Poison Ivy, vile stuff. A heavy dose of round up nails it well, but you have to make it really strong. The store bought crap might work, but I mix my own from concentrate.
I always wear long sleeves and gloves I can wash when I weed, garden or mow. The oil from the plant is the bad stuff, and since it is an oil, it can spread a lot worse than a water based liquid and last for years on garden equipment.
You can get a shot for it once you have it or there are several excellent topic ointments available at the pharmacy. Ask, they will know.
Oh and NEVER, EVER burn the stuff (or any wood that has been near it. What it does to your skin it will do to your lungs via the oily smoke you can inhale. A guy down the road from us was burning poison ivy on his fence and landed in the hospital with damaged lungs, he has never been able to do much of anything since.
Cold, yes it is, have sweats and the freaking HEATER on in the middle of June. But give it a few days, and as Indiana weather is prone to do, it will change to hot and humid.
At least the dogs will eat now, the won't when it's too hot. Wish that worked for me.

We probably won't see any national dems endorse Lamont, but what we might see is a conspicuous lack of them going to Connecticut to campaign with Lieberman, or pubicly endorsing him. I'm not from Conn., so I don't know how often Lieberman brings in other Dem Senators, etc. to campaign with him. But in most years he might not need to. This year, when he needs it most, he might not get much help. Heh - maybe he'll bring in McCain...

Anyone in the Democratic Party in Ct. can ask Joe if he will pledge not to bolt the party and not to run if he loses the Democratic nomination and that he won't support someone other than the Democratic nominee who is chosen by the voters of his state.
Make him give you an answer before the nomination. If he won't promse his loyalty to the party then he is not worthy of the Democratic nomination.
It is the right of any of his constituents to insist on an answer to these questions. He is asking for your support as Democrats. He has no right to ask for your support while refusing to pledge his support to you.
Please. Someone get him on record now.

One of the reasons I've delayed looking into it -- seems all the browsers aren't in agreement with how to display the positioning elements. My solution has been to hard-code everything into tables, and only use CSS to control text elements, etc. It's old-fashioned, but pretty consistent across browsers.

But he said he got caught up in an ultra-aggressive atmosphere in which he initially thought the decision to jam the phones ``pushed the envelope" but was legal. He also said he had been reluctant to turn down a prominent official of the RNC, fearing that would cost him future opportunities from an organization that was becoming increasingly ruthless.
``Republicans have treated campaigns and politics as a business, and now are treating public policy as a business, looking for the types of returns that you get in business, passing legislation that has huge ramifications for business," he said. ``It is very much being monetized, and the federal government is being monetized under Republican majorities." http://www.boston.com/news/natio...tactics?

Hmmmm, when even the NYTimes is asking questions . . . .
Along with the scraps, it was mostly questions that remained.
Chief among them was how Mr. Zarqawi, the terrorist leader killed Wednesday in the airstrike, could have survived for even a few minutes after the attack, as American officers say he did, when everything else around him was obliterated. Concrete blocks, walls, a fence, tin cans, palm trees, a washing machine: everything at the Hibhib scene was shredded, blown to pieces.
It seemed puzzling, too, given the destruction and the condition of the other bodies, how Mr. Zarqawi's head and upper body — shown on televisions across the world — could have remained largely intact.
With rumors circulating in the Iraqi news media that Mr. Zarqawi had begun to run from the house as the first bomb struck, American officials said Saturday that two military pathologists had arrived in Iraq to perform an autopsy on Mr. Zarqawi's body to determine the precise cause of his death.
I was half-listening to Majority Report last night, and I thought Seder was saying that our own Landlord was saying that this is actually a jujitsu move to get the matter to SCOTUS, hoping that Kennedy votes with the good guys.
DemByDefault
i wish atrios would replicate some of that commentary and bring it back onto the blog. majority report is relegated to 1am time slot in my area and my machine isnt always cooperative with streaming things, even thou i have broadband.

AP -- WASHINGTON - Three detainees at Guantanamo Bay apparently committed suicide amid protests of the U.S. military prison by inmates, the Defense Department said Saturday. They were the first reported deaths at the detention center where suspected terrorists have been held for as long as 4 1/2 years.
Two men from Saudi Arabia and one from Yemen were found "unresponsive and not breathing in their cells" early Saturday, according to a statement from the Miami-based U.S. Southern Command, which has jurisdiction over the prison. Attempts were made to revive the prisoners, but failed.

DWD, the need to believe the opposite of all he sees and hears must be a terrible strain to the man, pro'ly arguing would be counterproductive. I grew up in the south where people had to deal with real atrocities by people who held public office, it's a syndrome that requires a really strong need to believe what you know isn't true. But they recover moral principles when the problem is solved - however, they never forgive the ones that solved them.

Three foreign prisoners being held at the US naval base at Guantanamo Bay have died in apparent suicides.
The US Southern Command said in a statement: "Two Saudis and one Yemeni, each located in Camp 1, were found unresponsive and not breathing in their cells by guards."
The military said attempts to resuscitate the detainees failed and they were pronounced dead on Saturday by a physician at Guantanamo, which holds just under 500 foreigners captured mainly in the US war against the Taliban in Afghanistan.

Tens of thousands of fans flooded into Frankfurt to watch England take on Paraguay. Millions of others cheered on the players in British homes and pubs.
The crowds had to wait only three minutes for England to go 1-0 up - but that turned out to be the only goal.

(CNN) -- Three prisoners at the U.S. military's detention facility in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, were found dead Saturday in what could be the first suicides at the compound, the military said.
Prisoners have attempted suicide in the past, but no one had succeeded.
"Two Saudis and one Yemeni, each located in Camp 1, were found unresponsive and not breathing in their cells by guards," said a statement issued by Joint Task Force-Guantanamo. (Watch as the first reports of the deaths are released -- 2:47)
"Medical teams responded quickly and all three detainees were provided immediate emergency medical treatment in attempts to revive them. The three detainees were pronounced dead by a physician after all lifesaving measures had been exhausted."
The names of the detainees were not released. The State Department was notified and was in discussions with the Saudi Arabian and Yemeni governments, the military statement said.

Why it's a very good idea to be on your best behavior when driving. More people than you thought are prone to explosive anger,
"All the Rage: Survey extends reach of explosive-anger disorder
A mental disorder that encompasses a wide range of recurring, hostile outbursts, including domestic violence and road rage, characterizes considerably more people than previous data had indicated, a national survey finds.
At some point in their lives, between 5.4 percent and 7.3 percent of U.S. adults qualify for a diagnosis of intermittent explosive disorder, concludes a team led by sociologist Ronald C. Kessler of Harvard Medical School in Boston. Those percentages, which depend on whether the syndrome is narrowly or broadly defined, correspond to between 11.5 million and 16 million people, respectively.//" http://www.sciencenews.org/artic...060610/
