Woo Hoo! What's more fun than arguing politics with ill-informed strangers?

GravatarI see our own little mini-nazi back up in Canada is trying to butt into everybodies business and raise the age of consent from 14 to 16. Might as well become a 51st state the way things are going lately.

GravatarWay to go, JP!

He was also big into Ozzy. What was hilarious was that he was this red-haired, freckled ginger-Brit even scrawnier than I was (which was saying something) who was in love with the Reagan administration and dumbfounded that anyone could not like them. Good times.

Bloggers can not always be discriminating, but they should try to be harder to please.

Old maid dearies tend to give incidental poppies more nourishment here than they get in Flanders Field.

Gravatarfor res' dinner party sparring:

I found myself at a dinner table full of full-on Faux News wingnuts at a company meeting a few years back. When one of them started spluttering about the "liberal media", I couldn't stand it any longer and spoke up. Then the pack mentality came out as they all jumped me for not agreeing with their conventional "wisdom". I decided that shaming was the best route to take. I started out by saying that most of all, I thought the media in general wasn't really left or right; it was simply worthless. But then went on to say that anyone who would turn Americans against Americans over mere differences of opinion over policy has an agenda, and that agenda is not "what's best for the country." And that anyone who would do this for the purpose of partisan gain is no patriot and has no business opining about the patriotism of others.

Most of them wouldn't look me in the eye after that...by the time I finished they were all looking down at their plates. There were some sheepish agreements, but mostly silence.

And then I wonder why I didn't fit in with that company.

GravatarJP. Thats great news.. Congratulations!

GravatarHere here Jennifer, I worked at a hospital a few years ago where I too was surrounded by pro-war, Faux News, Limball worshipers...I very shortly discoverd that straying from the herd is bad for your employment future.

GravatarA cow orker, out of nowhere, in the lunch room at work, tells me; "Even if gobal warming is real, it's not a bad thing. Things will just be different".

I said, "Unless you live on the coast".

Is this a new GOP talking point?

.

GravatarThings will just be different".
_____

Yeah, that's the ticket...

Gravatar"Turbocharged"? This is kind of what happened to Firedoglake after they went Earth, Wind and Fire... except the guest bloggers there tackled real issues.

I've never heard of this Felber guy before. Am I supposed to have?

GravatarAnd then I wonder why I didn't fit in with that company.

GravatarNY Times columnist Brooks attacks 'Kingpin' of Daily Kos

RAW STORY
Published: Saturday June 24, 2006

In Sunday's paper, conservative New York Times columnist David Brooks attacks the founder of Daily Kos for acting like a "Kingpin" who "commands his followers" to "unleash their venom on those who stand in the way," RAW STORY has found.

"The Keyboard Kingpin, aka Markos Moulitsas Zuniga, sits at his computer, fires up his Web site, Daily Kos, and commands his followers, who come across like squadrons of rabid lambs, to unleash their venom on those who stand in the way," writes Brooks. "And in this way the Kingpin has made himself a mighty force in his own mind, and every knee shall bow."

Gravatarthe more this story gets out the more people will look into kos and decide on their own,

not too many people take the media's word for anything these days

there's no such thing as bad PR if you know how to respond...

Gravatar"I got a call from a conservative blogger with whom I'm appearing at a blog workshop. He'd just read the Cohen piece and much as he said he enjoyed watching liberal bloggers get criticized,"

--Digby attribution to others...

So how much tax dollars are helping set up these "work shops" or how much have the Mellon Scaifes bankrolled?
