal is getting places that have put great glee into my footsteps.

Mr. Dean said Mr. Noe is only the latest in a line of "disgraced" fund-raisers. He called Mr. Noe, and two other fund-raisers facing scrutiny - Jack Abramoff and Ralph Reed - "Bush's three musketeers of corruption."

More like this please!

Sitting on my balcony, glass of chardonnay in hand, chatting with all you lovely folks....

(Now that the construction zone next door has quieted down.)

GravatarCNN still can't figure out where their audience went.

This would be sad if it weren't so funny. The NYT is beginning to wonder, too, about its loss of status.

Gravataror perhaps.."The President versus the Pretzel", a story of courage and resolve, in the end, only one shall be left standing. The other a crumpled ball of choking shit

No - that's the final episode.

Episode II is "George HW Bush - The Japenese Swoon".

Gravataronly one shall be left standing.

if only i could draw a little pretzel standing, arms akimbo...

GravatarPlease, we have suffered the indignity of Shrub speaking at Memorial Day. We beseech thee, O Provident Master, not to allow him to defile D-Day as well.

Even with his electronic earpiece humility.

GravatarWell, it's 95 and 90% humidity here in Houston, so I'll leave the sunshine outside, thank you very much.

'round here, we won't go outside until the sun is down.....

GravatarSitting on my balcony, glass of chardonnay in hand, chatting with all you lovely folks....

Well, glad to hear you're giving the Repuke noise machine plenty of fodder to keep shrieking the Chardonnay-swilling Liberal Elitist meme. Drink up!

GravatarThe NYT is beginning to wonder, too, about its loss of status.

When I cancelled my subscription a few weeks back they asked why and I said, "Because 30 years ago, the White House was afraid of you. Now you are afraid of the WHite House."

GravatarI sure as hell hope that the continuing Doonesbury Sunday comics listing the names of the war dead pisses somebody off.

Like the American people?

GravatarRIL:

Always glad to do my part.

GravatarI'll see a Fly Girl's Story only if it's about Carrie Anne Inaba, not that overhyped hack J.Lo.

(Though she was good in Out Of Sight, but that was mostly because it was well written and Cheadle and Clooney acted their asses off too)

GravatarWhat the hell are all you good Liberal Elitists doing inside on a day like today?

Gravatar"Because 30 years ago, the White House was afraid of you. Now you are afraid of the WHite House."

Perfect, just perfect.

Res, I am genuflecting in your general direction.

GravatarI guess it gets good ratings during sweeps weeks.

For CNN it doesn't take that many additional viewers to give them a 'spike.'

GravatarWhat am I doing inside on a nice day like this?

'Same thing I do most every nice day like this, Pinky...

...plot to take over the world.

Well, actually, I'm tending a sick kid.

GravatarDamn Res,

Now I wish I had been a long term subscriber, just to have the pleasure of repeating that.

Damn.

Gravatar"Because 30 years ago, the White House was afraid of you. Now you are afraid of the WHite House."

Brings a tear to my eye.

I hope you're going into litigation. You'll be wicked good in a courtroom.

GravatarIf you want to read something that makes your blood boil, go read Assrocket's response to Sid Blumenthal:

But would the Constitutional option have made any change in the "blue slip" custom? None. Would it have changed the rule that allows a single Senator to derail proceedings, at least temporarily? No. And, most important, would it have changed the ability of the Senate majority to bottle up nominations in committee? Not a bit.

As usual, the asshole moves the goalpost, makes shit up, creates his strawman, destroys it, then asks for a correction.

He says the nuclear option would not have changed the blue slip rules or rule IV. Well duh, they have already been changed, that's why the Dem's have to resort to filibusters.

Somebody just shoot me and get it over with.

Gravatarlater, peeps. off to revel.

Gravatar
For CNN it doesn't take that many additional viewers to give them a 'spike.'

What, does McCain have a huge family or something?

GravatarOK,we all heard about how bush was using air forces before the war got started ,right?

Well ,a href="http://www.thenation.com/doc.mhtml? i=20050613&s=scahill>"The Nation has some intresting details.

It was a huge air assault: Approximately 100 US and British planes flew from Kuwait into Iraqi airspace. At least seven types of aircraft were part of this massive operation, including US F-15 Strike Eagles and Royal Air Force Tornado ground-attack planes. They dropped precision-guided munitions on Saddam Hussein's major western air-defense facility, clearing the path for Special Forces helicopters that lay in wait in Jordan. Earlier attacks had been carried out against Iraqi command and control centers, radar detection systems, Revolutionary Guard units, communication centers and mobile air-defense systems. The Pentagon's goal was clear: Destroy Iraq's ability to resist. This was war.

"But there was a catch: The war hadn't started yet, at least not officially. This was September 2002--a month before Congress had voted to give President Bush the authority he used to invade Iraq, two months before the United Nations brought the matter to a vote and more than six months before "shock and awe" officially began.

THis officially pisses me off. Here is an arrogant son of a bitchusing war powers that do not belong to him.THis ,IMO ,is blatanly illegal.Congress had not given the authority to strike and kill like the article is describing.Where does this freeking asshole get off, starting war without approval?

History is showing what an egotistical, arrogant, conniving bitch this fucker is.He needs to be put in his place and now!

GravatarMy CNN horror-for-the-day occured right before Fly Boy; Novak--in his new featurette The Novak Zone (I kid you not)--interviewed Michael Deaver on the enduring historical significance of Reagan's "Tear down this wall" speech. Pure GOP propaganda with no dissenting comment.

FOX had a one hour special on that speech a few years ago--it's apparently legend in GOP minds. My favorite part was Gorbachev saying he didn't remember the speech--did FOX have a video? Cut to Gorby and translator watching the video: "Now I remember--he had a good presentation with his actors' skills, but we'd heard these things many times before." (paraphrased)

In other words, nobody in Moscow at the time cared.

GravatarI liked Ted Turner's slam at CNN from the other day - too much covering 'the pervert of the day.'

CNN = The Missing Little Girl Network.

Gravatarre:What the hell are all you good Liberal Elitists doing inside on a day like today?

...Having a bite to eat and waiting for the sun to be a little less high in the sky before I re-plant my lettuce, put in a few more petunias, dianthus, snapdragons, and herbs, tweak my irrigation system for the tenth time, fix the broken bench of my picnic table, and rip out all the weeds by the side of the house and plant wildflower mix there instead. That's a lot less than I had to do last weekend, when I had to deal with the fact that my neighbor to the back is moving his fence three feet closer to my house, which little bit of territory happened to contain all my tomato plants, which were already 4 feet high, this being sunny California. Had to dig up half the yard and move about ten tons of dirt in order to move those things without killing them. What a project! Many would say it's not worth it, but those things are my babies! Some people are less fussy about growing dope than I am about my tomatoes. Off to work now....

GravatarBecause < ahref="http://www.sawnet.org/khush/">Anderson Cooper's special on "The Eunuchs of Calcutta" was done when he was at ABC.

GravatarBecause Anderson Cooper's special on The Eunuchs of Calcutta was done when he was at ABC.

GravatarI just watched in sickened amazment, as CNN ran a little piece that addressed the important issue of:

What if Watergate never happened.

They took the stance that everything from the Vietnam war, to 9/11 would have been prevented if only Tricky Dick had been allowed to stay.

I mean it was disgusting. They acted like bringing Nixon down, is the reason for every bad thing thats ever happened in this nation.

I'm tired of this revisionism.

Gravatar"What the hell are all you good Liberal Elitists doing inside on a day like today?
Res Ipsa Loquitur"

Well, since you asked: Just got in late last night from a 12 day fishing trip, so spent today in front of the computer catching up on biz and various corrospondance.

GravatarI just commented on this about 10 minutes before going onto your site, after seeing it come up on CNN. Talk about party propaganda! The difference between the U.S. and the old Soviet Union, in this case, is the Soviet Union didn't bombard people with propaganda pieces about leaders who were no longer in power--with the major exception of Lenin, of course.

GravatarFuck Me!
George W Bush

Not if you were the last male on earth.

GravatarUh...Because CNN sucks? And because someome in the Bush family has to be a war hero since the current WH occupant was too drunk and coked up to serve in the Air National Guard?

GravatarI only and infrequently watch the Cardboard News Network at the top of the hour for a brief exposure to the MSM take on the day's runaway wife, Deep Throat and Michael Jackson speculation...But all George Herbert Walker disinfotainment aside, I imagine Atlanta's walking on a cloud now that another blonde female has vanished...their hearts go out in a pig's ass.

GravatarAccording to Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_H._W._Bush), June 12th is the birthday of Chowderhead, Sr. (a.k.a. "41").

Ergo, I assume they are just plugging tab a (seasonally-appropriate filler material) into slot b (whoring themselves to the party-in-control).

It is easier to do so rather than re-establish their journalistic credentials by exposing Junior in ANY of his evolving 'gates. Also, with the end of the Jackson trial nigh upon us, they need backlist filler material to make up for either the upcoming dearth of "all molesters, all the time" or the commitment of 110% of their resources to covering the trial's end.

(btw, I read somewhere once that Senior's WWII plane crash killed his crewmen, who, as I recall, either 'didn't have to die' or were 'allowed to die, with a wink and a nod.' Someone might want to check my memory via the interwebs. It might simply be rumor. But, then again...)

GravatarPaula Z. the bitch, and hubby had the red-tailed hawks nest removed from their Manhattan building...cue Alfred

GravatarCause it's already paid for. That's cable TV for you.

GravatarWhat's CNN?

GravatarSo I'm not the ONLY one who wondered about that.

Why can't we get them to run something like that about a Democrat? I think that's the much better question. Why doesn't somebody try?

Gravatarheh,

from http://www.newshounds.us

at 09:55 PM What's With CNN and "A Flyboy's Story"?

Last summer, "CNN Presents" aired, "A Flyboy's Story: George Bush in World War II," over and over again. Suddenly, last weekend, CNN dragged A Flyboy's Story out again and aired it two times. Today, six days later, CNN's airing it again, three times. Got that? Three times. Three hours in one day.

What's with the glorification of George H.W. Bush's military service? Why has CNN aired this show five times in seven days?

Somethin' ain't right here.

GravatarA Flyboy's Story

Can anyone explain why CNN seems to run this show every week?

Because they never tire of taking it up the ass from the Bush Crime Family?

GravatarPappy's going to die soon?

GravatarFunny thing is, George the First ditched his aircraft leaving his crew to drown [kinda like chapiquidic except there was no alcohol involved, George was/is cold blooded lizard]. He's changed his story on the incident at least twice. Like every Bush family member, Bush I is a disgrace.

GravatarIs Paula Zahn the PR person for the Bush family?

GravatarBrennan> kinda like chapiquidic.
Right up there with best of the spin meister's like Hannity (and it's Chapaquidic). GHWB's Avenger was shot down and it was the resposibility of each crew man to get himself out of his seat and bail out. Not a fan of GHWB but don't dis his service in the Navy. Read the book flyboy's.

Gravatarer that is "Flyboy's"

Gravatar"GHWB's Avenger was shot down and it was the resposibility of each crew man to get himself out of his seat and bail out."

Actually it is the duty of the pilot to ensure, to the best of his ability, that his crew has evacuated BEFORE he does.

FYI, there were comments from other aircraft crew, who testified in no uncertain terms that he bailed out without first ascertaining the condition of his two man crew. These vets were in aircraft flying aft of his position.

They also spoke of disciplinary action, including court martial, that were quickly skuttled.

As to the Flyboy bit on CNN, simple, Commander Codpiece is in another low spot so they are airing the story as if the father's "glory" could rub off on junior.

The Bush family have been scum, they are scum and they ever will be scum.

Gravatarbobski,
> comments from other aircraft crew, who
> testified in no uncertain terms that
> he bailed out without first
> ascertaining the condition of his two man crew.

bullshit.
From George Bush: The Unauthorized Biography --- by Webster G. Tarpley & Anton Chaitkin
"Chester Mierzejewski, another member of Bush's squadron,..
hinted that Bush might have abandoned his two crewmembers."

Wonder what the story with Mierzejewski is.
The Avenger apparently took a direct hit. Bush said bail out. If the crew couldn't get out there was nothing Bush could do about it. Go look at a picture of an Avenger. Any suggestion that Bush could have landed an Avenger without power and wings burning on the ocean sounds like total crap to me.

Gravatarcj51 - you're wrong. 'Without power' makes no difference, the aircraft will glide. You don't need an engine to ditch. No-one has ever said the wings were burning. The Avenger was DESIGNED to be ditched, had a life-raft, etc. Poppy bailed out pronto and left his crew to die.

GravatarMierzejewski, who is also a recipient of the Distinguished Flying Cross, told the "New York Post" that he saw "a puff of smoke" come out of Bush's plane and quickly dissipate. He asserted that after that there was no more smoke visible, that Bush's "plane was never on fire" and that "no smoke came out of his cockpit when he opened his canopy to bail out." Mierzejewski stated that only one man ever got out of the Barbara II, and that was Bush himself. "I was hoping I would see some other parachutes. I never did. I saw the plane go down. I knew the guys were still in it. It was a helpless feeling."

GravatarRe: "bobski's" comment

Quite right. Unlike a naturally stable airframe like a Piper or a Cessna, Avenger's wouldn't fly themselves. An Avenger pilot would know exactly what would happen to that aircraft left to itself -- one big aileron roll followed by a dive straight down to the drink. The pilot leaves last.

Gravatarbobo
Power makes a huge difference if you happen to be trying to climb out in an aircraft that weighs 7-8 tons and just got hit by anti-aircraft fire. They don't glide too well.
Bush thought the wings were on fire and that's where the fuel tanks are.
"Poppy bailed out pronto";
Bush stayed in the plane after it was hit, released his bombs (that hit the target) and stayed with the plane until it was over the ocean, and then said bail out with a few seconds left till the plane hit the water. And GHWB was supposed to do what else? Do roll call or something? Do any of you guys fly? Ever had any kind of emergency as PIC in a 172 or anything?
I can barely imagine what GHWB went thru. Of all the things you can criticize GHWB for, I would lay off the Avenger story. So theres one guy Mierzejewski whose recollection doesn't match everybody else, so Mierzejewski must be correct?

Gravatar"Brand Bush" is damaged goods.

Corporate America has a lot invested in this name- and it could take decades to develop a new brand-- so, better to start the damage control now (in time for 2008.)

A Bush, Sr death would actually be a coup for the restore-the-Bush-name campaign-- it would give media a chance to recycle all of that Reagan hagiography from last summer. ("Bush- a name that Reagan trusted...") -- not to mention the inevitable documentaries featuring the Bush clan at their Kennedy-esque family compound in Maine-- AND featuring all of those other up-and-coming Bush boys.

BUSH- "a name YOU can trust." "Even CLINTON seems to like the old man!"

It would serve America well to have "the rest of the story" ready to air- because you KNOW that CNN is ready when George the elder croaks.

Greenwalt? Moore? Write the scripts, assemble the footage. End the Bush juggernaut before the next wave gathers.

GravatarCNN will keep showing this damn praise to Herbert Walker, trying their best to make him a hero.

He was not a hero, he was a fucking coward and he killed the other person in the front of the plane with him. He could have stayed with the plane and ditched it in the ocean, thus saving both lives.

What a fucking bunch those Bush people are. Cowards, shirkers, liars, crooks, bums all. If it wasnt for drug money theyed have no money at all.

Junior will come out of this war a very, very rich man. There is 7 billion out there unaccounted for and I bet he has a couple of duffle bags of it already.
