I'MMA LET YOU FINISH

Bush presidency: FIERY WRECK!

at the least a fiery wreck

GravatarI don't envy Cohen.

I mean, when you write the worst column ever, what can you do for an encore?

GravatarAh, c'mon guys! This is a test of his creativity!

GravatarIf there's any doubt about the impact of the Stockholm Syndrome, Richard Cohen is exhibit "A" in it's defense.

It seems that whenever power shifts, even to people as demonstrably incompetent and immoral as Bushboy & the Goopers, there are always those who become, in effect, their psychological captives.

I submit that Cohen's mental processes have been "adjusted" to find ways of excusing the crimes and immoralities of Bushboy & the Goopers.

It also means he gets invited to the more important cocktail parties in DC!!!

GravatarRichard Cohen definitely did not go to Regis. Hence, his wankery.

GravatarHe may well exhaust all the possible ways of being wrong. But, thankfully, Bush and his administration will continue to crank out all sorts of new situations in which Cohen can deploy his old wrongness in new ways.

Just think of the upcoming stirring column that will wail about horrid prison conditions to lay the foundation not for improving the conditions but, rather, for justifying the release of nice white men like Rove and Libby!

GravatarI guess he could always sign the wrong name...

Gravatarperhaps? atrios, i take you to task for your tepidity.

well, off to the races. enjoy much frog marching, inidictment, and republican watery bowels this morning, all.

GravatarI find this Berube fellow sort of sexy.

GravatarFinally got my camera from Philly. Have some nice pics of NYMary, Watertiger, Uncle Smokes and old white lady (where is she these days?)

Gravatarit is [Harry] Reid and the others who should apologize to Bennett. They were condemning and attempting to silence a public intellectual for a reference to a theory.

Bennett a public intellectual? More like the poster boy for the perils of chowing down at the nearest hog farm. All his brains, if he ever had any to begin with, dropped down into his ass.

GravatarBennett a public intellectual?

Moralistic hectoring is now a requirement for being considered an intellectual.

GravatarThere is a nexus between the installation of gross incompetents like Bushboy & the Goopers to important government offices and the plague of lying, mean-spirited, self-serving pundits who promote these scumbags as worthy of public office.

The list of the profoundly perverse pundits could run for pages but those highest in the "Hall of Shame" would be: Limbaugh, Coulter, O'Reilly, Boortz, Hannity, Novak, Krauthammer, Hume, the Beltway Boys, Armstrong Williams, Kate O'Beirne, Jonah Goldberg, George Will and Bill Bennett, to name just a few.

GravatarBennett a public intellectual?

So funny you can't improve it.

OT: In the single most unimpressive feat of prediction this week yours truly correctly predicted, here, last night, that Scott Simon would have a serious indepth look at the social and political implications of the new James Bond.

Scott Simon and Richard Cohen should both be put to out to.... whatever geldings are put out to.

GravatarI don't envy Cohen.

I mean, when you write the worst column ever, what can you do for an encore?
SteveNS

Cohen's pending column on how we should invade Syria, Iraq and North Korea at the same time next week will be out on Sunday.

GravatarI confess to not knowing about Nicodemian Ethics.
But I doubt that anyone will ever get more wanker nominations than Cohen did the other day. By the time Atrios woke up, about 10 of us has already voted for him.

GravatarAt least Cohen had the decency to admit he is nothing but a mouthpiece for the neocon cabal:

"Richard Perle, the former Reagan administration official and the Zelig-like character who appears over the shoulder of countless op-ed writers, makes a good point (over my shoulder) when he says that the danger is not merely that Iraq will go nuclear but also that it will hand off the device to some terrorist with a suitcase."

GravatarRudy, I would divide that Hall of Shame into 2 categories. The low-brow ones like Rush who cater to the unwashed masses on AM radio, and the ones with prestigious outlets in papers of note, who fancy them selves as intellectuals, like Brooks and Cohen.

GravatarA new job... Cheney Cohen Group... a consulting firm where the trick is, whatever they advise, do the opposite.

It could be staffed by just about anyone W has ever appointed.

GravatarCohen needs to slapped across the face with a 100lbs. tuna and sent home.

GravatarCohen has always been an exceptionally lazy columnist and, in recent years, he's become an exceptionally bad one.

He's been channeling David Broder, but even more wrongheadedly. He seems to believe that he will be a much more broadly admired columnist if he is sometimes on this side and sometimes on that side no matter where the truth may lie.

GravatarHe may well exhaust all the possible ways of being wrong.
Derelict

That is the mark of a true artist.
--Gore Vidal(?)

GravatarJesus H Christ !!!!

Niggers ARE criminals !

People in the white are are patriots!!!

and Saddam had anthrax !!!

arent you on board with the program yet?

GravatarHe really buried the needle this week. You can't get more stupid than that.

GravatarI confess to not knowing about Nicodemian Ethics.

You're not missing much.

GravatarHas anyone mentioned the possiblity that Cohen was also on the Bush propaganda payroll? Perhaps this column is merely a desperate attempt to cover his own illegal activities.

GravatarNo, Cohen is just really, really stupid.

GravatarThe last five or so years have taught me one lesson:

you can never run out of ways of being wrong.

However, I will say that if someone has proven his aptitude in breaking ground in new depths of wrongness, Cohen is the guy for job.

He has gone beyond Hitchens this week, I daresay.

GravatarHe has gone beyond Hitchens this week, I daresay.
Nancy Richardson

If he had a Brit accent he'd be all over cable.

Has anyone mentioned the possiblity that Cohen was also on the Bush propaganda payroll?

Why would they buy him twice? He's been a whore for decades.

GravatarI'm a little sick of these assholes' "demands."

I may buy one of this company's dolls just for spite....and tell others to do the same.

Wildmon & Co. need to get lives!

Fucking yahoo theofacists.

American Girl, manufacturer of a highly popular line of dolls and children's books, has become the target of conservative activists threatening a boycott unless the toy maker cuts off contributions to a youth organization that supports abortion rights and acceptance of lesbians.

The protest is directed at an ongoing American Girl campaign in which proceeds from sales of a special "I Can" wristband help support educational and empowerment programs of Girls Inc., a national nonprofit organization which describes its mission as "inspiring girls to be strong, smart and bold."

American Girl, whose often patriotic products have long had a loyal following among conservatives, issued a statement Friday defending its support of Girls Inc. and assailing the protest campaign.

The Mississippi-based American Family Association, in a campaign launched Wednesday, is urging its members to demand that American Girl halt support for Girls Inc., which it called "a pro-abortion, pro-lesbian advocacy group."

Gravatararent you on board with the program yet?
red

Er, no.

I read.....and think for myself.

All that elitist stuff.

GravatarDobson had better watch out. Those American Girl folks are no one to fuck with. They're aggressive with a very loyal fan base.

GravatarAristotle is so half-millennium before last. The statistical basis of thermodynamics shows that in a complex world, there are not merely many more ways to be wrong than right, but immensely many more ways, to the tune of factorial N, where N is Avogadro's number.

So we can look forward to Cohen surprising us for a long time to come.

Gravatar"Cohen does actual damage to the Republic with his compelling and influential wrongheadedness."

since when is jacking off in public "compelling"?
.

GravatarWHERE does it say ANYTHING about abortion or lesbianism here?

http://store.americangirl.com/sh...m/shop/ ican.php

I guess they think girls should that brood sow who had the 16 kids for their role model.

Like I said, they're in dire need of lives!

GravatarI guess they think girls should that brood sow who had the 16 kids for their role model.

Meant to say they think girls SHOULD BE LIKE that brood sow.

What's she doing? Going for 20?

Gravatarre: American Girl - I'm guessing the American Family Association hit them up for a "donation" and got turned down.

GravatarBerube has forgotten that you coul dbe wrong in more than one way simultaneously. So therefore there are 12! ways of being wrong, or 479,001,600 ways.

GravatarD-licious!

GravatarWhy Terry because the I can promise says among other things that they 'can be myself', clearly an invitation to acceptance of one's own deviant sexuality. Moreover the same pledge affirms that they 'can make a difference', but reform, with the exception of today's backward reformist tendencies, is the exclusive province of *liberals* and the *liberal tradition*. Our democracy has already evolved to perfection, as witness the perfect President and Perfect Congress we have now, except for some few negligible democrats who can be evenutally replaced. Thus, there is no need or desire to "improve things" -- which would only involve some kind of liberal degeneration anyway.

Gravatar"Running Out Of Ways To Be Wrong" - Atrios.

Was it wrong to compare the US military to Hitler and Stalin's?

GravatarMy LTE to the WP regarding this:

In his op-ed on October 13th Richard Cohen characterized the alleged exposure of Valerie Plames' covert status by administration officials as a "ricochet". A ricochet? She was the bloody horse's head put in Joe Wilson's bed by persons in the White House who knew exactly what they were doing and who they were doing it to. Period. It was a naked act of intimidation and a warning to anyone else who questioned their policies, and national security and the war on terror be damned. The people who did this are thugs who need to be booted out of government and into a federal prison for many years. Get a clue, Richard.

GravatarWhy Terry because the I can promise says among other things that they 'can be myself', clearly an invitation to acceptance of one's own deviant sexuality.

"deviant" to the theofascists meaning anything that isn't man-on-top-get-it-over-with-quick with the lights off and fully dressed and just to make babies!

GravatarCog is back with his same old tired bullshit.

Talk about someone in dire need of a life.

Cog - give it up, dude.

Bush is toast.

GravatarCohen needs to slapped across the face with a 100lbs. tuna and sent home.
Dartanyon

Great- now I'm thinking of the "fish slapping dance" from Python.

GravatarOf course, why should anyone ever retire from being a syndicated op-ed columnist? It's the best free ride there ever was! Great pay, no responsibility, essentially lifetime tenure, get to hobnob with the bigshots...the list goes on and on. It's the perfect sinecure, if you've got the basics of writing down.

Op-ed writers must be scared shitless of the blogsphere. We now know that the skill set that gets you into the commentariat really isn't that specialized. LOTS of people can write better political commentary than those who are paid to put theirs on the nation's op-ed pages, and they're doing it for FREE.

The days when some group of editors would decide who the 'elect' opinion writers are is fast coming to an end. When that day arrives, we won't miss Richard Cohen, Robert J. Samuelson, and a host of others.

Gravatar"Bush is toast."

Agreed. So is anyone Atrios supports.

GravatarBut then Kevin Drum will have to find some other person to appear "moderate" with. Joe Lieberman doesn't do a lot of editorializing.

GravatarCohen Loses His Vision While More Want a Democratic House in ‘06
October 15th, 2005

Richard Cohen’s WaPo 10/14 column on the Plame leak being no big deal, is creating a lot of negative attention. Which may reinforce what I suggested to him last year after a really absurd column on being purple: “maybe he needs some time off to unwind and get refocused.”

http://blog.thedemocraticdaily.c...aily.com/? p=857

Gravatarcorrect me if i'm wrong but Cohen is nothing more than opinion-ed columnist, which is to say he isn't a fucking reporter, he is just some schmuck airing his opinion out there, kinda like the entire fucking blogsphere. So if i don't like a certain blog or the views they air, i should want the blog shut down? because i mean this that is essentially what you are saying. You don't agree with what the man is airing out there, and so Wapo should can him.
I call bullshit. Cohen is doing what he is paid to do, air his fucking opinion, because again he isn't a reporter, he's an op-ed columnist.
O fucking Reilly spews a lot of bullshit on his talk show, but the fact is, it's his show, and he can say what the fuck he wants, it's Richard Cohen's Opinion Column and he can say what the fuck he wants, this is your blog and you can say what the fuck you want.
Kicking O'Reilly off tv, firing Cohen or shutting down your blog, because you guys excercise the right to say whatever the fuck you say, isn't that an afront to the First Amendment everybody praises?
