Since the last post was too lengthy to bother with a serious post, I'll put it here.
Giving money to Ned Lamont is all fine and good. But that won't unseat Lieberman in and of itself.
What's needed is on the ground grassroots Dems to make sure the word gets around about the many many times Lieberman has damaged the party, aided the interests of the opposing party, etc. Are there any Connecticut bloggers? Are there many Connecticut Dems online? That's the place to start.
We know of Lieberman's many misdeeds and we can give Lamont money...but we can't get the word out to the actual voters there in Connecticut who aren't savvy to the blogs. Without a strategy to do that, I fear that Lamont may be a non-starter.
That's not to try to discourage support for Lamont, but to encourage folks to think beyond just sending money - because that's what will be needed.

the first preemptive strike in the war on blackberry bushes in my yard ended in something of a stalemate.
i think if worst comes to worst and humans don't make it on this planet, it won't take long after we're gone before the entire face of the earth is covered in blackberries. that is if the morning glories don't kill 'em.

The revelation this week that Boehner rents an apartment in Washington from a lobbyist also has grabbed unwanted headlines, but the majority leader said he thinks "the whole story is silly."
"I think I pay more than market price for a basement apartment," he said. "Why can't I rent an apartment from someone who happens to be a lobbyist?"
(It's silly. Why can't I have sex with a woman who happens to be my sister?)

I ran a periodic sweep of my hard drives last night looking for crap (not much thankfully) with Ad-Aware and Spybot and *still* missed a little bastard program hiding in my Windows registry trying to connect to the internet every couple hours. Hi,
After reviewing the NSA matter, it seems clear what "should be" done: The States need to compel the Federal government to recalibrate:
The process is simple: The States need to agree that this Congress has failed; and that State direction and assistance is needed.
Calibration merely compels the Federal Government to go back to their respective powers and duties. No longer can the Federal government rubber stamp wars, or fail to assert their oaths.
The time for the States to debate this issue is at hand. The Federal Government has failed to protect the Constitution, and we no longer have a credible system of checks and balances.
There is a way forward. It is a simple plan. All that is needed is for you to consider the possibilities: That your Constitution can be preserved, and Congress can be forced to do what it has taken an oath to do.
Please consider the information in the spirit it is written: To provide a rough guide of what could be a solution to this current self-evident failure of checks and balances over the NSA domestic spying issue. The approach is simple, and that is why Congress and your friends should simply admit: This is possible and it is an option.
Best wishes and thank you for considering these views.
