GravatarBush presidency: FIERY WRECK!

Gravatar(Haloscan is giving big fun this mornng.)

GravatarOn top of all that, he is one ugly mofo. How'd he get on tv?

GravatarTimmeh!

.

GravatarSheesh!

Russert comes off like the regime: he figures he can say what he wants because everyone will believe him because he said it.

It's bad enough that Bushco lied us into war, but somehow it feels worse that a journalist furthered those lies.

It's only 5:15 am here on the west coast, but I am seriously thinking about imbibing something stronger than decaf.

GravatarI just posted a story that I wrote about a Wag the Dog theory I formed over night. It's related to all the commotion put out by the US (Bush, Bolton, Rice) and the UK (Jackk Straw) for the U.N. to 'take action' against Syria.

Check it out at Inflatable Dartboard:

GravatarHey, I thought you liberals were all about diversity. You're just prejudiced against Timmy because he's "differently truthed."

Or because he's a Republican whore spewing bullshit talking points in an attempt to curry favor with an illegitimate junta.

Either way.

GravatarDoes the "kewl kidz" theory still hold water? I mean, was the entire Washington establishment on the side of the Bushies just for the party favors? Or were they compromised more fundamentally?

I just can't see otherwise regular folks lying about nukes and getting thousands killed just because it's more fun that way. There has to be something deeper. It makes sense that Miller was a mole. And it makes sense that Russert might be a mole, too.

Well, that wasn't my first thought, but I guess that's not a bad alternative.

GravatarMoonbootica,
Is the British press talking about the indictments?

GravatarHaloscum is so fucked up this morning.

But why should this morning be any different.

GravatarNYMary yeah there have been a few stories on the Guardian.

plus the BBC had a few reports as well.

GravatarEpipheny,

It was quite a long time ago now, but I remember when I first saw the light - clearly and without compromise. It was at a dinner for the reporters put on by the congress or someone in power. The "journalists" were all there fawning over the administration (Clinton at that time I think.) Mrs Alan Greenspan was there with her hubby. As I watched it came to me that these people care nothing for the country or truth or anything else other than their priviledged lives.

Fat Timmeh is only one of many who will lie, apologize, ridicule, and subvert on cue; like a trained puppy.

I hardly ever watch the TV news and seldom believe much of anything I read in the paper. I try to subvert my natural cyncism but being right so many times makes it extremely difficult.

Still my opinion that the best thing to ever happen to this country would be for Washington to be wiped out. (But let's get word to Hecate and friends before it occurs.)

GravatarYanno,

This post is on one of the hottest blogs going. Surely somebody connected to NBC has to have read it, or will read it.

I wonder if Mr. Russert will hear about it. I wonder if it will make a difference to him or his bosses.

Novak looks more like Mr. Potato head. See for yourself. Timmeh is a pumpkin head. Russert... Ruppert? Nah!

GravatarSo Russert is the Judy Miller of the TV "news."

Once the Plamegate scandal fully erupts and all the facts are known, Timmy and Judy should both receive their walking papers and be sent to oblivion or jail, which is far better than hell, which is what they deserve.

GravatarIt is quite infuriating to listen to these self-important buffoons spew the lies.

Will the sense of omerta between journalists prevent them from commenting on Judith Chalabi Miller's publishing history and the lies of folks like Russert. And not just little lies, but major whopping lies that have led to thousands and thousands of innocents dying.

GravatarBut Timah is an ok guy from Buffalo, wrote that book about his great father who had to live with alcohol and divorcing his wife.

hey, i like that first entry. judy is a terrorist. so true, so true.

journoterrorist?

GravatarA friend of mine (and frequent tennis rival) is a reporter who recently returned from Liberia, Africa, where an election has just been held.

George Weah who got 22% of the vote in a 20 plus candidate race has little or no education, being a "self-made-man" who rose from rank Liberian poverty to become a world-class soccer star.

My friend, Ken Shulman's report is on NPR today. The reason I mention it is that what struck me most about this story is how ignorant the populace is and how that presents a very low threshold for war, and civil war has been Liberia's curse.

America suffers from a similar ignorance that causes thepopulace to allow someone as fraudulent and devious as Bushboy to scare them into the Iraq war.

Reminding me of the axiom: If you think education is expensive, try ignorance!!!

oh, the first entry is about an account of her bout with hoax? anthrax.

who better to fear monger this angle.

Title: The Good Life

It's the good life, full of fun, seems to be the ideal,
Yes, the good life, lest you hide all the sadness you feel,
You won't really fall in love 'cause you can't take the chance,
So be honest with yourself, don't try to fake romance.
Yes, the good life, to be free and explore the unknown,
Like the heartache when you learn you must face them alone,

Please remember i still want you and in case you wonder why,
Well, just wake up, kiss that good life goodbye.
(musical interlude)
Please remember i still want you and in case you wonder why,
Well, just wake up, kiss that good life goodbye.

GravatarDWD...you got it right! Put together the ignorance of the general public and the self-serving, protect our careers attitude of many (especially those who have risen to power and prominence) in our media and we've been subject to a recipe for disaster for decades. There are enough dangerous players on both sides but from my advantage as a senior citizen I credit much of the turn around to the deification of Ronald the great communicator and the cronies that played off that grade "B" actor. Take a look around, we're still saddled with many of them and their philosophies...AND many of the paid pundits/talking heads/entertainment anchors now on the 24/7 airwaves were spawned then as well. WHY should they care about the little people? They're eating the cake!

GravatarI think part of it has to be the sense of being a priveleged insider

If Fitz threw the lot of them in prison it would do a lot to improve the quality of American reporting

GravatarIt’s this kind of blind jingoistic xenophobia that propels our public policy since Bush took over (and was going in that direction long before that). Timmeh is the perfect representative of this kind of ignorant statesman/journalist. He prolly never was any good in school and just got where he is cause he's like an affable "Lenny" character (as in Of Mice and Men, not The Simpsons). When the dust clears from this period of insanity there will be an "All the President's Men" type movie trying to present how and why it all happened. Randy Quaid will play Timmeh but with the same type of buffoon character he used in the National Lampoon's Vacation movies.

OT: As I was doing my compulsive channel surfing last night, looking for anything worth watching on general cable, I saw several sections of "The Siege" with Denzel Washington, Annette Benning, Tony Shaloub and Bruce Willis. How have I missed seeing that one? Talk about prescient! It was made in 1999 and goes through massive terror attacks, Arab/Moslem terrorist sleeper cells, Martial Law round up of all non-Jewish middle easterners in the US and torturing for info them to prevent other cells from acting. Bruce Willis was the villainous American General. The whole scenario we've teetered on since 9-11.

GravatarThe administration whores in the media, Miller, Mitchell, Myers, Russert, Fineman, Klein, Mathews, et al., have got to held accountable for the inaccurate and/or outright deceptive statements that they have made. This article is the first of many that should follow. Whole books could be written on Russert's lies and deception on Social Security.

GravatarLet's see: hyping nuclear weapons when there were none - helping to push your country into a war because you think you understand what realpolitik is... Big, corpulent, ego-addled, corporate teat sucking bastards!
At night every now and then I hope it creeps into their subconcious that they helped kill 2,000 US soldiers injure and main 15,000 US soldiers and kill as many as 100,000 Iraqis - may they spend the rest of their fucking lives in guilt and misery for their hubris and LIES.

On first glance, seems like a right on term.

I'll try to remember you coined it and give due credit.

You used it in reference to this post about Timmeh, but would it apply to out and out propaganda catapulters such as Novak, Hannity--or just those pretending to be "objective"?

GravatarRussert is nothing more than deceitful uniformed propagandist. He did as much to cause us to be conned into the Iraq invasion as anyone.

Oh, and "Meet the Press" what a fraudulant name for the show. It should be called "Meet Timmy".

What can expect from a network owned by the biggest war contractor in the world. Tim does his job for them.

The only time the "press" is involved is when the coward Russert reads some other persons challenges to his guests. He READS what others say about his guests and looks at them like "are you going to take that off of them"... Of course asking back up questions of value doesn't happen because he STOLE others thoughts to begin with.

Fact is, the guy is an uninformed putz.

GravatarOh, please, please, PLEASE Santa Fitz, PLEASE indict that lying putz for perjury!

GravatarGreat post by Wolcott at www.jameswolcott.com.
"Cries and Whimpers." Puts it all in sleazy perspective re: Washington press corps and their complicity in all this shit. Fuck them...like Wolcott says, they've played by their own rules for far too long and it's time for the Washington establishment to go. "It's failed the country"
he says.

Russert has been a sack of dogshit for years now. He hasn't had to come clean on his involvement in this. Why doesn't he have to acknowledge that he's part of this story? Miller is a symptom of the rotten disease of power that has destroyed the NYT. They get all sweaty over a blow job and some piece of crap land in Arkansas but can't see the lies in the WMD stuff. The Downing Street Memo got barely a "whimper" from the Washington establishment. Move along. Nothing to see. Now, some of us can say "I told you so." But what good is that?

These guys should be prosecuted as war criminals along with Rumsfeld, Bush, Libby, Cheney, etc.

GravatarOnce again the press hides behind the the totemic acronym on WMD instead of actually thinking about what it takes to have a successful nuclear (let's ignore bio and chem since they don't make mushroom clouds) program.

A nuclear program is not building a go-cart in your garage.

Uranium or plutonium are necessary ingredients but the only way to build a bomb is with BRAINS.

The weapons inspectors tracked programs by following the people that were capable of undertaking the task and their training and the massive amount of paper it took to design, track, train, experiment and account for all that is required for the program. The scale of the effort is what gives it away.

Another example of the media and the people falling for propaganda instead of thinking about what the reality of building such a program and why when the inspectors say there is no program, how they came to that conclusion.

GravatarThe Downing Street Memo got barely a "whimper" from the Washington establishment. Move along. Nothing to see. Now, some of us can say "I told you so." But what good is that?
