Couric just looks stupid. I mean, Dean had already very publicly said that Democrats had received money from Abramoff, and if she was half a reporter, she'd have known this. If she was half a reporter, she would have understood the issues and at least -- AT LEAST -- been able to come back with the feeble argument that "Well, the Indian tribes he represented gave money to Democrats!" Anyone who knows anything about this scandal, on either side, knows that basic fact. But the fact is, she wasn't even prepared enough, wasn't even informed enough, to perpetuate her own stupid point. All she could do was scowl at Dean and say, "Well, we'll see!"

So I guess what I'm saying is, not only was her argument pathetically weak and flawed, but she didn't even know enough TO MAKE HER ARGUMENT COMPETENTLY. That's just....sad.

I hate it whenever I have a better grasp of right-wing talking points to make their case than the media creatures do. It just makes them look like overpaid morons.

i'm not charging "ploy", but if i were a public relations person, that oprah maneuver would be tempting to replicate.

- first support a patsy
- get him exposed and shown to be liar
- have client rush to his defense to showcase loyalty
- than admit error thus highlighting humility and integrity.

add that all together and it's ratings gold!
