What a wanker indeed. So the next time he is on Press the Meat, we can expect Timmah to follow up on this right?
Oh, okay, it's a rhetorical question, I admit.

if we leave too soon for reasons of American politics, it's going to be disaster for the Iraqis and for us
And using American soldiers as asswipe for Bush's colossal boner is completely unacceptable.

Yeah, he's a wanker, but I think this guy takes the cake for wankerdom, so to speak.
I'm pretty speechless on this one. How big of an asshole do you have to be to sue someone who used your boat to rescue people after Katrina?

What does "for reasons of politics" really mean anyway? Traditionally, it's about getting elected, and thus appealing to maximum voters despite the issue of "what's best for the country." But voter's wishes are an inherent good to some extent, and it doesn't follow that someone wouldn't actually believe in doing the popular thing anyway. What's popular may not be "right", but it doesn't follow that it must not be right. (In other words, Loserman is indulging the fallacy of assuming the worst motive/interpretation among possible motives/interpretations.) That sounds kind of technical debate speakish, but that's the mood I was in.

The first word that comes to mind is "Republican".

In January, he received a letter from Mills noting that the Lyons had received less than half the replacement value of the boat and its motor from their insurance.
The letter asked Morice for $12,000 to "settle this matter."
The boat owner jerk was a hell of a lot luckier than most of the people in NOLA who are getting nothing for their houses.

Yup, you just know this guy is a GOP bastard. I wonder how his neighbors are going to react now that the lawsuit has been filed, and received this publicity. Hope it doesn't get too nasty.

I suppose the good news is, Northern state Republicans like Shays and Liebermann are starting to feel a fire lit under their butts to move back to the mainstream position of demanding accountability from the administration. I dislike Joe as much as you Dems, but if his CT Republican colleagues can help him see the light I suppose that's better than having him become the second coming of Inhofe.

If this were 1970 or 1972, I'd expect to hear the Republicans start talking in earnest about "peace with honor." Something is different this time; not sure what. Oh, yeah, this time they're busy planning World War III.
