I have never liked Holy Joe -- if he had helped Gore to a clear victory, OK, but he gave the Republicans all the illegal military votes, which made the election close enough for SCOTUS to steal it -- he should have retired in embarrassment & shame at that point!

maybe we could urge the DSCC to make a campaign contribution.
Did you see my message about Elizabeth Edwards on the the thread below -- she gave a speech recently in Charlotte, NC -- her husband says that she is doing well (I liked her better than him anyway -- if he is not a light weight, why do so many people have to spend so much time saying that he is not a light weight -- shouldn't we be able to tell? I can tell that W is a light weight!)

If Leiberman can slip into the Sec-Def position now, he'll be in the right spot to accrue all the credit for the victory in Iraq! The glory galore from that glorious victory could sweep him all the way to the Presidency.
Odd, isn't it, that the Repugs might let a Dem slip in there and get all the glory.
It would be even odder if Lieberman's ascension to Sec-Def coincided with the administration finally admitting everything in Iraq is for shit, and putting the blame on him.
But they wouldn't do that, would they? It wouldn't be honorable.
I don't see why other Dems don't trust the Republicans to the extent that Joe does.

He's not even talking about sacrifice....it's pure, unbridled, "don't question the president during a time of war", Repuke McCarthyism. It's time for the Democratic party to show some balls, make an all out serious effort to run Weicker or some other credible candidate against him, or a primary challenger. Democrats can have different opinions, but this SOB needs to be kicked out of the party, plain and simple...not allowed to hang around as a cancerous tumour like Zell Miller.

Liberman's whole point is that it's one thing to excoriate the president in an election year when urging the voters to replace him, but the election is over and it's in the country's best interest to rally behind the result ("a poor stick but our own" as the Boston Irish pols would have said).
Trust you morons not to get the difference. I thought permanent campaign mode was a Republican innovation but I guess the virus has spread.

Here's what else Lieberman is up to. Sen. Ted Stevens - perhaps feeling a stab of guilt over the bridges to nowhere - is telling his colleagues in the Senate that the folks wiped out by Katrina need help NOW. Here's a quote from the editorial in the New Orleans Times-Picayune:
"There is an extra federal responsibility in cases where levees fail," he said, urging other senators to co-sign a letter to the Department of Justice pressing for relief for flooded-out homeowners.
But there are a couple of foot-draggers:
Unfortunately, Sen. Stevens wasn't able to persuade committee Chairwoman Susan Collins and Vice Chairman Joe Lieberman to go along. The committee, which is investigating the government's response to Katrina, will be looking at the levee breaches in the coming weeks, and Sens. Collins and Lieberman said they hadn't come to any conclusions yet.
I guess they're still trying to decide if those levees really broke, and it seems that compassion may not be one of Holy Joe's strong points.

The rehugs also went after Clinton during Kosova/Bosnia. Congress threatened to cut off funds WHILE our troops were in the midst of battle. Admit it.
Go back and read some of the nastiest comments about "Clinton's war" from DeLay, Lott, and see what treason really is.
This is America, where dissent is crucial to those "freedoms" our soldiers are fighting for.
Wish the mainstream media would call Lieb on his flip-flop.

Joe learn early on that it isn't the people of US he need worry about, but rather the importance of kissing Bush's royal ass because it certainly opens doors, just like Harret Miers and Bob Woodard learn early on, that looking after number one is only thing that matters.

Beside anything else, what kind of peril we risk if the President looses credibility? If one believes that the President lies (this is what Democrats who "distrust" Bush believe) what additional peril to the nation comes from saying so? Our troops resolve will fray and rowing bands of insurgents will reach from their nests in Anbar as far as Connecticut?
Or hesitating terrorists will read a speach of Pelosi or Kucinich and that will clinch their decision to launch an attack?
If you are fear mongering, it behooves you to have some plausible fear to offer.
