Okay, then, Fuck Bush and the wave of criminal conspiracy he rode in on.
I can live with that.
Here's the thing: obviously, the distancing is beginning. "He may have done it, but he didn't tell me!" Aside from the utter bullshit of the statement, it's designed to insulate Bush from Rove. Or maybe it's true, in which case we need to ask what else Karl kept from his employer when directly questioned.
But I really think that Bush without Rove is a head on a pike. Bush without Cheney and Libby and Frist and DeLay is more powerless than that.

I don't recall.
I got no memory,
Of anything at all.

Heh. Or something.

He doesn't need any of that bullshit "If anyone is involved they will be fired" crap. There's a fucking executive order in effect which requires him to fire Rove.
Until and unless he cancels that order, he has to fire Rove and Libby, et cetera.
Might be nice if the media picked up on THAT.
Hat tip to Firedoglake, which is doing a helluva job on the legal points of this story.

I know Reid and many other Senate Democrats support Miers. (A woman that thinks Bush is the most brilliant man in the world- that should remove her from consideration for any public office)
Who will be the first Democrat to back Rove and not think he is guilty. Liebermann or Clinton?
fy |

This is actually good news.
No way was Fitzgerald going to bring down a sitting president over this.
This clears the way to indict Rove, without a constitutional crisis erupting over the whole affair.
If Bush really had been unavoidably implicated in criminal activity, Fitzgerald would've blinked. Maybe nobody would've been indicted.
And Bush without Rove is the scarecrow without a brain.

The question is whether he's ever be "without Rove." He might be without Rove the way the House is without DeLay. Being sent up the river doesn't keep the Godfather from running his family. They'll appoint Scooter or whoever survives this round of indictments as "street boss" and Rove will still be able to offer the benefit of his advice.
Now, if Rove decides to turn on Chimpy & Co. to save his own ass, Bush might end up "without Rove." In that case, he's worse than a head on a pike--he's a veritable pinata!

Gee, its funny how these terrorist warnings/speeches always come when Bush and his Beltway Boys are in hot water. Rove should be the leading story, but was sideswiped with this FAKE terrorist threat aimed, supposedly from Baghdad, at the New York Subway system. How in the Hades does a gaggle of Iraqis in Baghdad, pose a threat to the New York Subway System? they won't say. Like weapons of mass destruction, this is another ruse to mislead and confuse the people into thinking GW is on the JOB. When in fact this major goofball is following directions from Carl Rove to hide him behind the smoke.

The Sergeant Schultz Defense isn't perfect. It can and has been broken by prosecutors that have established "pattern and practice" showing beyond a reasonable doubt that the person in question could not have been that stupid.
That's probably one reason why Fitzgerald has been so assiduous in Hoovering up data and witnesses: He intends to show that Rover Boy can't be "Boy Genius" on everything else and then morph into Homer Simpson WRT TreasonGate.
Who will be the first Republican to say that investigating the Bush White House is giving aid and comfort to Osama?

I wouldn't bet against you, that's for sure. Coburn's about the only other one that's simultaneously that hackish and stupid.

Bus is right on the money--the story of the terrorist plot against the NYC subway system, Bloomberg's big announcement & all that was this week, only two days after the Rose Garden press conference where Bush said he wanted Congress to let him us the U.S.military to help quarantine communities/states/regions in the event of a flu epidemic in this country.
After last year's fiasco, why would this administration not have a single word to say about preparing to ensure that vaccines were available to the U.S. public? It is, remember, October, now!
There's ample reason for us to be suspicious of the timing of the most recent terrorism warning.
As far as the Miers nomination goes, it could be another distraction. Another setup of the American people.
