GravatarWanking can be done in the privacy of solitude.
Why must these wankers drag other people into it?

'Cause that's how they get to be wankers deluxe?

GravatarJust kinda checking in.

My kid's on the ski trip from hell. They're near Winter Park. Didn't get to their condo until 6:00 AM yesterday ~ they were supposed to have been there by midnight Friday.

And then at 4:00 this morning Colorado time, my 21 year old nephew has a seizure of undetermined origing. He's taken by ambulance to Granby Medical Center, where they can't figure out what's wrong, so they're sending him to Denver for a CAT scan.

In the meantime, my kid is stuck in the condo with 5 of her cousins, ranging in age from 2 - 19...and all they want to do is go skiing.

Apparently, they'll get to do that at some point today, after which they're leaving the condo and heading to Denver for the night to pick up said nephew.

I just hope the rest of the trip goes without further incident.

It's such a damned shame...my sister has spent a boatload of money trying to show these kids a good time...

GravatarHi Tena,

Imagine, Atrios is all of 34 today. I predict great things for our host. He's already given Congressional testimony and is a major mover and shaker. The blogs have traditional media in a fine dither.

GravatarHey, when Scout goes to New Orleans, a group of congressional delegates will be there, including Pelosi.

She's going to try to get an interview.

GravatarThe beauty of this whole thing is that the primary is in just a few weeks. If that picture with Bush costs Wanker his seat, it frames this whole election cycle as "Bush: Electoral Poison?"

Months and months of those stories.

GravatarIt's such a damned shame...my sister has spent a boatload of money trying to show these kids a good time...

I'm sorry Vicki -- sometimes that damned Murphy's Law kicks in, and it's damed impossble to shake.

Gravatar.No evil deed live oN.

Gravatarql - Hi.

Yah, I agree, Atrios is headed for great things. Along with Athenae and any number of other bloggers.

I'll just sit here and watch.

Gravatarnewton gets it. if rodriguez wins it'll really help set the narrative for the next couple of months, both for democrats and for the netroots generally

GravatarSo, is Atrios an Aquarian or a Pisces?

GravatarWhy, it's Shroedinger's Store.

Vicki

Sounds like fun to me.

When I talked to my sister about an hour ago, she told me that this was the first time she bought trip insurance (she travels all over the place)...just had a feeling.

So their change of venue, etc., is all covered, and their airline tickets back home are covered, as well, since it's an emergency...

But thanks for the sentiment.

I just wonder if the trip insurance covers my nephew's medical expenses. 21, on his own, not in college, and of course, he doesn't have coverage. His mom's a nurse practitioner, so she agreed, of course, that he be assessed in Denver...but still.

GravatarBeing a major blogger means having to be witty at all times; as one ages, that can become very difficult.

Gravatarit frames this whole election cycle as "Bush: Electoral Poison?"

Well, it's better than hunting with number two...

GravatarI think Rodriguez will win, unless, of course, the electoral process is rigged. That's what I fear the most.

Gravatar'Cause that's how they get to be wankers deluxe?
Tena

What is the deluxe model, dear heart? Two hands on the pole?

I am still impressed by your thoughts on life after death last night...

GravatarBeing a major blogger means having to be witty at all times

Since when? Being a blogger means recording your internettings. Being a political blogger means catches news that manages to escape the media. There is no consistent store of wit for its own sake at the invaluable Cursor and it's the best site out there.

Gravatar"Bush: Universal Poison?"

Why, YES, yes he is.

GravatarH B-day, A-man.

So true, so true!

GravatarImagine, Atrios is all of 34 today. I predict great things for our host. He's already given Congressional testimony and is a major mover and shaker. The blogs have traditional media in a fine dither.

Our boy is one smart mothereffer, especially for a 34 year old.

Gravatarkei & yuri -

i'm not up for quibbling much today. You guys have your opinions--I'll have mine, thanks.

GravatarNO FRUIT

GravatarDoes anyone want to dissect my position wrt Wapo's use of the word "directed?"
.

Gravatarman, this guy is just begging to be beaten....wonder how much $ he's gonna get from the rnc?

GravatarHoly Shit!

It's 3 degrees here.

No wonder my scales fell off.

GravatarVicki, I hope the medical issue is resolved quickly. Seizures can be pretty scary.

Gravatarbilly b: Our boy is one smart mothereffer, especially for a 34 year old.

Next year, Atrios will be an Oscar contender.

GravatarOTDR: Whose birthday did you guys say it was?

Feb 18 1933
Yoko Ono born.

Thanks.

Anyone here on DSL? I called Earthlink the other day and signed on for their DSL service. I got the package yesterday.

I haven't switched over yet, and I know it may not be as fast. However, if Earthlink can keep me online, I don't mind the slower connection.

GravatarHow do you explain Instapundit? Or Charles Johnson? Or ClownHall? Or the Corner? Or....

Easy. That's SHITTY , not WITTY.
(I must be presuming LIBERAL blogs)

GravatarNext year, Atrios will be an Oscar contender.

And he can become president.

GravatarHe's Dale Earnhardt, not John Fitzgerald Kennedy for fuck's sake.

Feb 18 2001

During the Daytona 500, NASCAR phenom Dale Earnhardt crashes into the wall and dies instantly. His widow later files a lawsuit to keep his autopsy photos sealed, and Florida subsequently passes a law to prevent them from ever being released.

GravatarI think I was pretty smart too when I was 34, but I'm not sure. I have trouble remembering.

Gravatarwhiskeyina,

He had one when he was 2 years old. 19 years later, 8500 feet above sea level, he has another one...

It is scary. Apparently, his brother heard him flailing around and woke my sister up, who called 911. He bit through his tongue, and there was blood all over the place...

I'm close to my family, so I'm just kind of freaked out.

GravatarTena, I just signed up with Comcast. I know you've had problems with them. I notice that the e-mail server isn't the greatest...but the rest of it beats dial-up all to hell.

GravatarHow do you explain Instapundit? Or Charles Johnson? Or ClownHall? Or the Corner?

Thta's a good point. They are incapable of research in part because they habitually place their eggs in the basket of "analysis" instead of the "research" which should inform any wit. It is theoretically possible that they wouldn't be so stupid if they changed their priorities.

GravatarVicki - well don't worry too much when there isn't much you can do about it right now. I'm sure sorry - it has to be scary. I'm glad your nephew wasn't skiing or in a lift when it happened.

GravatarAnyone here on DSL?

Yup. Verizon, since by a quirk of geography, I also have them as local provider and long-distance for simplicity's (and cost's ) sake. Very reliable and fast for copper-wire DSL. Nearly 100% reliability.

Gravatarspinoza: And he can become president.

I hear he'd rather become the commissioner of MLB.
.

GravatarI'm 68. I might not be as smart as Atrios, but I'm twice as old. So there.

GravatarReaders of these threads may be gratified to know that at least two stories (Heimatschutzemacht looking for porn in a library and goatless tiger poo) appeared here first and are showing up at Daily Rotten a day later.

GravatarVicki - most people have better luck with Comcast than I've had. There may actually be some kind of problem in my area - but it's been going on since I signed up - 2 years ago now.

Comcast apparently cannot figure out what the problem is here and I'm tired of fucking with it.

Earthlink just came in with DSL service here and I got good results when I used them on dial up.

So I decided to give them a shot.

Gravatarplantsman - thanks for that. I imagine Earthlink is just about as fast.

I'll have to set it up and start using it.

GravatarOn the take owls.

GravatarAnyone here on DSL?

qwest, the local phone monopoly, supplies mine...i think it may be the ONLY dsl i can get...

GravatarHere's something that brings a new meaning to 'boner':

GravatarBy the way, I'm sure you all missed this, but there was a hilarious post praising wanker Cohen for his "math don't matter" piece over at that nutball scrutator blog the other day. Among the funniest bits: after excerpting the Cohen argument that math just ain't that important because a computer or calculator can do it but to write you need a human being...the author of the post adds this: I would add there's one other thing a computer doesn't have: faith. No amount of number crunching can ever substitute for that.

The mind wobbles.

GravatarI had Comcast back when it was the Old AT&T, and it was blazing fast when it worked -- it just didn't work muck. Had EarthLink dialup at work and home in the dim misty past of the internets --
good service, lotta spam early on.

Gravatar...And EarthLink does have those "airy-fairy" commercials, which are kinda cute.

GravatarVicki, I'm so sorry. One of my closest friends has a seizure disorder. She travels with me and the girls to California each summer to visit my folks. Two summers ago, she had a seizure in the airport when we were coming home. It was pretty awful. Actually, she has had her two biggest ones in recent years after air travel. Her doctors said that there is sometimes a connection. Did your cousin fly to Colorado? Or even the change in altitude could be the culprit. It always so scary when no one can figure out the problem.

My thoughts are with you and your family.

Gravatarspinoza-non ridere, non lugare: Eew. Geez, where do you look to find stuff like that? When did the Clark Kent camera become available?....

GravatarHere's a link to a blog ad you can use on your site to help drive contributions to Ciro's campaign.
