Speaking of illegal immigration, I got a kick out of this:
California's farm labor contractors and growers are struggling to find enough workers for the summer harvests because tougher border enforcement and competition from the booming construction industry and other sectors are shrinking agriculture's primary workforce: Mexican illegal immigrants.
According to the Department of Labor, 53 percent of the nation's agricultural workforce is composed of unsanctioned foreign laborers. California growers say that the number could be as high as 90 percent in the Central Valley and that they cannot survive without a steady supply of workers.
Farm labor activists who oppose the hiring of illegal workers say the reason farmers are dependent on foreign labor is that they refuse to pay workers higher wages and benefits.
They cite unemployment rates exceeding 20 percent in rural towns such as Huron and Mendota (both in Fresno County), suggesting that the problem isn't so much the supply of workers but their willingness to work under the current wages and conditions.
No shit, Sherlock!
...some say the state's booming construction industry is also siphoning off potential workers. Agustin Cardenas, a farm labor contractor in Dinuba (Tulare County), said his business -- usually a 300-man operation -- was down by one-third.
Jorge Resendiz, 23, switched from agriculture to construction eight months ago after working in the fruit fields for seven years. Resendiz, a native of Mexico's Guerrero state, now lays tile at job sites around Fresno.
More to the point: Who needs a bitch?

captain bareback is beyond contempt. but if the reemergence of the odiuous bell curve is somehow related to illegal immigration, the Dems should not take the bait and use opposition to white supremacist theory to support illegals. best way to eviscerate repukes is to come out strongly against illegals. let smirk and his business cronies defend 'em. illegals bust unions, drive down wages and suck up public services. they are bad for racial and ethnic minorities in this country and it is not racist to be agin' em'. if dems wanna' peel off the yahoos in the red states going nuclear on illegals would stick it to the repukes big time. I think what this book clearly shows is that we need to bring up these inferior races to our own standards of high intelligence, so that all countries of the world can make decisions as intelligently as white-run America does.
I'm mean, we could "cull" them out, but it would take enourmous resources to eradicate stupid races from the planet - a world war of truly epic proportions that would destroy the white economy. You have to be mexican to even think of something so impractical.
Fortunately, nature has given us an ultimate weapon - the penises and vaginas of all these intelligent white folk.
We need to immediately begin a program of rampant, multiracial sex. We need to do nothing but send our sons and daughters into the ghettos of the inner city and the transient farm pickers, to sleep and be slept with and marry. But, every white women needs to have at least one pure white child, because we will need undiluted genes to mix with the second generation of mulatto children to really knock those stupid genes out.
Europe will have to do the same thing of course.
Then, the world. Since our manufacturing jobs will have all moved to inferior brown skinned countries by that point (which doesn't make sense ... but, white people are making that decision, so I guess it is OK), this will solve two problems at once. We will be improving the genestock of the world, AND find good stable working families overseas for our great grand children to move in with.
So we need to start working hard to get this plan into motion. I sugest going to fundementalist churches, which tend to be full of white people (who by nature must be smart), and pass out literature explaining why they must immediately divorce each other and start sleeping with brown and black people. Point out that this won't just be spreading smart genes, but will be a great opportunity to spread the word of God into new communities. Be sure to pass out copies of the book to them, and let them know they can contact the author if they have any questions

Funny you should say that. One summer evening when I was about 8 years old, I wandered out after dinner to play with the other kids in the driveway, as Philly kids will-- or did.
Sometimes parents would also sit out on the back steps, smoking cigarettes or just taking in the evening air or whatever. This evening, a group of kids was standing around Mrs. B's steps, and Mrs. B and her little poodle were standing nearby. She usually took the dog up to the grass median strip (we called it "the plot") to relieve itself.
They were all laughing and looking a a yellowish-brown cylinder sitting on the step.
"What's up?" I asked, and some wag said that somebody had left (the contents of) a can of Play-Doh™ on the step. Pick it up! they encouraged.
In my defense, the object really was perfectly cylindrical and looked like it just might have been popped out of a can. Sap that I was, I indeed reached out and, yes, actually touched the thing and started to pick it up. Just then the un Play-Doh™ sliminess and a whiff of dogshit hit me, and I dropped the disgusting thing while the crowd roared in delight.
Ah, the joys of urban proletarian humor! To this day I despise practical jokes. And it's why I don't engage our trolls, who are essentially the same kind of "Play-Doh™".

Perhaps one of the african or asian languages might, being rooted in cultures more in affinity with the natural world and the germans might be able to concoct one of their jawbreaking compounds, but unfortunately we murcans are left while not speechless at least stutteringly underequipped.

The New York Review of Books tore "The Bell Curve" to pieces. It pointed out that credible sources were chronically taken out of context while studies whose conclusions unambiguously supported of Murray and that dead guy, were from non-peer reviewed journals financed by racist organizations.
Like I said previously, the book claimed to have shown Asians to be smarter than whites by the same margin that whites are supposed to smarter than blacks. I suppose most people reading this have no choice now but to join me in bowing down before our triumphant yellow masters.

Oppose Immigration...it's the polite way to be a fucking racist...
The late Cesar Chavez fought brave and unceasing battles on two fronts.
The first was against wealthy Anglo growers who didn't want to pay Chavez's unionized farmworkers a fair living wage with modern standards of safety and hygiene.
The second was against illegal immigration, as Chavez perceived -- correctly, I would aver -- that the Anglo growers intended to use the increased supply of desperate rock-bottom-wage labor as a cudgel with which to destroy his union.
I suppose that Chavez must have just been a vicious racist all along. Thanks for clearing that up for us.
There really is an honest, non-racist, factually based left-wing case to be made for restricting immigration.
But damn, is it hard to have that debate without being called a bunch of names.
Look at it this way: who are the biggest single boosters of illegal immigration in the country? They are the heirs and assigns of the wealthy Anglos against whom Chavez fought: the ownership class in agriculture, construction, janitorial, et cetera.
Loosely policed borders in a poor and overpopulated world give affluent Republican business owners something that they desperately crave: dirt cheap, submissive, nonunion workers who can't sue and won't strike.
Those workers are not in fact as cheap as they look. Their presence does incur substantial ancillary expenses in health, education and policing. But the *employers* do not pay those costs. Taxpayers pick up the tab.
Privatized profits for GOP businessmen, socialized costs for the rest of us.
It's good old Bushonomics 101. And there are those on the left who shout angrily to defend this policy. Go figure.
how many of you progressive defenders of illegal immigration live in cities where unions have been busted by illegals? show of hands?
nothing is worse for african americans, the dem party's most loyal constituency, than illegal immigration.

nothing is worse for african americans, the dem party's most loyal constituency, than illegal immigration.
My understanding is that the unemployment rate for adult black males in New York City is above fifty percent.
Talk to the people who hire illegal day laborers, and they'll often say things like "Blacks are lazy and steal," which is something that I have had said to my face on more than one occasion.
Where I live, it is common to see roofing contractors sending their Mexican day-laborer help out on steeply pitched roofs, two or three stories up, with no safety rig whatsover. If these guys fall, they're toast. Similarly, on the ground, I see other men being sent into deep trenches with no wood shoring. Desperately dangerous, and a violation of law.
But to the money men, illegal workers are just easily disposable pieces of cheap equipment. A Juan got busted up on the job? Get another one. Plenty more where he came from. It's the same way in other low-wage, high-risk occupations like meatpacking.
I suspect the real reason these contractors won't hire African-American labor is that those guys would, correctly, refuse to work under such manifestly unsafe conditions. And by dint of being legal citizens, black workers have easy standing to invoke OSHA, or the state labor board, or retain legal counsel, with no risk of deportation.
...Near the end of his high school days in Newton, Iowa, Murray and some of his pals went out one night and burned a cross next door to the police station. To my knowledge, the reams of coverage accorded Murray for his pseudo-scientific apologia on behalf of racism have produced only two mentions of this incident. One was in a 1994 New York Times Magazine profile, the other a bit later on the Donahue show. In both instances Murray protested that he had no idea as to the racial significance of cross-burning. There were only two black families in Newton in those days, an old school chum of his added in the Times piece. Well. As it happens, I grew up just 30 miles away from Murray's central Iowa hometown, in an even smaller farming town with no black families at all. But somehow I managed to learn what cross-burning meant by the time I finished high school, and I expect Murray did too.

The most interesting thing a bout the debate over :"The Bell Curve" is how both sides agree with this basic premise- If there is a demonstrable difference between the races, this should lead to some sort of action, be the basis for some sort of public policy decisions, whatever.. There is no notion of accepting the famous pronouncement in the Declaration of Independence at face value: "All Men are Created Equal".
