GravatarDan Froomkin:

Before any indictments come down, the president could proactively tell the public what he knows about the Plame case and if need be rid himself of staffers whose conduct, criminal or not, is beneath his moral standards.

See, that's the problem. There ain't nothin' that's beneath his moral standards.

GravatarGood news about Walter Neff.

GravatarHoward Dean is going to be the exclusive interview on This Week. People on this blog always complain about the lack of access that Dems suffer from. What do people on this thread think should be the main themes that Dean should use to MAKE news next week? Should he go after the media? Should he talk about how shitty repubs are? Or should he talk about what dems will do once in power?

I've gone from bad to terse.

GravatarI noticed Isikoff on MSNBC early this morning ( !? ) saying that besides Rover and Libby, "others" probably will be indicted. I've also noticed that whenever Tweety or Wolf etc have more than one reporter on together, whenever a pointed question is asked about targets, indictments, that the reporters hesitate a beat or two, sometimes sorta glancing at each other before responding vaguely. Also, increasing use of a strange phrase - "publicly known". Interesting epistemology there.

GravatarSpeaking of delay's mugshot. It epitomizes theh repub strategy for the past 5 years. Lie, Spin, and act like you are winning. People will be fooled by the pictures. But underneath it all there is no substance

GravatarSome of the old-line WASP families produce women who cut their own hair, so what can you expect?

Well, not so much. Let us remember that the Shrubbery is in no way anything like 'old-line' or 'aristocratic' or even 'upper' class. Babbsy's people were middle management from upstate New York and a mother who couldn't get an invitation to join Junior League. The Shrubs themselves were exceedingly minor robber barons, largely functionaries. Their pretense at superior background is twaddle.

Gravatar"Store-reh""Store-reh Store-reh!"

GravatarFor anyone who didn't see this last night -- now it's official, or will be come Oct. 24:

"Paul Hackett is running for U.S. Senate," said spokesman David Woodruff, who served as Hackett's campaign manager in his special election campaign for the 2nd District House seat against Rep. Jean Schmidt.
"He is planning to announce his decision officially on Oct. 24," Woodruff said Monday, adding an event would be held that day in Cincinnati, from which Hackett would begin a statewide bus tour.
Hackett was flying back Monday evening from Washington after meeting with Senate Democratic leader Harry Reid of Nevada, Woodruff said. Reid's spokeswoman, Tessa Hefen, would not confirm the meeting too place, but Woodruff later said Reid gave Hackett the confidence to run.
"He found overwhelming support from the leaders of the Democratic Party, campaign organizations and staff," Woodruff said.

GravatarTheir pretense at superior background is twaddle.

Carter did not have FOX and Rush to build a following. Bush does so no matter what he does, there will be at least 25% that cant come to terms that they backed the wrong horse.

GravatarSo what was the deal with DeGuerin's lie about the "mugshot T-shirts"?

Dunno, but it's not a good idea to make a false claim in a Motion to the court. If you were going to claim Move-on was selling those t-shirts, you should provide proof, like "See ad from Move-on's website for DeLay mugshot t-shirt in Exhibit A attached".

GravatarI wonder if the Republicans will decide to cut their losses. Would they ask Bush to resign? I have a funny feeling that whatever plays out in the week will be something nobody anticipated.

Old news. Now the dmes, in typical fashion are split b/c Sherrod was such a pussy that he had to wait for the seat to pretty much be guaranteed b4 he decided to get in, though Hackett will definately get more votes in Ohio then Brown. What if they rip each other to shreds and DeWine somehow wins and as a result there ends up being a 50/50 tie in the Senate. Dems are FAMOUS for ripping defeat out of the jaws of victory.

GravatarThe Lump is developing a more-or-less matronly ass, which ain't all bad.

Karin

I think he made the claim orally, as it is unusual for the judge to respond to an evidentiary assertion in a motion.

But it's a real sign of desperation, IMHO, when you continue the strategy of trying your case in the press, in the courtroom.

GravatarShut up. Bush will never resign. And why should he, because some leftists whine? And I am the imposter Gary. He isn't.

A guy I work with came in the other days and said he was depressed bacause he saw a program on evolution. His despondency came from the fact that we are descended from apes. While I gave him credit for at least acknowledging survival of the fittest, I still laughed his ass out of the office.

And told him he should apologize to monkeys because they have more sense than he does...

GravatarRe: Bush as WASP
Mollys Ivins says pretty clearly Shrub is decoupled from that whole Connecticut old money WASP tradition. He's basically a local west Texas asshole.
.

GravatarDeLay mugshot. Max Planck

OMG that was hilarious - the funny thing, it looks more true and natural than slimbebugs actual mugshot.

Gravatarsallyh, a bit ot, but did I tell you I'm taking a Statistics class in the spring?

Gravatarsorry. but i never said i was nice.

Well, I'd like to post a snappy response to that, but I can't because my brain is still in the washing machine. Check back in about 30 minutes. I think that's how long the :heavy soil" cycle takes.....

GravatarGary Ruppert , fy

ENLIST!!!!!!!!

Gravatar Hello?????????

THE FRIDAY CAT BLOGGING????????????????

Bastards. I hate you and I hate myself right now more than I hate George Bush.
hello - 12:02 pm

Hello Goodbye

GravatarJeffraham, Agent Orange--and I thought it was the chimps in the old Capital One commercial.

Gravatarlavalamp--you did, and I have every confidence you'll do a great job.

GravatarMy idea of a WASP political woman is Happy Rockefeller. Or was.
She just seemed to go about her duty with charm and style.
And yes I do believe she considered it her duty.

GravatarMe too, Mrs. Gear. See at the Four Seasons.

Gravatar"for Prof Thiels latest.
____league"

doesn't tell me the reason, tho...I thought meirs would be the last straw, and she may be yet, that along with heating bills would get the chimp 30% by thanksgiving...but so far, even the base hasn't left him...it's amazing...maybe it was those loyalty oaths they all signed...

GravatarI've heard about the Junior League thing, but I don't know if it's true. Wouldn't surprise me if it were. I haven't read Kitty Kelley's book about the Bushes. Maybe it's in there.

IIRC (and I may not, I read a lot and after a while all the Shrub stuff seems to meld together), this was mentioned in Bush on the Couch. Other places as well, I'm sure.

GravatarFuck the Dumbocrats

GravatarSallyh: Jeffraham--I have kids that come in so poorly prepared from some of the religious schools in the area that I've actually sent some back to take college algebra.

Well, I'm familiar with that, sure -- my part of the world is full of Apocalyptians (my mom's one of 'em). Any time critical thinking or complex thought needs to be applied in a given situation, these folx simply throw up their hands and proclaim, "It doesn't mattter, 'cause Jesus is coming soon!"
.

GravatarTarget?
I need some of those super efficient compact flourescent bulbs.

GravatarOkay. I need to get moving, although my brain is still idling in neutral.

I leave you with this.

GravatarHappy Rockefeller was a marvelous woman.

And she always looked and acted lovely.
.

And her ex died a real sport, the old fashion way...between his secretary's legs!
.

GravatarJeffraham--even if Jesus is coming, they still have to pass the class before he gets here...

GravatarSallyh: Jeffraham, Agent Orange--and I thought it was the chimps in the old Capital One commercial.

Naw, they had to be let go when their manager got caught up in that public masturbation scandal.

The monster.com exec chimps are doing a bang-up job, though.
.

GravatarWithout Chris Squire, it's just:"Maybe."

Excellent point.

I was listening to Yes last night (circa Fragile) and was struck at what a phenomena; axe man Howe is. And I didn't used to think so.

That little bastard was all over the place all of the time. Freaking amazing.

GravatarHe's basically a local west Texas asshole

I adore, admire, and revere Molly, but she couldn't be more wrong on that. And yeah, I know she went to high school with him. imho, Bush is a Texan like I'm a straight woman.

He's a cypher. he's always been whatever is politically convenient for him to be. He is in fact, nothing at all.

GravatarSince it's now a respectable hour on the West Coast, I've got to call a friend of mine in San Diego and se how the Shrub visit went.
Catch you later.

GravatarFor five-hundred dollars guess the number of indictments (along with suspect identities) to win $10,000.

GravatarI grew up in WASP world in the midwest. Though there were some Babs types in this set, they stood out and were generally disapproved of for lack of earnestness.

GravatarGary Ruppert - Someone should remind you that in the future, when historians read over these archives, you will surface as a total fucking asswipe. I suppose that does not bother you?

Even if you had an iota of intelligence, it has not changed a single mind, or even a single thought of those on this and other threads, who generally ignore your assinine comments. Have you no dignity? It is your legacy, go ahead; personally, I could not send a message to future generations that I was a total fucking moran.

GravatarWhich one is it-Slackware, Debian, or Gentoo?

None of the above.
I use SUSE

GravatarThere's a pic of DeLay on DailyKos that's priceless.

I've combined the before and after shots to make a little animorph gif file, using Morpher.

(send the guy $20 - priceless shareware!)
Enjoy.
DeLay's Morphing Mugshot

GravatarThat little bastard was all over the place all of the time. Freaking amazing.
Billy B

Yeah, he was; and the tours that made up the "Yessongs" album proved it. Saw them one night when Wakeman's set up was seriously grinched, leaving him about 2 sounds-- and the guys rocked the hell out of the place. Squire's high pitched bass lines and Rotosound strings were really key to their sound, though.

Gravatar The Lump is developing a more-or-less matronly ass, which ain't all bad.
Lime Rickey

Looks to me like she is one the last women on the face of the planet who wears a girdle.

GravatarWhy do I get banned and not Gary Ruppert?

Maybe my barbs about the Democrats are a lot truer than Gary's

GravatarWhy do I have a sneaking suspicion that shortly after the indictments are handed out, there's going to be a major Presidential Address called announcing the capture of OBL - but no details will be readily available to the press or public just promises of details that will be forthcoming. With the whole MSM training jumping tracks to follow the bait.

Obviously I hope these feelings are incorrect and the only thing I am feeling is gas.

GravatarAnd in the news now from ThinkProgress, another stunning bit of hypocrisy on the part of Tom DeLay:

DeLay takes corporate jet to arraignment

He doesn't even care (or perhaps realize?) that this could easily be seen as a perfect example of the intertwined use of corporate assets and favors.

GravatarBut I'm off to lunch with friends at the Four Seasons and today's feature, the Fitzgerald pool. For five-hundred dollars guess the number of indictments to win $10,000.

That's nice dear. Ta da.

Now I'm off to London. I'm expected to have tea with Queen tomorrow and I want to be fresh.

GravatarPermanent Republican majority?

You better hope not, little man.

GravatarMorning, Moonbatriots.

And lest we forget:

10/22/05 telegraph: US troops fighting losing battle for Sunni triangle

The mob grew more frenzied as the gunmen dragged the two surviving Americans from the cab of their bullet-ridden lorry and forced them to kneel on the street. Killing one of the men with a rifle round fired into the back of his head...

The link is at icasualties.org.

GravatarOh now it's Wilson, Plame and both Clintons who are going to be indicted?

Oh, I'm sure he meant all three. If they could get Socks also, they would. Rumor has it he licked himself once, not unlike Oxycontin Limbaugh.

GravatarI was listening to Yes last night (circa Fragile) and was struck at what a phenomena; axe man Howe is. And I didn't used to think so.

He's certainly the most eclectic guitarist in rock. And he did some great stuff, especially on The Yes Album and Fragile.

Tales From Topographic Oceans, not so much. Maybe the worst tone I've heard in my life.

But I'll always give props to Howe for The Clap. Still one of the most fun tours de force on acoustic.

I was a bass player when I was into Yes, so Chris Squire just amazed me. And Bill Bruford, tremendously underrated drummer. Had a real knack for snare placement, instead of usual Charlie Watts "boom-tap, boom-tap" shit. Really hit his stride in King Crimson.

Final vague Yes memory: the old Yessongs concert video (still have it on VHS somewhere out in the garage), with Rick Wakeman blazing between two keyboard setups, one of them completely covered with empty beer bottles. Wakeman, along with Keith Emerson and Jon Lord, actually made keys seem cool for several years there.

Eh, I think these guys' "wolf" cards are pretty well used up now. And if they actually could produce OBL, Musharraf would instantly be assassinated, and that whole region would be even more fucked up than it is. There's a reason they haven't looked to hard for Osama.

The NYC hoax divered the media for less than half a day. It's all Dear Leader can do now to have his little Potemkin town halls and improvised chats with random troops (heh indeedy). He can barely shore up his own base these days.

The media smell blood, and as long as Fitz comes through with something, anything, they're on the Mayberry Mafia now. It just comes down to whether the Democrats want to start getting proactive for next year, or just continue to stand there with their thumbs in their asses.

GravatarThere'll be no mutant enemy we shall certify. Political threads of sad remains will die.
am i in heaven?

Gravatar" So what was the deal with DeGuerin's lie about the "mugshot T-shirts"?
plantsman

Don't know. But I'll guess one of their advertisers may have. Just a guess.
.
Agent Orange"

Checked into it yesterday, from a tip that the t-shirts were up at talonnews.com. Web page down for 'remodeling.' Moveon.org had nothing of the sort, no shirts for sale. Their disclaimer was on their site about the issue.

I'd say it's just abject, quivering desperation on the part of Tom's folk, like throwing up as much flak as possible.

GravatarThe neo-cons are in deep doo-doo. My question: where are the Democrats?

http://katrinamemo.blogspot.com/ ...mocrats_22.html

Gravatar"doesn't tell me the reason, tho...I thought meirs would be the last straw, and she may be yet, that along with heating bills would get the chimp 30% by thanksgiving...but so far, even the base hasn't left him...it's amazing...maybe it was those loyalty oaths they all signed...
jdw"

Nah. Check their pinkies...

GravatarI just made a Diary entry on Kos and a cross-post on my own blog about the so-called valuation of some of the biggest blogs on the Internet. Some may surprise you.

(Atrios was appraised at $2,118,154.08.)

GravatarI've seen all good people turn their heads each day, and satisfied, I'm on my way...

GravatarWhat's with the Yes references? And You and I, one of my favorites from my HS days. Of course, I was naive and impressionable then, just like Jon Anderson's wimpy lyrics.
