I'MMA LET YOU FINISH

Gravataraha~

Gravatartwo in a row!

Gravatarthey'll find as many of those people as family farms lost to the estate tax.

GravatarWow, that's cold. Even for the GOP. Damn.

GravatarYuk. Literally, the bodies aren't even cold.

GravatarGet real, millionaires got out before the storm hit.

GravatarFamily farms? Estate tax? Here's the deal: a farm worth enough to be subject to the estate tax -- doesn't kick in until there's more than 200 K at stake, remember -- is more than likely already going to be an "Inc." operation 'cause that's how the family hangs onto their grocery money.

Which is to say, of course, the "death tax" is another GOP lie.

GravatarHabeus Corpus Christie!

GravatarSessions and Kyl. The fucking insane talking to the deranged.

GravatarThey are really setting themselves up on this one.

Assume they do find a storm victim with an estate subject to the tax. Not likely, since the people who had the money to get out of the way did so. But assume they're able to find one.

Their use of that person to "push back" then becomes a specious argument that by letting this one family off the hook for estate taxes, they are somehow helping the families of the estimated 2,000 other victims, all of whom would never be subject to the tax in the first place because, uh, they're FUCKING POOR.

I hope they do find that one lone rich guy who died as a result of the storm, because I'd really enjoy watching them step in this one.

GravatarThey need to pass legislation for an estate tax on poor people, and then move to eliminate the estate tax for both millionaires and poor people.

GravatarKyl is scum.

Fortunately, Jim Pedersen, who got Gov. Napolitano elected, and is both a pretty good Democrat and an AZ native from Casa Grande is going up against him this next election. Kyl is not only scum, he's crooked as most dogs' hind legs, loathes his own constituents and does nothing at all for them. He's been known to run away from them as well. (In case any one wonders, the exact reverse is the case for McCain which is why he will remain.)

Anything Kyl puts his dirty little hands to will be as crooked and horrible as he is.

However, I'm still interested in discussing the merits of tomato aspic, which does not have anything at all to do with either green or multi-coloured Jell-o or jellied gefilte or other fish. The one lives in the world of ladies' tea parties and extremely discreet luncheons and the others, do not. Different cuisines.

GravatarYeah, I saw this on Daily Kos. Couldn't believe it.

Ambulance-chasing is despicable enough but hearse-chasing?!

GravatarIIRC the starting number is waaaaaay more than 200K. It had been about six, then was raised to $1M, I think. One of the Democratic congressmen suggested exempting the first $50M if they'd leave the tax as it stands on everything over that, the Repubs said no way --they want it all gone for the likes of the MARS (family) bitch!

GravatarThe Other Sarah - actually, I think an estate has to be worth in excess of a million for the estate tax to apply. Maybe someone here knows for sure - in the meanwhile, I'll google it.

GravatarI've only heard Kyl on Imus.

Sounds like an obsequious turd to me.

GravatarHow did Time get access to that voicemail?

GravatarOMG --
That is horrible even for the GOP

Happily I must now go recreate

Later, Moonbats!

Gravatartwo really good beers still haven't deadened my hatred of this administration and the republican party

g.o.p. fuck you

.

GravatarA lot of people are going to face hard burdens if we keep the Death Tax on the books.

I know why the Taxocrats want to keep the Death Tax

GravatarHas he found any victims of both the hurricane and the estate tax? "Not yet," Apolinsky says. "But I'm still looking."

I'd say we have nothing to worry about as far as the estate tax is concerned. Unless, of course, Trent Lott drops dead unexpectedly.

GravatarCurrent threshold for the estate tax to apply is $1.5 million, set to increase to $3 million in 2007, $5 million in 2009, and sunsetted in 2011.

GravatarOf course, they can just use the usual tactic, mentioning "death tax" and "the dead of Katrina" in closely related sentences, creating the impression in the (unfortunately vast) gullible that they want to eliminate taxes on the dead poor of Katrina.

The same tactic that made people think Saddam was responsible for 9/11...

Gravatar"If we knew anybody that owned a business that lost life in the storm, that would be something we could push back with."

See? See? Someone died and had to pay taxes! UNFAIR! DOUBLE TRIPLE TAXATION pass on to your heirs whats wrong bias liberal hate class war *poof*

GravatarWow, ghoulishly exploiting Katrina victims for an estate tax...kinda like ghoulishly exploiting dead soldiers to oppose the mission in Iraq.
You and him ought to form a club, Atrios!

LOL!

Gravatareschaton was just shown (briefly, ever so briefly) on cnn as an example of the internets during jeanne moos's piece on bush's bathroom note at the u.n.

tho no mention of the name, or url, or anything that could actually help the blog.

also, to bill o'reilly: duck you!

GravatarThe limit for the estate tax to kick in should be raised, not eliminated. It goes up to 1.5 mil, them it expires in 2010(?) and reverts back to 675K, or something ridiculous. Raise to 3 or 4 mil then leave it alone.

GravatarGaah,

This is horrible.

If we can't kill the goddam estate tax repeal now, there is no hope.

THis tax is the only thing that stands between us and the deatyh of our regulated democratic capitalist system due to overconcentration of wealth. Shit -- the system is on life support already. But this would yank the plug right out of the wall....

Gravataryou know, at this point i'm surprised they haven't used some (fake) image of a black person 'looting' a wal-mart to repeal the voting rights act.

this is close enough of an excuse for me to blogwhore on topic.

GravatarShorter Gary Ruppert:

I'd much rather my kids and grandkids pay off debt plus interest than tax the estates of rich dead people.

GravatarEven Shorter Gary Ruppert:

I are stoopid.

GravatarYou're right, Jennifer. I was going from memory, never a good idea for me.

GravatarThe current tax system should be completely scrapped and be replaced by a flat Income Tax of 15% and a nationwide Sales Tax.

All the other taxes are pretty much meaningless and pains for working people.

GravatarI can see raising the limit, offering an exemption for a (one) primary residence; it really would suck to see someone whose only large asset is an overvalued house get hit with this thing -- I mean come on, we have hearts over on the left.

GravatarWell, my references are from a 2002 estate settlement. I was executrix for my dad.

A family farm, indeed: 160 acres in Yoakum County with no mineral rights and no allotments (fed-speak for price-support eligible acres designated in particular crops) and a 'house well,' which wouldn't support irrigation.

It sold for less than $350 an acre.

GravatarThe rich don't usually pay taxes but they have to be clever with assorted tax dodges.
The death tax may have something interesting buried in the fine print that makes it favor the rich more that one might expect.
Perhaps someone should look into this.

GravatarTheOtherWA - Even better - set the estate tax exemption at the current $1.5 million, and index raising the threshold annually to the CPI. At the same time, create exemptions to address family farms and businesses. Then leave it the fuck alone.

GravatarRepeal of the estate tax would actually benefit me personally. But I'm still against it.

GravatarWhen GHW and Babs kick off, how much money will the Bush family save if the estate tax is repealed? Any guesses?

With all the Carlyle Groups acquisitions, the old man may be a billionaire by now, even if he's one of many owners in TCG.

This wouldn't be a crusade for Little Boots born of selfishness, would it?

GravatarThis wouldn't be a crusade for Little Boots born of selfishness, would it?

It's bigger than that. The regime needs to free up more cash to funnel through the Republican Party.

GravatarHey, thanks to the DA, my estate just went, waaaay up!

Suddenly, I realise I'm, I'm.... I must be a Republican.

Quick, get my lawyer, I must re-draw my will or my heirs will be forced to pay taxes!

Oh. Sorry. UCLA Dept. of History are my heirs.

I'll go back to being a Democrat.

GravatarOh, crap, it (they?) found the new thread...

The radiation is making all of us more stupid as we abide here.

Gravatar"The current tax system should be completely scrapped and be replaced by a flat Income Tax of 15% and a nationwide Sales Tax."

Yes, my child. And remember, income is wages, salary tips. Not dividends, capital gains or stock options ot anything like that. Nice and simple.

GravatarRemember kids.. the Atrios "Crazy Left" says that..

When Republican Jeff Sessions seeks to find examples of Hurricane Victims being victimized by the Estate Tax, that's bad

When Democrat Cindy Sheehan seeks to exploit her dead son to bash Bush, that's good.

GravatarNot that stupid flat tax argument again. Rich people already get too damned much stuff for free. I'm all for a real sliding scale such as the (Swedish, I think it is?) way of dealing with moving citations. The fine is based on your income. If Bill Gates get pinched for running a light -- hello new police station. Now, of course our wingnut chattering class here would whine that people would quit their jobs just so they could make illeagle left hand turns on the cheap. Stupid wingers.

GravatarI have givenup hope on this country getting anything but dumber and poorer. Let them have their little death tax repeal. They're oing to getr it anyway. Fuck it. The faster the end comes. The easier it will be to (hopefully) pick up the peices.

Gravatar"Victims" of the estate tax.

The mind reels.

GravatarYep, we've got the Even Shorter Gary Ruppert with us this evening.

GravatarWhen do we get issued jack boots?

GravatarI hope Atrios enjoys his time as one of the puppetmasters of the DNC.

Soon the DNC will be wiped off of the Earth

GravatarAk Press has an interesting Chomksy CD from 1995, Class War: The Attack On Working People.

Gravatar "Victims" of the estate tax.

The mind reels.

Those poor, poor rich people.

Er, I mean, hard-working farmers and small-business owners.

*sniffle*

GravatarTells us about those "victims" of the estate tax again, troll.

GravatarMy estate planning professor (an old GOPer who actually favored keeping the Estate tax) put it this way:

If you're that rich, and you're still dumb enough to not take advantage of the numerous ways the government provides to get around the tax, then the people should have no qualms about enjoying a "windfall" at your expense.

Ooh, some "common sense," some "personal responsibility," AND maintaining the status quo to keep the rich on top. Even my Rethug relatives don't mind this approach.

None of them are gonna exceed the exempt amount, tho...

Gravatarhave the "panic rooms" been checked?

GravatarMaybe Sessions or Kyl would be willing to suck enough NOLA scum to off themselves, just for the cause.

GravatarThe current tax system should be completely scrapped and be replaced by a flat Income Tax of 15% and a nationwide Sales Tax.

All the other taxes are pretty much meaningless and pains for working people.

Too stupid to understand his income is what will be taxed. and all the things he buys will then have an additional tax on top of the already heavy tax burden sales tax is.

What a fool.

GravatarA lot of the people who are relatives of Death Tax victims are much poorer. They have to give up parts of their inheritence for no good reason.

There's no practical reason to tax most of the stuff we tax, like income, inheritance, capital gains, property, all of that.

Gravatar"much poorer."

Again, the mind reels.

Talk about shitting all over the english language.

Gravatarshould we be worried that yglesias gets a bit wet kiss from Sully?

YGLESIAS AWARD NOMINEE: Hey, a new award, and this time a nice one. It's an award for bloggers - or anyone else for the matter - who are prepared to alienate their core readership with some unpleasant truths. Matt Yglesias wins the first one and gets the eternal glory and fame that comes with a mention on this blog.

GravatarHas anyone ever looked at the impact of a 15% across the board tax? I mean everything - income, dividends, profits - everything. And no exemptions for mortgage interest, charitable contributions, IRA's - nothing. Just whatever you make, however you make it, 15% goes to the federal government.

I don't know what would happen. That's why I'm asking.

Gravatar"two really good beers still haven't deadened my hatred of this administration and the republican party"

keep drinkin but don't know if there's enuf booze in the world to numb ya to hating gooper scum...

GravatarThere's no practical reason to tax most of the stuff we tax, like income, inheritance, capital gains, property, all of that.

*Has* to be parody.

GravatarSoon the DNC will be wiped off of the Earth

Promises, promises.

You resmuglicans never keep your word on anything. EVER!

Gravatarhere's my question: is a troll polluting an internet message board usually a millionaire?

if not, why the fuck do they spout that crap?

you really, truly, absolutely can't take it with you when you die.

it's totally, completely, utterly true that only 1% of the nation's richest are 1% of the population.

it's also true that any analysis of income and wealth trends show a shrinking middle class, and an expanding poor and ultra rich class.

into which of those do our trolls fall?

i've never understood why middle class and poor right wing people will defend the rights of the rich to suck off of all of us. it's not like religion, where the Sky Father commands such. it's not even like abortion, which is another way the right expresses its hatred of women and fear of brown people.

defending the rich, when you're not one of them, is just stupid.

Gravatarshould we be worried that yglesias gets a bit wet kiss from Sully?

Sully's "awards" are just sooooo precious.

.

GravatarI just hate, hate, hate Rethuglicans. Don't you? They drive big ol' SUVs, cause hurricanes, and strangle puppies. Fight the power!

Gravatar"Tax the FUCK out of the churches."

Frank said that.

Gravatarthe amazing thing is that what yglesias wrote is actually news to sully.

not news to me.

Gravatar
defending the rich, when you're not one of them, is just stupid.

I wish I could remember where, but I saw a poll which said something along the lines of: 40% of Americans think they're in the top 10% of income.

I probably don't have the percentages exactly right, but it would certainly explain a lot...

GravatarThere's no practical reason to insist we be paid to work.

--Even Shorter Gary Ruppert.

Gravatarcdyke nails it. The only reason I can think of is sheer spite: "The rich Republicans may be fucking ME over, but at least they're pissing off liberals!! After all, everyone KNOWS they hate ME!!"

GravatarHmmm, good premise for a ghost story. Rich person's ghost haunts the rebuilt New Orleans gated community. The ghost keeps trying to call someone on his ultra-thin conspicuous consumption mobile phone because no one retrieved his body from the sealed panic-room and no one knows the password.

Caller ID's keep flashing "666" when this far away and very pissed off voice keeps calling people at random demanding to know if they know who he is.

Gravatar"Tax the FUCK out of the churches."

Sorry, unconstitutional

Gravatarnot news to me.
Atrios

Well, hell, A., that's no trick....

GravatarOf course, they can just use the usual tactic, mentioning "death tax" and "the dead of Katrina" in closely related sentences....

Too bad they burned that bridge when they equated "the dead of Katrina" with "black welfare freeloaders too lazy or stupid to get out of the way of a hurricane."

Oh well. Their bad. Damn those kidney stones of Karl Rove's!

Gravatar The current tax system should be completely scrapped and be replaced by a flat Income Tax of 15% and a nationwide Sales Tax.

Gary Ruppert

I'll be willing to wager that you'd pay more under that system than you are now.

Plus, you'll spend just as much time doing your taxes as you do now, because it's the computation of income, not the computation of the tax that takes all the time.

Not that you're smart enough to understand what I just said.

Gravatardefending the rich, when you're not one of them, is just stupid.

Word. It is so against their own intrest to think that way, and yet the buy into the propoganda with evey breath hannity and limdick spout.

What we need is an extra large Catapault, to get past the bullshit.

GravatarIt's called estate planning, not rocket science. Trusts and such. Everything goes to the person's spouse scott free. Only after the spouse dies does any type of estate tax kick in.

The goopers are worried some brat will only be a multimillionaire, and might have to work to become a billionaire. Boo fucking hoo.

This country enabled these people to become ultra rich, so don't they owe the nation a tiny bit of it to KEEP THE COUNTRY at the point others can become successful too?

GravatarGeez, the troll sounds like The Eradicator from Kids in the Hall.

[in a cracking, high-pitched voice]

"Another win for the Eradicator! I climb the D-Squash Ladder one rung at a time. Today, you are my rung Armstrong! Don't try to follow me, I have a cab waiting. Eradicator!!"

...

"You will now spend each moment between now and the match worrying. Every minute will be a universe of terror, a marathon of fear!"

Gravatarnow that sully has pissed off powertools, instacracker, phewitt, and the hairless hack, he's looking for love on the left.

GravatarI enjoy what you've been writing for Corrente, CD.

Keep the blogwhoring coming!

GravatarGary Ruppert wants to impose a Sales Tax?

Proof, if anyone needed it, that Gary hates the poor.

LOL! Now go kill yourself.

Gravatar"Tax the FUCK out of the churches."

Sorry, unconstitutional

Just where in the constitution does it say "thou shalt not tax the church"?

GravatarThe overwhelming majority of farms don't qualify for the estate tax anyway.

Any farm big enough to qualify for the estate tax is run by people smart enough to take the proper precautions to minimize the bite.

Time and again highly respected ag economists make those points.

Cargill, the grain merchandising company is, I believe, the largest privately owned company in the world (or is Walmart?) so repeal of the estate tax actually helps the people who make their livelihood making a % rather than producing the commodities.

Doesn't stop the Farm Bureau from pimping for repeal all the time. Can Thomas Frank explain this?

Gravatarerm, i meant to say "the richest 1% are 1% of the population." sorry.

Has anyone ever looked at the impact of a 15% across the board tax? I mean everything - income, dividends, profits - everything. And no exemptions for mortgage interest, charitable contributions, IRA's - nothing. Just whatever you make, however you make it, 15% goes to the federal government.

I don't know what would happen. That's why I'm asking.
Dee | Email | Homepage | 09.17.05 - 7:25 pm | #

iirc, the calls for a flat tax never deal with total wealth, only income. a study like you propose would possibly increase overall taxation, and thus never be supported by our current flat taxers.

people, it's not about a tax on individual wealth. iirc, via my last state tax mailing, corps in this country pay ~3% of their income in taxes. often, even less. to the point of getting refunds while the rest of us pay taxes.

"real" taxation of the individual is something like 60-80%. when you count fees, state and local taxes, sales tax, and other 'built in' taxation costs, a majority of your dollar, spent in any way, goes to your gov't. i saw think years ago in an analysis by a paper, back when we had a free media. only those who live off dividends get any kind of break, that is, people who already have enough in the bank not to work.

but then again, everyone but our troll knows this.

GravatarChurches can stay tax-exempt if they stay the fuck out of politics.

Deal?

GravatarThe thing is that trolls believe that one day the estate tax will apply to them.

Sad.

GravatarP O'Neill--not a chance. He'll be on his knees to the right again in a nanosecond. He can't get over his need to be accepted as one of the kewl kidz.

Gravatarjustice bought justice blind out of sight out of mind
they will be dismissed if they try to resist
a wage is a chain taken on with consent
why own slaves when it is cheaper to rent
no one sees the poverty watching winners on tv
wishing in a well that is dug down to hell
we toss in our coins hoping we too can join
the masters of our fate
but we are too late

Gravatar The thing is that trolls believe that one day the estate tax will apply to them.

I think a lot of Republican voters either think they're rich or that they will be someday.

GravatarUncle Smokes, was that one of yours?

GravatarJust where in the constitution does it say "thou shalt not tax the church"?

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof"

If you tax churches, you make it much harder for them to exist.

As well, I don't see why churches should be banned from talking about political issues.

GravatarTaxing = Prohibiting?

Wow.

GravatarI think a lot of Republican voters either think they're rich or that they will be someday.

Well, we've all have that dream.

But some people think the government is gonna make that happen.

Fools.

GravatarAs well, I don't see why churches should be banned from talking about political issues.
Gary Ruppert

Idiot. No one's making that argument.

But debating a shit-for-brains like you is a waste of time.

Now, how about offing yourself?

GravatarBut some people think the government is gonna make that happen.

But only if we get rid of it!

GravatarEli, like I said: the poor english language will never be the same.

GravatarCongress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof"

Funny, but I dont see any words in that amendment that says anything about taxing the church.

Aint that a bitch?

GravatarJust where in the constitution does it say "thou shalt not tax the church"?

The bit from the first amendment: "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion..."

However, given the increasing politcal role played by many (thus far) tax-exempt religious orginizations, I'd have to say:

If taxation without representation is tyranny, then representation without taxation is skullduggery.

GravatarI can't fuckin' believe Duncan has the brass to call himself an economist. That is just the shit.

GravatarOh, now we get the bargain troll. Sheesh.

GravatarCaptain Goto: yes.

GravatarThere's nothing in the Constitution about taxing churches, dumbass.

They are tax exempt on the basis of being non-profit, non-political organizations. There are quite a few of them already who do not legitimately qualify for tax-exempt status.

GravatarAs to the Church/Tax thing. The deal is the Churches don't pay taxes but they stay out of politics. The churches (some of the red state mega churches anyway) have broken their end of the deal. There have been several instances where churches have violated their tax exempt status restrictions with reguard to for-profit activities forbidden to them under their non-profit charters. The freedom of religion is freedom to practice your religion, not freedom of the church to do any damn thing it wants to.

GravatarGood one, Unc.

GravatarAs well, I don't see why churches should be banned from talking about political issues.

I don't see why everyone isn't allowed to attend speeches by Bush and Cheney.

Or any other political speech/event.

GravatarEli: "think they are that rich or will be someday"

"& if not...well, I'd want the estate tax repealed if I *were* rich!"

s' what I like to call "upward empathy"-- or, as Scott Fitzgerald said about Ernest Hemingway, "he is always willing to give a helping hand to a man on a ledge a little higher up"

GravatarIf taxation without representation is tyranny, then representation without taxation is skullduggery.

And what's really sad is that we've managed to pull off both. The people who are being taxed aren't represented, and the people who are being represented aren't paying taxes.

Sigh.

GravatarAs Jennifer gets in juuuuuust before me. Well done!

GravatarUncle Smokes, that's so cool!

Gravatarsome people think the government is gonna make that happen.

Gosh I don't know of anyone who thinks that. I do know of some people who believe in "We the people" not "ME the people."

That means, you know, helping out your fellow human being.

GravatarChurches that own a lot of property should be taxed on their holdings.

If they run something for profit, and most do, then those proceeds should be subject to taxation just like any other for profit.

GravatarEli, re your last comment, remind me to kill myself later.

"Sigh" is right...

GravatarCaptain Goto and Uncle Smokes - as I said, today we've got the Even Shorter Gary Ruppert troll.

As in:

Even Shorter Gary Ruppert:

I are stoopid.

GravatarThe freedom of religion is freedom to practice your religion, not freedom of the church to do any damn thing it wants to.

Yes. "Practice", not "impose".

GravatarBankrolled by Mr Soros, Euro Economy Wrecker.

GravatarThe British Conservatives have latched on to the flat tax now. They are going round saying how well it is doing in Estonia.

We even had one of your former Republicans, on the BBC saying the flat tax is the most wonderful idea yet, and it is only idiot politicians who will not implement the idea. Because, you know, govt always does things wrong.

Of course the Conservatives won’t say what the flat tax rate would be. Some economist worked it out that at British spending levels, the flat tax would have to be at 37%. So this would mean a huge tax increase for the majority.

Greed is good is taking over the world, bad things are coming!

GravatarThe churches (some of the red state mega churches anyway) have broken their end of the deal.

Tax Joel Osteen.

Tax Rick Warren.

Tax James Dobson.

Tax T.D. Jakes.

Tax Paris Hilton.
oops, wrong church. Tax that bitch anyway.

Gravatar"Tax the FUCK out of the churches."

Sorry, unconstitutional
Gary Ruppert

ha ha hahahahaaahahahahaBWAHAEHAEHAEHAEA

BWHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAA
BWHAHAHAHAHAH

Boy, you are one goofy mofo. Unconstitutional?

You need to enroll in a high school civics class, Einstein. You know about as much about the Constitution as you know about quantum mechanics.

GravatarWhen are the SOros checks gonna be delivered, again?

GravatarThat means, you know, helping out your fellow human being.

Well, yeah, exactly.

As long as they're rich.

GravatarBut only if we get rid of it!

That and tax cuts.

More, please, sez Oliver.

GravatarThis is pretty funny how all you Robespierresque fucktards are obsessing about taxing churches. Oooh, that's so radical.

GravatarThese rich fucks are really getting to me. I'm ready to go Incog on those motherfuckers...

GravatarTax Pat Robertson, for goodness sakes!

GravatarLC, why don't you just call Soros a dirty jew like you know you're dying to.

GravatarDunky would be driving a Yugo without Mr Soros' support.

GravatarUncle Smokes - nice - very.

GravatarYou can take the man out of Plato's Retreat, but you can't take Plato's retreat out of the man. John Bolton:

"Reform is not a one-night stand," [Bolton] says. "Reform is forever."

What "clubs" in NYC might Bolton not be reforming?

GravatarSpeaking of taxing churches, does anyone know what happened to this guy?

http://www.publiceye.org/ifas/fw...9603/ legal.html

GravatarTax Pat Robertson, for goodness sakes!
smalfish

Nah, just take away his diamond mine.

And extradite him to Venezuela.

Good times!

GravatarAnd what's really sad is that we've managed to pull off both.

As Bill Moyers said about "people who turn faith-based initiatives into Karl Rove’s slush fund; who encourage the pious to look heavenward and pray so as not to see the long arm of privilege and power picking their pockets."

GravatarCome the revolution all trolls will be rounded up and sent to re-education camps.

No, not for political correctness; for remedial math ya dumb fucks!

GravatarMaybe the bargain troll thinks that if he posts his black-hole-for-a-brain one-liners here, the few wingers that show up here might smack their foreheads and say, "Oh, NO! Without the bargain troll's witty interjections, I might have slipped away from the warm embrace of wingnuttery and toyed with the idea of having an open mind!!

Or, maybe, he's just a stupid cunt with Mississippi River sewage for brains.

Gravatar"Dirty Jew?" No, that's the underlying sentiment of the Sheehanites. Nice try, though.

GravatarIf we could tax ignorance and willful stupidity we wouldn't have need for this conversation.

Gravatar When are the SOros checks gonna be delivered, again?
smalfish

As soon as Gary Ruppert finishes giving all of us guys blow jobs.

You know, again.

GravatarGreed is good is taking over the world, bad things are coming!

Oh, bullshit.

Greed has always been alive and well.

GravatarTena --

We pay taxes on our proerty (except the land that the church building itself stands on) -- we own a lot of woods -- every decade of so we sell some timber

We receive guests & have a suggested donation, but it is not required -- some people give more -- some have n othing to give (sometimes we feed & clothe people & send them on their way with some money after a couple of days)

We don't sell anything "not directly connected with the purpose of the institute" so as to avoid the whole income tax question

I can't give to political campaigns or work in them

We pay lots of taxes -- but not personal federal income taxes (I have no personal income)

Gravatar"Dirty Jew?" No, that's the underlying sentiment of the Sheehanites. Nice try, though.
Lenin's Cock

Jesus. Rove is paying for this shit?

GravatarDunky would be driving a Yugo without Mr Soros' support.

I actually got a glimpse of Atrios' Ferrari. That Mr. Soros is one generous fella! I hope he notices my many talents!

.

GravatarCentral - that's not gonna happen, because if we taxed those, Chimpy would be a pauper.

GravatarThis is pretty funny how all you Robespierresque fucktards are obsessing about taxing churches. Oooh, that's so radical.
Lenin's Cock

And who is this silly motherfucker that is soiling the board?

Lenin's Cocksucker? Rob, is that you?

GravatarIf we could tax ignorance and willful stupidity

...hell, the trolls on this thread alone would pay off 50 years of T-bills.

GravatarJesus. Rove is paying for this shit?

Paranoia will destroy ya. So will your rank fucking stupidity.

GravatarEvenin' moonbats,

Just got here. Wassup? Trolls?

I've been reading up on Grover "Drown the Governmentin a Bathtub" Norquist.

He's married to a Palestinian, and some conservs refer to him as an Islamist.

Funny.

I hate the fucker.

Hi Tena!

GravatarIf you tax churches, you make it much harder for them to exist.

Utter, total bullshit.

Churches aren't taxed because of the notion that they perform services benefiting the public good that make up for the tax.

No one has mentioned that tax benefits the clergy receive. One of my dearest friends is a minister and she gets all sorts of tax write offs normal humans would never imagine.

Of course, I feel she's entitled, she spends 20 hours a day working on behalf of the homeless and the imprisoned. But someone like that fat slob Rick Warren who is rolling in cash from his bullshit driven book ... tax the FUCK out of him.

GravatarAs soon as Gary Ruppert finishes giving all of us guys blow jobs.

You know, again.
David (Austin Tx)

You know, I'm just as gay as the next guy, but I do not want that scumbag slobbing my knob.

Let him suck Ann Coulter's dick. You know he wants to.

Tax Rick Warren.

Tax James Dobson.

Tax T.D. Jakes.

That Osteen guy is beyond creepy.
A fascinating specimen who induces vomiting and nausea. T.D.Jakes also is repugnant in his fancy suits and phony gospel crusade. Why are people so into this crap? Even the youth are putzing around like Children of the Corn with extreme Bibles in hand. I shouldn't post, I can't contain my revulsion towards these sickos.

Sorry

GravatarIt's sad how little influence the rich have on fiscal policy. That tax break on Hummers was an obvious gift to Big Poor.

Gravatarhttp:// seattletimes.nwsource.com..._katcost17.html

Did anyone catch this article (cover story in todays Seattle Times). Scared the shit out of me. Particularly lines like this:

Taxpayers will pay about $208 billion for the fiscal year starting Oct. 1 simply to cover interest costs on that debt. That's more than 25 times next year's $8.2 billion budget for the Environmental Protection Agency, illustrating that exploding deficits impose large costs on taxpayers

GravatarOh, bullshit.

Greed has always been alive and well.
pie

So you are happy about the way the world is going are you Pie?

So I take it you don't mind if Bush gets rid of the death tax. What little fairness in the system that has been put there in the last 100 years is being taken away. So glad you are happy with that.

GravatarWhy do Cindy Sheehan and her supporters hate Jews? Just askin'.

GravatarIf you tax churches, you make it much harder for them to exist.

And?

GravatarSorry if I missed it in this thread, but I recall seeing on a blog recently an item from Newsweek which said that the number of estates in Louisiana, Florida and Alabama currently taxable under the estate tax is something like 1600, or 1/25 of 1 percent. Can someone tell me where to find it? If so, you're swell.

GravatarTax break on Hummers?

Why wasn't I told!!?

(consults escort directory)

Gravatar As well, I don't see why churches should be banned from talking about political issues.
Gary Ruppert

Idiot. No one's making that argument.

i will.

imagine you are a member of a group of 100 people living on an island. imagine that you all share limited resources for food and water, and comfortable living space. you're all equal in that you only have the resources of the island, held in common, although individual traits are just that, and vary.

imagine that 10 of you think planting more coconut trees is a good idea, and they go off and do so. imagine that 10 more think building a hydroelectic generator on a stream is a good idea, and do so. imagine that 10 more think fishing is a good idea, and do so. imagine every set of ten coming up with ways to make something from the island's resources and people, and went off to do so in their own ways.

imagine that all 100 had voted that the groups could trade and share as they saw fit. imagine that this system allowed everyone to do what they wanted, and at the same time produced enough food, water, power and shelter for everyone to live comfortably.

now imagine one group of ten who differed.

instead of working to provide food, shelter or civilization to the group, they decided instead that everyone in the group should give up what they made, grew or built to the Invisible Sky Fairy- by way of his representatives. imagine that the ISF never shows itself, and only "speaks" to its representatives, the nonworking ten. imagine that these 10 demanded that they never had to work, or build or think- so they could spend all their time "communicating" with the ISF. imagine if they told the other 90 people that the ISF should choose the island's leadership, and dictate who got what share of what resource. imgaine the ISF's 'representatives' said that they should always be involved in the important decision making on the island.

in such a system, what would you do?

vote the ISFers off the island, or just eat them?

GravatarA gordon by any other name would smell.

GravatarNice one, cdyke, but the nutjobs will never get past the "limited resources" thing.

After all, the Invisible Sky Fairy will always provide, if you're holy enough.

So sez the practicing Lutheran, anyway.

GravatarCD, bwahahaha! Nicely done.

GravatarPrior - I thought that religious orgs paid taxes on some property.

Here's what I'm talking about. I sound like a broken record, but this county is like a lab sample or something. There is a Christian youth camp called Camp Red Cloud, here. It was started by some people who were probably sincere. Some other people got involved and they somehow raised enough money to buy the adjoining ranch - for $4 million. They aren't affiliated with any church that anyone can find out about. This group is buying property all over the place up here. They have built a huge stable for their huge number of thoroughbred horses.

They aren't the only ones, either. Another "ministry" came in here and bought a lodge.

Every bit of the property I've just described has been taken off the country tax roles. It is killing us and there's no excuse for it. Those orgs should be paying taxes. They are making shitloads of money from somewhere.

GravatarCherchez les juifs.

Gravatarsally, (or are you mush something?),

Why do you insist on putting words in my mouth?

GravatarPrior Aelred reminds me that there's probably a lot of Republican Henry VIII's out there that would leap at the chance to seize Church property.

That is why a religious organization directly participanting in politics is playing a dangerous game.

The Establishment clause is a double protection--to keep government from being dominated by one religious sect, and to prevent government from interfering with religious affairs.

Gravatar“Lenin's Cock “

Shit, girl, that ain't nothing but a tax dodge. As long as the freaking repukes are in control, I guess we can expect such shennanigans.

GravatarSpeaking on behalf of pie, I think it's quite clear she wasn't defending greed, merely pointing out that it is always with us. People now are just more shameless and face far fewer barriers in its unbridled pursuit.

I wish some snarky Dem would introduce a bill to impose criminal charges for avarice, and tout it as Biblically-based legislation.

GravatarAh Prior, if only you and others like you were the representation of Christianity in this country, many of us would lose a good deal of our anger at religion in general. Sadly we are responding to what gets shoved in our faces, and in yours too I imagine. We know there are good folks out there who pray in earnest and spread the gospel in earnest and I assure you, that our ire is not for such as they. The Church had it's turn at ruling nations and let's face it they are no better at it than any other collection of humans. Good intentions not withstanding, the powers that be all too often kept reporting that the voice of God, communicating through the proper chain of command, (i.e. them), had commanded war.

But then, you know all of this. Maybe next year at EschaCon we can capture a troll and show him the instruments. (I keeed, I keeed. A bit.)

Gravatar God the founders of this nation were brilliant. Why do the Republicans hate the founding fathers?

You answered your own question.

Gravatar"Not yet," Apolinsky says. "But I'm still looking."

A competent and functioning left wing noise machine would use this as an example of who the estate tax actually benefits, given that the victims of Katrina were overwhelmingly poor. I have no idea why Apolinsky would give the other side ammunition like that.

Gravatarvote the ISFers off the island, or just eat them?

That was priceless.

I love you, Chicago Dyke...in a confirmed-bachelor-who-knows-Auntie-Mame-by-heart sort of way, of course.

That includes the trolls, who are not poor.

Ah, but it's those damn, dirty Jews they really hate.

GravatarTaxpayers will pay about $208 billion for the fiscal year starting Oct. 1 simply to cover interest costs on that debt.

Oh! In that case, I think we need another round of tax cuts!

Because the other side, sadly, doesn't yet understand that it's at war.

Well yeah.

But as long as the county lets them get away with it - it's a legitimate tax dodge.

i mean: why does the church have so much property, when so many have nothing? and why does the church contribute no taxes to support the services they enjoy with the rest of society...

i consider the padre a friend, especially on the event of our acquaintanceship at EschaCon, but i am not convinced by vows of poverty which stand upon billions in tax-exempt real estate...

Right. Let's see Erika Eleniak try to play a sexy archeologist facing off against a 42-foot mummy. The believability just isn't there.

GravatarFrank Rich:

ONCE Toto parts the curtain, the Wizard of Oz can never be the wizard again. He is forever Professor Marvel, blowhard and snake-oil salesman. Hurricane Katrina, which is likely to endure in the American psyche as long as L. Frank Baum's mythic tornado, has similarly unmasked George W. Bush.

Why???

GravatarTena --

Maybe we are overly scrupulous (probably a good thing) but the situation you are talking about is a terrible abuse -- almost as bad as parents sending their kids to whites only "religious" schools trying to count tuition as a charitable donation (which happened under the Carter adminstration which is why there are so many more restrictions on the income genration activities of religious orders than their used to be) -- if the ranch doesn't serve a religious purpose, it should, under existing law, be taxed

GravatarEven hell won't accept the moronic hate trolls.

GravatarTed always gives himself away by his OC over Atrios (classic Oedipus complex), his OC approach to women and his constant yelling of "bigot" at all of us. He can't help it, he always gives himself away in the end. No matter how many names he posts under and how many disguises he takes from his jr. spy kit.

91% Ted, that's the formula for the troll scat you see.

GravatarPrior - I know it is an extreme example. It's just alarming because it seems to be a bit of a trend up here.

Lake City has always been church-y - the oldest church on the western slope is here (it's Presbyterian). This tiny community supports that church, an Episcopal church (tiny tiny), a Catholic church, a Baptist church, a Methodist church and two independent ministries: Glory to Glory and another one. And that doesn't even get to Camp Red Cloud, Ute Trail Camp or this new "ministry" out here that bought the lodge.

See what I mean?

GravatarWGG --

I agree -- just pointing out that we don't have billions of dollars worth of tax except real estate (or billions of dollars worth of anything, really) -- the only tax except property we have is what our (tiny) church stands on -- we pay shitloads of property taxes & we pay sales taxes (which we could get out of, but we don't think that would be fair as long as we do things like use the roads & c.)

GravatarIn case I haven't mentioned it before, MJS at Corrente is the funniest damn songwriter ever -- or at least a tie with our own filkertom.

Gravatarbe afriad, little troll. your "girlfriend" will like me better, i promise:

By MARTHA IRVINE, AP National Writer 1 hour, 16 minutes ago

More women — particularly those in their late teens and 20s — are experimenting with bisexuality or at least feel more comfortable reporting same-sex encounters, according to a new report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The survey, released Thursday by the CDC's National Center for Health Statistics, found that 11.5 percent of women, ages 18 to 44, said they've had at least one sexual experience with another woman in their lifetimes, compared with about 4 percent of women, ages 18 to 59, who said the same in a comparable survey a decade earlier.

For women in their late teens and 20s, the percentage rose to 14 percent in the more recent survey. About 6 percent of men in their teens and 20s said they'd had at least one same-sex encounter.

While those who conducted the survey took measures to protect respondents' privacy, researchers say it's unclear whether the figure for men was lower because they're are more likely to avoid same-sex experiences or whether they're not reporting them.........

GravatarHi Prior Aelred, I'm glad your here, along with others. I'm not sure I could keep my sanity in East TN if I had not discovered Eschaton.

My hope is that good will win over evil.

GravatarI'm happy to say I've never ruined my beautiful mind watching Seagal. Though I did read a VF article a couple years ago that claimed he's mobbed-up.

My sister's a professional photographer who has photographed just about everyone. Her scouting report on SS was that he was not very bright and kinda weird/crazy.

When she told him about her affinity with the Navajo and all the time she spent on the reservation with them, he got very excited and said, "Let's go there. Right now." Very odd.

GravatarI thought Kristy Swanson was the eye candy in 'the Chase.'

GravatarAlso, I dunno if anyone else watches MadTV, but Will Sasso's Steven Seagal impression is fucking brilliant.

GravatarWow.

Flipping through the channels to find showtime for Dracula 3000 and came across Bill Clinton on CNN, some kind of "World Summit" discussion.

There is much he did that I did not like, but damn is he good at discussing the issues--a casual command of information without a script and a succint manner of speech.

No matter how I felt during the 90's, at the core I had the secure feeling borne of having a leader who did his job thoroughly and thoughtfully.

That secure feeling has long departed.

GravatarAO, Eli,

I think my subscription to the Times is over 100 bucks a year. I pay it in advance which makes it cheaper by far. The Sunday edition is really expensive if you buy it at the news stands. And it's HARD WORK patroling coffee shops on Sunday morning looking for discarded sections.

None. Their forearms aren't strong enough.

GravatarEli - I remember how Spy magazine used to ridicule SS with the claim that he uses shoe polish to fill in his hairline.

Honest to god, it looks like he does. Ask your sister if it's really shoe polish or just a remarkable facsimile.

GravatarOkay Eli, you buy it and give us the password, k?

Would that work? I presume if a name and password were universally posted the NYT folks would spot the traffic overload and block the password.
What if only a few people shared it instead? Anyone know?

GravatarI am counting on Common Dreams, The Smirking Chimp, Truthout & Working for Change to provide Krugman & Rich goodness, even if a day or two late -- I have sworn off not only the NYT but latrines & WaPo as well

Völkisher Beobachter & Der Stürmer were more respectable (OK, I exaggerate, but I am annoyed as in "seriously pissed off")

GravatarNo matter how I felt during the 90's, at the core I had the secure feeling borne of having a leader who did his job thoroughly and thoughtfully.

I want my preznit to be smarter than me. Much, much smarter than me. Like, scary smart.

Is that really unreasonable? Or elitist?

GravatarPrior - what I guess I'm trying to say is, no one seems to be looking very closely at any of these orgs to see whether or not they are what they claim.

Somebody figured out what a fucking windfall this administration (pace WGG) is for religious orgs.

GravatarTax the churches.

I lived in Salt Lake City, where a significant chunk of the downtown property is off the tax rolls. Even more of that property is owned by the dominant church of the state of Utah (i.e., the organization now owns BOTH shopping malls in downtown).

Some years back, before it became more common for tax assessors to put tax bills online, I had access to a tax database. I did a lot of research on a certain church that dominates Clearwater, Florida. Oddly enough, one of their buildings, used as a hotel in addition to classrooms and whatnot, was only partially tax exempt.

It's amazing what you can learn from the tax rolls. Enough to say "Tax the Churches!"

GravatarOT: Hey! Is anyone watching the CNN- Global Summit on Poverty & Development with Big Dawg, Bono, Wolfowitz, Jeffry Sachs, Mohammad Yunis (Grameen Bank guy), Queen Rania and Wangari Maathai? Quite an impressive little panel discussion.

GravatarIs it true that many institutions do not even have to file public documents of disclosure of income and expenses? Again, just curious?

GravatarEli -- "Churches can stay tax-exempt if they stay the fuck out of politics.

Deal?"

It's a deal by me as long as stay the fuck out of politics means no money from government to church related endeavors, no way, no how. If a church can't keep it's mission going, whatever it defines that to be, from its collection plate and investments, then let it has no raison d'etre. Let it fold.

Gravatar"I hope he gets cancer and rots in hell!"

GravatarIs it true that many institutions do not even have to file public documents of disclosure of income and expenses?

Public vs Private institutions.
Publicly held has to reveal
Private only for Tax purposes and only if it's a for profit institution.

GravatarThe other night I was thinking about the estate tax and the middle class. My father-in-law and another two oldsters I can think of right off the bat had to liquidate all their assets except for a car, I think, in order to qualify for Medicaid (or Medicare -- can't recall at this moment, but I could look it up if the trolls are interested) long-term care coverage. So the middle class loses its assets while the rich keep theirs -- just another step on the road to becoming a third-world nation, as far as I can tell. So why am I supposed to feel sorry for the millionaires? I am certain in my bones that all my father-in-law wanted was to be able to leave something to his kids after a lifetime of hard work.

GravatarCaptain Goto --

Scaife & Ahmunson are currently spending millions trying to destroy the Episcopal Church (& the Methodists & Presbyterians as well) -- they are supporting the homophobes & trying to grab church property, tie things up in the courts -- it is really quite infuriating -- it is tough fighting big money -- it can be done, but you gotta wanna (think Gandhi chasing out the British)

The model is the fundies taking over the Southern Baptists (which used to be a Christian organization) -- there is a shortage of fundies in the Episcopal Church (thank God) but you can find homophobes everywhere (especially in their carefully contructed closets -- see Rome's latest campaign to get gays out of the priesthood -- snark, snark!)

GravatarI ever tell you I smoked dope in Spartan stadium back in '74? At about 2 am.

No.

I will not say those were the good old days. They weren't.

But the Bush presidency is and always will be a sad time in our history.

The Iraq war supporters that remain are the most pathetic, because they can not come up with one good reason why this failure should continue.

They don't ask what's happened to the money that's been poured into Iraq that was supposed to restore what the military bombed and rendered useless.

Joe Klein, if you're reading this, people were better off under Saddam. And I'm not going to get upset because someone in the military (with whom you dined), who thrives on war, laments the death of his five lieutenants.

Go interview the families, you coward.

Gravatarcs, I heard from a very social-justice-oriented minster friend that back in pre-Reagan days, a great deal of the gov't money for social programs was already being funneled through mainline church-based orgs. It turned out they were very good at what they did, and had no trouble keeping on the right side of the tax laws (i.e., not proselytizing, etc.). But they knew they didn't have a hope in hell of keeping up with all the real needs out there without gov't money, so you never heard them bitching about "privatizing" welfare.

GravatarNon-profits have to file a form 990 with the IRS, which is public record and available here (who says the Ford Foundation doesn't do anything good?).

I've done much good work using 990s...

One exception: several Christian Universities (including Harding University, which is how I know about this) have got themselves an exemption to this rule. This is criminal, in my opinion, because public tax breaks are going to them. I'll have more on this in a few weeks, when I finish writing an article about it...

I know a priest who was like his right hand man -- until he came out of the closet

The problems is the church(es) is not about the H-word "homosexual" but about the H-word "hypocrisy" -- a lot of persons with a same sex orientation have been very good in the "helping professions" -- I don't know the reasons, but it seems to be true

One priest describes the problem as "the ick factor" -- I think he's right since I have the same emotional reaction myself, but my intellect knows better

Prior Aelred

Prior, almost nothing is OT these days, so many things are connected because the neocons have struck a spike into this country's heart ro split it in two. It's one of the only ways they can succeed, by turning us against one another. One must recognize one's basest instincts to conquer them, but most of us - myself included (though fortunately not all the time or forever) - just react instead of process the info.

SD

GravatarBTW, a friend told me that the Hitchens & Galloway will be on Bill Maher next week -- can anyone verify that?

Cage match?

GravatarSarah --

A reading list -- wow -- well, the novititate reading list is geared very much towards monatic life but also towards guiding novices to topics & authors that they find helpful -- people are different & an author or approach which one person finds inspiring & helpful might mean nothing to another

You might find Marcus Borg's books of interest -- he teaches in Oregon, IIRC -- raised Missouri Synod Lutheran, he rejected not only that tradition but the hateful God he learned -- he is now married to an Episcopal priest -- I don't always agree with him, but he makes some excellent points & is a searcher with his heart in the right place, I think

And many thanks to all of you for the kind words -- I am simply trying to follow Jesus Chrsit & doing a piss poor job (as any of my confreres would be quick to tell you), but as a Methodist minsiter recently wrote, "Being a Christian is primarily about being kind." I initially rebelled against that statement, but the more I pondered it, the more I decided he was on to something.

I'd have to agree it goes a long way towards being the unvarnished truth
It's challenge enough for most of us, in any event.

Prior, thanks. I just didn't know if you had any poetry you enjoyed or authors you personally liked. I'm not trying to be a Christian, I would like to be a decent human being, something I struggle with daily. I always enjoy and respect your comments and where your emotional and intellectual instincts take you.

thanks/SD

GravatarGood lord, we're really scraping the bottom of that 38% barrel with the current crop of trolls.

Poetry -- well, I always for for the poetry rather than the meaning -- I confess to a fondness for Andrew Marvell, for the feel as much as anything

Houseman can be quite astonishingly moving, I think -- everyone admires T. S. Eliott (or at least his poetry) for a reason

There was an Australian poet whose name escapes me at rthe moment -- modern themes in very traditional form -- I also like Theodore Roethke -- he has a feel for words & images

Novels -- Dostoevky's "Borthers Karamazov" is worthy of a lifetime of study -- like NTodd I love the historical novels of Patrick O'Brian (unlike NTodd, I didn't care for the movie)

Movies -- my favorite is "Lone Star" -- also "Searching for Bobby Fischer" -- "Smoke Signals" -- "The Adventures of Baron Munchausen" (if oyu notice that they are about family relationships, you are on to something)

Favorite sci-fi-fantasy writer -- unquestionably David Gemmell -- he seems to write in formulas but always has something to startle me & make me think in every book

Just some thoughts

GravatarHouseman T. S. Eliott (or at least his poetry) for a reason

In February of 1984 I got a really bad case of pneumonia. To cheer myself up I read Shropshire Lad at least ten times. It seemed to cure me of AE Houseman for the rest of my life, though I did read Last and More later.

Telling my Latin teacher about it he said, "I don't know what he had to be so sorry for him self about. Look at Chatterton, he really had something to get upset about."

Elliot is a poet I can't understand the attraction of. I've hurt feelings over him on these threads before so I'll leave it at that.

William Blake is an endless font of discovery for me. The Pebble and the Clod is a rather remarkable poem that doesn't get much notice.
Emily Dickenson too.

But Das Buch Der Bilder, especially the second volume, is the book that means the most to me just now.

"Tiere will ich nicht schrecken."

Gravataranyone ever read timothy findlay? "Not Wanted on the Voyage" by him, one of my fave books.

Time to stop scraping, eh?
And let's not crack open a new barrel right away. How 'bout, say, New Years Day?

2020?

Herbst

Die Blätter fallen, fallen wie von weit,

als welkten in den Himmeln ferne Gärten;

unendlich sanft in seinen Händen hält.

GravatarFUCK THE GOD DAMN ESTATE TAX. IT'S TIME TO PUSH BACK ON THIS DECADENCE. THERE IS NOTHING, NOTHING THAT DIFFERENTIATES THESE PEOPLE FROM THE POOR AND EVERYONE ELSE, EXCEPT THEIR STATION OF BIRTH. GET THE FUCK OUT OF POLITICS.

GravatarWilfred Owen.

Edna St Vincent Millay ("these things I do, being mad....")

Emily Dickenson

WH Auden

ee cummings

Just a very very few examples.

GravatarI don't recall who it was that hit upon the correct name for the estate tax repeal plan:

The Paris Hilton Stupid Spoiled Whore Subsidy Act

GravatarEPT --
Agree on William Blake
Eliott worked & re-worked everything -- I think it paid off -- we are allowed to disagree (especially about poetry)

SD --
Wilfrid Owen was a genius
