GravatarLanny Davis...? Again....?

GravatarAt least Hiiary said she would support the winner of the CT primary.

I know past presidents don't say much about what is happening in present day American politics, but I think this is a different world. I think Bill Clinton should have come out swinging and punched Bush in the face.

Gravatarmer, I agree.

Clinton has been too civil.

GravatarEvening, rational people.

Ah...1998, when "hummer" had a different meaning.

GravatarThere was an article in my local newspaper (montréal) today about Lieberman. The title was: Le Baiser Fatal? (the fatal kiss?)

Gravatari worry for my niece what the world she will grow up to

GravatarAh...1998, when "hummer" had a different meaning.

And also, when I was making a lot more money, and my 401K was growing exponentially...

I've been focusing too intensely on the wars in the Middle East today, coupled with the batshit crazy government we have today. I need to go think about old times.

I can't speak for everyone, but my loved ones and I were doing fine during that time.

GravatarIt would be very entertaining to see Traitor Joe's response if someone asked him about his moral qualms about Clinton's infidelity vs. his don't give a shit attitude about torture.

Gravatardammit, if I wanted to read I would have stayed in school.

You're up too late my dear. Get some juice and go to bed, tomorrow to fight again.

Gravatardigby hammers it home on Lieberman:

On marital infidelity, Joe Lieberman, moral conscience of the Democratic party, is uncompromising. On torture and inhumane treatment of prisoners he sees shades of gray. From where I sit, Joe Lieberman's failure to publicly and resolutely condemn this torture regime, (much less vote to reward those who instigated it) puts the lie to his claim to moral superiority and personal integrity. A man who cannot see unequivocally that torture is wrong cannot be a moral leader. I resent the fact that he seems to believe that he's entitled to the benefits of that reputation when he has proven he is actually little more than a puritanical sexual scold --- on the big moral question of the day he has fallen very, very short.

That's exactly why I don't like Lieberman and don't think he represents the best interests of America or the Democratic Party...

And I was just talking to my millionaire sister, who told me it would be a mistake for me to quit my job, cash in on part of my 401K, and go back to college. "What are you going to retire on? You're a fool..."

Of course, she's the only sibling who supports Bush.

Fifty years from now he'll be remembered almost as well as Coolidge.

GravatarIt's funny how the term "morality" is generally used in the country to refer only to sexual behavior.

Well, maybe not funny. Perhaps stupid is a better word choice.

Gravatarand speaking of moralists:

"The Sins of Ralph Reed": GQ Takes On The Former Golden Boy of the Christian Right, and Abramoff

In the upcoming GQ, Sean Flynn takes on — and takes down — Christian Coalition and Republican stalwart Ralph Reed, just days before the Georgia primary this Tuesday, July 18th in which Reed will seek the Republican nomination for lieutenant governor. Flynn pulls absolutely no punches here, charting Reed's rise through the Christian Coalition through his dubious dealings with Jack Abramoff , sketchy history as a campaign consultant and sketchier history touting moneymaking schemes pegged to life insurance payouts from elderly Indians and African-Americans ("mortgaging black people"). The article is long - almost 8,000 words - and packed chock-full of example after damning example of Reed's religious hypocrisy (gambling) and unsavory dealings (Abramoff said of him that he was "a bad version of us"; Reed called his frequent business partner "arguably the most influential and effective GOP lobbyist in [sic] congress." He is also the person credited - though everyone denies it - with delivering the South Carolina to George Bush in 2000 by fanning the suggestion that John McCain's adopted Bangladeshi daughter was his illegitimate black baby.

No, I think proving that he is an infinitely superior statesman while making outright fun of Bush (forced to sit next to him and take it) was about as stellar as it's going to get.

Question for discussion. Has our reputation as a nation fallen to such a low level that it's essentially irreperable within our lifetimes?

Perhaps the most classic example of this is the way that a movie can get a G or PG rating even w/ lots of violence, but will get rated R if people are shown loving each other. It's completely weird. Sex and enjoying the body are taboo, but pain and killing the body are a-ok.

GravatarI remember peace and prosperity.

And to be honest, under Coolidge the country wasn't doing so bad.

I'm not sure I agree with the Harding comparison, but I'll go along with it. Harding is liable to be far more memorable than Clinton after the current period of history winds to a close. Especially because of contrasts with Wilson; it's circumstantial. As for Coolidge, most people forget he was in there somewhere...

I never commented on today. I guess my point was that Harding will be memorable for longer than Clinton despite having been President about seventy years prior. Really, I just like my Coolidge comparison.

GravatarMoon,

The thing is, everything is always uncertain. I think part of the scariest part of getting older is realizing that no one really is in charge, no one really knows for sure that they're doing the right thing, everyone is kind of making it up as they go along. But eventually you realize that, although scary, it's better this way. Otherwise, there's be no chance for growth, for delightful surprises, for serendipity that saves us, or for fun.

GravatarMy daughter has the WWE on. Why, I don't know....to see just HOW bad bad can get, I guess.

I remember back before the 2004 election, Jon Stewart had Bishop Tutu on his show and Bishop Tutu said that the rest of the world still loved Americans, but hated Bush. He said that this could change if Bush were re-elected. My not-at-all-scientific experience has been that people from Europe, at least, are still willing to give individual Americans a pass once they know that you didn't vote for Bush. I think the next Democratic president will have a lot of fence-mending to do, but I do agree/hope that it can be done.

I've found that people who are better off are perfectly to share - advice. Their material goods, not so much.

I was out of work for a year under Bush I and spent the Clinton years getting myself back on my feet. My family was full of contempt for how I'd "screwed up my life," and was big on lectures and short on actual help.

Since Bush took office, 5 out of my 6 brothers has spent significant time out of work. (The 6th, alas, died in 2000, but probably would've been okay.) It almost makes me wish they were still speaking to me, so I could snark to their faces.

GravatarMy family was full of contempt for how I'd "screwed up my life," and was big on lectures and short on actual help.

Oh, I went through a long, long time when my family got to sneer at me for having "screwed up" my life -- by having a baby at 17 and being divorced by 19, by getting a low-paying job as a public school teacher, etc., etc.

But I wouldn't give up any of those years or experiences for anything. Life has to have some twists and turns or it's too boring to imagine.

Strangely, once Son graduated from Princeton and law school and I graduated from law school, all the discussion of how my "life" was "going" came to a screeching halt.

You just can't let other people establish your value in your own eyes nor get to decide whether you are a success or a failure.

GravatarBest post you've ever done.

GravatarA Mormon sect believes that.

So does Pat Robertson...
http://www.msmagazine.com/sept03...03/ sizemore.asp

Playing down his aristocratic pedigree-- he's the son of a U.S. senator, is related to two U.S. presidents and has a law degree from Yale-- Robertson says his success is all the Lord's work. He calls it "God's law of reciprocity: God is the source of wealth. You give and God gives back. You give more and God gives back more."

That formula figures prominently in his TV fundraising appeals. If it worked for him, he implies, it can work for anyone. Pledge drives on The 700 Club feature frequent testimonials from viewers who say their financial circumstances improved dramatically once they became regular CBN donors. And the cash continues to roll in. CBN and Operation Blessing together reported nearly $150 million in contributions last year.

Even so, Robertson isn't above taking a little government largesse. Last fall, just a few months after he criticized President Bush's "faith-based initiative" as a "narcotic" that would make religious charities too dependent on the government, Operation Blessing was awarded a $500,000 grant under the program. Apparently, Robertson is now a convert. On the May 8 700 Club, he argued that charities like Operation Blessing should be allowed to participate in the program even if they practice religious discrimination in hiring. Such discrimination, he said, amounts to "nothing more than choosing steak over apple pie in a restaurant."

GravatarThere is probably something wrong with me but I thought that the presidential BJ was kind of healthy for the US.

Certainly I think it is healthier than Leiberman's reaction to it and Clinton's sucking up to him now, whatever the reason, which I can't imagine.

In any case, I am now really disillusioned about Big Dog and will "never be the same" as the song goes, about him.

Thank you!! Bill Clinton was the worst thing that ever happened to the Democratic Party. The only victories he ever had were for himself...at the expense of welfare, a Democratic Congress, gays in the military, Al Gore, and the list goes on. I can't believe the people still hooked on his Kool Aid. They are like mindless zombies who don't remember what he actually DID.

GravatarYou know, I'd be okay with Clinton coming out for Lieberman, as long as he was to insist that Lieberman abide by the decision of the CT primary voters.

I don't give a damn who Clinton diddled with; it irks me when liberals begin with the obligatory: "Of course I disapprove of his Lewinsky affair, but..." Screw that; it's between him, his lover and his wife.

The problem I have with Clinton is how he backed down from the opposition with his stupid triangulation. Instead of throwing in the towel, they should have redrawn the health care bill and pushed it again and again.

The criticism goes for the other Dems who couldn't back their party's president and policies, but hemmed and hawed and backed down. Especially that puritannical grandstander Lieberman.

The first black Miss America.

There were two months left in Vanessa Williams' reign when they made her surrender her title.

The following year, a Miss Ohio had been caught shoplifting. Not only was she NOT made to surrender her title, but she was first runner-up....to Miss Utah.

Of course, Miss Ohio and Miss Utah were lily white.

Vanessa has been asked so many times to come back to be a judge or perform at that cattle show....she refused to save their plummeting ratings.

GravatarHezbollah or Hizbullah[1] (Arabic ‮حزب الله‬, meaning Party of God) is a militant Lebanese Islamist group, with a military arm and a civilian arm, founded in 1982 to fight the Israeli occupation of southern Lebanon.
Along with the Amal movement, Hezbollah is the main militant organization representing the Shia community, Lebanon's largest religious bloc. Founded with the aid of Iran and funded by it, it follows the distinctly Shiite Islamist ideology developed by Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, leader of the Islamic Revolution in Iran. It calls for the establishment of an Islamic state in Lebanon, on the principle of sovereignty of the jurisconsult, although recognizing that this could only come about with the consensus of the Lebanese people.
The civilian wing of Hezbollah runs hospitals, news services, and educational facilities and participates in the Lebanese Parliament. Its Reconstruction Campaign (Jihad al-Bina) is responsible for numerous economic and infrastructural development projects in Shia-populated areas of Lebanon.
Hezbollah is regarded by some in the Arab and Muslim worlds, such as the Iranian and Syrian governments, as a legitimate resistance movement and is a recognized political party in Lebanon, where it has participated in government. Around the world, however, Hezbollah is widely viewed as a terrorist organization bent on the destruction of Israel.
However, as it initiates attacks against civilians in Israel and ideologically supports such attacks by other organizations, such as Islamic Jihad and Hamas, several international organizations, including the EU, and many governments, including the United States, have designated it a terrorist organization(*).
On March 10, 2005, the European Parliament voted overwhelmingly to adopt a resolution that stated `Parliament considers that clear evidence exists of terrorist activities on the part of Hezbollah and that the EU Council should take all necessary steps to curtail them.'
This organization is headed by Hassan Nasrallah.

Yeah, I hope these guys teach those damned Israelis....................

The relationship -- but for many people separating the two is something that they could not or would not want to do -- think of the jealousy issues in (fundie) Mormon polygamous marriages & spread it through an entire community. When this sort of thing has been tried (I think of some interesting "heretical" groups in Czarist Russia) there has usually been a dominant male who called the shots.

Then there is the issue of raising children in a community setting -- this has been a deal breaker in experimental "household comunities" in charismatic parishes.

Gravatarplantsman --
I think it is a trait I was born with -- I do not like to be touched (I do not tell my friends that -- they might misunderstand) -- this is actually not unusual in monks, I think

Hecate --
Curiously, all monastics I know are introverts -- the opportunities for solitude & silence are wasted on extroverts -- but we are introverts in community (for our own good -- it stretches us)

fourlegsgood --
It is not a matter of wanting to retreat from the world -- it is a matter of what to not get tangled up in the things that get in the way of reality.
Most people today take a dim view of the monk’s desire for seclusion. They see it as flight and do not appreciate the monk for fleeing. Perhaps “flight” is not the right word; certainly the monk does not escape anything, nor does he desire to.
Pressed to explain, the monk might turn the thing around and say that it was precisely because he was tired of running that he became a monk. Taken from one point of view, who is more “in flight” than the “man of the world”? When one talks of escape, one might more likely look elsewhere than a monastery if he wants to see it in action.
People in flight had best not come to monasteries and those who desire to escape had best look down another road. This is no place for the timid and the skittish. Those who fear their own depths and the deep of night had better find something to occupy them or divert them.
There is nothing wrong with this. God has not called everyone to the inner experience. Not all are equal to it. Some shy away from their own depths with very good reason. Solitude is not everyone’s dish, nor the lonely life.
But it is a bit unfair to call those who embark upon it men in flight. The monk is a man of his time and when he goes into the desert he takes his world with him. Every man’s heart is a little universe and to understand one’s time one need only read one’s own heart, honestly and truly.
The monk seeks quiet and peace and seclusion not to get away from “the world,” but to get closer to it; not to flee the times’ ills, but to heal them.
This is the center of the monk’s whole life. The purpose of the monastery is to provide a setting in which this inner business can go on. The monastic community can be a lot of things and is many things to many people, but it is this inner activity that is the very heart. Without this it simply is not a monastery, and with it, the place is justified.

GravatarMer, you have such great expectations of the former right wing president, Bill Clinton.

Putin takes swipe at Blair's fundraiser
Saturday July 15, 10:37 PM

ST PETERSBURG, Russia (Reuters) - Russian President Vladimir Putin took a deliberate swipe at Prime Minister Tony Blair on Saturday, turning a question about democracy into a jab at Blair's embattled fundraiser Lord Michael Levy.Levy was arrested on Wednesday and questioned in a "loans-for-Lordships" scandal, a probe into allegations that state awards had been given in return for cash.

Putin was fielding reporters' questions at the end of the first day of a G8 summit in St Petersburg when a journalist from a British newspaper asked him how he would deal with Blair's inevitable grilling on the state of Russian democracy.
"We regularly talk about these kind of questions with all our colleagues, including the prime minister of Britain," Putin said. "We discuss this openly and willingly, and it's almost always on the agenda for our bilateral meetings."

He said he always listened to criticism and was glad to take into account the views of fellow leaders at the summit, but Russia would always make its own decisions."There are also other questions," he said after a long pause. "Questions, let's say, about the fight against corruption. We'd be interested in hearing your experience, including how it applies to Lord Levy."Blair was not available to respond, having just finished dinner with Putin and the other G8 leaders and their spouses.Putin, a former KGB spy, often produces unexpected quips in an attempt to expose the weakness of his critics.

U.S. Vice President Dick Cheney and Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice have both criticised Russia this year. But President George W. Bush backed away from confrontation on Saturday, saying Russia had its own style of democracy.

But when Bush urged Russia "to promote institutional change in parts of the world like Iraq where there's a free press and free religion", Putin replied: "We certainly would not want to have the same kind of democracy as they have in Iraq, I will tell you quite honestly."

All traits he shares with Liberclown.(/snark)
Bill Clinton is pimping Lieberclown, the biggest ho of them all. Chelsea must have a juicy deal in this. Is he trying to sauce Hillary with repubs or just trying let Ned Lamont aim higher than the Senate race? Ned would make a nice VP on the ticket. Business smart, an education advocate, and a fundraiser. His commercials had a wider appeal than simple CT demographics. I think people are selling Ned short if they only see him as a local race, he's got much more broad appeal, though not a natural speaker he can speak to a topic clear enough and would be a change of pace pick.

The NAC for choice tho, the archive that never closes. 2am, you can stroll down to the NAC, go in the back door, mosey up to the secret scholars' reading room, pull out your documents and start working..... Stagger back out at 7am, find a Tim Horton's, replinish your body's requirements of jammy doughnuts and coffee (and maybe find a little bacon) and go back again.... When you only have five or six or seven days all told, the 'we never close' archive is a great thing.

Besides, Ottawa is a strange and wonderful town. I can walk from the Algonquin Hotel to the NAC at 2am without a care in the world. Not many places where that's possible. And pick a flower from the city flower beds along the way.....

Primal Scream has a new record out "riot city blues". It's back to their 60's Rolling Stone type of sound. Quite rétro. I prefer their "evil heat" sound myself.

Thom Yorke's solo cd "the eraser" is a chilly record. Electronics and fantastic depressing lyrics. More suited for a cold february sunday, but practical in the summer when you don't have air conditionning

My fave of the summer is still the King Biscuit Time "black gold" cd. But i think it's only on imports for now. Super cool folktronika from Steve Mason, ex-Beta Band

If you need a fix for early XTC, then The Futureheads cd is for you. News and Tributes its called

GravatarThe New York Times hits BushCo with a chair - in tomorrow's editorial:

Editorial
The Real Agenda

It is only now, nearly five years after Sept. 11, that the full picture of the Bush administration’s response to the terror attacks is becoming clear. Much of it, we can see now, had far less to do with fighting Osama bin Laden than with expanding presidential power.

Over and over again, the same pattern emerges: Given a choice between following the rules or carving out some unprecedented executive power, the White House always shrugged off the legal constraints. Even when the only challenge was to get required approval from an ever-cooperative Congress, the president and his staff preferred to go it alone. While no one questions the determination of the White House to fight terrorism, the methods this administration has used to do it have been shaped by another, perverse determination: never to consult, never to ask and always to fight against any constraint on the executive branch.

One result has been a frayed democratic fabric in a country founded on a constitutional system of checks and balances. Another has been a less effective war on terror.

.

GravatarThe only good thing about Wendy's is the baked potato. If you must do fast
food, supermarkets are better, but chicken joints are alright, especially if like KC
you can get several "real" side dishes instead of just approximations of french
fries. But then if you like fries the best are at National Coney Island.

Jesus, guys, -- is there any subject
you don't have an opinion on?

How about parthogenisis?

Yes or no?

GravatarOh please. What the hell would anyone do with those things?

GravatarThe New York Times hits BushCo with a chair - in tomorrow's editorial:

it took the NYT 5 years to understand???

GravatarOh please. What the hell would anyone do with those things?

They have 1001 uses.

GravatarWhat does anybody do with Van Gogh? Look a them of course. St. Augustine preserve me.

GravatarThe US continues to block calls for a cease fire in Lebanon.

This is just horrible.

Well what did you expect?

GravatarAnybody want to buy my current convertible? Reasonable....

GravatarThey have 1001 uses.

Nurturing the next generation. Okay, what else?

GravatarAt Woolworth's we used to get the grilled cheese sandwiches and french fries for 79 cents...something ridiculous like that. They key was to eat the pickle slices before the juice leached out into the crispy fries or the sandwich bread.

GravatarDespite the fact that Israel has not attacked Hizbullah, Israel's attacks on Lebanese infrastructure are always being introduced on local news as "Israeli attacks on Hizbullah."

GravatarNurturing the next generation. Okay, what else?

Knocking over lamps
Causing car accidents
Causing fights
Staring at
Did I mention staring at?

GravatarChirac should send in air batteries to Beirut and should be lamenting the day he supported the US in forcing Syria out of Lebanon.

Gravatar...A local journalist told me bitterly this week that Iraqis find it ironic that Saddam Hussein is on trial for killing 148 people 24 years ago, while militias loyal to political parties now in government kill that many people every few days. But it is not an irony that anyone here has time to laugh about. They are too busy packing their bags and wondering how they can get out alive...

Sorry.

We're sure he'll get right on that.
It seems like this might be it; the patience of the Europeans is out. Between actively if covertly supporting American torture chambers, some insultingly located in the same dungeons used in the past by the Soviets, and tolerating a newly rabid and bloodthirsty Israel, Europe seems to be perfectly asleep.

GravatarZiothugs blew up a bus evacuation children. Damn terrorists, they can go to hell and all their fortified setttlements and kibbutzes too. Who are they to call anyone terrorist?

Do they have Sharon's brain in a jar? Or did they go Ted Williams with him?

GravatarBill Clinton is a very forgiving man, considering that Lieberman built a good part of his infamy on bashing Clinton. As the post says, he's part of the past.

Well, remember Bill's a consummate politician, and when there's politics to do, everything else takes a back seat. Right now Hillary and Joe are both trying to get reelected, and they both "voted for the war". If it's an issue for Joe, it's an issue for Hillary, and Bill's having none of that shit. He's loyal to the party, and that's fine. He's loyal to Hillary, and that's also fine. Unfortunately, the latter is going to affect the former in this case, and cause Bill to support someone he doesn't need to, to provide cover for his wife. If Joe loses, Lamont most likely wins, and that's not splitting the party. But if Bill supports Lamont, he has to mention the war, and he's not about to do that. Politics sucks, ya know? I just noticed that this afternoon. No, honestly...

Putin is some sort of islamofascist, or, even worse, a Democrat, for not wanting this wonderful freeance.

GravatarWe hear Olmert is actually a pussy compared to his recent predecessors, and he's thought to be in over his head.

Gravatar“Irish-Americans have been great supporters of mine,” Mr. Lieberman said in remarks to the small crowd, between prelunch sips of Guinness. He seemed, at the moment, every bit in his ethnic political element — a backslapping, blog-free retail setting characteristic of the Democratic Party he grew up in.

Ah, the ethnic political element. I work with some old-time Democratic party guys from South Boston; it seems less of an "ethnic" thing than a reality of the old machine.

Gravatarit took the NYT 5 years to understand???
Plum P

Yes, these past 5 years have not been journalism's finest hour. The NYT have covered up so many crimes - DSM, Valerie Plame, the FISA story - delayed for a year - when it could have made a difference in the outcome of an election. They're guilty of the conspiracy of silence.

I hope this editorial means that they'll stop pretending that there was EVER a reason to go to war Iraq, too. And their reporters need to focus like a laser beam on this fascist regime. They need to start speaking truth to power on a daily basis - and stop covering up for this maladministration!!

If ever there was a time when we needed real investigative journalists - it's now!!

Doug,

Lebaron, 1992, 98k, not at all bad, just back from Burgie the Mechanic, white, a/c, top&windows go up and down, all the other critical things work good, top has two slashes from the foul evildoer who tried to steal it, but that can be repaired, trunk hinge needs to be fixed cause otherwise it goes clunk on your head. Everything else? Runs about 30mpg. Nice car.

GravatarCheck out Ariel Sharon biography...reads like Konfessions of a Klansman. He is the Zio-version of al-Zarqawi.

Actually, I think they've been active participants, and not just Judy Miller.

What do you want for this. I may need an AC buzzbomb for down there. My mits PU truck has no AC and the conversion would be expensive and complicated. I may be in the market for another vehicle if the price is right. (I don't want to buy a new auto, if I don't need to)

Gravatar(((LURK)))

GravatarA bit of a lull here. What was that Israeli chick's name again?

GravatarSharon: Former paratroop commando and commander with extensive battle honors
Bibi: Former recon
Barak: Former commando

Olmert: Injured enlisted in a combat brigade, he became a "combat journalist."

In a militaristic society with compulsory service, one can only speculate on the meaning of such a gap...

GravatarWhat was that Israeli chick's name again?

Eden Mor.

I think its a pseudonym.

Just remenber. She had to serve in the military.

Don't know if it's Eden Mor or if you can shortcut to pics with Google Images.

GravatarGWPDA, email me if you want to talk more about the convertible. I'm running out for a bit.

GravatarKelly's 3400, I'll go 3.
Water pump just was replaced, couple of other things. I think I need to add Freon to the system - understand it's been in the wrong hands for awhile - but the rig works well. Rubber's all been replaced within the last year, which you'll learn is a primary deal out here - fuel hose and like that. Battery should have another three summers on it. Registration is now running a big $50/pa. Tires - Michelins, probably still have 20k left on them.

Gravatarowls

Gravatar My mits PU truck has no AC and the conversion would be expensive and complicated.

Doug, often not as compicated as you would think. Two major pieces in the kit:condenser and compressor. Most vehicles nowadays either have it or are built ready for it. The kits come with the wiring harnesses and tubing, etc all ready to go. It'll take a weekend under the hood.

to the point of absurdity.

GravatarYou liberals are completely around the bend with that wacky bias. Why does the left always support terror and taxation?
Alan Hamilton

Why are you out without your keeper?

GravatarSo I think the Democrats are making a mistake to go after each other ... for a situation none of them created.

On the contrary, some of them did help to create this situation.

Some of them were duped, either willfully or not, into voting to unconstitutionally grant Congressional authority to the executive branch.

Some of them, like Joe Lieberman, were among the most vocal and vehement advocates of this stupid, senseless invasion.

It is only sensible for the voters of Connecticut to want someone who will really represent their interests. Clinton should have committed to supporting the winner of the primary race.

GravatarYou liberals are completely around the bend with that wacky bias. Why does the left always support terror and taxation?

GravatarAlthough it does not actually suprise me that grade A cocksucker and all round idiot K*nt Hovind had guns in his "church", neatly stored, no doubt, beneath the copies of the "Protocols of the Elders of ZXion" that he sells, you have to ask yourself...

If there really is a God, then why hasn't this fucknozzle been smoted?

Why does the right always think taxation is terror?

GravatarAt the risk of coming across as Estaban Rojo, this is the dumbest fucking endorsement I have ever seen in my life.
Can a nation get by as a democracy with single digit voting???
It's this sort of strict adherence to status quo that begs for shitheads like Hitler to come out from under their rocks.
GODDAMNIT! Joe -fucking- Lieberman is the best the Democrats have to offer??? Why bother voting?

GravatarWhat the fuck is wrong with Clinton? Fuck him.

Gravatar"Sadly, neither Lanny Davis nor Bill Clinton have learned much from that whole affair."
This is not at all suprising. These characters are the ones responsible for the state of the democratic party today. It can be argued that the ascendacy & result of Clintonism is the undoing of the democratic party. While I have great respect for Clinton and his personal political skills, I have always felt that he you could not build a poltical movement around it. It is simply to concerned with me-ism: where it is great for getting the token individual politician elected, it does not have any coattails. It is also a perenially political posture, both in perception and to a very large degree in reality.

GravatarWant to stop a bloviating repug in his tracks? Tell him/her you dislike Bill Clinton too (but not for the idiotic reasons Repugs hate him). Simply, Clinton implemented conservative policies and appointed conservatives in sensitive positions and did much to set back progressivism in the USA. Talking to real Americans across the nation, I always hear that they really hold a grudge against conservative Dems especially those who always side with Corporate America. Frequently I hear that Americans like electing conservative Repugs because they know what they are getting up front.
Oh, and as for Clinton giving his sage election advise to other Dems, it would be most helpful if Clinton could convince Ross Perot to run in all elections and do what he did for Clinton. All Perot's votes came from conservative voters who would have otherwise voted for the Repug candidate... twice. If Perot had not run in 1992, Bush Sr would have won and we would never agian have heard from the DLC, and the progressive revolution that has been growing since 2004 would instead have started in 1992. BTW...Clinton got fewer votes in 1992 than Dukakis got in 1988, and he never got more than 49% of the electorate. Is it any wonder that Dems keep loosing elections and re-elections by following the advise of Bill Clinton?
