I'MMA LET YOU FINISH

Gravatar1st

GravatarShit, I even stopped to read.

Hillary's only the most popular because of name recognition. Or maybe name association.

GravatarOkay, greed time. I'd like a triple.

GravatarHome, do I get a homer?

GravatarWow, ql owns the thread!

GravatarAlright, now it's getting lonely.

GravatarHow did you do it? I never can get more than first anymore, ql, because someone else shows up and that 20 second rule kills me every time.

Congratulations!

GravatarDamn you ql!

Gravatartena, come sit with me. I have some champagne on ice and cigarettes and ashtrays. We'll have a blast.

GravatarI'll go tell them about the owls.

GravatarWell the previous thread was MINE at least

Gravatarwow...that's a much better response to the spying question...i expect the media to be trumpeting it all weekend...

Gravatar41% say necessary tool, 53% say goes too far.

Who's gonna tell Matt Cooper?

GravatarHi folks

GravatarSometimes when Atrios posts two minutes apart, homers happen. Way to go, ql!

Gravatar41% say necessary tool

I'd say he's quite the tool.

Was gonna comment earlier but didn't want to interupt ql's streak.

GravatarWhat’s the word on Jason Leopold / truthout.org: story about K Rover telling the WH that he is going to be indicted? Is anyone else verifying it?

GravatarHowsabout we now ask "Do you want the government keeping a log of every call you make, every day, 24/7. Even if you aren't home and someone else is using the phone. Like your teenaged son?"

Gravatar4% say better.

What the hell???

GravatarMost importantly:

14. Now on another subject… As you may know, there are reports that the NSA, a government intelligence agency, has been collecting the phone call records of Americans. The agency doesn't actually listen to the calls but logs in nearly every phone number to create a database of calls made within the United States. Which of the following comes CLOSER to your own view of this domestic surveillance program…(READ)

41% say necessary tool, 53% say goes too far.

that sounds about right - and I think that the 41% will go down - after the public at large starts to understand just what exactly this NSA spying means to our privacy. It's unconstitutional!!!!!!!!!!!

Gravatar52% is not good enough. They can't cheat if it's close enough, and no wishy washy Rahm Emmanuel cowardice is going to get past an advantage of few points if that.

GravatarBush - Fucked more than one way!

Gravatarql- just come to EschaConII - you know there is going to be a smokers' corner somewhere decent cause I'm one of the people organizing the thing.

GravatarImagine that.

People are slowly waking up, the old media's shilling notwithstanding.

Gravatar4% say better.

What the hell???
TNLib

That 4% is from Bush extended family

Gravatarthat sounds about right - and I think that the 41% will go down - after the public at large starts to understand just what exactly this NSA spying means to our privacy. It's unconstitutional!!!!!!!!!!!
portia

Yup. Still a lot of Jeffersonian democracy left in the culture.

GravatarI'm telling you things are getting better.

Go to any wingnut blog. All they can talk about is the Duke rape and immigration...LOL! Only with great pains are the forced to confront the ineptness of Dear Leader.

They made a huge mistake thinking they could whip up anger over immigration to deflect attention on Iraq/Katrina/Corruption.

Gravatarthat sounds about right - and I think that the 41% will go down - after the public at large starts to understand just what exactly this NSA spying means to our privacy. It's unconstitutional!!!!!!!!!!!
portia

I agree.

He's ugly and stupid and he stinks and nobody likes him. George Bush is the ultimate troll.

Gravatar48% say their opinion of Bush has gotten worse since the 2004 election. 4% say better.

Just who are these 4 percenters?!?!?!?!

Born Again Bigots????

WooooooHoooooooo!!

Nice homer QL
.

GravatarThe person posting as Speedy last night was stinking drunk with rage and gin and Billy Graham. Please accept his apologies for anything inappropriate he might have said.

Thank you.

And peace.

GravatarThere is something radically wrong with anyone who still gives him any kind of favorable rating.

What is wrong with those people?

Are they insane?

GravatarHillary's only the most popular because of name recognition. Or maybe name association.

I have to say I admire her. She's been the right's favorite whipping post for the better part of a decade. Not a day goes by that some wingnut isn't foaming at the mouth about her on FOX news or talk radio. They're truly pathological about their Hillary-hatred - it's relentless.

And still, the fuckers can't tear her down.

GravatarJust posted at the NYTimes:

Cheney Pushed U.S. to Widen Eavesdropping

By SCOTT SHANE
Published: May 14, 2006
WASHINGTON, May 12 — In the weeks after the Sept. 11 attacks, Vice President Dick Cheney and his top legal adviser argued that the National Security Agency should intercept purely domestic telephone calls and e-mail messages without warrants in the hunt for terrorists, according to two senior intelligence officials.

Threats & Responses
Go to Complete Coverage » But N.S.A. lawyers, trained in the agency's strict rules against domestic spying and reluctant to approve any warrantless eavesdropping, insisted that it should be limited to communications into and out of the country, said the officials, who were granted anonymity to discuss the debate inside the Bush administration late in 2001.

The N.S.A.'s position ultimately prevailed. Details have not emerged publicly of how the director of the agency at the time, Gen. Michael V. Hayden, designed the program, persuaded wary N.S.A. officers to accept it and sold the White House on its limits.

Whatever the internal deliberations, General Hayden was the program's overseer and has become its chief salesman. He is certain to face questions about his role when he appears at a Senate hearing next week on his nomination as director of the Central Intelligence Agency. Criticism of the surveillance program flared again this week with the disclosure that N.S.A. had collected the phone records of millions of Americans in an effort to track terror suspects.

GravatarGore is polling pretty well.

Must be a lot of regret about the year 2000.

Gravatar4% are just fuckin' with y'all, either that or they called an uber-rich overlord.

Gravatara humble blogwore - "Give me liberty or give me death." - Patrick Henry heh

Gravatar15. In light of this news and other executive actions by the Bush-Cheney administration, in general, do you think they have gone too far in expanding presidential power, or not?

52% Yes, gone too far, 38% No have not

10% Why the fuck did Chris get voted off American Idol?!

Quite alright.

GravatarThank you.

Speedy

I left early, but you were just fun when I was around.

Like you always are.

GravatarThis is a relief after that miserable ABC News poll that was seemed to be taken as a deliberate attempt to give the Bush Administration as massage with "release"

BTW, you have to see this nugget from Larry King Last night where Randi Rhodes exposed a freeper talk show host

Well you don't HAVE to, but it is both funny and sad at the same time.

GravatarThere is something radically wrong with anyone who still gives him any kind of favorable rating.

I think they are the same folks who think we can trash the environment and run up a deficit because the Rapture is due to happen any day so the future doesn't matter.

Gravatarthe wingnuts seem more obessed over Hillary than the left you know.

they seem to really want her to be President in some twisted way.

they are truly creatures from a different planet

GravatarThank you Terry C. and Tena. I really want to be a good boy.

GravatarHillary's only the most popular because of name recognition. Or maybe name association.

Yeah. And Kerry, Gore, and Edwards share favorablity at 49%, but look at Edwards' unfavorability. Huh? Not in the limelight enough?

Very stupid

Very rich.

Or both!

You gotta problem with everyone being considered a terrorist until proven otherwise?

why do you hate america?

GravatarHmm? Edwards 49% favorable, 24% unfavorable.

Boy, he's looking good for a Breck Girl -- and all that Habitat for Humanity work, too.

GravatarI loved this:

50%/31% say they want a Dem/Repub to be the next pres.

Yet Tweety will continue to bash the dems - and speculate on McCain Guiliani, etc. - HE'S OUT OF TOUCH!!!

Also - since the dems will win in '08 let's put up someone who can do the most good for the country - a real liberal - IOW - no more "liberal hawks" - no more DINOs and absolutely no more nice nice to the right wing of the Republican party! (they're extremists!!!)

GravatarWhat’s the word on Jason Leopold / truthout.org: story about K Rover telling the WH that he is going to be indicted? Is anyone else verifying it?

Is anyone denying it?

GravatarI think we shoulf FORCE Atrios to post one of his cats when the polls get under 30% cause we sure don't get them on fridays anymore...

Moonbootica, Buffy Geek

I suspect that is why Murcock is donating to her campaign.

Can you say "Nader '04"?

"Be careful what you wish for.

Gravatarowls.

GravatarMelody must be a cat from another star.

Gravatar52% of those polled want Dems to take Congress, including 47% of independents (35/30 respectively want Repubs to keep controly).

Ya, that number may be right, but we all know it's a matter of "my corrupt asshole is WAY better then your corrupt asshole".

I do so hope I'm wrong, but.....

GravatarWell, at least gasoline is extremely cheap!

In Venezuela, at least:

Taxi driver Jaime Tinoco works the streets of Caracas in a 1976 Chevy Nova that guzzles 72 litres of gas a day. But he doesn't worry about fuel efficiency - filling his tank costs just US$2.30 (NZ$3.65).

While US consumers struggle with soaring energy prices, Venezuela's gas is now the world's cheapest at 12 cents a gallon (3.7 litres) and Washington's regional foe, President Hugo Chavez, vows to maintain subsidies that keep fuel dirt-cheap.
"Those gringos have everything - so why does their gas cost so much?" asked Tinoco between chuckles as he navigated a midday traffic jam. "Don't they have oil reserves?"

Chavez, a self-proclaimed socialist and critic of President Bush, has even begun subsidising fuel for poor US neighbourhoods.

Gravatar38% No have not

So when are these people going to wake up? Anytime before they're turned into soylent green?

No way!

kei & yuri

Yeah, well maybe we should still mass email Mr. Emmanuel with the poll results. Maybe then he'll quit with the oatmeal approach to this election and begin realizing that the nation is hungry for some real red meat, the kind that fills folks up with rage at what the current yahoos have done to this nation.

GravatarHey, what the fuck? Atrios is running ads (probably through a system that doesn't allow for choice) for the destruction of the internet.

They had an agenda and he was an enabler.

About the same as always. And still with that air of smugness and repeated lame attempts at humor.

GravatarAtrios is running ads (probably through a system that doesn't allow for choice) for the destruction of the internet.

If he didn't they would let him fly airplanes.

But Atrios is just dealing with reality like the rest of us.

Like Billmon sez:

...The millions of Americans, like yours truly, who work in the corporate or public sector white collar world have already grown accustomed to a loss of personal privacy and a degree of social control that make Pentagon data mining look like an ACLU fundraising dinner.

We know our phone calls and emails may be and often are monitored, that company net nannies will stop us from visiting certain web sites (and not just porn pages: I’ve been blocked out of labor union sites, progressive political sites – even that notorious left-wing web magazine, Slate.) We know that if we say the wrong thing to a company snitch it could be reported to our supervisors, that those reports could end up in our personnel files, and that really serious thought crimes could cost us our jobs. We know the security cameras may record when we walk in the door and when we leave. We know we can’t make certain jokes or raise certain topics because they might be construed as sexual harassment. We know how to smile and feign enthusiasm when the pointy-haired boss has a really dumb idea. We know what a cult of personality looks like, because it looks like our CEO.

Ya gotta eat. But you don't have to drink the Kool-Aid. If Atrios could block those ads, he would I betcha.

Guys, I left early last night because I couldn't take another minute of Toby The Fascist Fuck and that moron he brought with him, "I'm a Nazi and Proud of It" Joe.

They were just too, too boring.

Toby is pathetic!

GravatarWhere else is there such a concentration of cat-loving liberals with sharp minds and sharp tongues?

Hey, I prefer dogs. But I'm not exactly a regular, either.
kelley b.

I got doggies AND kitties, 2 of each.

And you are more than welcome to become a regular here, Kelley!

GravatarOH damn, I just got some really bad news.

I was saying below that Mr. Tena's cousin who is a couple of years older than he is, and just one of the most wonderful people ever, fell down the stairs in his house two nights ago. He's not going to make it. They thought he might, but the brain damage is too extensive.

A wonderful liberal man who walked the walk. I feel so terrible for the family.

sorry to inject a bit of gloom.

GravatarI thought kelley b was more or less a regular.

You've been around for ages, kelley b.

GravatarA couple thousand people got fabulously wealthy during the Bush years . . . but it also appears that Bush has wreaked significant damage upon the Republican party (who coulda seen THAT coming?)

I wonder if the Repukes think it was worth it.

Gravatar[blushes] Thanks, Terry C. It's nice digs with nice people. And interesting cats.

I try not to break the furniture or shoot anyone in the face!

GravatarI am glad Newsweek published this poll today. This will stop Sunday hacks from quoting that wapo poll exclusively. They have to quote this poll also, which will cancel the other one.

GravatarBush's Approval rating is down to 29% now, its good to see America has finally awoken, I mean really, how much utter incompetence was this country going to take? You can't fool EVERYONE for 5 years and counting.

http://goofyblog.net/der-fuhrers...inally-wake-up/

My guess is we'll see him in the Upper Teens by November, then America will finally kick the lying, incompetent, corrupt Republican Spend-Thrifts out of Congress once and for all.

GravatarGREAT NEWS! THE REPUBLICANS ARE GOIN' DOW-

Hey...are the elections still fixed?

Sigh...never mind.

GravatarDear Richard Morin: fuck you.

GravatarDamn, I'm even more popular than your preznit...And that is really saying something...

--

GravatarBush does not care about his poll numbers. There is still a lot of the treasury to be pilfered and distributed among his friends and allies(his base). The three reamining years of his administration offers ample time and opportunity to steal us blind so that when he and Cheney retire the his friends and allies(his base) will make certain that the despotic duo are well taken care of for the rest of their lives with much left as a bequest to their progeny. Let the good times roll.

GravatarThose last two results are important. That Washington Post poll showing 63% approval of the NSA data mining was badly flawed, because it was done too soon, the very day that the story was breaking. Unfortunately, because it was done so soon it came out almost immediately and (aided by the Post's running it high and flogging it mercilessly), it got huge coverage. Now that people have had a chance to read the paper and find out what data mining program is, it turns out that most people actually do NOT approve of it.

GravatarConsidering that public policy has been dominated for 10-plus years by radical right-wingers, including religious psychotics, I don't find these survey results at all encouraging. Why the fuck should 41% of Americans approve of a blanket violation of the Fourth Amendment by the Exec Branch? How the fuck do 40% figure that presidential power hasn't expanded too far when all we've been hearing from the right since Brown vs Board is that Big Government Is Too Intrusive? None of these numbers mean anything until Republicans and Democratic sympathizers are permanently removed as the majority voting bloc in Congress.

GravatarWhere is the Friday kitty?

Gravatarnow all we need is to be able to vote

GravatarDiebold, ES&S, Sequoia..........

If the GOP retains control of both houses will the folks then call for a real fucking election with paper ballots counted by hand in each precinct with neutral oversight?

Can we have our own orange revolution?

Gravatarbuzzflash has a great editorial about this that echoed my reflections on it exactly.

I thought, "Isn't it suspicious that the WaPost, on the very night the news came out, rushed a rigged poll that used faulty methodology, and then trumpeted the resultsof that poll to the people THE VERY NEXT DAY?"

Then I realized that the "people" for whom the poll results were meant were the beltway Dems, in an attempt to convince them that it would be politically risky to bring attention to this issue. They were propagandizing the D.C. elites that might raise a stink about this.

Fucking WaPost.

What a fucking corrupt organization full of lying and dishonest sacks of shit.

GravatarOnce, just fricking once, I'd like NOT to see Hillary's name on the democratic hopeful's list.

She's going to ruin it for the dems.

^^^ HELP IMPEACH TODAY

Keep the pressure on Congress... Talking about impeachment wakes people up... They question, it's a strong motivator to get people thinking. It also lets Congress know how intense the dissapproval is for this President... They seem to be a little slow on the uptake. So please:

1) Sign petitions if you have not done so
2) Send a letter to Congress (both Senators & House rep)
3) Send a copy to the media
4) Enlist friends and family to help, ask them to chip in time
5) Spread the link around, email it (with a request to forward) post it on a blog, or in the comments of a news story.

Help out!!!

Thanks

GravatarProves that 4% of the country are fascists or nazi's.

Gravatar4% say better.

Unsurprisingly, that's the same percentage of Americans who are clinically insane.

Gravatar2 cents worth: Whoever assembled these numbers, thanks for the numerical validation of what I've been deeply suspecting these last 5 years. Time to get the People's House back come November!

GravatarActually, I lot more complicated than these numbers, at least for Gore:
