Republicans met in both states to resolve how to divvy up delegates to the national convention in September.
Thirty-two of Louisiana's 47 delegates told The Associated Press they intend to vote for McCain, and three others also are expected to back him.
Likewise, a majority of Michigan's presidential delegates also say they'll back the Arizona senator now that primary winner Mitt Romney is out of the race, although it's still unclear how many will go to the national convention.

I'm off to the mid-west tomorrow. My dad had a second stroke after his triple by-pass. He isn't responsive now and they have him on a ventilator.
I'm trying to remain optimistic, but my family want me there so I can say, "goodbye".
I'm glad my last conversation with him was good and my last foray into the mid-west was actually positive.
You know one thing about the world that was created on the methods of Karl Rove and Rush Limbaugh and Lee Attwater that especially galls me?

During a time when we could have been more united, they hammered on dividing.

The thing is we look at these incidents as singular in their nature. It is treated as a complete class of event to itself.
I see it as as series of influences that can depart in different directions. Unfortunately, this sort of incident is becoming an easy choice having several highly visible past events for the individual to fixate on.
I find myself more interested on what made these people. What is different from forty years back? Is it simply isolation as an individual, mental health issues, stress or even peer pressure? This last incident holds the issue of a failure of the gunman to take his meds. Why is he taking medication? What created the condition that requires it? Why do we hear and see more people with these issues?

Heh. Actually, I have studied it. And I namestole that putz Lubyanka. There are many reasons for these behaviors and the prevalence of high powered weaponry with high magazine capacity isn't necessarily the reason, although the availability of such things is a factor in that they have become the weapon of choice. In the 20's and 30's, Thompsons were relatively cheap and available and we didn't have this problem then. OTOH, if you read through old newspaper stories on microfiche from the turn of the century, you'll find all kinds of murder and mayhem committed by some very young perpetrators back then. There are no simple answers. If there was one, the statistical blip of the baby boomers would suffice for the events in the recent past. I think ElC gets it right about today.

Ruth - the boat is about 160 miles N of me in Baldwin, MI. I just see no reason to bring it down here, then make 2 trips there & back to get it, and the 5th wheel back up to where I use it.

Some people do Doug, it's very low fat with a distinct tang some people enjoy. When I ate biscuits, I had the same trouble you do. And because it's low fat, it doesn't keep very well.

Hate to say it, but those Pillsbury Frozen buttermilk biscuits in a bag are very close to the real thing. The longer you store them in the freezer, the less wonderful they become -- but if you use them within a couple weeks after opening, they're great!
Barndog to cut up the butter for the biscuits, I use the same shortcut as for pie crust, run the butter through a coarse grater. It works well enough, and makes the biscuit creation much faster.

When I was first diagnosed diabetic, twice I ran out in frustration and got a Big Mac to "cheat". Then I realized you can't really cheat diabetes, and stopped trying so hard.
this is completely off topic, but I found the neatest puzzle making game for the computer. I like jigsaw puzzles, but have no place to put one together. Egames has something called puzzlemaster,(it's in some of those discs you see at Best Buy with 10,000 games and stuff) but it is really neat, and you can download any picture you want and make a puzzle out of it.
Just thought I would share for any who are still toughing out the winter.

That is true. My former boss has diabetes and she is very careful about what she eats, but seems to find a lot of different foods and substitutions for her favorites. There seems to be more and more products geared towards people with that problem. I guess it is because there are so many people who have it. I have a theory that it is because we all eat so much processed food. Just a theory. "I am sure that with a government grant, I could make it a lot more silly.'
