REally, it's Santorum who has nothing to live for.
The attacks on Rick Santorum are only because there is a co-ordinated smear effort coming from the Soros-funded fifth column media bias conglomerate. He is very popular with the people of Pennsylvania, and you hate that. Too bad, morals values will always win over immoral.

What is killing us is a foreign Religion pushed on us in a modified form since 1967 and furthermore in a less deadly form since Roman times. And the culprit of this madness is the non-national enemy faught by Germany during WWII.
They are not victims of anything, they run our nations and dispense of rules and rights as they please.

Sorry, but why is disparaging Belgium funny? Sounds a little wing-nutty to me.
So, to set the record straight...
"Belgium has possibly the highest "quality of life" in the world, as testified by its excellent food, housing, health care, education and infrastructure, its world records for high productivity and low poverty, and the appreciation of foreigners residing in Belgium." ... from Principia Cybernetica Web.
In fact, most travellers will tell you that the Belgians (and the Dutch) are the friendliest people in Europe. Belgium has welcomed refugees throughout its history. Both the Belgians and the Dutch also have a reverence for nature. They have been leaders in Europe in establishing secular governments. They were also leaders in establishing workers 'guilds', the fore-runners of unions (their guild halls are breathtaking). And they have fought bravely even though their peoples abhor war.
Not to mention their incredibly beautiful scenery...

Belgians are damn happy -- to start with a Rick Santorum could never be elected here. Add to that an excellent universal health-care system, great food, kick-ass schools, five weeks of vacation, no poverty, and lots of topless women on the beaches in summer.
Yeah, people are happy here.

The static to falling native populations of Europe do in fact present a very important set of questions both historical and philosophical. Modernism and secularism almost certainly are the driving factor. I should note that modernism and secularism are two sides of the same coin.
Fundamentalists of all stripes are at war with modernism, and thus secularism.
As we all know the right hates Western Europeans for a variety of reasons which might be summarized by the idea that they are whites gone bad. Nothing elicits the hate of true believers more than the presence of apostates among the chosen group.
This meme of dying white Europe has threads which touch most of the issues which fundamentalists obsess. Rick didn't mention that white American population growth is barely positive which in turns brings us around to the influx of brown people to America. The demographics are not in dispute. By mid centruy whites will be a minority here. That is probably the single most important thing you must know when understanding every single political cause and policy supported by conservatives. Not only social conservatives but the economic ones as well.
White people, by definition among conservatives, the Chosen people, are dying out. Against that nothing is too extreme.

I know you were joking about the Belgians, but I've visited a number of times, stayed with a Belgian friend, and they have the best beer in the world, some of the best food, great state-provided combined child care/preschool so my friend and his wife can both have demanding careers despite having three young kids. And nearly everyone is trilingual at least (as my friend says, Belgians have to be able to say "please don't shoot me" in the languages of all the countries that might invade them).

rapier I doubt your conclusions because conservatives already have a different chosen people and they ain't "whites".
Conservatives just want to make sure there are a enough jewdupes around for protection and pre-emptive strikes against the "anti-semites".
Nothing about the Christian religion is "white" these days; it originated with jews, sure, it spent a large deal entwined with Europe, but now has shifted back to "god's chosen people", and is only used to their ends. It is best to let it fall over a BIOLOGICAL issue that Europeankind are dying.
Fundies are after more troops to fight for Israel, nothing more. And you are right, America is in the same camp of pathetic birth rates as Europe. Conservatives are religious nuts first, Animals in a darwinistic warzone last.

According to Paul Fussell in _Class_, Belgium is the most middle-class place in the entire world.
The Belgians also have the dubious distinction of being by far the cruelest of the African colonialists. I suspect that those Belgian peacekeepers who were turned into diced pineapple meat in Rwanda might have lived had they been from any other country. Instead, they paid the ultimate price for being from the land of King Leopold.

I don't have a president that has been caught out lying about something as serious as war and gets away with it. I have a good quality of life and don't think my country is going into bankruptcy which I would do if I were an US citizen. I quite like my life in actual fact and feel that I've plenty to live for not least the hope that I will live to see G Bush and his cohorts and partners in crime against humanity and crime against US citizens being brought to justice. Well we can all live in hope I guess!

Any time we find that "what is worth living for" is defined by America's premier asshat, assclown, frothy mixture of lube and feces and most likely U.S. Senator to traumatize his children with a dead baby, then I, and, I trust, billions of other people on this planet will of course choose precisely the opposite.
Fuckhead Santorum is another of many individuals who if they were to tell me the sun rises in the East would find me up the next morning to see if in fact it did.

The goal, as I remember it being at one time, was to learn to live together and now the goal has become to compete and remove anything or one that seems to disagree with an unbridled push to use other peoples for your advancement. .... isnt that something, we'd struggle to offer our very lousiest into heaven. Free trade agreements, one party domination, Silverado Savings and Loan, looting of K-mart corp., only mean one thing for the citizens of this country .... you can forget about security of any type. Health, human services, retirement, cover from the "bad guys" or even natural disasters. The Bush administration and the neo-convicts say all those are now a marketable commodity. "We'll sell ya some if you can meet the price",(wanna buy some wood?) seems to be what they're saying in addition to shaming and thwarting our attempts to work toward systems that do ensure our security as citizens of america's neighborhoods, and our longevity as a "human" species. Santorum seems to be saying that europe is dying and unless we want to too, we'd better get to his church and begin working for his re-election.

I don't know, most of them seem quite happy to me, except maybe the Belgians (joke).
Anthony Powell's memoirs of WWII, Faces in my Time, says, of the Belgian military attache in London, that "(Major Kronacker) told me that, when woken in a wagon-lit by the sound of a fearsome row going on on the next compartment, he knew he was back in his beloved country."
The Belgians are depicted as being quite quarrelsome due to the division between Flemings and Walloons (Powell refers to "inciting antagonisms" as "at best a chronic Belgian problem." Later on 30,000 Belgian troops/resistance fighters had to be transferred to Britain for military training to prevent Field-Marshall Montgomery from "shooting them up" if they made trouble, as he threatened he would do to Kronacker (due to the young men living for 4 and a half years under the Nazis without seeing much action if any).
Powell also tells a joke that three men, a Belgian, a Frenchman, and an Englishman, watch a woman ride by on a horse. The Frenchman says "What a beautiful woman." The Englishman says "What a beautiful horse." The Belgian says "I wonder what she was nee".
Does any of this still ring true?
(Sorry, I don't know how to accent the final e, Frenchwise. And Lindeman's Kriek - first beer I ever enjoyed.)
