Gravatarmmmm...a cup of coffee and fresh thread.

GravatarWonderful new article at Alternet about OSC. Something about student interns routinely dismissing whistleblower complaints as unfounded.... It's a wonderful way to ensure Government accountability!

GravatarMorning, rational people.

GravatarThe official Vatican newspaper published an article this week labeling as "correct" the recent decision by a judge in Pennsylvania that intelligent design should not be taught as a scientific alternative to evolution

Damned Papists. They use the wrong Bible, too.

GravatarOMG.

Is anyone listening to Joe Klein with Rachel on AAR?

GravatarOMG joe kelin is being A SUPER ASSSHOLE to rachel maddow!!!!!

OMG!!!!

WHAT AN ASSHOLE RUDE MUTHERUCKER!!!

GravatarIt's not just that Klein is being an asshole, he doesn't appear to quite know what's going on.

He also seems to have forgotten about a little document called the COnstitution.

GravatarHow dare he talk to her this way. Who the FUCK does he think he is?

Hammer him, Rachel.

GravatarJust thought you might like to advertise here. http://www.milliondollarnokia.com

I'm not affiliated with it, so I'm not spamming, just thought it's cool. Lata

GravatarI'm watching Angel. Thinking is a little beyond me at this stage of the preparations for emBorgment.

Gravatarjoe klein, WHATA FUCKING FUCKHEAD!!!!!!

& HOW FUCKING RUDE!!!!!!

GravatarOh, well, a nice way to start a new thread:

WaPo:

So far, the scandal has had a distinctly Republican focus. The GOP has received nearly two-thirds of the campaign donations from Abramoff's lobbying team and Indian tribal clients, and 100 percent of his personal donations. Federal prosecutors looking into the Abramoff case have so far implicated only a Republican lawmaker, a Bush administration procurement official and GOP aides in charging documents.

Still, Republicans have worked hard to convince voters that any corruption in the capital is bipartisan, alleging Democratic abuses to match the charges against Republicans. Senate Minority Leader Harry M. Reid (D-Nev.), like House Speaker J. Dennis Hastert (R-Ill.), signed a letter in 2002 to Interior Secretary Gail A. Norton on behalf of an Abramoff client around the time he received a large campaign contribution from Abramoff's tribal clients. Edward P. Ayoob, a former Reid aide, was a member of Abramoff's lobbying team.

Gravatarjoe klein is a condescending ASSWIPE!!!!!

GravatarWHAT AN ASSHOLE RUDE MUTHERUCKER!!!

I think you mean "Anonymous".

(Damn, I *should* listen more to Maddow.)

.

GravatarJoe Klein belongs on Fox News. He is treating Rachel the way Sean Hannity treats guests.

GravatarHow dare he indeed, smug arrogant enabler...

GravatarSome things I will miss about America.

GravatarOh gawd ...

Joe Klein: "I live in a town outside NY where 9 people didn't come home after 9/11. Just because the Bush admin is heinhous doesn't mean Al Queda isn't much more heinhous."

"Liberals -- b/c they hate Bush admin so much -- think everything Bush admin does is so wrong -- to the point of absolving the bad guys."

GravatarRachel: "You just told me that my concern his ridiculous but then you told me it was legitimate at the same time."

Klein: "I just think you're stating in a hysterical way."

Oh. "Hysterical." I see.

Fucking piece of shit.

Gravatar[just turned aar on]

Yep. Joe Klein is a motherfucker.

.

Gravatarand that damned NSA spying story just won't die! I mean, why does the media just keep harping on the story?

It's not that the Emperor needs any oversight.

GravatarI'm waiting for the Indian gaming cassino billboard that says "Abramoff Free gambling". 'course, OK has wall to wall casino billboards.

GravatarIs Eschaton related to Spacecutaz?

R2K

GravatarWell, well, liberals!

Turns out that while you're trying to pin the bi-partisan Abramoff scandal on the GOP, you're very own Bill Clinton's ethical problems just won't go away.

GravatarSo we have our answer:

Klein is a membe of the bed-wetters brigade. He's let his hysterical fear of terra color his judgment about the Bushies and the Constitution.

He really shouldn't be writing in national publications. His work belongs in the Captain's Quarters newsletter or some such.

GravatarTurns out that while you're trying to pin the bi-partisan Abramoff scandal on the GOP, you're very own Bill Clinton's ethical problems just won't go away.

Not gonna bother to read the link, but assuming it says that Clinton is eating braised Xtian babies, I guess it's a good thing he's not the FRICKING PRESIDENT anymore.

Little detail that kind of makes a difference.

GravatarHow's the flu?
res ipsa loquitur

The flu's fine, but I'm feeling real washy. Unfortunately, I have two expert witnesses to depose today, which means I'll be dragging my backside into work shortly, hopeful that my voice lasts.

GravatarMi khunt

learn to hate in the present.

Clinton hasn't been the Pres for 5 years

GravatarClinton's ethical problems just won't go away.

Yes; that has all the traction of wet ice on wet ice. Ever see a three-legged cat trying to cover up a turd on a frozen pond?
.

Gravatarwhy does Human Rights Watch hate teh usa?

watch teh apologists spew crap criticizing HRW for it's report that the US's use of torture undermines global human rights....

my question is this: why the fuck do the boston globe, etc. need a 3rd party to tell them that torture is bad if not EVIL? why for that matter do the brainwashed minions or moronacy (the american sheeple!) not understand it either?

GravatarThe hunting of the Hillary continues...

GravatarSee, Clinton was unethical. Therefore, Bush can spy on us, and Abramoff can steal Indian money and give it to Repugs. Makes perfect sense.

GravatarCould you find a new screen name? I mean, it's so dim.

GravatarDiane --

If your voice gives out, try questioning them in semaphore. It'll be a bit tough for the court reporter to transcribe, maybe, but could be fun.

Heh... I already have problems with court reporters who don't have words like "bruisified" in their lexicon.

GravatarMike Hunt,

Regarding your comment:

Well, well, liberals!

Turns out that while you're trying to pin the bi-partisan Abramoff scandal on the GOP, you're very own Bill Clinton's ethical problems just won't go away.

It's "YOUR." Not "you're," but "your." In this context, it is a possessive, not a signifier. Learn English, why don't you.

GravatarIs your name really "spork_incident?" Hmmm?

Of course not.

But my screen name isn't "Mike Hunt".

Heh heh...I get it!

GravatarFor any who are interested (and for those who aren't), I have a poll up at my blog re: who the Dems should run against Santorum. Vote if ya wanna!

http://themadprophet.blogspot.co...ylvania- 06.html

GravatarListening to Joe Klein condescend on the issue of illegal wiretaps was EXACTLY like listening to a creationist talk about speciation. Pompous, arrogant, full of advice that makes no sense, totally bereft of the "nuance" he deems so lacking in others.

Rachel did a good job defending herself as not hysterical, but, probably out of time considerations and courtesy didn't demolish his bogus "reasoning" the way it should have been.

GravatarThe House that Jack Built

To that old campfire ditty.

GravatarIsn't it time for pickles, chimporer's water-boy and vapor minded legal and political spokesperson, to give her daily utterance on daily repug screw-ups?...

GravatarSwifferboat,

I heard that, Klein could not have sounded more like a condescending prick.

He spent most of his time calling Rachel "screaming" which is about as flacid a debaters trick as their is.

GravatarTherefore, Bush can spy on us, and Abramoff can steal Indian money and give it to Repugs.

Wait til the Athabascan contingent show up. With honey. And ants.

What an ijit.

GravatarSomewhere in wingnut land there's an instruction that says 'if you encounter comments that make the WH cabal look bad, throw in anything you can that uses 'Clinton''. If I ever get really, really bored I may try reading their stuff .... maybe not.

GravatarTurns out that while you're trying to pin the bi-partisan Abramoff scandal on the GOP, you're very own Bill Clinton's ethical problems just won't go away.
Mike Hunt

Funny, seems the problems did, now that the investigation wrapped up.

And that has what exactly to do with the GOP's indicted and guilty-pleading corrupt motherfuckers or Bush's illegal wiretapping?

Gravatarwhich is about as flacid a debaters trick as their is.

GravatarMaybe Klein was missing a little ego satisfaction, and needed to make the Media Matters headline.

Or possibly, the internet newsmagazine headline at this fine publication for 'wanker of the day'.

Maybe, both.

GravatarAttaturk:

Did you catch Maron on "Conan" last night? His new show starts Feb-13.

GravatarJoe Klein: "I live in a town outside NY where 9 people didn't come home after 9/11. Just because the Bush admin is heinhous doesn't mean Al Queda isn't much more heinhous."

What kind of argument is this, really?

"They're worse then we are, so we can be as bad as we wanna be"?

That's all you got, Klein? That's your defense of "western civilization" and Jeffersonian democracy and due process of law, some of the greatest achievements of human history?

GravatarWarren Piece?

GravatarGood morning, moonbats.

res, thanks for the head's up on Joe Klein. I'll be sure to follow that clip.

He is a tool. And embarrassing tool.

GravatarOf course how Klein kept his pundit's license after speculating in print about who the author of primary colors...when he was that author..

GravatarJoke line?

GravatarSee, Clinton was unethical.

This piece is about his pardoning of Henry Cisneros. Big deal. Cisneros's little youthful indiscretion - hey, it worked for the then-50 Henry Hyde - wouldn't even get noticed today. No, the Bushies have reminded everyone what REAL scandals are all about. $38 billion missing, a $300 billion to $2 trillion bogus war they lied to get us into, outing a CIA operative and destroying the entire operation she was involved in and the careers and possibly lives of the others involved, a male whore who comes and goes in the White House hired by the administrationto pretend to be a journalist, a city lost through total incompetence of the supposed action-figure make-us-safe administration, record deficits that have us owing a communist nation $1 trillion, childish and churlish behavior with other heads of state that you'd spank a 10 year old for, illegal domestic spying, no-bid contracts for Halliburton that just so happened to make Dick Cheney a 3000% return on his options... Bush excels at one thing: no one comes close to fucking things up. As a CEO he makes Ken Lay look brilliant. Oh yeah, and what about the hushed-up connections between his former biggest benefactor Kenny Boy Enron and Bush?

GravatarBush breaking YET ANOTHER law.

WASHINGTON, Jan. 18 - A legal analysis by the nonpartisan Congressional Research Service concludes that the Bush administration's limited briefings for Congress on the National Security Agency's domestic eavesdropping without warrants are "inconsistent with the law."

He can't stop himself. He's a career criminal. He is without hope for rehabilitation, either. A danger to society.

Lock him up and throw away the key.

GravatarNow I go to work so the neocreeps can keep killing whoever they choose.

I hear ya. My neocreep wants to create a new job for me. I wish he'd just leave me the fuck alone.

Gravatar"Attacking the opposition" is what wingnuts do to establish street cred. It's like one big playground game to them.
gonzo

And, as on the playground, all that matters is power.

Which is why the evisceration of the constitutional system, right down to making the President the supreme lawgiver, is so important to them.

And Klein is just looking for the right teat to suck when the Roundheads take over.

GravatarKlein started off the interview on the defensive. He knows he's full of crap. Instead of talking about substantive issues he accused Rachel of being "hysterical."

GravatarOf course how Klein kept his pundit's license after speculating in print about who the author of primary colors...when he was that author..
Atrios

Do you see now how Clinton's lies led to a whole culture of corruption?

Honestly, can you hold poor Mr. Klien accountable in the face of circumstances like that?

GravatarBlack-jack Abramoff.

GravatarDo you see now how Clinton's lies led to a whole culture of corruption?

That man should be locked up for all the trouble he causes.

Gravatarafternoon moonbats

GravatarHoot!

GravatarFrom todays news:

Diplomats Will Be Shifted to Hot Spots

"Under the plan outlined yesterday, Rice will expand the U.S. presence by encouraging the spread of new one-person diplomatic outposts, now located in a few cities such as Alexandria, Egypt, and Medan, Indonesia. "There are nearly 200 cities worldwide with over 1 million people in which the United States has no formal diplomatic presence," Rice said. "This is where the action is today."

What they fail to tell you is that each one person diplomatic outpost will be guarded by 30,000 U.S. troops. When all is in place and linked up, the world as we know it today will be called ...... "Compound America."

GravatarPerhaps Mr. KHunt should read the WHOLE article he cites:

"Former officials of the Justice Department and the I.R.S. dismissed Mr. Barrett's conclusions in appendices attached to the report, saying the findings were the product of an inquiry that was incompetently managed from the start. "

Imagine that, more lies from the administration of nothing but lies. You don't suppose this report was released just now as a diversionary tactic, do you?

GravatarJoe Klein: "I live in a town outside NY where 9 people didn't come home after 9/11. Just because the Bush admin is heinhous doesn't mean Al Queda isn't much more heinhous."

And how, exactly, is spying on Quakers going to help this effort? I know: into the way-back machine! Immediately - not 6 weeks - after the attack, send a large force, not 14,000 troops, into Afghanistan. Put Saudi and Pakistan on notice, since these were Saudi and Pakistani nationals. DON'T let the Bin Ladens in the US have special privileges to round up and head out - detain the fuckers, as you would anyone else. Hell, take em to Gitmo if you're so all-fired up to torture someone. Don't outsource the finding of Bin Laden.

Use your resources to secure our ports, airports, refineries, chemical plants, nuclear plants, bio-research facilities, etc. Get FISA warrants if you want to spy domestically. Make sure you have a non-idiot in charge of FEMA. Don't waste your time and energy on a new bureaucracy and color codings. Broaden the anti-terrorist response unit programs in the military. Train first responders.

Or you can do the Joe Klein approved solution: hide in Westchester county while the Constitution that survived the British Empire, Civil War, Nazi Germany, Imperial Japan, and the 10,000-nuke Soviet Union is shredded for no apparent utility.

GravatarCat Fight!

GravatarIt's "YOUR." Not "you're," but "your." In this context, it is a possessive, not a signifier. Learn English, why don't you.

GravatarAvoiding a War with Iran

Mike Whitney

January 18, 2006

The march to war with Iran is continuing apace despite skyrocketing gold prices, a jittery oil market, and the unrelenting chaos in nearby Iraq.

Are we surprised?

The control of Middle East oil has always been a central part of the neocon strategy for global domination. That won’t change.

The toppling of Iran’s theocratic regime would consolidate dwindling resources under the stars and stripes and guarantee continued supremacy of US financial institutions, American energy giants, and the faltering greenback. Additionally, it would defang a potential rival to an emergent Israel, which sees itself as the prevailing power in the region.

Game; set; match!

There have been many signs that war is imminent, perhaps, none as convincing as the unexpected announcement last year that both General Electric and Halliburton were picking up stakes and leaving Iran.

Is Halliburton normally that squeamish about ethical issues related to trading with nations boycotted by the US?

The recess appointment of mad-hatter John Bolton as ambassador to the UN was another indication that Washington was on the warpath. The fiery Bolton was "back-doored" into his position against the strong dissent of Democratic senators for one reason alone; to bully the Security Council into another preemptive war. He hasn’t disappointed.

Just yesterday, Bolton lashed out in one of his familiar tirades saying, "This will be a test for the Council, and appropriately so, because the Iranian pursuit of nuclear weapons and ballistic missile delivery systems threatens their region and threatens the world as a whole."

Whoa!

No one except Bolton and his neocon friends in the hard-right think-tanks have made such unsupportable allegations. Could it be that the whole nuclear weapons issue is just a convenient pretext for war?

Could it be (as the Downing Street Memo avers) that the "facts and intelligence are being fixed around the policy"?

Condoleezza Rice has added her voice to the chorus of right-wing pundits and politicos who want to expand the war in the Middle East. Just yesterday she said, "We’ve got to finally demonstrate to Iran that it can’t with impunity just cast aside the just demands of the international community." Then she added ominously, "(The president) always keeps all his options open."

The "demands of the international community" never factor in to the decision making process at the Bush White House; nor do the facts. As yet, there’s no concrete proof that Iran is in violation of its treaty requirements under the terms of the NPT (Nonproliferation Treaty). The case before the IAEA is a feeble rehashing of breaches that date back more than 2 years. Since then, Iran has been under the strictest inspection regimen ever devised by the watchdog agency.

The results have shown no evidence that Iran has a nuclear weapons program; as IAEA Chief Mohamed ElBaradei said, "We don’t see a clear and present danger".

This is bad news for the war-mongers.

Given the sketchiness of the allegations, it’s looking increasingly uncertain that the case will go beyond the IAEA to the UN Security Council. However, one should never underestimate the persuasive powers of the Bush diplomatic team.

Presently, the US, Britain and Israel are pushing hard to have the case referred to the UN-5, (the 5 permanent members of the Security Council) but Russia and China are understandably reluctant. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov was unwilling to even discuss sanctions on Iran saying, "Sanctions are not the best way to solve international problems"; dismissing the suggestion as "putting the cart before the horse."

Chinese Foreign Minister Kong Quan was equally hesitant to support any move that would bring Iran before the Council saying, "We think the most urgent thing for all the parties now is to still keep patient and make the utmost efforts to resume the negotiations between the EU-3 and Iran".

Never the less, the Bush administration believes it can garner the necessary votes to bring Iran before the Security Council and, perhaps, win support for punitive action.

The European allies remain deeply skeptical. After all, Europe and China depend heavily on Iranian oil and natural gas. (China imports 17% of its oil from Iran) So, any major disruption of supplies or closing down of the Straights of Hormuz would have a catastrophic effect on their economies.

In a worrisome article in the Christian Science Monitor, "On Iran, the West looks for a Plan" reporter Howard LaFranchi notes, "For some experts the time is ripe to prepare the world economy for living without Iranian oil—by developing pipelines in the oil-rich Gulf region to circumvent Iran-dominated transport routes"…."countries should take steps now to ease the burden of future moves".

"If you’re not prepared to do this", says Henry Sokolski, executive director of the Nonproliferation Policy Education Center of Washington, "you’re not going to do very much."

"Living without Iranian oil"?!?

This shows us how grave the situation really is, and how the administration and Israel may be willing to disrupt the global economy and sent oil prices shooting through the ceiling to achieve there mutual objectives.

Still, there’s the nettlesome problem of whether Iran is guilty of the breaches in the NPT for which it stands accused. It could be that the administration is simply wrong as it was about Iraq.

It’s also worth considering that the mere existence of WMD cannot be considered a legitimate rationale for aggression; a point that now seems to be an article of faith among liberals and conservatives alike. The possession of WMD neither proves "intention" nor "imminent threat". If the production of WMD legitimized preemptive action, than the United States would be a justifiable target for every other nation in the world.

In Iran’s case, we have no evidence of a nuclear weapons program or of non-compliance. Rather, we have the Bush administration asking its allies to deprive Iran of its "inalienable rights" under the NPT; to enrich uranium for peaceful purposes.

Nuclear weapons expert Gordon Prather points out the flaws in the administration’s position when he repeats the comments of Iran’s Foreign Minister Kamal Kharrazi in his recent article "What Noncompliance?"

Kharrazi says:

"The 'inalienable right’ of states to develop nuclear technology for peaceful purposes emanates from the universally accepted proposition that scientific and technological achievements are the common heritage of mankind…. It is unacceptable that 'some’ intend to limit the access to peaceful nuclear technology to an exclusive club of technologically advanced states under the pretext of 'nonproliferation’. This attitude is in clear violation of the letter and spirit of the treaty and destroys the fundamental balance which exists between the rights and obligations in the treaty."

"Scientific …achievements are the common heritage of mankind."

Amen.

Neither the United States nor the world community has the right to deprive Iran of the peaceful use of nuclear technology.

The United Nations should be looking for ways to strengthen the existing treaty and avert an impending war.

As Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov opined, "Our common goal is to ensure the viability of the nuclear nonproliferation regime. If we all strive for this main goal, we will be able to find a collective approach to solving this issue."

GravatarKorea to Field Candidate for Top UN Post This Year

By Park Song-wu
Staff Reporter

South Korea is ``seriously'' thinking of fielding a candidate to succeed U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Ban Ki-moon told reporters in New York on Wednesday.

He stopped by the American city on his way to Washington, D.C. where he was to attend the inaugural ``strategic consultations'' between South Korea and the United States at the State Department on Thursday.

``It is true that the (South) Korean government has been seriously considering the idea of presenting a Korean national as a candidate to succeed Kofi Annan,'' he said after a 45-minute meeting with the U.N.'s top diplomat from Ghana.

Annan's second five-year term ends on Dec. 31.

Ban declined to answer a question on the possibility of announcing his candidacy to fill the post, saying that Seoul has not yet made any official decision.

But he said that the next secretary-general should come from Asia. ``I understand that there is a general consensus among the member states (of the United Nations) that it is Asia's turn,'' he said.

The top U.N. post does not rotate, but there is wide expectation that the next official to fill it will come from Asia.

Two Asian contenders have already declared their bids _ Thai Deputy Prime Minister Surakiart Sathirathai, who is backed by the 10-member Association of Southeast Asian Nations, and Sri Lankan peace negotiator Jayantha Dhanapala.

The only Asian to have been U.N. secretary-general was U Thant of Myanmar, who served from 1961 to 1971.

Ban also held a meeting with John Bolton, U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, who afterwards said that he has known Ban since the Korean diplomat was working in Washington and has ``a very high regard for him,'' according to the Associated Press.

Bolton said they discussed a number of issues, and the next secretary-general ``was one of them,'' the wire news service reported.

The U.N. secretary-general is appointed by the 191-nation General Assembly on the recommendation of the Security Council.

A candidate needs the approval of nine of the 15 council members and can be vetoed by any of the five permanent member states _ the United States, Russia, China, Britain and France.

A career diplomat with in-depth knowledge of the United Nations, Ban served as the nation's chief envoy to the world body from 2001 to 2003 and also acted as the chief secretary to former U.N. General Assembly president Han Seung-soo.

GravatarAnn Coulter: Mainstream Democrat!

Dick Morris thinks the Democrats have an opportunity to ride ethics issues and a general discontent with Congress to major gains in November. Today, though, he argues that the Dems are shooting themselves in the foot by attacking President Bush's efforts to keep the country safe from terrorism. Morris discusses the same Fox News poll we reviewed last week:

Democrats who criticize President Bush for using warrantless wiretaps to elicit information about potential terrorist activity should be aware that the American people strongly support his decision to do so.

The Fox News poll of Jan. 11 asked voters whether the president "should have the power to authorize the National Security Agency to monitor electronic communications of suspected terrorists without getting warrants, even if one end of the communication is in the United States?" By 58 percent to 36 percent, the answer was "yes." Indeed, 42 percent of the nation's Democrats agreed that the president should have this power. *** Respondents support renewal of the Patriot Act by 57 percent to 31 percent. (Even Democrats only oppose renewal by 40-47.)

And those who called attention to the NSA policy of warrant-less wiretaps are called "traitors" by 50 percent of the voters and "whistleblowers" by only 27 percent. Democrats opted for "traitors" by 42 percent to 34 percent.

In other words, Ann Coulter represents the Democratic mainstream better than Al Gore on this one!

Once again, liberals are misreading the public's heavy doubts about the wisdom of the war in Iraq and our ability to win. These are pragmatic concerns, not an embrace of the left's take on national security. In fact, there is a broad and deep consensus when it comes to homeland security, which any politician defies at the risk of losing support.

Nor did the NSA wiretaps break the law. The president's inherent power as commander in chief allows them.

Ex-GOP congressman to join CNN roster

CNN has hired former Republican congressman J.C. Watts Jr. to provide political commentary. The addition of Watts, who was elected in 1994 to represent Oklahoma and served four terms, adds a conservative voice as CNN gears up for coverage of this year's elections.

"J.C. is one of the most respected and effective conservative communicators in the nation's capital," CNN/U.S. President Jon Klein said Wednesday in a prepared statement.

Atlanta-based CNN also is expected to add commentator Bill Bennett to its lineup. The changes come in the wake of the departure of Robert Novak, who contributed to CNN for many years. Novak is now with Fox News Channel.

On Tuesday, CNN's sister network, CNN Headline News, announced it will start airing a program with conservative radio host Glenn Beck as host.

> Also: "The Journal Editorial Report," a TV program featuring staffers from The Wall Street Journal, will debut on Fox News at 11 p.m. Jan. 21 in what will be its regular Saturday night time slot. The program, which formerly appeared on PBS, also will run at 6 a.m. Sundays on Fox.

Longtime Cisneros probe comes to close

PETE YOST
Associated Press

WASHINGTON - The independent counsel who investigated former Housing Secretary Henry Cisneros charged in his final report Thursday that the Clinton administration thwarted his work, drawing the curtain on the longest-ever probe under a post-Watergate era reform law.

Officials who worked in the Clinton administration flatly deny the allegations by prosecutor David M. Barrett. The prosecutor concluded a decade-long probe with a report that asserts, among other things, a behind-the-scenes battle inside the government as he tried to look into possible tax violations by Cisneros.

Cisneros, who was housing secretary during the Clinton administration, pleaded guilty in 1999 to a misdemeanor of lying to the FBI about payments to a former mistress when he was answering questions during his confirmation for the Cabinet-level post. President Clinton eventually pardoned him.

When Barrett went to the Department of Justice seeking to broaden the probe, Attorney General Janet Reno allowed the prosecutor to look into only a single tax year, the report maintains.

It says the Internal Revenue Service in Washington took an investigation of Cisneros out of the hands of district-level officials in Texas, then concluded the evidence was too weak to merit a criminal inquiry.

"Beginning in the summer of 1997, the OIC developed, to the extent it could, evidence concerning efforts by officials of DOJ and the IRS to contain and limit the investigation of Cisneros's actions," the report stated.

"In the end enough high-ranking officials with enough power were able to blunt any effort to bring about a full and independent examination of Cisneros' possible tax offenses in the face of what seemed to many to be obvious grounds for such an inquiry," the report added.

In strongly worded rebuttals, officials from the Justice Department and IRS said that Barrett's investigation was incompetently managed from the start.

"The inaccurate statements and unfair insinuations contained in this final report are too numerous to catalogue," said the former deputy chief of the Justice Department's Public Integrity Section. The report is "misleading, incomplete and an abuse of prosecutorial discretion," wrote the former assistant chief counsel for criminal tax matters at the IRS.

Robert S. Litt, one of the Justice Department officials involved, called Barrett's suggestions of obstruction "a scurrilous falsehood," adding that the report was "a fitting conclusion to one of the most embarrassingly incompetent and wasteful episodes in the history of American law enforcement."

Barrett's report is the last chapter in the controversial history of the independent counsel law, which Congress refused to renew. The investigations caused serious political damage to both Republican and Democratic administrations.................

GravatarLes Documents du Niger

Senate Trial Exhibit___
Apparently even the right wing is getting truthy. Judicial watch, a conservative legal group, obtained declassification of a State Department Intelligence Bureau memo from early 2002. Guess what? The memo says that sale of large quantities of Niger uranium to Iraq was "unlikely" given the numerous logistic, diplomatic and economic obstacles. For one, delivery would have required "25 hard to conceal 10 ton tractor-trailers" crossing 1000 miles and at least one international border. The memo is dated a year before King George's 16 words in the State of the Union address.

Truthiness marches on: Joe Wilson was not the only American investigator sent to Niger. Like your truth from a man in uniform? We got it! Carlton Fulford Jr. a four star was also sent to Niger, and he too conlcuded that the yellowcake supply was secure.

The cabal not only inored reality they created it, just like they said they would. The White House had no comment about the latest evidence of their duplicity. Gee, I quess not!

Gravatar$1.5B to keep a nation channel-surfing

By EVAN LEHMANN, Sun Washington Bureau

WASHINGTON -- Millions of analog television sets are scheduled to go blank in three years. Swiveling the rabbit ears or bending the coat hanger won't bring back the picture, ever.

Congress is poised to create a $1.5 billion program next month that would help purchase converter boxes for the estimated 21 million American households that rely on over-the-air broadcasts.

Each household could request two government-issued coupons worth $40 each to soften the purchase of set-top boxes that would convert the digital data into analog transmissions. Only one coupon, which must be requested by the user, could be applied to the purchase of each box. The coupons would expire after three months.

The nation's broadcasters are scheduled to switch over to digital television on Feb. 17, 2009. The move will free the airwaves for emergency-communication equipment used by first responders, and for more-profitable enterprises like wireless Internet.

Lawmakers from both parties acknowledge that the nation's poor stand to be hurt by the digital conversion. Elderly and minority populations especially rely on free television. But Republicans maintain that the coupon program will offset their costs.........

GravatarPresident Meets With Victims of Saddam's Regime

President Bush today called the trial of Saddam Hussein an important milestone for Iraq.

"One of the interesting moments will come here this year when Saddam Hussein's trial is brought forth for the world to see -- to see the butcher, the person who brutalized many people or ordered the brutality of many people here at this table get his due justice under rule of law," Bush told a group of visiting Iraqi citizens who had been abused during Saddam's regime.

"It's been my honor to visit with folks who know firsthand the brutality of Saddam Hussein," Bush said. "These are folks who have suffered one way or the other, because the tyrant was a law unto himself and was willing to deny people basic human rights."

Bush said the stories he heard were compelling and replete with "sadness" and "bravery."

"In the course of our discussion, we were also able to talk about what a contrast it is between a society which was willing to jail people and torture people and beat people and kill people, to a society that is beginning to understand the fruits of democracy and freedom," he said.

In his remarks, the president stated that Iraq has been largely transformed for the better over the past year because millions of Iraqis, in the face of insurgent attacks, were brave enough to go to the polls and vote for a new government and constitution.

"It's a testimony to the courage of the Iraqi people," Bush said. "The Iraqi people are brave and courageous and smart people."

The president acknowledged there is still a lot work to be done in Iraq, but that the U.S. intends to complete what it started.

"I assured the folks here that our mission in Iraq is to stand with the Iraqi people until we achieve our goals: Iraq that can secure itself, defend itself; an Iraq that will not be a safe haven for the terrorists," Bush said..........http://www.noticias.info/asp/ aspComunicados.asp?nid=138010&src=0

GravatarU.S. Sen. Dick Durbin says no to Alito

January 19, 2006 - U.S. Sen. Dick Durbin, the Senate's second-highest ranking Democrat, said Thursday he will vote against confirmation of Samuel Alito as the nation's 110th Supreme Court Justice.

Durbin, a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, said he will oppose the nomination of the federal appeals court judge when it comes for a vote next week because Alito has failed to show he would protect privacy rights.

"Based on his record, I'm concerned that Judge Alito will not be willing to stand up to a president who is determined to seize too much power over our personal lives," Durbin said in a statement.

He also criticized Alito for being guarded at his confirmation hearings, noting that the New Jersey native would not even clearly say whether he is a Bruce Springsteen fan.

//

Democrats have argued that Alito, a former Reagan administration lawyer, would likely swing the court to the right in replacing the centrist Justice Sandra Day O'Connor, who has provided decisive votes on issues such as abortion, capital punishment and affirmative action.

President Bush selected the 55-year-old Alito after White House counsel Harriet Miers withdrew her nomination amid withering criticism from conservatives.

Bulls 106, Knicks 104 in OT

January 19, 2006 - Antonio Davis thought his wife was in danger, so the New York Knicks forward dashed over the scorer's table and into the stands during a timeout in overtime.

Just like that, an already heated game between the Knicks and Chicago Bulls evoked memories of last season's brawl between the Detroit Pistons and Indiana Pacers.

One difference, though.

Only words, not punches, were exchanged.

//

"I witnessed my wife being threatened by a man that I learned later to be intoxicated," Davis said in a statement issued after the game. "I saw him touch her, and I know I should not have acted the way I did, but I would have felt terrible if I didn't react. There was no time to call security. It happened too quickly."

Ben Gordon hit a game-winning jumper at the buzzer and scored 32 points for the Bulls in a 106-104 overtime victory Wednesday, but Davis' dash into the stands became the flash point of the game.

Davis ascended about 10 rows to reach his wife, Kendra, during a timeout with 1:04 left. There was no physical confrontation after he got there, but several people were pointing and shouting for a few moments before security arrived.

No arrests had been made as of early Thursday morning, police said...........http://abclocal.go.com/wls/story? section=sports&id=3825925

GravatarGoogle Fights Subpoena Of Records

POSTED: 12:51 pm EST January 19, 2006

SAN JOSE, Calif. -- A lawyer at Google says it will vigorously fight a government demand for information on what its customers have been searching for.

The Bush administration has subpoenaed details on what Google's users find through its popular Internet search engine.

Papers filed by the Justice Department on Wednesday in California say Google refused to comply with a subpoena last year. The feds asked for a range of material from Google's databases, including a request for 1 million random Web addresses and records of all Google searches from any one-week period

The government said it needs the data to learn how often online searches find pornography. Officials said they need that information to help revive an Internet child protection law the Supreme Court shot down two years ago.

The law required adults to register to get access to porn.

Google promises to protect personal information. But the company's privacy policy says it complies with legal and government requests.

GravatarQ&A With Online Innovator Rob Curley

Garrett Hubbard/Naples Daily News

Rob Curley says the pending redesign and relaunch of Scripps' Naples (Fla.) Daily News will be either really special, "or when I get fired, it will be referred to as the 'Naples Incident.'"
By Jay DeFoore

Published: December 19, 2005 6:35 PM ET

NEW YORK When you point your browser to BonitaNews.com, the first visual clue that this is no ordinary newspaper Web site is the 960-pixel wide photo that jumps out from your monitor. But go deeper into the site and you soon learn that there's much, much more to this little Web site than splashy graphics.

The site, which is the younger sibling to the bigger Naples (Fla.) Daily News, is a testing ground of sorts for parent company E.W. Scripps, which is letting new media director Rob Curley and his ever-expanding online team build the site largely to their own specs.

In addition to the daily news, features, and multimedia storytelling found on the site, BonitaNews.com is bursting with innovative offerings such as daily podcasts, video clips, searchable databases you can download to your iPod, and thousands of pages on high school athletes.

Curley says the site is a model not only for the soon to be re-launched NaplesNews.com, but also for all that a newspaper Web site can and should be. Curley answered the following questions about the site, his thoughts on citizen journalism, and the benefits of open-source Web development.

How are the redesigns of NaplesNews.com and BonitaNews.com coming? What can we expect to see from the new sites?

We're hoping to launch a new temporary re-design/update of naplesnews.com before Christmas. To be honest, if I have to look at that old naplesnews.com site much more I'm going to jump off Naples Pier with a meat vest on. After we get this temporary design up, we'll then come back and give naplesnews.com a proper re-design sometime in 2006.

The very first thing we were asked to do when we got here was build a new site for our revamped Bonita daily newspaper. That whole process has felt more like a start-up than I thought it would, and that's been just fine with me.

We're taking lots of chances with everything from content to presentation to advertising to how we run the daily operations for our geeks working in the nerdery.

This is the youngest staff I've ever worked with because most of the folks that came with me from Lawrence were actually interns there, and it's been a blast to see them not only work so hard that you can hardly believe it, but come up with these cool new ideas that make you just want buy them another Red Bull with a Mountain Dew chaser.

They're fearless, and they have the talent and work ethic to back it up.

Every time I look at the new BonitaNews.com, which we quietly launched in September and had only four-to-six weeks of work behind it, I can't believe how much is on there, nearly all of which had........http://www.editorandpublisher.com/ eandp/departments/online/article_display.jsp? vnu_content_id=1001700827

GravatarUpdate outdated tradition — resolve to get informed

April Jo Love
Editor

January 19, 2006

It’s a new year, an opportunity to let go of the dids and did nots of 2005 and focus on the potential of 2006.

I’m not much for New Year’s resolutions, but somehow I find myself making the same vacant promises every year — lose a few pounds, avoid the snooze button, keep in touch with old friends.

And every year I do great … for the first week and a half. Then I start classes, work and an attempt at a life.

Who has time for Thighmasters and carrots when there’re bills, grades and an ever-growing pile of dirty dishes in the sink?

I was all for boycotting the idea this year as an outdated tradition, determined to forgo my yearly self-inflicted inevitable failure.

But as I began branding my new calendar with Xs, I decided my inability to commit came from an unconscious lack of motivation.

Sure, I say I want to give up chocolate, but let’s be honest, when I’m tired, annoyed or depressed, there’s nothing strong enough to keep me and Mr. Candy Bar apart. Its one of the most reliable relationships in my life.

With that analysis, I resolved to stop resolving over decreasing dress sizes and instead focus on increasing brain capacity.

Yep, I’m going to read the news.

Now I deeply appreciate those of you who assume I’m a news nerd because my picture appears at the top of A7 every week.

Thanks, really, but while I might be above the curve in comparison to many of my peers, my current events knowledge is hardly acceptable for a 23-year-old about to enter the work force with the expectation of being treated as an educated adult.

And I’m not alone.

According to the Newspaper Association of America, a little less than 40 percent of 18- to 34-year-olds read the newspaper daily.

Now, if you’re reading this in class (which you shouldn’t be, but hey, readership is readership to us), look around you.

Of the person in front of you and in back, to your right and left, only two of you have any idea that a child is dead because of a pellet gun or that two escaped convicts are on the run.

I know. You’re still not convinced it matters — at least not enough to skip “Sex in the City” reruns or ESPN updates.

The next time a Katrina-size storm rolls over the South, you’ll know. And when a plane shatters glass and topples buildings, you’ll tune in.

Hate to break it to you, but you get no bonus points for acknowledging the sky is blue.

Are you really that impressed when your significant other remembers your birthday?

Of course not. It’s part of the deal.

Same rules apply. If the entire earth shakes and when asked what happened, you reply, “The ground moved,” you’re still ignorant.

Here’s how news works. The big stuff, everyone will know about it, and rightly so. You don’t get to feel smart for that type of knowledge.

You also win little to no IQ points for knowing the celebrity couple who most recently filed for divorce, the status of TomKat’s wedding plans or the name of Britney Spears’ baby.

Being up-to-date means you know the issues, the concerns and the conflicts, not just the events that have come to represent them.

“A student once told me that following the news is like keeping up with a math class you’ve entered halfway through the semester,” David Mindich, former CNN editor and author of “Tuned Out: Why Americans Under 40 Don’t Follow the News,” told the American Press Institute during an interview.

News is complicated, and it can even be a little scary to enter the adult world where business, history, economics and politics all converge on one black-and-white page.

But there’s more to it than that. If you read between the lines, if you get past the headline, you’ll find psychology, sociology and the arts.

You’ll find normal people facing fairly normal problems.

If you take the time, you’ll find news that affects you, and you’ll understand how. Then you’re above the curve.

I’m far from it. But I’m determined to be better, to stop being another member in my generation my grandparents blame the world’s growing stupidity on.

I’m determined to not enter the professional world that way. I’m determined to be able to contribute to the water cooler conversation instead of hiding behind my cubicle.

So get determined. Whether you read it, watch it or listen to it, it doesn’t matter. Just get informed.

What the heck. Go ahead and make it a New Year’s resolution. Then you have to stick to it, right?

'Brokeback's' Oscars lead ushers in 'year of the queer'
- -

Los Angeles: With the cowboy romance "Brokeback Mountain" leading a posse of gay-themed movies in the Oscars race, Hollywood is ushering in the "year of the queer," activists and film experts say.

Six awards went to movies with gay or transgender characters at Monday's Golden Globe Awards with Ang Lee's "Brokeback" roping in four, making it the firm favourite for Tinseltown's top honours, the Oscars, nominations for which will be unveiled in less than two weeks.

"Its emerging as the year of the queer in Hollywood," said Larry Gross, a professor at the Annenberg School of Communications at University of Southern California and an author on gay issues. "Brokeback" won four Globes, including best drama, best director and best screenplay, Felicity Huffman won the best dramatic actress award for playing a man about to under a sex change in "Transamerica," and Philip Seymour Hoffman won the best dramatic award for his portrayal of gay US author Truman Capote in the biopic "Capote," making him an Oscars favourite.

Awards pundits said "Brokeback" is now in pole position to rein in awards that could include best picture, best director and best actor for star Heath Ledger, while gay groups and academics say they hope the homosexual content this awards season could mean that gay is in Hollywood to stay. "Between Hoffman and Huffman and 'Brokeback Mountain,' there certainly does seem to be a gay trend in this year's awards season, at least on the face of it," Gross said.

Gay groups applauded the recognition and the spotlight it threw on the homosexual community, which has long complained of being sorely underrepresented in Hollywood.

GravatarJanet Street-Porter: Middle-aged dads and double standards

What all these old dads have in common is younger wives, wealth and no time

Published: 19 January 2006

What kind of message does the news that Gordon Brown is to be a father at the age of 54 send to women? Am I alone in thinking that the sight of a wrinkly, grey, washed-out, middle-aged man holding a tiny little pink thing in a nappy is faintly disgusting? For you can rest assured that, for every elderly father-to-be, in the background there will be a woman with bags under her eyes, inches on her hips and a fixed grin on her face doing all the work the new arrival will entail.

Let's remember that Mr Brown is a politician in crisis. He is seeking to reassure us he's the right person to be our next political leader. Leave aside for one moment the faintly repellent situation in which, although we live in a democracy, the current Prime Minister has already decided to tell us who should succeed him. Gordon's problem is electoral politics, which already dominate his time in waiting. With another dad-to-be, David Cameron, making all the headlines with his new, groovy green Tory party, he had to reinvent himself.

GravatarFive protesters killed as UN peacekeepers open fire in Ivory Coast

By John Lichfield in Paris

Published: 19 January 2006

Ivory Coast is tottering on the brink of renewed civil war after at least five people died in violent confrontations between UN peacekeepers and youthful supporters of President Laurent Gbagbo. Young "patriots" blocked the streets of Abidjan, the country's economic capital, for the third day to protest against a proposal to dissolve the pro-Gbagbo national assembly.

In the town of Guiglo, west of the capital, UN troops from Bangladesh fired on protesters who tried to storm their compound. Officials said at least five people had died.

The growing violence in the Ivory Coast, mostly aimed at UN buildings, vehicles and troops, has drawn angry comments from the United Nations secretary general, Kofi Annan. On Tuesday, he came close to accusing President Gbagbo of fomenting the protests to impede the efforts of a UN-sponsored peace process to broker an end to the conflict which split the country into north and south in 2002-03.

Mr Annan protested against "the orchestrated violence directed against the United Nations ... as well as the inaction of some national authorities in responding to the situation".

Yesterday, France, the former colonial power in Ivory Coast, which has its own military force in the west African country, warned President Gbagbo that the patience of foreign mediators was wearing thin.

The French army chief of staff, General Henri Bentegeat, said he believed the time had come for UN sanctions against Ivory Coast, and the Security Council is planning to target Ivory Coast leaders. Although the country remains the world's largest producer of cocoa, its economy has been impoverished by almost four years of intermittent fighting. "The UN Security Council has warned for a long time that sanctions are needed," General Bentegeat said. "The international community is growing tired of the manifest bad faith of both sides."

GravatarDoes someone smell gas???

No, this story isn't about a stinky student (though, after gym class, they can be pretty ripe!) I had a special education student who was really just a piece of crap. He was HUMONGOUS and just looking for a way to piss me off. He would just sit in his chair, day by day, and refuse to work. He would carve his name in the desk, rip up his papers, or harrass every girl in sight. One day he went too far.

The entire class was involved in a lab. I saw him lurking near my desk, but was trying to help all the kiddos, and didn't pay much attention to him. Suddenly, the strong odor of gas filled the room. I quickly stopped everyone and had them leave the lab. The only one left was Cristopher, and he was standing right next to the gas outlet. He had cranked it open full blast, and without it being connected to the Bunsen Burner, it was spewing gas into the classroom.

Well this little psycho was flicking a lighter about two inches from the gas opening!!!! For those of you who know science labs, this is the surest way for the entire building to go up in one big ball of flames. The fire could travel through the pipes to the gas source and cause a gigantic explosion.

I ran towards him and punched the lighter out of his hand. I shut off the gas, and hurried him out of the room. We had to call the principal and janitors, and make sure the school wasn't contaminated with gas. We had diverted a possible anhilation of the student population, but we could not do ANYTHING to the student because of his special ed status. Thank God he dropped out a few weeks later. Otherwise, the little monster may have really hurt someone. I almost ended up dead.

Amazingly, I really should be more scared of these little bastards that I am. One of the gang members in my school was recently busted with three guns. He was special ed too. Maybe that is the problem, or just the excuse. If they are so lazy they refuse to work, classify them special ed so that we can get em out of here. BEFORE THEY KILL SOMEONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You know what? Whoever fucking determines who is "special ed" or normal must have gone through too many sensitivity training seminars. That fucker should be anhiliated himself. I am speaking as a parent. If some big, retarded fuck with no direction endangered my precious child, I would seek retribution to an extreme degree. Then, I would bust my kid outta there so quick it would be one less child my taxes went towards. That is bullshit. It pisses me off so bad I can't stand it.

What the hell is any special needs child doing in a "normal" child's classroom?

Anyone else wondering why Japan is kicking our kids asses in academics?? Here is a prime example. We are so busy making sure everyone feels accepted and we are all equal. Well, I'm sorry. Everyone has a place in society. This kid is a bottom feeder. He should not be allowed the opportunity to rise above that because that is his position. His station in life is to be a bottom feeder. Let him be. Don't feed him with government cheese. Let him demolish his own line and good riddance.

For those of you tree huggers who will jump to conclusions on what I've said, understand this: I am not speaking of your average down syndrome child. Down Syndrome children are generally sweet, innocent and incapable of contemplating harm to others. I'm speaking of the little bastards who can't function in society because they are assholes by nature and an extreme social liablility. There is such a thing as a bad kid and there are too many lazy parents willing to turn a cheek to this bullshit.

To the person who wrote this post:

Why the hell did you pull him out of that classroom? I would have punched the lighter out of his greasy hands, knocked him out and claimed a miscount when someone realized this kid became a casualty of his own demonic plot. (This why I will never be a teacher.)

Libby... I am in total agreement with you.. and you know how often we agree on somthing..ahhmmm... And Teacher... Good job.. Awesome self controle.. . That kid would of been plastered against the wall. I know what you mean about the actual special Ed Kids and the assholes who want an easy road throughout school.. I know.. I was in the Army for 4 years, I have delt with these fucktards throughout my time in... Mad props.. Keep up the good work.. If you need a sub for a few hours to get these kids in line... That behavior is unacceptable, you shouldn't call your students bastards, pieces of crap, or humongus. You may be angry, but still they are not yet mature.

Remember

Now even though that kid was a loser, don't say that all of them are like. Steorotyping isn't going to make them any smarter. They should however make special schools for kids like him. So they can play sports with other mentally challanged kids.

Geese..why?

I have to agree that, that kid is a real stubborned one,but he has nothing to do with the other kids. You shouldnt call all of your students those bad things!!! I dont blame you for bing mad at him,but calm down with language!!!!

Posted by: Melissa
Aug 08, 2005 - 05:34 PM CST

Uh.. whatever There are special schools for shit heads like this kid, its called a Juvenile Detention Center. I don't believe he was referencing this child as special ed, just a bastard.

Any child old enough to be in a class room where there is gas would have to be 12 or older. I don't know about the rest of you, but I knew at that age not to allow gas to seep into a room and potentially kill people.

Posted by: Libby
Sep 01, 2005 - 03:56 PM CST

Melissa, you really need to grow up. I can't bet a years salary that you would be compelled to use the words "shithead" or "fucktard" to describe a student that puts your own child in danger. Hell, your names may even be a little more colorful.

Libby- as always, you are right on the money. I used to work in a juvenile detention center just a few years ago and, more often than not, the ones who were the bad-actors there, just grew up to be even worse. The way I see it is, parents don't want to do their part in terms of discipline and accountability, which, in turn produces all these little disrespectful, violent, psychopathic kids who have no respect for anyone or anything and just wreak havoc on our community. Too bad Melissa won't see the light until one of these little fuckers try to blow up one of her kids with a Bunsen Burner gas outlet and a lighter.

Exactly Dawg. I think the people commenting on this story were way too easy about this student. Kids at that age are well aware of right or wrong. Even if their parents don't teach it, they are old enough to see for themselves.

Gravatar..............So, my brother Sal has been reading my livejournal. He'd been saying that he was going to for a while now, but I didn't actually think that he would until the following conversation took place:

Sal: So, I've been reading up on your livejournal.
Me: No you haven't.
Sal: (Quoting) 'Gee, I hope Sal likes those Lemony Snickets books I got him.'
Me: Goddamnit.

Then, later on that day, he yelled up the staircase, "Jessica, you better come down and eat dinner, or else Mom will think you're on drugs!"

Therefore, I have decided to make my journal friends-only. I hate to do that, but I don't want to feel like I have to censor myself when I'm updating. Besides, it's probably better that way anyway. I don't particularly fancy the idea of random people from my real life reading my journal. I never really got over that weird anonymous comment someone left in my journal five or six months ago:

You are an intelligent, senstive girl. When did you start talking so tough, cursing? When you lost your virginiy? You told me you weren't like that and wanted to wait. Your Dad seems so sweet. Did you get like this from your mother? You should give up the dark side and go to church. Try it,you might like it.

WTF. They didn't even sign their name. I mean, it's not exactly that terrible of a thing to say or anything, but they could have signed their name.

So, yes. Friends-only from this point forward.

Do you ever get the feeling that you just shouldn't answer the phone? Do you ever answer it anyway and then immediately regret it?

My ex-boyfriend Matt just called. >_< If I'd known it was him, I wouldn't have answered, but his name didn't show up on the caller-ID. He said he was watching Lord of the Rings the other day, and it made him think of me. He gave me his cell phone number and said he'd like to hang out sometime. I said ok.

WHY CAN'T I JUST SAY NO?!! WHY CAN'T I EVER JUST FUCKING SAY NO?!!

He told me to call him on Monday or Tuesday this week. And I can't just not call, because I already said that I would. Fuck, he is just about the last person on this earth that I want to talk to. And why the Hell does he want to talk to me? We broke up two years ago, and he never really cared about me anyway. WTF.

Ugh. He's such an arrogant little bastard. When I picked up the phone, he was like, "Hey, it's me," like I'm just supposed to know who "me" is.

Psh.

GravatarOne day Little Johnny's dad returned home from a plane trip just as a very severe thunderstorm hit. As he went into his bedroom about 2 a.m., he found his two children in bed with his wife, apparently scared by the loud storm, so he went to sleep in the guest bedroom. The next day he told the kids that it was okay to sleep with mom during a bad storm, but please don't sleep with her on the night he's expected home. After his next trip several weeks later, his wife and the kids picked him up in the terminal at the scheduled arriving time, but the plane was late and the terminal's waiting area was packed. When Little Johnny's dad entered the waiting area, Little Johnny ran towards him while shouting, "Hi, Dad! I've got some good news!" As he waved back, he said loudly, "What's the good news?" Little Johnny then shouted back so loud that the whole waiting area heard him, "Nobody slept with mommy while you were away this time!"

Little Johnny and his girlfriend were playing golf together when his girlfriend was badly stung by a bee. Little Johnny quickly ran back to the clubhouse, looking for a doctor. "Come quick!" he said. "my girlfriend's been stung by a bee."

"Where was she stung?" asked the doctor. "Between the first and second holes," shouted Little Johnny. "Wow," replied the doctor, "she must have a very wide stance!"

Little Johnny is down at a popular secluded beach, the south end of which permits nude bathing. After much wandering around with wide-eyed wonder, Little Johnny approaches his father and says, "Dad, why do some men have little cocks, and other men have big cocks?" Taken aback, but quick with an answer, the well endowed father replies, "Well son, it's like this. All the men with big cocks are really smart, and all of the men with small cocks are dumb bastards!" Little Johnny nods, and pauses to digest this new information. Dad says, "Where's your mom?" Little Johnny replies, "She's down behind the bushes with some dumb guys, but they're getting smarter by the minute!"

One day a man took the train from Paris to Frankfurt. When he got on he said to the ticket man, "Sir. I really need you to do me a favor- I have to get off this train in Mannheim, but I'm very tired and I know I'll fall asleep. So what I want you to do is wake me up in Mannheim because I have to close a business deal there and it's very important for me. Here's 100 francs for this favor. But I must warn you that sometimes when people wake me up I get violently angry, but no matter what I do or say you got to get me off this train in Mannheim. Is that clear?" So the ticket man agreed and took the 100 francs. Later the man fell asleep, and when he woke up he realized that he was in Frankfurt. He was so mad at the ticket man that he ran over and started yelling at him, "Are you FUCKING STUPID or something??? I paid you 100 francs so that you wake me up in Mannheim. And you didn't!! I want my money back you BASTARD!" While the man was yelling at the ticket guy, Little Johnny and his mom were watching them and Little Johnny says to her, "Boy, that guy is really pissed off!"

"Yeah, almost as mad as the guy they made get off the train in Mannheim!"

A wife invited some people to dinner. At the table she turned to her six-year old son and asked, "Would you like to say grace?"

"I wouldn't know what to say," Little Johnny replied. "Just say what you hear Mommy say," the wife answered. Little Johnny bowed his head and said, "Lord, why on earth did I invite all these people over to dinner!"

Little Johnny asks his Dad, "Why is Santa always so jolly?"

"Because he knows where all the naughty girls live."

Little Johnny and a friend were talking about their parents, "My Dad is with the Police!"

"So is MY Dad - they picked him up this morning!"

"Does your family pray at home?" the religion teacher asked Little Johnny. "Oh yes!" Little Johnny replied. "Every night my mom screams, 'Oh God, don't stop, DON'T STOP !!' "

One day Little Johnny had to use the restroom really, really bad, whipping his prick out as he went in the door. However, in his haste he went into the ladies room by mistake, surprising a woman coming out of a stall. "This is for ladies!" she screams. Little Johnny waves his dick at her and says, "So is this!!"

"Mommy," Little Johnny asked, "do all fairy tales begin with 'Once upon a time'?"

"No, dear," she replied. "Sometimes they start with 'Darling, I'll be working late at the office tonight...' "
