Damn. The more things change.
I haven't read as much of Pandagon as when Ezra was still around, but I've always like the site.
Well, maybe Jesse's on his way to replacing one of the Bob Shrum's of the political world. That has to be a good thing.

Hoping to see Strickland tomorrow, assuming I can get out of bed early enough and that lightening doesn't strike the chucrch when I walk in...
from below: "Mr. Fitzgerald asked me whether Mr. Libby had mentioned nepotism. I said no. And as I told the grand jury, I did not recall - and my interview notes do not show - that Mr. Libby suggested that Ms. Plame had helped arrange her husband's trip to Niger. My notes do suggest that our conversation about Ms. Plame was brief."
so Judy clearly recalls there was no mention of nepotism, but remebers no other crucial details...fucking liar.

Well, looks like it's time to be off to the store.
That's cool. And it's great to see Amanda, who crushed Berube and Wolcott in the 2004 Koufaxes, has been able to catapult to even greater heights. Speaking of which, if you've got some coin, maybe throw a little Wampum's way to support this year's awards. It's good for the lefty blogosphere...

I'm glad to see Jesse doing this. He is clearly a sharp guy, but after a couple of years the non-stop rants and picking on idiotic townhall pieces was pretty boring. I stopped reading shortly after Ezra left. Amanda does way too much diary-blogging for my taste, so I don't think I'll be visiting the panda anymore.

Yeah, will even female sexist pigs deserve a blog. She has lucked out by inheriting a blog with good name recognition.
Finally someone with the cojones to stop whining and put their money where their mouth is.
What a goddamned breath of fresh air that is.
Either you are part of the solution or you are part of the problem.

Opining is easy, actually working for change is hard. Congratulations to Pendragon for realizing that writing online is no more effective than sending letter after letter to a newspaper.

At one point, Jesse was hands-down the funniest writer on the internet. His Nooner parodies are fucking legends.
But I curtailed my perusal of Pandagon sharply after he let That Idiot Ezra (anyone who can attend college in Santa Cruz and prefer drinking lattes at Borders instead of patronizing any number of legendary local, independent bookstores and cafes is Just. Fucking. Stupid.) onboard. The "smelly hippies made me support the war" rants just sealed the deal, sadly.
As for Amanda, I learned all I needed to know about her when she started bitching and moaning about the anti-smoking ordinance in Austin, including parroting the long-disproven tobacco company spin on how all the bars would close if someone was forced to light up elsewhere.
What Dave said at 8:47 & 8:49. Oh well, one less blog to check in on each day. That cuts it down to about 40. And that silly sod Amanda isn't worthy to even be mentioned in the same breath as Wolcott and Berube. I stopped taking the Koufax' seriously after that travesty on par with Eminem losing the best album Grammy to Steely Dan.
BTW, that was a fucking AMAZING football game between USC and Notre Dame. Tee hee Notre Dame lost--maybe Touchdown Jesus doesn't really care who wins football games after all.

Tailgunner Jesse finally shot the tail off his own plane. Now he's off seeking the "new challenge" of embarassing Ted Strickland. He should have stuck with Jerry Springer, even Jesse can't embarass Jerry.

I liked Ezra and Jesse, Amanda is absolutely unbearable. She's the annoying woman studies major in college who has no persective or experience in the real world, yet contstantly talks about "the struggle". She's a snorefest and the reason they had to amend their comments section, as everyone with a brain would tell her so.

Sorry to see Jesse go, though if I were being honest, I used to read it for Ezra, and now I read it for Amanda. While I unquestionably disagree with her stance on the tobacco ban, too, I can at least allow that her opposition was relating to local issues that she'd know better than I. I'm not so concerned with the motives of the backers in the case, but I have voted against ballot measures I've agreed with because I've found their supporters to be odious (and, well, I have a very high standard when voting yes on a ballot measure) so I can't knock her reasoning.
That said, Amanda has a creative and interesting take on a lot of issues. Her ongoing development of the Church of the Mouse and the Disco Ball is very enjoyable. (Disclaimer: I designed the official flag of the Church of the Mouse and the Disco Ball; see newspapers, how hard is that?) And frankly, I know she's aware of and in many ways supportive of fat acceptance, something that's been sorely put upon by the liberal blogosphere. To be fair, its a progressive cause that's oft ignored in all circles, which is why someone being aware and supportive is such a delight for me personally. Pandagon may well be dead, but I most concur with Atrios.
Long live pandagon.

I liked the Jesse & Ezra team, and was sorry to see them split up.
As for Amanda, when she's good, she's good. But unfortunately, too many of her posts descends into lengthy rants. I like blogs for their brevity & coverage of many different items. She's creative, gotta give her that, although I think she'll do well to have a stronger boundary between her personal & blog lives.
