GravatarPeance and freeance, silly!

oh.. and something is marching too.

GravatarWe're there to find the Lost City of Gold, the Holy Grail, and the original Metallica before they went Alternative.

Gravatar3rd?

Gravatarfor the haggis! dur!

GravatarWe're there because this administration is chock-full of incompetent fools.

Now the question is how do we ever get out without leaving the poor Iraqis worse off than they were before we went blundering in.

GravatarWhy are we in Iraq?

Well, we are in Iraq becasue it is a Noble Cause.

And what is the Noble Cause?

Being in Iraq.

Duh. Can't you see how reasonable it all is?

Gravatari smell a crusade!

Gravatarthe original Metallica before they went Alternative.

"Captain! I've found something! it looks like hair, sir. Shall we investigate?"

GravatarDoes it have something to do with dominoes falling?

GravatarBecause we can't leave now.

Fucking Clenis.

GravatarI was under the impression that for some strange reason, we were defending Israel, but that's just me.

GravatarI thought the most important question was 'is our children putting food on our higher growing pie?'

GravatarBecause...

...

...

Damn, I got nothin'.

GravatarOperation Iraqi Liberation

GravatarI think it really boils down to not having the finishing touches on the paln that allows for a quick drawdown prior to the 2006 midterms without looking like the opportunists that we all know that they are, and without admitting that "mistakes were made."
.

GravatarI thought we were looking for El DOrado?

Gravatarto increase Cheeto consumption.

Gravatarhave the wingnuts started to celebrate the discovery of that stash of "chemicals" in Baghdad yet? "LOOK LOOK! WMDS! LOOK! WE TOLD YOU!"

Gravatarwe're in Iraq because of oil, and as a sideline fattening the pockets of many corrupt people, organizations and corporations. Especially corporations.

Why am I in Edinburgh?

Because that's where the best Tattoo in the world is being performed, and after I see it tonight, I'm rounding up the clan and head south to raid some cattle.

GravatarWe went to Iraq because the Likudnik agents within the Fascist Party needed to have a good strategic location to attack Iran, and because Georgie needed to prove to his mother that he is more of a he-man than his father.

Exxon-Mobil thought the oil was a good idea, too.

GravatarWell, how's about...

...

...

Shit. I still got nothin'.

Gravatarfrom the peak energy blog:

With over 25% of the world's remaining oil, and a much lower depletion rate than that of Saudi Arabia (thanks to 15 years of sanctions and war following the historical efforts to keep iraqi production low), I guess its not such a far-fetched statement.

If we assign an average value of US$100 a barrel to this oil, you could say that this treasure is worth around $30 trillion dollars - which makes the hundreds of billions of dollars being spent by the US occupying the country a little more understandable. And of course, as we follow the path down Hubbert's Peak the strategic value of this oil is immense.

One of the problems with Iraq's (and Kuwait's, and Saudi Arabia's for that matter) oil is that it mostly gets shipped out through the Persian Gulf, from where it is easier and cheaper for it to head onwards to India or China than the West. This presents something of a problem as depletion proceeds and the world becomes ever more dependent on this oil (assuming we don't make the much wiser choice of moving on to renewables and other alternatives as rapidly as possible, of course).

I found some of the comments in a post at Brad Setser's weblog a while back quite interesting - they talked about a pipeline from Iraq to the Mediterranean, which would a much more convenient means of making sure that this oil headed westward instead of eastward. This pipeline is called the "Tapline" and has been out of service since 1977. It crosses from Iraq into Jordan, Syria and Lebanon to the sea. There was a lot of talk in the aftermath of the Iraq invasion that it could be resurrected and terminate in Israel, though exactly what is happening now (if anything) isn't clear.

GravatarWhy Are We In Iraq?

We're in Iraq because

Gravatari just sat through an hour of faus nudes. "chemicals" in baghdad, terror here, terror there, relaxing airport security for the elite, weather, the boy schtupping teacher, and? no reports of u.s. k.i.a.'s in iraq, no ms. sheehan, no international news (excepting terror), but lots and lots of fear-fear-fear.

i don't have to look at faux for another month as they don't alter their news cycle.

sound familiar?

GravatarDamn haloscan!

We are in Iraq because:

GravatarSmalfish--the moment we give religion the same space in society as we give science, we are in serious trouble.

Both are valid, but even St. Augustine argued that they were qualitatively different.

Illness as a moral failing--that's our new health plan.

GravatarLooks like we'll get a discount on the next war....with Iran. Since we're right next door, we'll save probably 15% in mobilization costs. Yippee.

GravatarRichard Cranium, was that you on WBAI the other morning?

Gravatarwhy can't we win in iraq?

GravatarIt's 98 degrees here. Sheesh.

GravatarThe Mission is....The Mission!

Sovereign People are....People Who Are Sovereign!

GravatarHow big is the divide in this country when half of us want to see the day when C+ Augustus is finally not let off the hook, and the other half buys $2,000 cheesy metal busts of their Caesar-in-Chief?

GravatarBecause...

ALL YOUR IRAQ ARE BELONG TO US.

Gravatar's alright Richard, sometimes I gaze upon the vast indifference of the American people to the mannifest corruption and choas all around us, and it truly boggles my mind.

'course, I did just finish reading Baxter's "Evolution" and started in on KS Robinson's "40 signs of rain" so maybe it's just the practical despair of the over all state of the human race setting in......

How about religious tribalism?

GravatarMax--should be C- Augustus.

GravatarI GOT IT! I GOT IT!

We are in Iraq because of Clinton's blow job!

How could I have been so slow?

GravatarEnjoy the question because the next will be just as puzzling:

"Why did we leave Iraq"

GravatarSo we can give pudding to children.

Gravatarres - your sharp mind and reasoning skills once again cut thru the fog.

Gravatar Enjoy the question because the next will be just as puzzling:

"Why did we leave Iraq"

No, *that* one's easy: To get into Iran.

GravatarWe're in Iraq because an imperialist power requires a strategic base. It's not just the oil, you know. Vietnam was a strategic acqusition -- a hedge against China. But that's all overnow.Likewise Latin and Central America. But they're decimated too.

Or as Susan Sontag once said "The white race is the Cancer of civikization."

Later she took it back, but she got it right the first time.

GravatarRes is our winner!

Don't forget your year's supply of Rice A Roni on the way out!

GravatarJesus, we went into Iraq to pre-empt the Chinese deal with Saddam for developing his oil fields.

It is really that fucking simple.

Gravatarwhy can't we win in iraq?

Because we can't define what winning is.

GravatarDidn't we de-nationalize Iraq's oil company yesterday?

Gravatar So we can give pudding to children.

and paint their schools, don't forget.

Freshly pained schools for each and every Iraqi child. it's the least we could do, really.

GravatarWell reason 239 is because now we need to honor those who have lost their lives.

It's circular logic to the nth degree. See, We need to honor the troops who originally died because of wmd, imminent threat, hussein was an evildoer, spreading domino democracy. But since those "honorable" reasons that thousands have died or been maimed for appear to be no longer active, well now we need to be in Iraq because we have to honor those who have given their lives over there.

Gravataryou know, i hated that we invaded, but hoped we'd find weapons. every time it seemed like we did, i would say "thank god! now at least there was a reason!"

now i know better.

GravatarIs "reload page" on Apple the same thing as "refresh"?

GravatarKarin, yes, it was.

Gravataroh and the Euro is what Saddam was about to start dealing in

Gravatarsmallfish-- that made me want to scream.

Gravatar Because Bush says so. Now shut and get back to work, peons.

Bush also says you owe me a pic of String for the photo album...

GravatarHecate-
Yes, or press apple-command and R together.

Gravatar
Because we can't define what winning is.

there is no winning. the only way we could have won is if we showed that there was a real reason to be there. we can't do that. and since we aren't going to colonize iraq, but just give it back, what is there to win?

Gravatar1Watt--I thought I heard a throwaway line about that.

GravatarIn the winter of 2002 I took a history dept. seminar on Afghanistan, bin Laden and the emerging "war on terror." I was by far the oldest one in the class. The general consensus even then of those classmates I called the "young turks" -- the chino-ed, ballcapped military history/poli sci guys -- was that it's all about oil. Regardless of whatever the administration said or did, the real motive was oil as far as they were concerned -- and that was fine with them. I've often wondered how many of them traded their chinos for desert fatigues.

GravatarAtrios,

Bush answered this questions many times. Because Saddam hasd WMD or WMDrelated programs

Gravatar Well reason 239 is because now we need to honor those who have lost their lives.

That's the Vietnam Justification. You're right, it's circular. The more Americans who die, the more it is argued we have to stay to honor their deaths, which means more Americans die. Rinse and repeat.

Gravatar Enjoy the question because the next will be just as puzzling:

"Why did we leave Iraq"

Easy: 2006 midterms.

GravatarJust checkin' back. Still got nothin'.

Ok, I'm going outside, lay down on the sidewalk, and bake my spleen.

Who else is in? 100 deg. F has to be good for something.

GravatarBecause anyone who tries to convert the oil pricing currency from US dollars to something else, like Euros, must be stopped.

GravatarThe more Americans who die, the more it is argued we have to stay to honor their deaths, which means more Americans die. Rinse and repeat.

No amount of rinsing will get this blood off our hands. All of ours. Cindy Sheehan is right--we're all to blame.

GravatarBecause Saddam hasd WMD or WMDrelated programs

which of course were never found, except for the materials that the UN inspectors already knew were there and had sealed. No bunkers, no stockpiles, no factories, no testing grounds, no delivery systems, no nuthin'.

GravatarWhats the situation in Crawford today?

Have the freepers been mobilised, or was it an empty threat?

GravatarThe order hasn't been given to get out yet. I hope it comes soon.

GravatarIs it really this hot, or do I have a fever?

GravatarFuck it!
I'm going to repair to my personal Metroplex.

I'm gonna cue up This Is Spinal Tap, or maybe The General, one of Keaton's best efforts, or perhaps Double Indemnity.

Yes, Walter Neff, I'm looking at you.

Gravatar 100 deg. F has to be good for something.

it'd probably be really good for making sun tea.

Gravatar 100 deg. F has to be good for something.

Gravatarwe're strangely absent from this thread.

GravatarOk, I'm going outside, lay down on the sidewalk, and bake my spleen.

Walmart detectives have proven that lying on the sidewalk in 100 degree temos, can be hazardous to your health.

GravatarEveryone's baking on the East Coast, and here, it's a balmy 82 degrees.

Gravatar"Still the questioned has not been answered"

I'm in no position to impugn Atrios for typos, given my many, but he's posting on a prominent lefty blog and should catch such solecisms.

The answer is "Look at the PNAC manifestos"

They're very clear that the US should invade Iraq, setting up a domino effect whereby the Arab mideast becomes Israel- and West-friendly. The signatories of that document included most everyone in the Bush admin except W himself. Also Jeb, election thief supreme.

There's no mystery about why we invaded Iraq--it's just not noble.

GravatarThe more Americans who die, the more it is argued we have to stay to honor their deaths, which means more Americans die. Rinse and repeat.

Now that we've discovered the secret to perpetual motion, do we still really need the oil?

GravatarRichard Cranium ... I heard you on "Sedition" the other day. Congrats for getting Ms. Figueroa's story on air. I wish they'd had you on for longer.

GravatarKarin, funny story about the WBAI gig - I'm talking all serious and shit with the host, and I've got two chumps at work dancing around me, making Calvin (of Calvin and Hobbes fame) faces, trying to make me lose it on air.

Showed them wankers. Heh.

GravatarShaw Kenawe ...Where are you?

Vinnie

true but while we're bogged down there, China has made deals in Iran, Venz., Brazil, Africa, Indochina, & Russia. See we win (freeper logic).

Gravatari'm sure it's been said OIL.

which sort of sucks 'cause it's not like it's going to get any cheaper.

and HEGEMONY, a word i did not know 2 years ago, and would be just as happy not to know now.

next stop IRAN.

Gravatarthere is no winning. the only way we could have won is if we showed that there was a real reason to be there.

True enough to the reality based community, but you can always change your definition of winning. I suspect that's what is going on now.

GravatarPere Ubu--it makes delicious sun tea, indeed.

GravatarThanks, res. Wasn't even sure anyone listened to AAR anymore.

GravatarActually, I suspect there are all sorts of reason.

The earliest mention I've found so far is in a Russ Baker interview of Mickey Herskowitz:

“He was thinking about invading Iraq in 1999,” said author and journalist Mickey Herskowitz. “It was on his mind. He said to me: ‘One of the keys to being seen as a great leader is to be seen as a commander-in-chief.’ And he said, ‘My father had all this political capital built up when he drove the Iraqis out of Kuwait and he wasted it.’ He said, ‘If I have a chance to invade….if I had that much capital, I’m not going to waste it. I’m going to get everything passed that I want to get passed and I’m going to have a successful presidency.”

GravatarI'm leaving for Crawford tomorrow morning..about 10 folks from Ithaca are going...

Cindy Sheehan is coming to the trial,SEPT.19TH and is apart of the Tribunal in the evenings...

COME TO THE TRIBUNAL..

GravatarWhy are we in Iraq? Because we are not yet in Iran.

From an AP Article on Yahoo just this morning:

But, he [Bush] said, if diplomacy fails "all options are on the table."
"The use of force is the last option for any president..."

For a moment, I thought I had woken up at it was still March 2002 -- the last two and a half years had all been just a dream.

Oh well, at least the press can save itself the headache of writing all the propaganda, war correspondence, and inevitable post-invasion hand wringing by doing a few simple search and replaces on their existing articles. I don't know what they're going to do with all those left over q's.

Wake me up in 2008.

GravatarThere are these guys in my "yard" playing basketball. They say they are going to go jump in the Hudson when they're done. I may go watch ...

People are swimming in the Hudson upriver (up above Tarrytown). But I've never seen anyone do it down here who wasn't trying to do some swim-around-Manhattan type thing.

Gravatar we're strangely absent from this thread.

Maybe [they] should bring up AAR, or Able Danger, or Clinton's blowjobs, or how we're all dope-smoking hippies or something.

GravatarNTodd--like Lady Macbeth, we are all going mad.

GravatarBut, he [Bush] said, if diplomacy fails "all options are on the table."
"The use of force is the last option for any president..."

Of course, being a Good Christian Man, Bush is well aware that the Bible says that the last shall be first...

Gravatar'all options are on the table' = 'we're going to war, I've made up my mind and you can't stop me.'

Gravatarand HEGEMONY, a word i did not know 2 years ago, and would be just as happy not to know now.

heh. don't look now, but our hegemony? it's fading fast! (i'm not sure there's a country out there that is scared of us)

GravatarBush could defuse this by just meeting with her! It would be over. But he can't, because he's a coward!

GravatarBTW, thanks to Jeffraham I now have gmail, which makes it a lot easier to attach files. In keeping with the theme of this thread, I'd be happy to send an mp3 of "Bring The Boys Home" to anyone who wants it.

GravatarStill awaiting directions from Frank Luntz. Frank? Something to C&P into this discussion? Please?

Gravatarheh. don't look now, but our hegemony? it's fading fast! (i'm not sure there's a country out there that is scared of us)

I want to get my hegemony for nothing, and my chicks for free.

GravatarNow that we've discovered the secret to perpetual motion, do we still really need the oil?

The oil industry will suppress the news, just like they did when we discovered that we could harness the Founding Fathers' spinning in their graves...

GravatarShaw Kenawe ...Where are you?

Cape Cod.

GravatarYour all wrong.

It's to correct the major hole in the American Hegemony. A basic inability to make great flat bread(s).

As you know the Mediterranean Sea is surrounded by people who know how to do this. Dominance of the world is impossible, if all we've got to eat is PBJs on wonda bread.

GravatarDuh! We're there to give freedom-loving Iraqis freedom, and to kill those who obviously don't love freedom.

GravatarWe have a pool going in our dept. at work. Squares can be purchased for $5. Each square denotes time, date and place of next 'terrorist attack' on US soil. You can purchase more than one square.

I think that we are holding this kind of pool speaks poorly of us as a nation. As for speaking poorly of the math dept., well, that's standard.

GravatarBut, he [Bush] said, if diplomacy fails "all options are on the table."
"The use of force is the last option for any president..."

Are those the comments he made to the Isrealli press?

What nonsense, the only use of force he has left is in the form of a freeking ICBM. And I would hope that middle America has the grace to back this motherfucker down from launching. But I hold no breath in that reguard.

GravatarThe oil industry will suppress the news, just like they did when we discovered that we could harness the Founding Fathers' spinning in their graves...

Funny you should mention that...

GravatarBecause Iraq has valuable, deep, and almost inexhaustable stores of sand.

That's right, sand.

How else are we going to keep our beaches from eroding from all of these Satanic hurricanes? Ask yourself - if the beaches go away, where will all the Girls Go Wild? What sort of crippling blow will be dealt to the economy by the demise of shops dealing in sand dollars, beach hats, beach balls, and tropical print clothing?

We should all applaud the Bush administration's forward-thinking and bold sand-securing strategy for the future.

GravatarI want to get my hegemony for nothing, and my chicks for free.

Bangin' on them war drums like a chimpanzee...

Gravatar We have a pool going in our dept. at work. Squares can be purchased for $5. Each square denotes time, date and place of next 'terrorist attack' on US soil. You can purchase more than one square.

That is sick.

Just plain sick.

GravatarShit. We got nothing either.

Damm. We need a nice nap.

GravatarRichard ... Really? I listen to AAR all day? (Does that make me a loser?) I don't really watch teevee, so I guess the radio keeps me company. I like "Sedition" (but I do wish they'd give the guests more time!)

GravatarWhats the situation in Crawford today?

About 50 protest warriors are making their way to Camp Casey right now - walking. The freepers are holding a rally on the other side of town.

I'd appreciate any info from Cindys side, I'm getting all my info from freeperville.

Gravatarwhich of course were never found, except for the materials that the UN inspectors already knew were there and had sealed. No bunkers, no stockpiles, no factories, no testing grounds, no delivery systems, no nuthin'.

Well, it's not our question to answer. If it's the 's/q/n' thing, then it belies Michael 'Forger' Ledeen's notion that kicking around a foreign country is a once-a-decade thing.

But Bush's comments to the Israeli press are a bit early by Andy Card's standards, aren't they? No product launch until after Labor Day...

It's about Americans, the PROUD and the FREE, kicking ASS!

GravatarJust a point -

there's the "real" reason for the invasion (oil, hegemony, pincer moverment in Iran) and then there's the "reason for public consumption" (WMDs, torture, democracy).

GravatarIt is to help repugnicans consolidate their hold on power. See statements on how much Bush admired the way Maggie used the Falklands war to get her agenda passed, by his original biographer.

GravatarYou all want to abandon Iraq to the forces of Islamafascist evil.

You helped put them there.

GravatarOne of the most bandied about inaccuracies about the rich white men ca. 1780 aka the "Founding Fathers" is that they were fall on their knees Christians.

GravatarTTT (tangential to topic): On an NPR station in L.A. yesterday (don't remember which of the two, KPCC or KCRW), they had a news item about the Brazilian heist.

At the end of it, the woman said it was the second-largest heist ever...

...second to 'a 9-billion heist in central Iraq in 2003.'

Has anybody else heard them use this line? This was top of the hour news, but it wasn't the national NPR news, it was the local station marking time in betw. the news and All Things Considered. But I imagine the source is NPR.

Can't follow-up with any thoughts here (not that I have any besides amazement), 'cause I'm taking off. But I'd love to read what anybody else thinks of this novel interpretation of the facts we thought we knew.

GravatarPeeperkorn--the desert seems to bring out the crazies in CA.

GravatarYou all want to abandon Iraq to the forces of Islamafascist evil.

That is obvious
Gary Ruppert

I thought the reason we supported Saddam for so many years was because we desperatly needed a secular bulwark against "Islamofascist evil." Aren't you assholes ever satisfied?

No one in BushCo gives two fucks about "Islamofascist evil," and you know it.

GravatarSee what this means? When we eventually flee Iraq, we're going to get blamed. The right will learn absolutely nothing.

GravatarSuccess/victory in Iraq

i heard some puke, mebbe on Springer, a week or so ago, say (paraphrasing) that there were two different criteria by which victory/success in Iraq could be measured:
1) we bring democracy, or some simulacrum therof, to the country...failing that,
2) we render the country incapable of threatening "our allies in the region" (i.fucking e., Israel) by reducing it to internal chaos, civil war, and death...

the reasons for the invasion/conquest/occupation/rape of iraq were always these:
1) to control the oil there, especially who profits by it, and who gets it (btw, Iraqi officials are saying again that Kuwait is running those diagonal wells again, and stealing Iraqi oil)...
2) to establish one or many landbases for the extension of US "influence" (i.e., military power carried by US aircraft, mainly) in the region between the Persian Gulf and Afghanistan, northwards into the trans-caucasus to the Russian border...
3) to reduce Iraq to a state of perpetual conflict/rubble (see above)...
4) to provide cover and distraction for Bushevik internal policies of rampant privatization of the public sphere at home, and war profiteering abroad...

any analysis which does not touch on those minima is already too flawed to be taken seriously...

.

GravatarI'm getting all my info from freeperville.

So your saying your deaf, dumb and blind?

GravatarBush could defuse this by just meeting with her! It would be over. But he can't, because he's a coward!

Sheehan already got to meet with Bush. She liked Bush then. She didn't bring up any of her recent moonbat claims then. Her loss. Just because her son died doesn't give her infinite opportunities to bother the President while he's hard at work.

Sheehan is an anti-semitic tool who is exploiting her son to advance her anti-American traitorous agenda.

GravatarWe are there to put the fear of God into terrorists and terrorist wanna-bes.

Mainstream American.

Over half the country isn't buying the lies and distortions.

Gravatarah, the lovely phrase treason raises its ugly head again.

i'm thinking that not many people actually knows what treason is.

GravatarOne of the most bandied about inaccuracies about the rich white men ca. 1780 aka the "Founding Fathers" is that they were fall on their knees Christians.

'taint so, McGee.

Maybe we shouldn't push too hard on this. It'd be all they need to throw out what little Constitution we still have left.

GravatarOkay, nap's over. Frank still hasn't sent us an email. We're flying blind here.

Gravatarshall we amend the constitution to make it easier to find treason where it did not previously exist?

Gravatarhttp://www.whatdoesitmean.com/in...om/ index799.htm

GravatarWe're there because Bush thought that the way to consolidtate power was to have a "small war" so he could "get a lot of political capital" and "get everything passed that [he] want[ed] to get passed." No other reason at all. The oil and plunder are lagniappe. He'd have invaded Easter Island if need be.

GravatarHARD AT WORK?! HE'S FUCKING ON VACATION! HE EXERCISES 8 HOURS A DAY! HE'S CLEARING FUCKING BRUSH, YOU INSANE FUCKING IDIOT!

Gravatarseaxneat--can you seriously supply the legal definition? I have a basic idea, but I'd like the genuine article(s).

GravatarWe are there to put the fear of God into terrorists and terrorist wanna-bes.
Robert

Yep. Nothing frightends suicide bombers more than the threat of physical violence.

"The fear of God." What a fucking joke.

GravatarNo one in BushCo gives two fucks about "Islamofascist evil," and you know it.

Christofascist evil, of course, is a different story.

They're for it.

GravatarBush could meet with every fucking Gold Star mother, even the ones who agree with him, for an hour each, and all he'd miss is his fucking weightlifting.

GravatarHE GOES TO BED AT 10! HEAVEN FUCKING forfend that he has to stay up a couple more hours.

GravatarTreason is aiding and comforting our enemies.

Cindy Sheehan's protest is definately increasing morale amongst Islamofascist terrorists in Iraq.

In a way, it's a shame that the President hasn't clearly used the "T word" on scum like Michael Moore and Cindy Sheehan, but I guess he has to be the "Good Cop". I wouldn't be like that if I were President.

GravatarDoug, what about pizza? Pizza is flat.

And notice what's happening with franchise pizza vs the great mom and pop pizza places that used to dot the land.

The best Pizza I ever had on the west coast was made by a couple of Lebanese brothers (liberty pizza, Hayward, I think they finally went out of business, and now have a Lebanese resturant. More power to them.) What they had going for them with the pizzas was the great crust they had. Their toppings were good but, in the bay area with the easy pickings for good food, that was not any better then a few hundred others, that had the same access to the raw materials.

GravatarSo your saying your deaf, dumb and blind?

I prefer to think of it as a sick addiction.

Gravatar See what this means? When we eventually flee Iraq, we're going to get blamed. The right will learn absolutely nothing.

Sounds like they learned plenty from Vietnam.

GravatarNo one in BushCo gives two fucks about "Islamofascist evil," and you know it.

The Bushitistas actually SUPPORT Islamofascism, which is why it has exploded worldwide and why terrorism is on the march.

That's obvious. Why does Bush love Osama Bin Laden?

GravatarBiden is on meet the press
Dean is on Face the Nation

GravatarNo other reason at all. The oil and plunder are lagniappe. He'd have invaded Easter Island if need be.

Bush wouldn't have invaded Easter Island. He'd be scared those giant stone heads would come to life and attack him.

Gravatar You all want to abandon Iraq to the forces of Islamafascist evil.

abandon? don't they have History classes in your high school? Islamofascist evil, like the kind we bought and paid for in Afghanistan under Ronnie Reagan? or do you mean the Islamofascist terror unleashed after Commander Codpiece invaded Iraq?

smarter trolls please.

Gravatarhave the wingnuts started to celebrate the discovery of that stash of "chemicals" in Baghdad yet? "LOOK LOOK! WMDS! LOOK! WE TOLD YOU!"

It's a wonder to me that WMD's weren't planted for *discovery* purposes at the beginning of this clusterfuck.

If they knew then what they knew now...

GravatarAnd notice what's happening with franchise pizza vs the great mom and pop pizza places that used to dot the land.

luckily bloomington, IN still has good non-chain pizza available.

Democracy is no longer an effective reproductive resourse strategy for the mega-church bacteria colony but a theocracy would be.

GravatarRuppert, he could end the whole episode by meeting with her. She would have nothing, then, and would have to leave. But he can't, and he won't, because he's a spoiled coward, and all he has ever been is a spoiled coward.

And you hate her because she proves it to the world.

GravatarWe are there to put the fear of God into terrorists and terrorist wanna-bes.
Robert

Well, that seems to be working...

GravatarBecause Iraq has valuable, deep, and almost inexhaustable stores of sand.

That's right, sand.

But under that sand is our oil. 2 yrs ago they discovered several new oil fields under that sand, That's one of the deals Russia & China have with Iran(to develop the new fields). One reason Iran needs nuclear power plants is to provide electricy to pump that oil. That's why U.N. Sanctions will never be passed. That's why Isreal & Bushco are planning to attack Iran on trumped up charges.

Gravatar*know*

GravatarHARD AT WORK?! HE'S FUCKING ON VACATION! HE EXERCISES 8 HOURS A DAY! HE'S CLEARING FUCKING BRUSH, YOU INSANE FUCKING IDIOT!

The President is always at work. There's always decisions to be made. He appointed John Bolton while on his "Vacation". He's not some sort of Superhero who doesn't have powers outside of Washington.

You Liberal Elitists can't handle someone who doesn't love Washington DC.

The President even met with some advisors, and he's probably called numerous people too.

He's hard at work and too busy to be bothered by moonbats.

GravatarJust because her son died doesn't give her infinite opportunities to bother the President while he's hard at work

Yes, because there's brush to clear and $25,000-a-plate fundraisers to host. It's hard work on Chimpy's oh-so-French vacation?

Btw, who's going to win the PGA, Ruppert? After you proved your ability to pick the spread in OH-2, I want to make sure I don't put any money on your tip. Zero. Credibility.

Gravatar"Anti-Semetic"????

Good lord where did this asshole Gary get that one?

GravatarThe President is always at work. There's always decisions to be made.

"Clear brush, play golf or fall off my bike?"

GravatarNo other reason at all. The oil and plunder are lagniappe. He'd have invaded Easter Island if need be.

One of the greatest minor TV characters of all time is the "Kid from Easter Island" from The Critic, whose head was a giant stone megalith and who thus kept falling over.

Gravatar abandon? don't they have History classes in your high school? Islamofascist evil, like the kind we bought and paid for in Afghanistan under Ronnie Reagan? or do you mean the Islamofascist terror unleashed after Commander Codpiece invaded Iraq?

Is there a string that you pull on the backs of Duncanites to spew out this crap? And every third post here accuses conservatives of making no sense.

GravatarSo your saying your deaf, dumb and blind?

But sure plays a mean pinball...

GravatarThe Bushitistas actually SUPPORT Islamofascism, which is why it has exploded worldwide and why terrorism is on the march.

Well, he's overthrown one Islamic regime and one secular one, so at best he's neutral. But given his toadying to Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, I'd put him down squarely in the "for" camp.

Really, BushCo agrees more with the Saudis on most questions than it does with, say, Germany.

GravatarCindy Sheehan has given speeches which praise the Palestineans, and an organization she's linked to has a map which shows Israel and calls it "Palestine"

GravatarThe mega-church colony has already gained much resources as the wall of seperation of church and state have fallen through faith-based pork.

GravatarGrown-up Chimp likes to blow up Iraqis for the same reason adolescent Chimp liked to blow up frogs. And of course, his handlers are only too happy to let Chimpy be Chimpy, given that there's black gold in them thar dunes.

Avarice and innate cruelty -- yeah, I'd say that just about covers it.
..

GravatarWhy are 134,000 American troops not having an oh-so-French vacation in Iraq, Ruppert?

Again, abject revisionism will warrant a severe cockpunching.

GravatarAnd then there's tortillas. Tortillas are a genuine American flatbread, and they've moved north of the border now.

GravatarSome bright soul posted quotes from wingers a few years ago about Clinton's intervention in Bosnia and Kosovo yesterday. Point was, they sound a lot like some of us today -- you know, stuff like how they were gonna support the troops but not the Prez; more of them involved DIRE predictions of failure and unforseen consequences. Funny how that didn't, how you'd have to call Clinton's military interventions sucessful and for a good purpose.
Funny how all that right-wing gloom and doom didn't come true until Chimpy's godforsaken invasion and occupation of EYE-raq.
Oh, and that Green Day video? Number 1 on MTV's Total Request Live now.

Bolder critics hinted that George W. Bush had sought to shift attention away from how his family's ties to the Bin Ladens and to rogue elements in the Middle East had crippled U.S. investigations in the months leading up to 9/11. Sen. Charles E. Schumer (D-N.Y.) complained that even when Congress released the mid-2003 intelligence reports on the origins of the 9/11 attack, the Bush administration heavily redacted a 28-page section dealing with the Saudis and other foreign governments, leading him to conclude, "There seems to be a systematic strategy of coddling and cover-up when it comes to the Saudis."

There is no evidence to suggest that the events of Sept. 11 could have been prevented or discovered ahead of time had someone other than a Bush been president. But there is certainly enough to suggest that the Bush dynasty's many decades of entanglement and money-hunting in the Middle East have created a major conflict of interest that deserves to be part of the 2004 political debate. No previous presidency has had anything remotely similar. Not one.

logical fallacy at work: post hoc, ergo propter hoc.

Every comment that Ruppert posts gives succour to those who want more dead Americans.

GravatarTreason is aiding and comforting our enemies.

Oh, like what is being done in our name in places like Gitmo and Abu Ghraib?

Or is it more like bombing wedding parties?

Or maybe it's more like preventing your kids from having everyday antibiotics and killing them with religion?

I think I've gone and lost what treason really means. Is it when a president creates a war out of thin air and twists the arm of the voting republic?

Or is it tampering with the voting procsees?

Tell me. I really need to know, as the rebublican party seems to be full of what I thought treason to be.

GravatarCindy Sheehan has given speeches which praise the Palestineans, and an organization she's linked to has a map which shows Israel and calls it "Palestine"
Gary Ruppert

Big frickin deal, the Zionists still call the whole thing Palestine, too.

I can show you a gazillion news articles from the west bank datelined "Israel." Same as from pro-Israeli groups. Does this prove the same thing that it's supposed to prove about some Palestinian group?

GravatarThe Republican party needs to get the message out better. We've held our punches agagainst the leftist terrorist-huggers. We need a full-out media campaign, working from the President on down, to portray any and all opposition to the Iraq War as disloyal to the United States.

GravatarIs Ruppert a parody troll are a real one? It's getting harder to tell. Their arguments are becoming equally ridiculous.

Gravataran equally good question is,

Why did Bush rush to invade Iraq instead of allowing the U.N. weapons inspectors to finish their jobs in March 2003?

Gravatar how come your cannon-like wit comes up with an insult that implies that your ideological opponents must be impoverished?

Well, you're much too stupid to work as a cashier.

GravatarYou Liberal Elitists can't handle someone who doesn't love Washington DC.

GravatarOrganized crime is no longer about finding horse heads in bed with you. It's big business.

It involves installing government officials in Afghanistan and Iraq to allow the mafia easier access to Afghan poppy fields and the oil fields in Iraq. Free commerce in the organized crime world sees no benefit in using the national petroleum reserve to control energy prices because it hurts oil industry profits.

Corruption has always been about money. Symptoms of corruption are lies, killing, and sacrificing democracy to achieve the ends of money making. America is the new Italy where organized crime reigns all powerful in government, religion, the media, and the military. “The Family” stresses family respect, honor, integrity, and mostly loyalty. The ultimate success for organized crime is when its corrupt views of morality are adopted by an entire nation and it’s great when it’s the most powerful nation in the world.

Of course, once organized crime rules government the battles between syndicates rage and it pits the Sicilian mafia, Arab mafia, Jewish mafia and all others against each other.

What’s fascinating is how with all of today’s technology they still use old fashion strategies like car bombs, which have been used for years by the mafia, to kill their enemies.

But, money is the root of all evil no matter how much we all love it!

Gravatar From LGF

So, in other words, from your spastic colon.

GravatarThe people have spoken. Maybe that's why you guys are so angry all the time.

(CNN) -- The number of Americans disapproving of President Bush's job performance has risen to the highest level of his presidency, according to the CNN/USA Today/Gallup poll released Monday.

According to the poll, 53 percent of respondents said they disapproved of Bush's performance, compared to 45 percent who approved.

The margin of error was plus or minus 3 percentage points.

The 53 percent figure was the highest disapproval rating recorded in the CNN/USA Today/Gallup poll since Bush became president in January 2001.

GravatarWe need a full-out media campaign, working from the President on down, to portray any and all opposition to the Iraq War as disloyal to the United States.

Gravatar Is Ruppert a parody troll are a real one? It's getting harder to tell.

GravatarTreason isn't ignoring an intellegence report that "Bin Laden Determined to strike the U.S."?

Why is the chimp cutting brush & trees all the time? Does he hate living things?

GravatarHere's my simple answer to why we went to war.

Bush was already a lame duck when 911 hit. Because he is an unevolved cretin and is surrounded by warmongering evil brainiacs (some of them - not Condi, okay?) he had to "avenge" the act of terrorism and show the country he had balls.

They picked on Iraq because he was the big boogey man to the stupids already. Built in bad guy - no need to introduce a new one when we already had reels of tape of Saddam in the vault, ready to go.

They thought it would be a two week adventure because they're full of hubris and didn't listen to any of the war planners who knew better.

If we had an evolved administration we would have worked with the rest of the world, who were mostly horrified by the slaughter of 911, but instead we did the most arrogant thing imaginable.

Oil and everything else was on the back burner, certainly, but this invasion might not have happened if not for 911.

Now we're fucked.

GravatarAnd wasn't the anti-war left soundly rejected, both in the forms of Dean and Kerry?

Funny thing is, the political process continues. It doesn't end on election day.

So yes, in a fit of naive foolishness, the Dems rejected Dean's stance against the Iraq war, and then a mere 51% of the electorate rejected Kerry in November. And now they're coming around to see the war as the clusterfuck it is.

It's a factual map of the boundaries over the last 60 years. Get a grip, moron.

GravatarI'm voting parody troll. My d-i-l was asking me why I hadn't flown down to join Ms. Sheehan. I didn't have a good answer. Are people joining her who haven't lost children?

GravatarCindy Sheehan’s puppet masters include the Crawford Peace House, a virulently antisemitic group that features a photo on their home page of a map of the mythical country of “Palestine” being replaced by the state of Israel.
Gary Ruppert

Huh?

So an anit-semetic group has a map demonstrating that Israel replaced Palestine? Isn't that what really happened? I mean, the Brits called the place Palestine, the Zionists called it Palestine, and then it was renamed Israel.

Or are the LGFers incapable of writing a coherent sentence?

GravatarI just love the fact that the people who refer to the "elites" and those who want all Jews slaughtered and sent to hell at Christ's return aren't the real anti-Semites.

GravatarTo promote freedom, to rid the world of an evil tyrant, to prevent the spread of WMD and lastly to assert control over oil for greedy ice cream trucks. I want to know why Bush has never seen Killer Klowns from Outer Space.

GravatarI always protest - Marxism would require an intellectual rigor and consistency of position not seen by any of the liberal posters here.

Well, I thought you were a Marxist from your rant 'tother day about teachers and how people are only motivated by money... very Marxist there... but seeing as it would demand "intellectual rigor" I'm forced to admit you just don't measure up.

GravatarRuppert - Explain something to me:

why was it a good thing for Terri Schiavo's parents to sell pictures of their brain dead daughter from the web site they ran about her, and try to interfere with her wishes and her husband's, but Cindy Sheehan has no right to be upset about the death of her son?

Answer me -

GravatarKerry wasn't anti-war. It would have been better if he had been, I think.

GravatarThe people have spoken. Maybe that's why you guys are so angry all the time.

No, I'm just sad that there are that many ignorant people allowed to vote.

GravatarWhen I hear something like that, I automatically assume that it's part of the usual Republican shit flinging machine. Its all they know really.
Another Bruce

It works for them. The truth doesn't. One strategy works for them, the other doesn't.

Gravatarummm... isn't [Palestine] what that state was CALLED before 1948 and the establishment of Israel?

And LGF as a source for proof of anti-Semitism... fuck, could you find a more biased source or what?

No. There has never been an independent country named Palestine. The name was adopted first by the anti-Semitic Romans. It has no weight. The land has always been truely named Israel.

And LGF is biased towards the truth

GravatarI think Sheehan already has her answer. She's just trying to get everyone else to ask it too.
Too bad her answers were given last November. When the country voted back into power this imbecilic, deluded frat boy who likes to make crude jokes at others expenses, flip people the bird, and behave like a spoiled brat whenever someone challenges him, you have your answer.

The only other excuse is to suggest that they rigged the elections. And if they did that then we have a constitutional, moral, and human rights justification to take up arms and end this fiasco in a very bloody fashion.

MYOB'
.

GravatarWhy are we in Iraq and what did the Preznit know?

I believe the question you are trying to ask is:

"What are we doing in Iraq and when did the President know it?"

.

GravatarRuppert, you cowardly fuckin little puke...

i am still awaiting the phone call which informs me you're in albuquerque to personally impugn my love of country and accept the consequences of that bit of folly writ large and painful upon your reeking, feculent carcass...

GravatarRobert - Indeed, the people have spoken. Your preznit has an approval rating around 41%. And over 60% of Americans think Iraq was a mistake and think, too that we should get out.

In fact, only a tiny fraction of Americans are left in the Bush Cult.

And bear in mind, elections are more about turnover, organization, and control over the mechanics of voting than they are about "the will of the people." Only about 25% of the eligible electorate actually voted for Bush.

GravatarThey have no other choice but to disrespect the facts and truth unless they want to be out of power without access to the resources.

GravatarWhy are we in Iraq? For oil, world domination, profiteering, cock waving, and revenge.

GravatarWow. Robert sure is a model of intellectual rigor. Polling Report gives trends, dumbass, and the trend is growing negatives on the war. How that is magically supposed to change when there is no sign whatsoever that the security situation can possibly be improved is best known only to brain-dead "conservative" ideologues who lie even to themselves.

GravatarSo, in other words, Bush's followers were more fanatical than Kerry's followers. And had more voting machines, too.

GravatarThere has never been an independent country named Palestine. The name was adopted first by the anti-Semitic Romans.

okay, I vote "parody troll".

Anyone REALLY that stupid wouldn't be able to use a keyboard. ("British Mandate of Palestine" He-llo?)

GravatarHecate -

I agree. If Gore had taken his rightful place this we wouldn't be talking about war and torture today.

If Kerry was in office right now I doubt anything would be different today. Especially since the congress and senate still have dem minorities. No way would we be closer to an end.

GravatarOr will you spin some wild-eyed consipracy involving Diebold

I would say that the indictment of that guy in New Hampshire is pretty good proof that the GOP is indeed guilty of vote tampering.Of course, the trolls will say that indictment means nothng, but MJ was indicted and he was found guilty by the press. Whats the differece?

GravatarThe land has always been truely named Israel.

Just as 'Gary Ruppert' aka Armorica's Mammary can spell 'truly'.

Gravatar And bear in mind, elections are more about turnover, organization, and control over the mechanics of voting than they are about "the will of the people." Only about 25% of the eligible electorate actually voted for Bush.
Eli | Email | Homepage | 08.13.05 - 3:10 pm | #

What, the missing 50 percent of the liberal electorate was too stoned to get to the polls and vote for Kerry? (joke)

My guess was that they went to the last Kerry rally and decided not to purchase.

GravatarThe only other excuse is to suggest that they rigged the elections. And if they did that then we have a constitutional, moral, and human rights justification to take up arms and end this fiasco in a very bloody fashion.

It is your duty as a citizen.

GravatarMy d-i-l was asking me why I hadn't flown down to join Ms. Sheehan. I didn't have a good answer. Are people joining her who haven't lost children?

Yes, she's being joined by many people, whether they've lost children or not. I've been thinking about going down there, but I'm not entirely convinced it's the right time yet. This is a slow boil, and she should continue to be a "lone voice" as much as possible for a while. And then a tidal wave hits Crawford at the end of Bush's vacation when coverage starts to wane, reviving interest. Then a march from Crawford to DC when he goes back to the WH without having spoken to her. Tipping point.

GravatarWell, I thought you were a Marxist from your rant 'tother day about teachers and how people are only motivated by money

In a lot of ways, Marxism lies at the core of today's Right (and not just 'cause Marx's columns in the Herald were influential on the early Republican party).

Seems to me they buy into a lot of his ideas (and Darwin's, and Freud's, and Reich's)...they just use them to consolidating power and increasing social control. And the more I hear them screaming about "postmodern thought," the more I suspect they've simply co-opted it for their own purposes. Who was it who said "Fascism is psychoanalysis in reverse?"

Probably the latter.

Don't you know? the Democrats never lose honestly! The only reason it appears close is because they're not liberal enough.

Ahahahahahahahahaha.

The Democratic Party is practically a sister of the Socialist Party.

They're anti-troop and anti-America

GravatarAnybody nearing or over 40 on this blog saw the unleashing of the beast in Irag 2003 a singularly bad omen.

It just didn't lock in tight in the solar plexus the way committing a young generation to ghastly death should.

Unless the continuance of the United States is on the line, War should be avoided.

And Congress let the Executive call all the shots on this one.

Hell, at least they had the integrity to declare a state of War on 12/8/41.

Sadly this fuckstick may be right. But they won't win by talking about the bang-up job they're doing in Iraq. You'll have Santorum, Coburn, et al. getting soapboxes on CNN and Fox railing about "family values." They'll rile up the Neanderthal base who get worked up men's peepees being where they don't want them to be, voter drives in churches . . .

It happened in 2004 and it may happen again.

So, Robert, my dipshit brotha, you may very be right, but Georgie's Iraq debacle will not be the reason.

Gravatar(Brownshirt R), Explain something to me...

Tena, you so funny!

Why don't you just email Unka Karl directly?

GravatarGoddamn! I cannot get a winger to fucking answer my question.

Wonder if it's because they don't have an answer?

C'mon, you idjits: why was it a good thing for Terri Schiavo's parents to go so far in exploiting their brain dead daughter that they sold pictures of her in her brain dead condition? And why isn't it a good thing for Cindy Sheehan to protest the death of her son?

GravatarYeah, so much for the wingnut revolution.

Cindy Sheehan - How sick is the National Media and the Democratic Party?

Pre-released August 12, 2005, for the week of August 15, 2005
NoDNC.com commentary

Cindy Sheehan's son Casey was a soldier in the Iraq war. Tragically he died in that war and any parent can appreciate the pain suffered as a result of that loss. However, looking back at Cindy Sheehan's prior statements about President Bush, she has had a surprising change of heart. Her son Casey died a hero attempting to rescue other soldiers who were under attack. Unfortunately for the Sheehan family, an American soldier as a hero is unacceptable and it appears the media and extremist democratic party special interests are using Cindy Sheehan to tarnish the memory of her hero son...

In her mother's quest to do something about the pain of her loss, she has become an unwitting pawn of a sick national media machine. The same media machine that may be partially responsible for the death of her son, Casey Sheehan. What makes this appear like another twisted media manipulation is the fact that Cindy Sheehan, as a grieving mother, had a previously complimentary meeting with President Bush. After that meeting with the President, she was understanding and sympathetic to the President in spite of her grief. THE REPORTER of Vacaville, CA published an account of Cindy Sheehan's visit with the president at Fort Lewis near Seattle on June 24, 2004...

Cindy Sheehan's about face seems to have occurred after her involvement with several radical-extremist democrat special interest groups. "Cindy Sheehan has surrounded herself with a group of anti-American, anti-military, terrorist-sympathizing agitators, including Code Pink, the Crawford Peace House, and the crackpot crowd." The groups Cindy Sheehan is aligned with are part of a larger community of democrat special interest groups who hate America, advocate violence against American soldiers, and have contempt for American ideals and values.

Cindy Sheehan has done a complete turnaround from her previous position after getting involved with radical, anti-Bush political activities. In an interview with an apparent leftist named "DarkSyde" (August 1, 2005 on UTI), Cindy Sheehan noted that "[m]y husband and I are separated, because he doesn't support my activities..." She has had the normal embers of pain and grief fanned into flames so intense that she is destroying her own marriage to pursue this destructive national media inspired and democrat endorsed hate-fire. More sadly, recent releases by her own family members indicate that they are also departing from her political campaign.

If anyone ever needed absolute and objective proof of how sick the national media machine has become, just ask yourself, why isn't the media machine reporting Cindy Sheehan's turnaround? Why isn't the media machine reporting the Sheehan family's request for her to turn from her crusade? Why isn't the national media reporting Cindy Sheehan's crusade being supported by these hate-filled, anti-American democrat special interest groups? Instead, all we hear about is the "peace crusade," from the media machine.

Here's the frightening thing, the very same media machine that she seeks to give Cindy Sheehan a forum to vent her pain and anger in is at least indirectly, if not directly responsible for many of the attacks on U.S. soldiers in Iraq. It is arguable that many of the media's actions, and these democrat special interest groups may have some responsibility in the death of Cindy Sheehan's son, Casey Sheehan. Let's not forget the national media's incessant drumbeat to incite the terrorists to action:

Faked a flushed Koran story by Newsweek that enraged Muslims throughout the middle east.
The relentless drumbeat of a few errant soldiers in Abu Graib who "humiliated" enemy combatants.
The continual democrat and media sponsored lying propaganda about how "horrible" the conditions are at Guantanamo.
The constant playing of beheadings to the glee of Al Jazeera and the terrorists.
The incessant daily drumbeat of each and every casualty in Iraq.
The countdown to the 1,000 soldiers who lost their lives in the run up to the elections, and the constant drumbeat of soldiers who have lost their lives.
Is it any surprise to anyone that Cindy Sheehan has become a pawn of far left extremist special interest groups of the democratic party and the national media? There is no level too low, too sick, or too deranged for the media and the democratic party special interests to go in attacking American interests.

I pity Cindy Sheehan, and feel sorrow for the entire Sheehan family. Casey Sheehan's memory as a hero is now tarnished--, his mother has been used as an unwitting pawn of the left to tie her grief and sorrow to sick anti-American, pro-terrorist special interest groups supporting the democratic party. These same sick special interest groups have now broken apart her marriage, wounded her extended family, and give aid and comfort to terrorists all over the world. All the while, Cindy Sheehan shouts "President Bush you killed my son," in an irony of pain and suffering, she is like those prisoners of war who turn on their true allies to pacify their captors. Cindy Sheehan aids the very same people who are likely partially, if not completely responsible for the death of her son.

Thank you democrats and your media machine for delivering yet again on some of the most vile, sick, and evil human manipulation this country has ever witnessed. Goebbles would be proud of your accomplishments.

The truth hurts, doesn't it?

GravatarThey're anti-troop and anti-America

You mean anti-semitic, right?

Well, notice the careful use of the word 'independent'. One could argue the British Mandate was independent.

So never mind the fact that there was an actual place called Palestine. That wasn't "real" in their minds. When the drugs wear off and they see reality, they just shoot up again...

Gravatar Sadly this fuckstick may be right. But they won't win by talking about the bang-up job they're doing in Iraq. Read Freakonomics . Most candidates lose elections not because they don't have enough money, but because the electorate doesn't like the message.

And for the last 10 years, the liberal message has been soundly rejected. It would have been rejected if you had Michael Moore and Susan Sarandon in the booth at Fox, and Janeane Garofalo in Dan Rather's seat.

Gravatar Goddamn! I cannot get a winger to fucking answer my question.

Meanwhile, down in the boilerroom: "Non-sequitor! Illogical!! Norman, coordinate!!!"

GravatarYes, she's being joined by many people, whether they've lost children or not. I've been thinking about going down there, but I'm not entirely convinced it's the right time yet.

I saw a couple of bearded guys in tie-dye shirts, and my heart sank. We do not need stilt-walkers and bongo-players down there.

Which probably means the GOP is practicing on stilts as we speak...

GravatarThe land has always been truely named Israel.

Up has always been down.
Black is the new White.
Nuts are really berries.
The Tooth Fairy married Good King Wenceslas, but things didn't turn out as well as expected.

GravatarBut this 'evolution having a great intelligence' thing is really interesting me these days and in a few more months, I'll have it figured out, I hope.

GravatarAdios, muchachos.

Still, I want them to try.

Gravatarexpressing an opinion is expressly forbidden in LGF-ia. unless it's "Bush is God."

Correction, one is allowed to criticize Bush from the right, as in "goddam Bush is giving into those moonbats and not kicking all those wetbacks out" or "GOD GAVE JUDEA AND SAMARIA TO THE JEWS and neither Bush nor Sharon can go against the will of God by demanding we turn Gaza over to TERRORISTS".

GravatarWe're there because we're too stupid to look around, to learn from the past:
1. anybody with any sense knows we have to decrease our reliance on oil, yet we haven't the guts to work toward it
2. we are unwilling to sacrifice anything to keep our lifestyle; that includes breathing, which is getting harder and harder, to improve the environment
3. we didn't learn from Papa Bush that the Bushes like war, oil, money, power, deceit, the upper eschilon of the world--like the Saudis
4. we were gullible/stupid enough to elect (slip through the Supreme Court)another Bush which means more exploitation of the American people, and anybody else in the way.

Therefore, we are there for oil and money involved, at any cost. To hell with the costs.
We will not send the wrong message to the "enemy" (and it is us?)

GravatarThey have no other choice but to disrespect the facts and truth unless they want to be out of power without access to the resources

It's quite simple.

*The GOP sent our troops into Iraq based on reasons that were found to be false.

*The GOP sent them into Iraq without proper planning and without proper equipment.

These are facts [not that it matters to you] that are not in dispute. You can froth and foam all you want but at the end of the day those facts will not change.

The GOP has demonstrated themselves to be the worst stewards of our military in this nation's history.

Gravatar"No. There has never been an independent country named Palestine. The name was adopted first by the anti-Semitic Romans. It has no weight. The land has always been truely named Israel."

Just like there has never been a place called America.
That's just some bullshit self-promoting, egotistic name given it by a self-righteous, gold-hungry spanish explorer named Amerigo Vespucci.
The true name for this continent is long since lost to the dead and murdered natives who lost their lives protecting it from whites who saw fit to murder, rape, and steal from them under the guise of divine providence.

So I suggest you stop calling this the united states of America and start looking up it's true name.

MYOB'

GravatarTroll, Freakonomics also posits that the massive drop in crime this country has experienced over the last two decades is due to Roe v. Wade.

Or did you skip that chapter?

Most of the settlers believe that Sharon decided to sell them out to the "establishment" in Israel as the price for their not looking too hard into his finances. Remember when those corruption charges were pending against him last year? They think he bought himself more time by dismantling the settlements.

The truth is they're probably right.

The Iraqi people aren't freer, they're much worse off than before you meddled in their country.

You get America out of Iraq, you get Israel out of Palestine

(..)

Another thing that I'm doing is - - my son was killed in 2004, so I'm not paying my taxes for 2004. If I get a letter from the IRS, I'm gonna say, you know what, this war is illegal; this is why this war is illegal. This war is immoral; this is why this war is immoral. You killed my son for this. I don't owe you anything. And if I live to be a million, I won't owe you a penny.

Basically, Cindy thinks that Israel is "occupying" Palestine and that her son's death justifies her evading her taxes.

GravatarFrom LGF

So, in other words, from your spastic colon.

Hey, that's an insult! Apologize now!

GravatarGary, why is Cindy Sheehan anti-semitic?

GravatarEven I draw the line at arguing with trolls about Palestine. This way lies madness.
Phila

Yeah, I recoiled instinctively without realizing it until your comment on that one.

GravatarThe right wing must be very proud of themselves for beating up on a mother who has lost her son to a war they can't even rationalize. The blood is on their hands, and all the trolls in the world can't wash it away.

GravatarCindy Sheehan's about face seems to have occurred after her involvement with several radical-extremist democrat special interest groups.

I stopped reading this pigshit after this.

Seems? Nice factual reporting.

Seems?

And whoever wrote that screed "seems" to be a fucking asshole.

GravatarCindy Sheehan pays for my kidney dialysis.

GravatarCindy Sheehan killed me, too. Joe Scarborough paid her to do it.

Gravatar
Most of the settlers believe that Sharon decided to sell them out to the "establishment" in Israel as the price for their not looking too hard into his finances. Remember when those corruption charges were pending against him last year? They think he bought himself more time by dismantling the settlements.

The truth is they're probably right.

ah, that is ringing a bell.

GravatarEven my nutsack withdrew on that one, I think.

Gravatar*The GOP sent them into Iraq without proper planning and without proper equipment.

True most of the heavly armored tanks are still sitting in the U.S. & Germany.

Rummy wanted a quick fighting force and sent the marines & army to war without the Abrams.

GravatarAs well, Cindy thinks Iraqis were freer under Saddam Hussein.

Gravatar Why Are We In Iraq?

Actually, the question should be, "why aren't the brownshirts?"

GravatarCindy Sheehan gave me flying lessons.

GravatarYou know who was an anti-Semite? Winston Churchill.
Seebach | Homepage | 08.13.05 - 3:25 pm | #

Nixon. An anti-semite saved Israel in 1973 at the cost of an oil embargo against the USA.

So the question is, why did Nixon do it? He hated Jews. The Republicans weren't all that tied to the Israeli lobby back then. Why would an anti-semite blow so much political capital with the Arabs to save Israel.

Probably the Cold War. Too many Russian clients in the area.

GravatarCindy Sheeham forced me to have Liddy and those other jackoffs break into the DNC offices at the Watergate. Goddamn bitch!

GravatarI have here on this paper a list of the names of puppies that Robert has strangled on orders from his masters in Crawford. And HERE are the canceled checks, $5,000 each for each puppy strangled, signed by Karl Rove himself.

Can you deny it, sir?

GravatarBecause the Saudis hired the Bush family to screw up the oil supplies in Iran and Iraq.

GravatarOkay, Phila's right. Not going to even try.

GravatarAnd the other, other thing is that we need to know when the draft will start. If their logic must be maintained - fighting terrorism over there so we don'y fight them here - is so incredibly false it blows the mind. It is illogical.

GravatarCindy Sheehan has given speeches which praise the Palestineans
Gary Ruppert | Homepage | 08.13.05 - 2:52 pm

because as we all know, the palestinian people should be "driven into the ocean like rats", the official likudnik position.

, and an organization she's linked to has a map which shows Israel and calls it "Palestine"

and an organization that gary ruppert has linked to [RNC - it's in his 'homepage' link] is under criminal investigation on a myriad of fronts.

GravatarGary Ruppert = murderer

And we are never going to let you all forget it.

GravatarChurchhill supported the founding of Israel only to get the Jews out of Britian. Too many of them were left wingers to his taste.

GravatarCindy Sheehan was my Oxycontin dealer.

GravatarShut up Atriots--you're making me look bad. I designed your current preznit, after all. Shut up !!! I designed Bill O'Rieily to say that.

GravatarSheehan is on the record has saying Iraqis were freer under Saddam, that Israel should be wiped out, and that she won't pay her taxes in 2004

Gravatarthe country feels depressed and divided. Bush's agenda maintains that state of control

The imposition on society of arbitrary dichotomies like "Red State/Blue State" is a very well-known, well-researched method of control, that's for sure. Seems to work every time, unfortunately.

GravatarI'll give SWR the short reason why we're in Iraq.

We ARE there to put the fear of God into terrorists and terrorist wanna-bes. Victory in Iraq requires an investment, a look toward the long term future. Terrorism won't be defeated in five years, and maybe not in ten years. It might take a long time for victory, but we will indeed see victory, and we will reap the benefits in a much more friendly (and pro-Israel?) Middle East.

Normally, American politics is set up for the short fix and not the long investment. However, with the ascendance of conservative values, we have not only held the government for the last ten years, but we'll probably be in power the next twenty years (thank you, Misters Gore, Dean, and Kerry). As a result, we have the power to stay the course in Iraq without losing the political capital provided by the weak-kneed.

Whereas liberals generally abandon any project at the first sign of trouble. Take Vietnam. They were quite happy to turn over the South Vietnamese to the Communist North. They basically abandoned the democracy they set up. "Sorry, kid. Better you than us! We're skedaddling!" Whenever a war gets tough, liberals get going -- in the other direction. Liberals are about as resolute as the French are brave.

And we have a president in George Bush who will be resolute, who isn't poll driven like Clinton, who isn't for something before he's agaisnt it, like Kerry.

Conservatives believe in the long investment, an investment in human hope and spirit, an investment that freedom means something worth having. Liberals are in for the short fix, the "what's in it for me?" Freedom isn't worth fighting for. My question is: if freedom isn't worth fighting for in Iraq, then where IS it worth fighting for?

We will indeed stay the course. And liberals can either lead, follow, or get out of the way. As Churchill might have said, "In Iraq, we shall never surrender."

GravatarSheehan is on the record has saying Iraqis were freer under Saddam

They were. Women, in particular.

It doesn't mean Saddam was good. It means Bush failed.

GravatarRobert, Churchill was an anti-Semite. Why do you hate Jews?

GravatarCindy Sheehan made me dumb.

Gravatar in southern Ohio they were all covered over with Paul Hackett For Congress bumperstickers.
Mrs. Ibrahim al-Jaafari | 08.13.05 - 3:24 pm | #

Lost again, huh?

Gravatarher son's death justifies her evading her taxes

well, of course that's not a valid reason. You gotta justify not paying taxes as "theft" like Robert there, or justify it by not wanting to give money to the EEEEVIL ZOG so they can oppress good white Christian patriots. THEN it's okay not to pay taxes.

GravatarWhy would an anti-semite blow so much political capital with the Arabs to save Israel.

Skin color?

After all the rebublican party is the party that hates anything but white skin.

GravatarAs Churchill might have said, "In Iraq, we shall--

drop poison gas?"

Because that's what he did say.

GravatarRobert | Email | 08.13.05 - 3:30 pm | #

No arguments, just sloganeering.

Chris Hedges calls this "the Linda Blair syndrom".

We used to call it the "Linda Blair effect" in Bosnia. You think you've suddenly found the one, normal person that you can have a rational conversation with, and then after 15 minutes their head starts to spin around. It's just amazing how almost everyone becomes infected with the rhetoric of wartime, and they just parrot back the clichŽs they're handed. Whatever disquiet they feel, it's as if they can't express it. They're robbed of language.

GravatarIsrael should be wiped out

Don't suppose you have a link for that, big guy?

GravatarBasically, Cindy thinks that Israel is "occupying" Palestine and that her son's death justifies her evading her taxes.

I am willing to bet that this troll was, before he caught sight of Dear Leader's Codpiece and fell hopelessly in lust, was a good ole middle Murkin Jew-hater. I am willing to bet that the words "kike" and "heeb" passed his lips on a regular basis. But now that Fieth & Co. told him to shriek "Anti-Semite" any time anyone questions Israel he is a great defender of the Jewish people.

But he would never ever have one to his house.

And he's desperate -- desperate -- to get into his local country club. You know, the one that doesn't admit Jews.

And if his daughter came home with one? Whoa! Then you would see some lead fly.

But question Israel's actions in the mid-east? Go ahead: shriek it, son. "Anti-semite!"

You're pathetic.

GravatarSheehan already got to meet with Bush. She liked Bush then. She didn't bring up any of her recent moonbat claims then. Her loss. Just because her son died doesn't give her infinite opportunities to bother the President while he's hard at work.

front-to-back cut-and-paste rovetroll.exe. the "hard at work part" made me laugh, almost sounds like parody troll stuff. not very funny, though.

Gravatar As well, Cindy thinks Iraqis were freer under Saddam Hussein.

Under Islamic law as commonly interpreted in Iraq, women are worth only half as much as men in matters such as marriage, divorce, child custody and inheritance. For example, when family members die, women are eligible for only half the inheritance that their male relatives receive, according to this legal tradition.

The women, who have won the support of former prime minister Ayad Allawi, plan to write to Iraq’s political leaders as well as the United States to ask for their support in ensuring that laws passed in 1959 guaranteeing civil rights be maintained.

Suhail said they have chosen blue as their symbolic colour.

“Blue is the colour of heaven and water, which are the basic sources of life - and women too are the basic source of life,” said Suhail, whose group includes Hamid Majid Musa, the (male) head of the Iraqi Communist Party, as well as female parliamentarians.

Under Saddam Hussein, Iraq was largely a secular society. But since he was ousted, the country has become more religious and insurgents have targeted women, particularly those who don’t wear a headscarf.

GravatarPeople were freer under Saddam Hussein?

Are you crazy?

Saddam Hussein is the guy who would have you killed for questioning him. Saddam Hussein's sons raped multiple women.

I knew you all were Saddam apologists!

GravatarAs well, Cindy thinks Iraqis were freer under Saddam Hussein.
Gary Ruppert

She's right.

See, that's the problem with you Americans: you drop this "freedom" word around without ever defining it. Sheehan has it right, and you don't even know what she's talking about, because "freedom" doesn't mean anything to you except "my side is right."

GravatarNow, you say Sheehan is anti-semitic because a website that discusses her situation also has a pic of a protester holding a map of Palestine.

If someone had any sense they would conncet the fact that the treatment of the Plaestinian is a root cause of anti-semitics. Remember when Prince Bandar went to Tx? He had to take a photoalbum to show Dimson the reason for the those feelings?

Gravataranyways

GravatarThe whole history of Zionism is fraught with European guilt trying to get rid of their own anti-Jew problem. They had no business colonizing the mideast to fix a bigotry problem based in Europe.

GravatarTake Vietnam.

All right, SWR, since you're the genius.

Why DID the liberals call for the abandonment of the South Vietnamese to the tender mercies of Uncle Ho?

GravatarI wouldn't be like that if I were President.
Gary Ruppert | Homepage | 08.13.05 - 2:49 pm

remember that popeye cartoon where olive oyl sings "if i were president"? "...and ice cream cones would only cost a ceeeeeeeent..."

GravatarWe ARE there to put the fear of God into terrorists and terrorist wanna-bes.

And the WMD thing that Bush talked about in 2003?

See, that's revisionism. And it's dumb. Consider youself cockpunched, stupid little boy.

GravatarRobert, why aren't you in Iraq? You conservatives want to fight for freedom, right? So why aren't you in Iraq?

GravatarWhy DID the liberals call for the abandonment of the South Vietnamese to the tender mercies of Uncle Ho?
Robert | Email | 08.13.05 - 3:33 pm | #

Nixon was a liberal?

GravatarOh, nice, Robert - a long comment answering Why we are in Iraq, nothing, zip, nada on why Terri Schiavo's parents were justified in throwing a 12year tantrum over Terri and her husband's wishes, but Cindy Sheehan isn't justified in protesting the death of her son.

You wingers are completely dishonest intellectually, and every other way.

And I think Robert hit the cliche jackpot in that comment. "Stay the course," "lead, follow or get out of the way," "Bush is resolute," yadda yadda yadda.

I could have plugged in a winger answer-bot and it would have spit out the same useless fucking shit.

GravatarI guess all this pro-Israel blathering is suppose to make the Jews forget that they were discrimanated against for so long.
I'm pretty sure that all those country clubs and such were not owned by liberals.

Gravatar"Still the questioned has not been answered."

I answered it at length in the first of your threads today on the subject, but Haloscan ate it.

Not quite as laughable as you "Fuckers" night time reading, but it was equally fast and loose with the facts, and demonstrated almost zero knowledge of the history of Iraq and the current goals of the coalition and Iraqi government.

Pay me and I will write it a second time. Otherwise, continue on with your support for the troops!

Oh, and my question still has not been answered. When is Atrios going to write, not copy and paste someone else's, not post laughable allusions to things that never happen, not mischaracterizing the statements of others to paint them in the worst light possible, when is Atrios going to post his solution to the problems we are facing in Iraq?

Does Atrios want the coaltion to pull out Monday? I dont know, unless he copied and pasted that sentiment from someone else, he has never made his position clear.

Does Atrios support the writing of a new constitution in Iraq? Also not sure, but rest assured he will mock the entire effort if there is the slightest delay.

Does Atrios value the views and opinions of American soldiers currently serving in Iraq, Afghanistan and the Middle East? Also not clear. Unless they are virulently anti-Bush, they have never been quoted here. But rest assured, there deaths will be used to furthur his extreme rhetoric daily whether or not they agreed with his position. And since he is so poll happy, look at the last election from a military standpoint to see where their political allegence lies. Though Atrios is not above speaking for them.

So how about it? The questions still have not been answered. When is Atrios going to state his positions on the policies he is working to undermine daily?

Be a man instead of hiding behind the words of others.

I never supported the actions of Terri Schiavo's parents. I thought that Terri was not sentient and that Mr. Schiavo was justified.

But then again, that's the canned response I expect from a liberal answer-bot.

GravatarCindy Sheehan is a tool of the far left.

GravatarPay me and I will write it a second time.

1-800-GOARMY awaits you, 'Cog'.

GravatarWe ARE there to put the fear of God into terrorists and terrorist wanna-bes.

What a stupid comment.

STUPID. STUPID. STUPID.

Get your head out of your ass.

Muslims believe god is good. Not some helfire and damnation kind of christian god. They believe when they meet their god they get 12 virgins. SHit can't you figure out that meeting god would be a good thing in their view? Of course you believe that virgins are bad... Or waot, you think only married... Oh wait. Fuck , I have no idea. You people are just too stuck on this god thing.

Get religion out of your fucked up thinking.

They want to meet god. You want to meet god. You both have something in common.

Work it the fuck out.

HYPOCRYTES!

All of you God fearing assholes!

Fuck I'm sick of the god this and the god that.

GravatarHasn't every President since Nixon (except Clinton) been cited as blaming the Jews for many problems in the U.S. & Middle East?

GravatarDoes Atrios want the coaltion to pull out Monday?

The Assministration will do just fine.

GravatarI'll add that there was a slogan for Israel's establishment made around 1946 or so: "A people with no land for a land without people." Very nice rhetorically, except there were around a million living in the land without people.

500,000 dead American boys and 2,000,000 dead Vietnamese wasn't enough?

pretty willing to throw away OTHER people's lives for your viewpoints there, Robbie.

GravatarI will note that I firmly opposed the murder of Terri Schiavo.

There's no comparison between the Schlinders and Sheehan.

For one, the vast majority of Sheehan's family is against her protest.

GravatarRobert -Vietnam is open to tourism and isn't the Communist hell-hole you wingers predicted it would be.

Neither is the rest of southeast Asia, and that was the point, right? Save the other countries from becoming dominoes? What happened, Robert? None of the predicted catastrophes came to pass.

In the meantime, the United States government has been very busy selling the country to the Communist Chinese.

GravatarThe Jewish people have every right to all of Israel. Just because I don't want my daughter to marry one doesn't make me anti-semetic.

GravatarAlmost wish I had cable so I could see this: a "roast" of a braless Pam Andersen at which Courtney Love apparently loses it (again):

But that top - which can be seen straight through when the lights shine on it - may actually be among the least scandalous elements of the sick yet riveting roast, which was filmed Aug. 7 at Sony Studios in Los Angeles.

Among the most scandalous moments : jokes about genitals; the self-consciously scummy, diseased personas of almost everyone on the dais; and Courtney Love, the bloated musician, who throughout the proceedings acted as if she belonged in an institution. Again.

With Ms. Love thrashing around, it can be hard to remember that it is Ms. Anderson's night. Smoking cigarettes, Ms. Love heckled the comedians and flipped people off, regularly flashing her underwear and pulling up her top. When not lurching toward center stage in raw bids for attention, she slumped so far down in a white sofa that some of the male comedians - particularly the M.C., Jimmy Kimmel - appeared to prop her up. Toward the end of the roast, she reclined entirely.

GravatarBasically, Cindy thinks that Israel is "occupying" Palestine and that her son's death justifies her evading her taxes.

Israel is occupying Palestine.

As for the other horrible thing you mention, Cindy is engaging in the age-old practice of war tax resistance. You fuckers don't want to pay for abortions? I don't want to pay to suck the brains out of Iraqi kids and get the Casey Sheehans of the world killed in a useless war.

You can argue that:

1.) We invaded Iraq partly to help the Israelis.

2.) Iraq and Israel have nothing to do with each other.

If #2, then Cindy Sheehan's position the Israelis or anybody she's associated with is as relavent as their favorite color.

If #1, say hello to Justin Ramaindo. You and he would probably get along pretty well.

GravatarDoes Atrios want the coalition to pull out Monday?

Wasn't the CPA was dissolved over a year ago. The troops that serve in Iraq now serve in support of the Iraqi gov't. They are policemen in affect.
There is not supposed to be a coalition of foreign troops anymore is there.

GravatarThe US army needs you, Robert and Gary. If we lose in Iraq, it will be your fault. You refused to go when the Army needed people. The people in Ohio who died requested 1000 reinforcements and were refused. If you two had joined, only 998 more would have been needed. And I'm sure LGF and FreeRepublic could have provided that.

If you want to stay, you need a draft and more troops. Period.

GravatarI think his only "solution" is "RETREAT!!"
Robert

I wouldn't presume to speak for A-man, but "retreat" sounds pretty good to me. I mean, you can do it now, with fewer than 2,000 American dead, or you can do it next year, with 4,000 dead, or you can do it the year after, with 10,000 dead. And the more you wait, the more fucked up things are going to be without you after you leave, so you may as well leave now and just leave them majorly fucked up, but not majorly, majorly, majorly fucked up.

This American exceptionalism has got to stop: what makes you think that America, of all countries, is immune to failure? And fail you surely will, unless the actual goal is to fuck things up majorly, majorly, majorly.

GravatarWhy does a troll answer its own posts?

Is it debating with itself?

GravatarHave had to give up on the gardening until at least dusk; it's just too darn hot. But the wireless is very cool because I can sit here on my screen porch w/ the ceiling fan and browse the blogs. I'm an old dog, but I can learn some new tricks. I hope the tail end of Irene brings us some rain in a few days, though.

GravatarI love it when the brownshirt talks to itself. Maybe "they'll" start arguing next - I always get a kick out of that! Kinda reminds me of "Manster"...

Not so happy about the fact that he spends his time thinking of me while he jerks off, though.

Oh well - c'est la vie!

GravatarSo, why did the US invade Iraq? And why are 134,000 US troops still there?

Gravatari want the war to last long enough

I vote for No. 1.

GravatarI didn't say Casey Sheehan wasn't murdered.

Casey Sheehan was murdered by sub-human terrorist monkeys

If we hadn't invaded their country, they wouldn't have turned into terrorist monkeys.

Bushco manufactures terrorists.

GravatarHere's a central paradox of the Iraq war that no hawk has ever been able to explain.

A truly democratic Iraq would most likely not support Israel.

A pro-Israel Iraq would most likely not be democratic.

So do you want to create a new enemy for Israel, or do you want to deprive the Iraqis of freedom?

GravatarHow can we win a war when our military has no concept of how to win a fourth generation war?

GravatarAfternoon, all`

Been off-line for two days.

Anybody wanna give me the short
version?

Gravatar This American exceptionalism has got to stop: what makes you think that America, of all countries, is immune to failure? And fail you surely will....

So much for "supporting the troops".

GravatarBut the wireless is very cool because I can sit here on my screen porch...

We say screened-in porch just a few mere miles from you in DC.

GravatarThe problem with Robert's views on Vietnam is that he doesn't know history.

He thinks that "liberal democrats" wanted to "cut and run".

"Liberal Democrats" are the ones who put the US military in Vietnam in the first place. Johnson wanted to build some type of whacked out Marshall Plan.

The only reason that both liberal Democrats and Conservative Republicans wanted to pull out of Vietnam by 1970 was the reality on the ground. Both knew the war was unwinable. Both acknowledged reality.

That's why Nixon (no liberal Democrat) extracted us from the country.

GravatarYes, she's being joined by many people, whether they've lost children or not. I've been thinking about going down there, but I'm not entirely convinced it's the right time yet.

Excellent. But I think a march from Crawford to D.C. would take too long, and the news media would grow bored with the story. I like the pacing strategy, though. If she keeps up her vigil in D.C. I have every intention of spending some time with her. Run errands, contribute money, kiss her feet. Whatever she needs to keep up strength. I love this woman.

GravatarYou can say 'we' after you make that call to 1-800-GOARMY.

even today's Army has its limits. the trolls don't get their pictures in the DSM-IV for nothing ya know

GravatarRuppert - you are a fucking tool.

Terri Schiavo was not murdered. There have been 9 - 9 trials and every one of them reached the same fucking conclusion, as did the autopsy.

Anyone who makes that claim about her husband is insane. You are making that claim in the face of years' worth of overwhelming evidence that says otherwise, and said so and said so and said so.

You never did answer me, because you can't. Because all you do is parrot what you are told to say by the Bushistas and the Religious Right. You're brain dead your own self.

GravatarRobert, what's the FBI number for death threats?

WGG just maid one to the both of us.

Gravatarsimels !!! Everyone has been asking for you, baby.

GravatarTerri Schiavo was murdered by her husband.

No she wasn't. She died years ago because of a freak medical event, perhaps tied to her bulimia. Her husband followed her wishes. Her parents made her into a spectacle and got Congress fucking involved in a private end-of-life decision.

Casey Sheehan was murdered by sub-human terrorist monkeys.

Wait, so we're not at war, then?

The Left has a plan for Iraq.

Cut and Run.

That will only embolden terrorists to go to this nation and destroy our cities.

Yeah, god knows we should station troops in a sovereign nation we invaded, where they're not wanted. Of course they hate us because of our freedom. It has nothing to do with our sponsoring coups and propping up brutal dictators, then killing hundreds of thousands of their civilians when they get uppity. You're right! How could we have been so STUPID...?

Gravatar Why does a troll answer its own posts?

Gravatar Robert, what's the FBI number for death threats?

Gravatar "You have two choices:

1.) Cut and run.
2.) Start a draft and put 300,000 troops in the country.

Putting 300k or even 500k or lets go really extreme and put a million over there.

All it does is increase the death rate for american troops.

Nothing more.

Our military has conceded it has not teh knowledge of how to beat these guys. THey did'nt before the war, and don't now. Nor is it likely they will anytime soon.

GravatarIt is of course, one of many paradoxes of the Iraq war, identified by me before the war even started.

GravatarWGG just maid one to the both of us.

Was it a French Maid threat?

Gravatarsimels ... Here's an update:
1) Gary Ruppert, Cog, and Robert are still fighting the war of Terri Schiavo.
2) Gary Ruppert, Cog, and Robert still think Howard Dean is mean.
3) Gary Ruppert, Cog, and Robert still think Michael Moore is fat.
4) Gary Ruppert, Cog, and Robert are still in a froth over that blow job Clinton got.
5) Gary Rupper, Cog, and Robert are still on the outside of elite GOP circles, otherwise, they'd be offline in the Hamptons or Nantucket and not online with a bunch of loser moonbats.

That's pretty much it.

GravatarAnd another very important thing - the country feels depressed and divided. Bush's agenda maintains that state of control - very fascist manouvers.

The Bushies have tried to divide us (further) politically, manufactured the red state/ blue state crap, pitted religions and the military against each other, et cetera.

Meanwhile, the Bushies get to do whatever they want. But I'm not sure Americans are that polarized. The media feed that perception.

Actually, I think most people in this country want the same things.

Gravatar"we're clearly defeating them each and every day."

GravatarSo - the Iraqi resistance controls just about everything outside of the Green Zone, which they even occasionally bobm or lob mortar rounds into, and the Iraqi constitution is looking to enshrine shaira as the law of the land, which means we've just created another Islamic republic, and we've got soldiers harassing Iraqis and taking over their houses and stationing themselves in Saddam's palaces, and the WMDs we went there to find STILL haven't been found and were never there to begin with, and we've created a massive terrorist training ground complete with unguarded high explosive depots for easy access...

...but victory's just around the corner and we can't possibly leave.

And it's the LEFT who knows nothing about strategy, politics, or history?

GravatarWas it a French Maid threat?

It was a milk maid threat. Because Bobbert and Buppert (both emanations of America's Memory, schizoid puppet-troll) are pasty-faced and like fiddling with cows.

So much for intellectual honesty.

I understand that in your bizzaro world that not supporting war is somehow dissing the troops. I understand that you think acknowledging reality is somehow dissing the troops. I understand that you and your ilk believe that questioning the preznit is somehow dissing the troops.

What I don't understand is how you are capable of feeding yourself and not shitting in your bed with your obvious Schiavo-level mental faculties. And I say that with great sympathy and compassion, and a sincere interest in getting to the bottom of your entire story.

GravatarHere is an NYT review of "Junebug."

When you said this...

The Bushies have tried to divide us (further) politically, manufactured the red state/ blue state crap...

...it reminded me of reviews of the film, which described it as this class of red/blue "values" and all this other crap. The movie was about a southerner going home to his parents' with his new city slicker wife, but the film was not at all hysterical about this alleged "divide." I'm not doing a great job of describing it, but my point is that even film reviewers are not beyond swallowing the red/blue crap.

The U.S. should keep the number of troops as it is now. The U.S. should withdraw some troops from Iraq. OR, The U.S. should withdraw all of its troops from Iraq."

I wonder why Atrios is supposed to be responsible for cleaning up BushCo's mess?

I think most of us offered our "solution" a long time ago, when we said "invading Iraq is a stupid idea, and it won't turn out at all well."

GravatarSomebody looking for a nice map of Palestine? Here ya go, altho I'm sure it won't be what somebody or another declares is required. GravatarThe burden was on him to prove his claim, he didn't do it, and unfortunately the courts didn't do the right thing.

GravatarThe courts all said he did.

now now, we all know that law only has power if it is in support of right-wing interests. otherwise its just activism.

GravatarThe burden of the proof was on Michael Schiavo, and he didn't prove his claim

GravatarGary, the autopsy proved that Terri Schaivo was brain dead, a similar autopsy on you would be redundant.

GravatarIf it hasn't been said before there truly is only one reason why we invaded Iraq.

Because a depraved moron wanted to feed his ego and become a "war president," while getting vengeance on Saddam and simultaneously pleasing his chief patrons, the Saudi royal family and Big Oil.

Yeah. Actually, I compiled a bunch of quotes from the likes of Michael Savage and Debra Saunders that made exactly the same arguments the Left made about Iraq, in terms of it being a disaster that would have no conceivable end.

Except, of course, that the Left was entirely correct, whereas Debra Saunders' dark imaginings never really came to pass...

Most "liberals" didn't support it to begin with.

Yep, so true. We can begin the healing by changing our priorities to reflect this new reality-- by spiritually taking responsibility for our stupid leader's blindness, while taking far better care of each other.

The era of human beings treating other equally precious human beings in a predator-prey relationship is flat-out OVER.

All of us are equally worthy of deep respect, and we are capable of solving problems through dialogue based on the mutuality of that respect.

Our worst enemy, and our best friend are both WITHIN OURSELVES. Gotta control and subdue our own internal demons, then watch as the world around us changes...

Gravatarwe all know Robert's a coward, which is why he refuses to enlist for the Noble Cause.

fortunately, the supply of Depends at Robert's local wal-mart hasn't been diminished. plus, the little yellow elephant the Depends people are now affixing to their product makes them fashionable as well as utilitarian.

GravatarGallup is the most GOP-leaning polling outfit. If they're showing that a SOLID MAJORITY of Americans are against the war, then you are in a world of hurt.

What samples did Gallup use for their poll?

Become a Young Republican. The TANG dodge doesn't work anymore.

GravatarThe only way we're leaving Iraq is if entire battalions desert which will eventually happen because there isn't enough political will here to get them out. The reserve components will be the first.

GravatarI've already done my time in the first Gulf War. It's time for you wingnuts to step up to the plate.

GravatarYeah. Actually, I compiled a bunch of quotes from the likes of Michael Savage and Debra Saunders that made exactly the same arguments the Left made about Iraq, in terms of it being a disaster that would have no conceivable end.

Except, of course, that the Left was entirely correct, whereas Debra Saunders' dark imaginings never really came to pass...

yeah, funny how that worked. you know, it's funny how they say that liberals lose wars. we sure lost that one. now milosevic is at the hague and rebuilding is progressing there.

but it's always forgotten, isnt it?

GravatarIncidentally, all these "Jewish people" in my neighbourhood have suddenly got me in their front yards. It's seriously kuhl! Look -

"Fence of faith eases families' confinement on the Sabbath
John Faherty
The Arizona Republic
Jul. 29, 2005 12:00 AM
Elizabeth Rothstein could not push her children in their stroller to temple on the Sabbath. Nor could she carry them to a friend's home for Sabbath dinner.

As an Orthodox Jew, she and her family are bound by the laws of the Torah.

There are prohibitions against work, against driving, against using the telephone, against spending money from Friday evening to Saturday evening.

The laws are many and can seem arcane, but they are important to the devout.

One of the most basic tenets is a prohibition on carrying things or pushing things in public on the Sabbath.

So for someone like Rothstein, with a 1-year-old daughter and 3-year-old son, joining her own community on the Sabbath wasn't possible.

But now her life is changed. Two temples near her home have worked with the city of Phoenix, utility companies and private citizens to establish an eruv.

An eruv (pronounced a-roove) can turn an entire community into a private domain, but it needs to be an enclosed area. Of course building a wall around a 10-square mile area in Phoenix was not possible.

So, led by Rabbi Chaim Silver, Rabbi David Rebibo and attorney David Goldstein, the temples devised a way to use everyday items like power poles and electrical wires, to help build this "wall" for the community's 200 or so families.

The barrier is continuous and made of real things, but most people will never notice it. It is a wall that takes some faith to see. There are approximately 200 eruvim worldwide.

The Phoenix eruv consists of some fences along peoples' property, but the vast majority of it is powerlines.

Some poles needed to be erected, and many needed to be altered or modified, but most were fine the way they were. With help from a grant from the Jewish Community Foundation, the Phoenix Community Eruv paid for the project. The Hebrew word eruv means to mix or blend or integrate. In a practical sense, the Phoenix eruv mixes the private and public domains, so that people can follow the laws of the Torah and still come together.

The two temples that led the effort to build the eruv are located in North Central Phoenix. Young Israel is at Seventh Street and Maryland Avenue and Beth Joseph is near Seventh Street and Bethany Home Road.

Today when the sun sets, Rothstein and her young children will no longer feel cut off from their own community.

"Shabbas has been confined to the house, but now we get to be with other people on this day," said Rothstein. "It will change our lives."

The project began when Phil Gordon was a councilman in the 1990s. "This is just another example of how the faith community, the city and the private sector can work together," said now Mayor Gordon. "This is what local government is intended to do, and we were happy to do it."

Rabbi Silver likens it to a backyard, which is usually just a fenced-in area with grass.

But a backyard is where children can play, where people can get away from the everyday pressures of the world, where a family can come together and relax.

"An eruv is part of an infrastructure to build a community," said Silver.

"It allows us to live like Americans, while still being faithful."Building the eruv was a lot of work. Many of the power poles had to be modified to make them work in the construction. Sometimes new cables had to be strung between the poles or small pieces of wood had to be attached to ensure they were in accordance with rabbinical guidelines.

The rabbis worked closely with Salt River Project, Arizona Public Service Co. and the telephone companies to make sure they were following the laws of the Torah, without breaking any laws of the city or state against modifying power poles or lines.

Each week, people from the temples will inspect the eruv to make sure it is intact. If it is not, the prohibitions return.

To Silver's delight, everyone was very willing to work with his community, even on something as difficult to understand as an eruv.

Buzz Filleman of Sturgeon Electric Co.'s Line Division, worked with the rabbis and David Goldstein to learn what needed to be done and devise the best way to do it.

Filleman described the project as, "not complex but very exacting. Everything had to be just right to meet with their laws. I learned a lot. It was very interesting."

He came away from the project with an appreciation of how much work it has been. "It was the huge personal commitment from those men that was very impressive to me.""

It wouldn't stun me if it was true.

GravatarRight after Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, and Richard Myers offer something besides *we have to stay the course*, as six more people die.

They don't even have that message under control anymore. Look at all the press releases about troop withdrawals lately. 30,000 troops? 60,000? They never have had a clue as to what they're doing over there, but now it's just more obvious which is why their poll numbers continue to tank.

GravatarGWPDA,

I will definitely get Arthur a t-shirt! He'll look so suave!

GravatarFlashback to 1970. Two soldiers in Vietnam.

Soldier 1: Hey Nam sucks. But at least it has a lot of good drugs and beautiful women.

Soldier 2: Dude. I just had a dream. We were still in Nam but it was in the desert. Not only was there a shortage of good drugs, but the local women were all clothed from head to foot in some sort of sackcloth and if you even touched one you could get your head cut off on film.

Soldier 1: No way dude. That's some bad acid you're taking.

They sure do have a similar style of writing. Patterson gave up his more rococo stylings a while back, in favor of robotic, affectless pronouncement. And Ruppert does indeed seem to be carrying on that great work.

Why not both?

GravatarHey, steve simels! Just pointing out that not only have I used the word 'yclept' accurately and appositely for some time, I have also just thrown in "lagniappe".. This is as much as I can do however without being accused of pretension and unwomanly behaviour.

GravatarI will continue to vote GOP at the local level

Not I. Not if the candidate has been known to support this administration's policies...

GravatarUm, I thot the war was sposed to demonstrate the triumph of upright Conservative values over decadent Liberal values:

Corporatism over Democracy

Torture over Human Rights

Unilateralism over Multilateralism

Secrecy over Open Government

Partisanship over Everything

Etc.

Isn't this straight from the PNAC playbook? Isn't this sposed to enshrine the Permanent Majority?

Isn't this exactly the reason they've failed so miserably?

As a Paranoid, Pot-smoking, Punk-rocker I have to admit that I have not sensed hardly an iota of confusion about any of this on the government side in the last three years. Their clear-minded consistency is almost admirable.

Neo-Cons love freedom in EXACTLY the same way Rick Santorum loves homosexuals. That is, with an Absolute Sincerity based on Absolute Truth that is meaningless in a real world context.

Maybe that's why Andrew Sullivan and Dan Savage are so confused about the war. They don't understand Santorum's appeal to homosexuals either.

I mean, golly, isn't Santorum better than Saddam?

Oops, I meant, isn't Santorum better than Satan? How could any reasonable gay man be opposed to such a civil, loving Christian man? Isn't it selfish to expect anything better than the loving sincere belief in American values represented by the far right? They are Sincere after all.

GravatarGod, a Saturday afternoon and there are over 600 comments?

GravatarMost people ~ especially Jews ~ think I'm Jewish because of my last name, Stein.

In work situations, I'm always getting little e-mails from people who assume I'm part of the Jewish culture.

Last week, this guy, last name is Kleinman, returns and e-mail to me with the following statement"

"Pssst. Shiva."

I'm thinking, like, "Oy."

How do you respond to statements like that when you're not a Jew? I just let it go, but it cracks me up...

Gravatar"I think the left is exactly right in letting you own your fuck up, troll.

Sad you will apparently never understand that the demons you hate with such fervor are all within yourselves...

GravatarHow do you respond to statements like that when you're not a Jew? I just let it go, but it cracks me up...

Well sugar, in that particular case, you respond by saying, I'm terribly sorry. Otherwise, you say, thanks for thinking of me, but I'm not Jewish. It's pretty simple. It's along the same lines as my having to indicate that I'm not actually hispanic.

GravatarI explicated the reasonings why we are in Iraq already this morning. If I must repetitate myself, here you go:

Good morning. This week I met in Texas with Secretary of State Rice, Secretary of Defense Rumsfeld, and the rest of my senior foreign and defense policy advisors. We discussed recent events in Iraq, including the political progress that is taking place in that country. Despite the acts of violence by the enemies of freedom, Iraq's elected leaders are now finishing work on a democratic constitution. Later this year, that constitution will be put before the Iraqi people for their approval.

The establishment of a democratic constitution is a critical step on the path to Iraqi self-reliance. Iraqis are taking control of their country, building a free nation that can govern itself, sustain itself, and defend itself. And we're helping Iraqis succeed. We're hunting down the terrorists and training the security forces of a free Iraq so Iraqis can defend their own country. Our approach can be summed up this way: As Iraqis stand up, we will stand down. And when that mission of defeating the terrorists in Iraq is complete, our troops will come home to a proud and grateful nation.

The recent violence in Iraq is a grim reminder of the brutal nature of the enemy we face in the war on terror. Our mission in Iraq is tough because the enemy understands the stakes. The terrorists know that a free Iraq in the heart of the Middle East will be a crippling blow to their hateful ideology. And that is why our work in Iraq is a vital part of the war on terror we're waging around the world.

This war on terror arrived on our shores on September the 11th, 2001. Since that day, the terrorists have continued to kill -- in Madrid, Istanbul, Jakarta, Casablanca, Riyadh, Bali, Baghdad, London, and elsewhere. The enemy remains determined to do more harm. The terrorists kill indiscriminately, but with a clear purpose -- they're trying to shake our will. They want to force free nations to retreat so they can topple governments across the Middle East, establish Taliban-like regimes in their place, and turn the Middle East into a launching pad for attacks against free people.

The terrorists will fail. Because we are fighting a murderous ideology with a clear strategy, we're staying on the offensive in Iraq, Afghanistan and other fronts in the war on terror, fighting terrorists abroad so we do not have to face them here at home. When terrorists spend their days and nights struggling to avoid death or capture, they're less capable of arming and training and plotting new attacks on America.

We're also spreading the hope of freedom across the broader Middle East, because free societies are peaceful societies. By offering a hopeful alternative to the terrorists' ideology of hatred and fear, we are laying the foundations of peace for our children and grandchildren.

In the war on terror, our troops are serving with courage and commitment, and their bravery is inspiring others to join them. All of our services met or exceeded their active duty recruitment goals last month, and the troops closest to the fight continue to reenlist in impressive numbers. The Army, Navy, Air Force and Marines are all on track to meet or exceed their reenlistment goals for the year. Our troops know the stakes of this war, and Americans can have pride and confidence in our all-volunteer forces.

In recent days, we have seen again that the path to victory in the war on terror will include difficult moments. Our nation grieves the death of every man and woman we lose in combat, and our hearts go out to the loved ones who mourn them. Yet, even in our grief, we can be confident in the future, because the darkness of tyranny is no match for the shining power of freedom.

The terrorists cannot defeat us on the battlefield. The only way they can win is if we lose our nerve. That will not happen on my watch. Withdrawing our troops from Iraq prematurely would betray the Iraqi people, and would cause others to question America's commitment to spreading freedom and winning the war on terror. So we will honor the fallen by completing the mission for which they gave their lives, and by doing so we will ensure that freedom and peace prevail.

Thank you for listening.

Gravatar" I will continue to vote GOP at the local level"

Only if you cherish the illusion that the cancer has not spread completely, which, according to all the reports appearing daily, it clearly HAS.

The single thing you can count on the universe around you to do, eternally, is CHANGE. Any mindset that runs counter to or opposes this natural truth is dead on arrival, foolish, couterproductive and self-destructive, don'cha know. It opposes the natural evolution of progess, and everything evolves, whether we like it or not.

We each have a choice: We can learn how to dance happily with change, or fight tooth and nail against it to the death, suffering all the way down and never understanding why.

So now that the conservatives have revealed their duplicity and utter brutality, their lust to cling to power no matter what, and how destructive that notion is, why do you still cling to it? You are destroying your own life in the process! Have a little self-respect!

GravatarWant to knowwhat the mystery "Gulf War syndrome" is? It's called Depleted Uranium poisoning and it so far is afflicting over 200,000 veterans of the first Gulf War. Guess what? The Department of "Defense" claims it's harmless and uses it now more than ever, in the armor on Abrams tanks, in tank gun shells' penetrators, in ammunition fired by A-10 'Warthogs'... It's all over Iraq and even breathing in a particle of depleted uranium dust, a single particle lodging in one's respiratory system, is cancer-causing. It even afflicts their spouses and EVEN causes birth defects in their children.
