So, how many of Plame and her company's contacts were burned and are now sleeping with the fishes or in some Abu Ghraib. Nothing else explains the actions of the CIA, Fitzgerald and the courts.

That notification came at 8:30 p.m. on Sept. 29, 2003, but it took Mr. Gonzales 12 more hours to inform the White House staff that it must "preserve all materials" relevant to the investigation.
Is Bolton casualty #2. If he's "appointed" by Bush at some point or another he'll after go before the Senate for whatever reason.

Sept 29, 2003 was a Monday. I could've sworn - back in the day - that the request was made on a Friday and Abu's excuse for the twelve hour delay is that it was a weekend.
But I'm middle aged so my memory might be going.

Not that I'm surprised, but after reading Rich's column I looked at Brooks.
His big concern is, ...

His big concern is PEOPLE ON AIRPLANES WITH CHILDREN!!!

Bolton has got to be in the mix. Remember the list of names he was checking out that the WH wouldn't release to the Senate FR committee? My money is that Plame's name was on that list.
Oh these guys are so hoping for a suicide bombing inside the US. It's there only chance to really distract everyone.

About Bolton, I'm guessing the WH wouldn't release the names on those NSA transcripts because one name was Wilson or Plame.
So, technically, Rich may be wrong. Bolton is the first WH casualty of TraitorGate.
Just speculating, by the way.

The title I keep pushing -- The Rove Conspiracy: WMD Lies and National Insecurity -- is echoed in Rich's article:
When a conspiracy is unraveling, and it's every liar and his lawyer for themselves, the story takes on a momentum of its own. When the conspiracy is, at its heart, about the White House's twisting of the intelligence used to sell the American people a war - and its desperate efforts to cover up that flimflam once the W.M.D. cupboard proved bare and the war went south - the story will not end until the war really is in its "last throes."

Rich has a nice theory.
It's nice because it smacks of Bush and this administration doing what is politically expedient in keeping them in power rather than what is right for the nation.
I say democrats should screw John Roberts to the wall. At this point all they risk doing is alienating the republican's core constituency evenfurther and as far as I'm concerned, they can all go fuck off. I don't want them or their votes. I'll wait until they're dead and we can place our hopes in the notion that their children won't like seeing how daddy fucked the maid, secretly gets her to the abortion clinic, then gets on a podium and condemns abortion for political gain.
Damn, the air is getting thick with chairs, ain't it? I'm even seeing a few Barcaloungers flying about.

Come on! How Rich!
Alberto Gonzales, Mister Quaint. Mister Not Torture. Mister Abuse. Mister Organ Failure or Death. This pièce de turd was approved as America's "top cop." APPROVED AS AMERICA'S TOP COP! Wasn't that enough reason to object to a promotion? Wasn't "top cop" enough of an outrage? 'One of the top judges' is supposed to be some new giant leap into a realm worthy of examination? Get fking real.
And to add to the blunt reality of the emptiness of the Rich point, consider Karen 'Defarge' Hughes, who was just recently examined for qualification as America's "public diplomat" to the Arab world with the official title "Under Secretary of State for Public Diplomacy," with the rank of Ambassador.
Madame Hughes apparently also had a hand in the Plame game having been called to testify before Special Prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald in the investigation of Plame's outing as a covert agent working to protect America against weapons of mass destruction. Mdm. Hughes was a proud member of the "Iraq Group," the White House propaganda central for the Iraq war and the mushroom cloud of weapons of mass destruction bullshit. The Iraq group's records from July 7 to July 30, 2003, were also subpoenaed for information on the Plame outing.
Remember Mdm. Hughes? It was less than a couple of days ago. Maybe it was after Rich's deadline.
Some questions that Think Progress proposed that Democrats could ask M. Hughes -
..................................................
Did you have a role in leaking the name of an undercover CIA Agent?
What was the role of the White House Iraq Group, on which you served, in manipulating intelligence to sell the Iraq war?
Were you involved in declassifying memos to smear Richard Clarke?
Were you involved in the administration's past efforts to hire fake new reporters to sell Administration policies?
Did you have any involvement in communications dirty tricks by the Bush administration? For example, giving Jeff Gannon Guckert White House press credentials?
Did you resist the administration's efforts to politicize the September 11th attacks for political gain?
Did you intentionally falsify President Bush's Guard record?
..................................................
Somebody tell Frank Rich that no Democrats showed up to question Mdm. Hughes.
So why think this group of clowns would go after "Water boarding is cool" Gonzales?

Rich's op-ed is great, but I think he missed some facts.
- The State Dept memo was sent from State to the White House for transmission to Air Force One. Who in the WH say or heard of this memo before or during Bush's Africa visit? Rice, Hadley, Rove? Was Doug Feith in DoD a receiver of the memo?
- On AF 1, Ari (Bush's then press secretary) was seen reading this memo by reporters.
Rich also doesn't mention that the phone logs on AF 1 were subpoened by Fitzgerald.
Bolton hasn't been directly tied to the Plame thing YET, but he was intensely involved in the WMD rationale for the war, he was the State Dept official responsible for proliferation issues, and he did request some NSA intercepts of US officials. Tie that in a bundle, and you may have his complicity in the conspiracy as well.
We need some more leaks to keep this going and reveal the breadth of the conspiracy.

Re Rich's point about Rove having a pattern of questioning people's sexual orientation, maybe somebody ought to reverse the tables on Rove:

so, gonzaled is good enough for attorney general, but not the scotus? this is but one of many examples of the shameful conduct of senate democrats, and republicans for that matter, who when asked to kiss bush's ass for the last 6 years have ALL puckered up and asked how sloppy he'd like it. That the missing 12 hours, not to mention the months before Justice was shamed into investigating at all, could only now become relevant in evaluating the torture lawyer's fitness for such a critical national position in its own right, reveals just how far our once great nation has fallen during this terrible, amoral administration.

Bob Shieffer of Face the Nation got this tidbit today (and as he implied, it's a bombshell):
Gonzales admitted to Shieffer that he told the White House Chief of Staff (aka Andrew Card) that he had received notice of the Justice Dept. investigation right after he (Gonzales) found out at 8PM that night ...
So the web and the ripples widen once more: Who did Card tell? And Gonzales said Bush didn't know until the following morning. HUH? Is it really believable that Card didn't tell Rove, Shrub and other key staffers immediately upon finding out from Gonzales?
How many already knew before the official staff notice 12 hours later? And what did they do in those 12 hours? What did they tell Fitzgerald and the grand jury about who knew what and when they knew it?
I am extremely ignorant. Can anyone tell me : Will we ever be told what actually happens at the secret grand jury trial? When it is complete are ALL the findings made public? Why is it called a Secret Grand Jury?
All these titilating leaks don't constitute enough evidence to get these creeps, but what is enough? Does Fitzgerald sum up his findings in public at the end? When is that?

(Cheap imported fingers!)
A bit of background on "NOC's"
Weird as it seems, my father was an NOC spook. He first worked for the OSS, then for the DIA.
He was in the military, and before each secret mission, was formally discharged from the militery...
Remember Mission Impossible?
The self-destructing tape always started with "Good morning Mr. Phelps" and always ended with "as usual, if you are caught you will be disavowed".
That meant that if he were caught, the absolute best case scenario was rotting in prison until we caught one of theirs, and a prisoner swap might happen.
My father showed up a few years after the DOD declared him dead- much to the surprise of my mother and her new husband!!!!
A prisoner swap- he was lucky in some respects.
Mrs. Wilson did the same thing, and had to live with the possibility that while she was rotting in prison, her children and husband would be getting used to the new mommy and the new Mrs. Wilson.
Such people are not supermen or superwomen.
But they are all certainly superpatriots.
Mrs. Wilson risked not only torture and death- but even worse, never seeing her children again.
Treason is such a minor offense compared to what the bush administration inflicted upon the USA by destroying not only a critical ongoing operation to prevent a WMD attack in the USA, but also by nuking all future opererations to keep the USA safe.
All for petty rebublican revenge and republican political gain.
"republican" must never be spoken again without "Treason" or "Traitor" in the same sentance.
The damage that bush caused to our national security may someday be measured by how many USA citizens are killed by a nuclear attack that would have been prevented if bush and his fellow traitors cared more for the USA than their own political ambitions.
The flyover red states can bask in the glory that the traitor they voted for will only succeed in enabling a nuclear attack in a blue state smart enough to vote against a traitor.
If yer heads are spinning @ less than 10K RPM, You must have been born in Kansas.
Republican=TRAITOR
TRAITOR=Republican
Everyone here must abide by that law of modern politics!
The founding fathers of the USA wanted something so much better than the republican voters are able to understand.
The fact that not a single republican alive today has read the USA Constitution, and that not a single republican even cares that there IS a USA Constitution, proves beyond any shadow of a doubt that republican=TRAITOR
