So, are you Liberals ready to get whupped on cloture for Sam Alito?
It'll probsbly be a huge vote for cloture, around 75-25.
The Alito passes with 60 votes.
The fact is that the Democrat Party knows that obstructing a qualified justice like Sam Alito is the wrong thing to do, and they're only going though the motions to satisfy the extreme Socialistic Left.

If any of the following are your Senators, think about taking a minute to thank them for announcing they will support the filibuster. They are being ridiculed and scorned by everybody in the beltway for being dimwitted tools of the angry left or craven political opportunists. It seems to me that if we tell them we like it when they act out of conviction, they'll do it more often. I still think we should get their back on this:
1. Barbara Boxer (D- CA)
2. Dianne Feinstein (D- CA)
3. Christopher J. Dodd (D- CT)
4. Richard J. Durbin (D- IL)
5. John F. Kerry (D- MA)

Suit blasts fungi biz at Fox News
DAILY NEWS STAFF WRITER
There's something noxious at Fox News that's making people sick - and it's not Bill O'Reilly.
Two Fox News employees are suing the cable news channel for allegedly ignoring a toxic stew of mold and pesticides in its Manhattan headquarters.
But Fox News said the charges are bogus, claiming its studios at 1211 Sixth Ave. have a clean bill of health from federal and state regulators.
Veteran employees Laurette DeRosairo and Madronicia Clarke said they became seriously ill after being exposed to mold and pesticides in the basement studios and control rooms starting in 2004. They also claim their bosses used unlicensed workers to spray an insecticide that had been banned for use indoors.
The fumes got so bad last April that it sickened three anchors on the morning newscast "Fox and Friends," and sent a cameraman to the hospital after he fell unconscious, according to court papers filed Thursday in state Supreme Court.
Shows you how old I truly am but I was listening to (and missing) The Chambers Brothers the other day - Love Peace and Happiness album - still has an amazing amount of my favorite music on it: their version of TO LOVE SOMEBODY is great and the title track and HAVE A LITTLE FAITH are just classics

Exxon urges court to reduce $5 billion Valdez award
By DAVID KRAVETS
The Associated Press
Saturday, January 28, 2006 - Page updated at 12:00 a.m
SAN FRANCISCO — ExxonMobil urged a federal appeals court Friday to erase the $5 billion in damages an Alaska jury ordered the oil giant to pay for the 1989 Valdez oil spill.
Exxon attorney Walter Dellinger told a three-judge panel of the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals that the company should be liable for no more than $25 million in punitive damages. Punitive damages are meant to deter and punish misconduct. http://

FEMA Workers Accused of Bribery
Two FEMA disaster assistance employees working in New Orleans were arrested yesterday on federal bribery charges, accused of accepting $10,000 each in exchange for letting a contractor submit inflated reports on the number of meals it was serving at a Hurricane Katrina relief base camp there.
The charges against Andrew Rose and Loyd Hollman, both of Colorado, came after they told a contractor hired on a $1 million deal to provide meals in Algiers, La., that he could submit falsified invoices for extra meals, a Justice Department statement said.
The two were arrested hours after accepting envelopes containing $10,000 apiece. These were supposed to be down payments in what the two had said should be a $2,500 weekly bribe for each, officials said http://www.nytimes.com/2006/01/2...8fema.html?

WASHINGTON: US President George W Bush said on Friday that sanctions against Iran were “certainly a real possibility” if Tehran does not do enough to ease fears that it is trying to develop nuclear weapons.
“A free world cannot allow Iran to have a nuclear weapon; not just the US, but those of us who value freedom,” Bush told CBS television in an interview. “And that is why our strategy is to present and hold together a united front, to say to the Iranians: Your designs to have a nuclear weapon or your desire to have the capability of making a nuclear weapon is unacceptable.”

Saw that once, long ago. The full XXX porno version. Talk about depressing.
I had recently turned 18 and convinced some buds to see it.
First time I ever walked out of a theatre while a movie was playing.
You know what's weird though? It doesn't end with Alito, or even in Novemebr, or in '08. Fascists are in love with "The Cause" as much as any other misguided utopians who think they have "the answer". The faliure to take power just engenders a wait-till-next-time loyalty, like Chicago Cubs fans. This period, now, when they rule everything, this is the moment they have to experience. They need to fail while in power in order to free themselves from the drug.
The withdrawl is often violent, and we liberals are the handy scape-goat because we really do want them to fail in their schemes to eliminate us -- I, mean DUH! But just as the trolls here do their little end-zone dances and bitch about the liberal media not showing the good things (I say show 'em up. Let the FNC reporters go forth into the liberated streets of Iraq and report on the joy! That'll show those filthy lieing libs!)
Anyway--reason will not work on a true believer, momentary defeat just encourages them to believe they 'almost had it'. I'm not, mind you, advocating a let them have it all approach, I'm just saying that they won't let go of this fantasy if it's blocked, only after it fails with them calling all the shots. We see that it has, they just don't want to admit it yet, but that will be coming soon.

Hundreds of Fatah supporters, including Palestinian security officers, forced their way into the parliament compound in Gaza City on Saturday, firing into the air.
"We demand the resignation of the Fatah central committee, the revolutionary council and local (party) leaders," the demonstrators shouted through loudspeakers as they broke down the compound gate in downtown Gaza City.
Saturday saw the second consecutive day of protests in which thousands of Fatah supporters demanded the party leadership resign following the party's crushing electoral defeat to Islamist group Hamas.

Hmmmm CARACAS, Venezuela - U.S. peace activist Cindy Sheehan, whose son was killed in Iraq, said she was considering running for office against Sen. Diane Feinstein while she waited for the California lawmaker to back a filibuster of Supreme Court nominee Samuel Alito.
Sheehan issued her statement Friday, the same day Feinstein announced she would support the filibuster, despite saying earlier this month that she did not see anything to justify one. Democrats fear Alito would shift the court rightward on issues including abortion, affirmative action and the death penalty.
Sheehan's statement was sent by e-mail while she was in Venezuela attending the World Social Forum. She said she had "decided to run" against Feinstein if the lawmaker did not join the filibuster

The Russian government is seeking the closure of one of the country's oldest human rights groups, reports say.
The justice ministry has asked a Moscow court to order that the Russian Human Rights Research Centre be shut down.
The authorities say the move is in response to the NGO's failure to register any information about its activities for the last five years.

All the latest scalito news from FDL:
Just got off a conference call with Ted Kennedy and others, and we got a better idea where the Dems are on all of this. http://firedoglake.blogspot.com/
factless orin hatch:
Democrats ``actually believe that Alito and Roberts will vote to overturn Roe v. Wade'' and ``that a majority of people out there will get incensed by that if they do,'' Utah Republican Orrin Hatch said in an interview.
By an even wider margin, 66% to 25% the same sample does not want to see the Supreme Court overturn its 1973 Roe v. Wade decision on abortion. But this does not sink Alito in many minds, because only 34% believe that as a justice he will vote to overturn Roe v. Wade.
This is key because, asked separately if they now became convinced that Alito WOULD overturn that decision, opinions would dramatically shift: from 54% to 30% in favor of his confirmation to 56% to 34% against. http://
www.editorandpublisher.co...t_id=1001883971
Read what hatch said carefully:
Democrats ``actually believe that Alito and Roberts will vote to overturn Roe v. Wade''
See, those crazy dems think scalito is anti-choice. And even if scalito is anti-choice hatch says:
"most Americans question the morality of abortion"
Gallop poll:
"if they now became convinced that Alito WOULD overturn that decision [roe], opinions would dramatically shift: from 54% to 30% in favor of his confirmation to 56% to 34% against."
Now, either hatch is too dumb to read a poll or he is lying. Take your pick.

A Director. You need one. So that you can give yourself to God, and give yourself fully..., by obedience. A Director who understands your apostolate, who knows what God wants, who can effectively second the work of the holy Spirit in your soul, without taking you from your place, filling you with peace, and teaching you how to make your work fruitful.

A Priest — whoever he may be — is always another Christ.

To love God and not venerate his Priests... is not possible.'

Like the good sons of Noah, throw the mantle of charity over the defects you see in your father, the Priest.

Initiative. You must have it in your apostolate, within the terms of your instructions.
If it exceeds those limits or if you are in doubt, consult whoever is in charge, without telling anyone else of what you are thinking.
Never forget that you are only an agent.

Your obedience is not worthy of the name unless you are ready to abandon your most flourishing personal work, whenever someone with authority so commands
So who will be commanding Scalito?

catalexis: Fascists are in love with "The Cause"
From my experience, what seems to work best with them is, not to debate them, but ask them to expound on their political beliefs, ie. what do you like about Bush, what are his biggest accomplishments, is the country getting better?
This leads to puzzlement on their part & they walk away from such discussions realizing they have to think about things.
My most recent such discussion, when I asked why we're in Iraq, the answer was that we're fighting them over there so we don't have to fight them over here. So I asked - couldn't they just continue to fight us over there & a half dozen of them put together $350 for air faire over here & then buy box cutters for $5?
I come across this guy about every 2 weeks & he always gives me this sheepish grin when he sees me, as if to say - well, you caught on to what a total idiot I am.

About tweety - Nah, I gonna make my pich again: If we made the concerted efforts that we made on the WP's ombudsmen's comments or Kauric lies on Abramoff to go after the WP & CNN we could get them to become more liberal or financially fail.
Why would a concerted effort succeed? Because the Post is dependent on a liberal readership (the DC metropolitan area readers) & CNN, which is flailing, is desperately trying to increase viewers by going right to get FOX's audience.
THAT IS ALL. YOU MAY RETURN TO YOUR REGULAR VIEWING PROGRAM.
