ABC Tinkers with 9 / 11 Drama
By REUTERS
Filed at 10:19 p.m. ET
LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Under pressure from former President Bill Clinton and the Democratic Party, ABC scrambled on Friday to make 11th-hour changes to a miniseries suggesting he was inattentive to the Islamic militant threat that led to the September 11 attacks.
Officials at the Walt Disney Co.-owned network said they were still tinkering with the five-hour production, titled ``The Path to 9/11,'' which is scheduled to air without commercial interruption in two parts on Sunday and Monday.
But ABC declined to say how the movie was being reshaped or whether any changes would address specific complaints lodged by Clinton, his former aides and congressional Democrats that the film contained numerous inaccuracies and distortions.
Still in hardback and not cheap.

With regards to ABC "tinkering" with their steaming pile of shit...
Trade publication the Hollywood Reporter, citing unnamed sources, said the scene involving Berger and an aborted mission to capture bin Laden would be toned down so that no particular individual was made to appear culpable.
It sounds like ABC is only doing enough to avoid being on the losing side of a slander lawsuit.

Palestinians forced to scavenge for food on rubbish dumps
The Israeli military and economic siege of Gaza has led to a collapse in Palestinian living conditions and many people only survive by looking for scraps of food in rubbish dumps, say international aid agencies.
(...)
"Women in Gaza tell me they are eating only one meal a day, bread with tomatoes or cheap vegetables," said Kirstie Campbell of the UN's World Food Programme, which is feeding 235,000 people. She added that in June, since when the crisis has worsened, some 70 per cent of people in Gaza could not meet their family's food needs. "People are raiding garbage dumps," she said.
Not only do Palestinians in Gaza get little to eat but what food they have is eaten cold because of the lack of electricity and money to pay for fuel. The Gaza power plant was destroyed by an Israeli air strike in June. In one month alone 4 per cent of Gaza's agricultural land was destroyed by Israeli bulldozers.

In Bushworld the storytellers have no responsibility to tell the truth. The public carries the entire responsibility of discerning the truth.
This has been the argument I have been hearing regarding the propaganda Path to 9/11 and now it would appear that it applies to body counts as well. Earlier today we hear that we pay journalists to produce propaganda about Cuba.
Caveat Emptor seems to be the philosophy of the neocon administration.

Senate: Saddam saw al-Qaida as threat http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060..._co/
iraq_report
WASHINGTON - Saddam Hussein regarded al-Qaida as a threat rather than a possible ally, a Senate report says, contradicting assertions President Bush has used to build support for the war in Iraq.
Released Friday, the report discloses for the first time an October 2005 CIA assessment that before the war, Saddam's government "did not have a relationship, harbor or turn a blind eye toward" al-Qaida operative Abu Musab al-Zarqawi or his associates.

Violent deaths for August, a morgue official told McClatchy Newspapers on Friday
could we give a round of applause to the McClatchy folks? Recently disemboweled by one of those "shareholder campaigns to enhance value" by selling off half the papers that made up the group.
Minneapolis Star-Tribune is one of the remainders, I forget the rest. But how long is the rump remainder going to have the resources to keep staffers in places like Baghdad? And why were they apparently the only ones to actually go to the fucking morgue and ask the poor bastard on duty how many incoming he'd had in the last month, instead of taking the "word" of the US flak who we now know was instructed to feed us horseshit?

No one likes us-I don't know why
We may not be perfect, but heaven knows we try
But all around, even our old friends put us down
Let's drop the big one and see what happens
We give them money-but are they grateful?
No, they're spiteful and they're hateful
They don't respect us-so let's surprise them
We'll drop the big one and pulverize them
Asia's crowded and Europe's too old
Africa is far too hot
And Canada's too cold
And South America stole our name
Let's drop the big one
There'll be no one left to blame us
We'll save Australia
Don't wanna hurt no kangaroo
We'll build an All American amusement park there
They got surfin', too
Boom goes London and boom Paree
More room for you and more room for me
And every city the whole world round
Will just be another American town
Oh, how peaceful it will be
We'll set everybody free
You'll wear a Japanese kimono
And there'll be Italian shoes for me
They all hate us anyhow
So let's drop the big one now
Let's drop the big one now

On Thursday, Caldwell revised the figures, posting a statement on the website of the Multi-National Force-Iraq that the murder rate had dropped even more - by 52 percent from July.

Government leaders seem to be bracing for more bodies. A meeting was held recently between officials in the Health Ministry to talk about importing refrigerators for the morgue. The idea was to set them up in an empty building nearby.
But the discussion quickly broke down over what kind of freezers they would use: ones with sliding doors or a single large freezing room. More talks are scheduled.
In Baghdad on Friday, three civilians were killed and three others wounded when a bomb targeting the convoy of the Karrada neighborhood police commander exploded. Three police officers also were wounded.
Police also discovered 14 bodies in a western portion of the city.

Reposted from below:
The most important consideration for me is Gore's passion for the environment. He appears to view the world in a more holistic manner than any other potential candidate I can think of. The result of this vision is the ability to connect the dots more completely than his potential rivals can, which will ultimately produce as radical an administration as bush's, but radical in a positive and good way. We need to reverse things very quickly. Gore seems to be the one who has the greatest chance of doing this. And remember: as America goes, so goes the rest of the world.

Steve, I thought the trolls were telling us the other night that we weren't supposed to link to Aravosis due to some sort of feud.
But I'm surprised that the BBC would show the Freeper Fantasies. After all of the flak they took as the "Baghdad Broadcasting Corporation" from wingnuts, I'd be giving 'em and Dear Leader's Butler the big middle finger.

This story makes me nauseous. How can I read a quote like:
"Not included, for example, are scores of people who died in a highly coordinated bombing that leveled an entire apartment building in eastern Baghdad..."
and not think about all the people I know who still support this adminstration? Educated people. People I used to be close to. It's the saddest thing.

I'm getting so sick of this relentless war mentality.

But ABC declined to say how the movie was being reshaped or whether any changes would address specific complaints lodged by Clinton, his former aides and congressional Democrats that the film contained numerous inaccuracies and distortions.
...but you see, Saddam was much worst than a civil war, that's why your GIs are there!

What a fucking outrage.
I'm particularly pissed, having seen some Lt.Gen. on The News Hour who, when Ray Suarez asked him how the numbers could be so different from the Iraqi Ministry of Health, simply said "We're confident in our numbers... there are a lot of political agendas out there."

He's just gone right down the memory hole, hasn't he? Been disappeared... he was a handful.
Lt. Gen. Peter Chiarelli was the guy who was on Thursday. Here's what he said:
Disagreement over violence reports
RAY SUAREZ: This morning, the Iraqi Health Ministry released statistics that showed that, as far as they were concerned, August was just as violent a month as July in the Iraqi capital, this even with Iraqi forces and the United States, in a joint operation, concentrating on trying to quell the violence in Baghdad itself.
What's your response?
LIEUTENANT GENERAL PETER CHIARELLI: Well, there -- there are political agendas being played in -- in this government, as they are in all governments.
And we don't necessarily agree with -- with -- with those numbers that have come out. The numbers that I have seen in the August time period indicate a decrease in sectarian violence. All the indicators that we have indicate that, in Baghdad and the surrounding areas, and really throughout all of Iraq -- but since Baghdad and Diyala Province have been the key provinces for sectarian violence, we saw a significant decrease in the months of August over the same numbers we saw in July.
The Ministry of Health has numbers. We have numbers. And I -- I will tell you that I feel comfortable that our numbers indicate a decrease in sectarian violence in the month of August.
Hm. Reading between the lines, maybe Chiarelli wasn't so comfortable having to lie after all.
They should definitely have him back and ask him about it. Think I'll send 'em a letter.

Regardless, you can't beat this with a stick: ABC News is suffering from toxic shock or something. Look at the top six stories. It's way beyond Onion territory. Take that, media theorists!

But seriously, Dith is behaving just like an immature person who has just discovered that he has a terminal illness. Maybe he hasn't actually hasn't yet received official notification, but instead just intuits it on some organic level.

I have just never seen anything this AMAZING, and I'm sure that nobody else here has, either.
The only right wing movie star I've had a problem with is The Duke-- Hunter Thompson, in Fear and Loathing on the Campaign Trail, documents how he and another guy tried to get Mr Morrison-- uh, Mr Wayne to talk to a bunch of Vietnam Vets Against the War. The Duke: "tell em to put in writing...Jesus I need a drink."
The others-- Dick Powell campaigned for Nixon. Susan Hayward was a right winger. Ruta Lee, a Lithuanian transplanted into Canada-- all of them outspoken right wingers. No problem here. But John Wayne wouldn't meet his opponents like a man? Fuck 'im.

Good evening, bats!
Newsflash: The army--you know, the ones losing life and limb trying to keep the oil flowing--wants to go green:
Memo to Pentagon brass from the top United States commander in western Iraq: Renewable energy — solar and wind-power generators — urgently needed to help win the fight. Send soon.
Calling for more energy in the middle of oil-rich Iraq might sound odd to some. But not to Marine Corps Maj. Gen. Richard Zilmer, whose deputies on July 25 sent the Pentagon a "Priority 1" request for "a self-sustainable energy solution" including "solar panels and wind turbines."
The memo may be the first time a frontline commander has called for renewable-energy backup in battle. Indeed, it underscores the urgency: Without renewable power, U.S. forces "will remain unnecessarily exposed" and will "continue to accrue preventable ... serious and grave casualties," the memo says.

Speaking of Joe and his website, some familiar names lurking therein started this hilarious dialog with Dan Gerstein, per Kos:
Responding to a question about that Washington Times piece that claimed Lieberman had gotten millions in GOP dollars, Gerstein led off the fun.
Let me get this straight. You are asking us to disprove an anonymous, single-sourced story from a magazine of questionable credibility that not one respectable news outlet has even come close to picking up on? What's next, you want us to provide evidence that Joe Lieberman doesn't beat his wife?
Seriously, folks, I am more than happy to answer legitimate questions raised on the blog, and I apologize for not doing more of it yet (been a little busy doing a few other things), but can we please have a little perspective? Thanks.
Dan Gerstein | 09.06.06 - 8:23 pm | #
Joe Lieberman beats his wife?
Mike | 09.06.06 - 8:28 pm | #
Why does Joe beat his wife? Is it because she's a pharmaceutical lobbyist?
BluetooththeGreat | 09.06.06 - 8:31 pm | #
I don't know, blue... I just heard about it from Dan Gerstein himself.
Mike | 09.06.06 - 8:33 pm | #
Now, we have someone who, posting as Dan Gerstein, hopefully it is and not a namestealer, wants to tell us that it is the equivalent of "when did you quit beating your wife"?
If this is as untrue, or "conspiracy theory" as you want us to believe, why even address it at all?
Either it is true, or it is not. To address it in this manner only serves to fuel the fire that Lieberman's campaign is actually hiding a significant amount of support (maybe not financial) from the RNC.
David (Austin Tx) | Homepage | 09.06.06 - 8:39 pm | #
What's next, you want us to provide evidence that Joe Lieberman doesn't beat his wife?
Actually, that would be great.
NTodd, Blogsatz Eliterach | Homepage | 09.06.06 - 8:40 pm | #
Are you really suggesting that if Joe took money from Republicans then he also beats his wife? Because you know it's possible that he took money from Republicans and does not beat his wife. I don't know why this Dan Gerstein is making baseless accusations like that against Joe. Doesn't Joe have enough to worry about in this campaign (his voting record, his flip-flopping, his self-righteous personality) without jerks like Dan Gerstein making false accusations?
winklife | 09.06.06 - 8:48 pm | #
First, Joe Lieberman does NOT beat his wife. Second, I will personally look into whether or not Joe's campaign has taken a significant amount of money from registered Republicans. I don't think so. But I can make sure. How's that for transparency?
Dan Gerstein | 09.06.06 - 8:55 pm | #
Joe did not beat his wife to the lobbyist trough. My understanding is that she worked for a PR firm that represented clients with pending legislation before Congress well before Joe is being forcably

Part II (The findings on terrorism can be found at my initial post.)

That Penn plane was shotdown... I was watching from a Radio Shack store and several others witnessed, we turned it into a giant situation room and had every network rolling.
In fact my friend called when the first plane struck and said there was a man who warned we would suffer for the Israel/Palestine conflict.
He knew who bin laden was just by reading papers and watching the news, he knew it was no accident when he heard it. He remembered wtc one.
We watched it unfold and a passenger on the tail section called in a network(NBC financial I believe) and said"there's a fighter plane off the tail, we'll be all right now..."
Then the announcer says:"It looks like we've contact, maybe we'll reconnect with him..."
My lying eyes and ears saw that and my friend can verify, but what does he know, he just plays reliogous jazz music these days and named his son after Miles Davis.

Latest Re Senate Intel Report on the Iraq Debacle
by
Larry C Johnson
Received a heads up from a friend about the Senate Intelligence Committee Report on the Iraq Intelligence:
FYI: Two parts of the Senate Intelligence Committee's "Phase II" investigations of the use of prewar Iraq intelligence are due out at noon today. They are supposed to be on the committee website. While these are the two most innocuous of the five parts -- i.e. least damaging to the White House -- they contain some interesting information, particularly on the IC's largely correct assessment about alleged links between Saddam and al-Qaida. I would also draw your attention to the "Additional Views" of the Democratic Senators.
Remember, the devil is in the details.

Lawrence O'Donnel identified Rove as a leaker. Statements of intent do not apply to people not given clearance. Whoever told Armitage, that person should face charges of outing identity. The NSA most likely handled the information and it clearly was leaked from multiple sources, but Rove has already been identitified by a journalist for personally outing Plame's role with the CIA. This simply expands the investigation, as Amritage was not a Senior position and had no clearance for the same reason. Technically the POTUS had no clearance either, until he used the PATRIOT Act to do dirty work. Cheney's daughter directed Near East affairs at the State Department which included Niger. That is why the Ambassador's findings, in agreement with Wilson, were being overrun and Bolton's less accurate stovepipe was made the policy and statement. Lawrence O'Donnel has personally identified Rove who had no clearance. By word of law Armitage had no clearance. Someone above him was the Plame rat. Powell, Rice, Cheney, or George Bush. Senior department heads. The statements by Armitage simply expand the case. This did not end the search, it simply unfolds new layers, and holds to light the fact that statements of record appear to have been made in concert to hide the original senior source.

Why Are We Back In Iraq
Early Wednesday morning, White House Press Secretary Tony Snow fielded questions from reporters on ABC's taped interview with Major General Shaukat Sultan Khan, press secretary to the president of Pakistan, which aired the night before.
While discussing the "peace deal" Pakistan agreed to with pro-Taliban militants in the North Waziristan region, Khan told ABC's Brian Ross (on tape) that -- if found -- Osama bin Laden wouldn't be arrested, as long as he promises to behave like a "peaceful citizen."

Gas prices locally have inexplicably dropped as low as $2.30/gallon.
What we need is some inane explanation that bears no truth to reality and poliutically supports the GOP this election cycle.

Morning, ql!
OT--The 568 page 9/11 report is ready for popular consumption. I think this is very cool:
he 75-year-old artist, whose resume includes protracted stints at Marvel and Harvey Comics, gave up after just 50 pages. Then he had the kind of eureka moment that causes light bulbs to flash and exclamation marks to pop open in a bubble above the heads of comic book heroes.
Colon decided to team up with long-time collaborator Sid Jacobson to produce a graphic novel version of the report, which documents intelligence and police failures in the run-up to the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on New York and Washington.
The result is The 9/11 Report: A Graphic Adaptation - a 130-page offering that looks like a comic book and reads like a comic book - complete with sound effects like "BLAMM" when a plane smashes into the Pentagon and "R-RRUMBLE..." when the massive south tower of the World Trade Center begins its terrifying collapse.
The book, which costs 17 dollars in paperback and 30 dollars in hardback version, was published in late August to coincide with the fifth anniversary of the attacks and debuted on the New York Times bestseller list at No 6 in the paperback nonfiction category.
Reviews of the book have been mostly favourable. The Chicago Tribune called it "unexpectedly moving," while the Florida Ledger called it riveting and said that "everyone should read it".

Bushco wants you to think so. That way, when they jettison Rummy soon as their official scapegoat, the rest of 'em will be 'washed clean'. But Rumsfeld did NOT operate in a vacuum. The Iraq fiasco was overseen, contributed to, approved by, and administrated by the whole of the administration. a whole bunch of people are responsible for 9/11. Two Bush administrations, one Clinton.
Sarah Deere
I think that's the point of the propaganda. It's intended to raise doubt, not convince you of something.
Taking what appears to be the obvious: Bush was solely responsibile for 9-11 by ignoring the briefing of Clinton advisors, planning to cut the budget on terrorism, and ignoring the intelligence that had everyone running around with their hair on fire and trying to pin responsibility on Clinton.
This leaves everyone unsure of who was to blame and blurs responsibility - accountability.
In an analogous way, the swiftboating of Kerry left people unsure of whether he deserved those medals he got.
though the election is soon, it is coincidence that........
-Gas prices are waaayyyy down.
-Chevron just announced they just found new oil in the Gulf of Mexico, where they have been looking for 80 years.
-Osama just released a new video showing what an evil, brilliant mastermind of terror he is.
-ABC/Disney just released a piece on 9/11 that shows it was all the fault of the Clinton administration, not the current one.
Can anyone think of any more?

Why did we go to war with Iraq in the first place? BushCo has yet to answer that question.
"We did it to stabilize oil prices at a higher level, to eliminate a threat to Saudi dominance of OPEC, and to blast an enemy of an expansionist Israel" would get them hanged.
So, they stated reasons will continue to change, from "WMDs" to "terror" to "freedom" to "purple pachyderms" and so on until they find one the public will buy.

Bush Wants Speech to Interrupt 9/11 Film
By DAVID BAUDER, AP Television Writer
Friday, September 8, 2006
(09-0 14:19 PDT New York (AP) --
ABC, still trying to deal with angry former Clinton administration officials about their Sept. 11 miniseries, was also faced Friday with a request from President Bush to interrupt the film for a speech.
The president has asked broadcast networks to clear time for an address to the nation Monday at 9:01 p.m., or at the start of the last hour of "The Path to 9/11" on the East Coast.
The network did not immediately say what it will do. It has said the film, which stretches to five hours running commercial-free Sunday and Monday, is still being edited amid concerns by Clinton officials that it drastically distorts history.

who knows, with this crowd, what they are trying to do, Mostly, I think, they are trying to hold on to whatever power they have.
The Truth would damage both sides, I'm afraid.
Congress has it pretty good, and we are now challenging the status quo - and they none of them like it. People have made the point - valid, I believe - that they're all vote and money whores.
And, on that note, I think I'll try to get some more shut-eye.... Later 'gators. Sweet dreams, sweeter still your wakeful moments.

Path to 9.11 for speech
Look how mad and how quickly everyone got mad over this Disney thing.
Alas, some Dems got mad, some named in the movie got mad, many bloggers are mad, but the NASCAR dolts around here aren't mad a bit.
It almost feels like they're throwing everything out there in hopes that something will stick
Looks that way to me, too. Problem is that the Democrats sren't responding in kind with known GOP feces.
It worries me what else they have up their sleeves.
My best guess is the Firing of Rumsfeld. He will become the scapegoat for ALL of the Bushco fuckups. And i would not be the least surprised to find Lieberman as his replacement.
Think about this: if Lieberman loses, he's free to become Sec. of Def. If he (Diebold) wins, he can resign to become Sec. of Def., and the Republican governor of CT. gets to put in his replacement - a Republican, just perchance?
And then Lieberman, a lifelong "Friend of AIPAC" will be there to call for the bombing of Iran before they go nuclear/menace Israel/ open that natural gas pipeline to Armenia that bypasses the big multinat oil companies and OPEC quotas.
A 'bipartisan', 'conscience-driven', 'not-a-registered-neocon', 'It's-all-Joe's-fault-when-it-goes-off-the-rails-
not-Bushco's-fault' call for the bombing of Iraq. From Defense Sec. Lieberman.
Of course, i'm an idjit, so what do i know?

Good morning, ql. It's funny, because I was thinking about this yesterday in regard to another, equally sensationalistic, film. A friend of mine has released a video based on one of the films about Jim Jones and the Jonestown mass suicide, and I was recalling that there was another, even cruddier one, with a messianic nutjob hero named "Jim Johnson" who took his follwers to "Johnsontown" in Guyana.

Environmental group Greenpeace called on the European Union to ban the use of chemical plastic softeners in sex toys because they contained dangerous substances known as phthalates.
"Adult sex toys contain the same toxic substances that the European Union banned from use in children's toys," Greenpeace said in a press release from its international headquarters here.
The environmental group said it was shocked to find that seven of the eight sex toys it had tested contained between 24 and 51 percent of phthalates.
....
Greenpeace research has shown that phthalates can disrupt the human hormonal system, diminishes fertility and adversely affects the kidneys and liver.

i'd probably have to get the older daughter's textbook and brush up before the upcoming Congressionals. But it does touch on the problem of defining/discerning 'intelligence' for voting purposes.
As Heinlein said, "Why should a 30 year old moron's vote count, and not a 15 year old genius'?" But again, question begging - what is 'genius', what is 'moron'?
Not to mention the Jim Crow laws - amny of which demanded levels of literacy, education, etc for voters, but were only enforced on black voters. There's always a Diebold around it - it's just figuring out how they would do it.

Robert Heinlen probably wasn't even very good at math.
While I'm not the Heinlen fan I once was, I have to disagree with you there. Robert (and his wife) had a very good grasp of math. There was a story about him speaking to someone (I think from JPL) about a story he once did, and how he wanted to make sure that a transfer orbit from the Earth to the Moon he was describing was going to work. So he picked up some butcher's paper and started working out the math behind orbit, then had his wife proof what he'd did, then tweak the calculations until he was sure what he was trying to do would work.
It was said the space geek said something like, "Why didn't you just put this in a computer?" and Bob's reply was, "My dear boy, this was 1948."

Looking back now at what he wanted to do (I think I read that for the first time in the last 1970’s), there was a big “Jim Crow” element behind his thinking. I remember his argument was that people just don’t think when it comes to politics, but knowing a lot of math doesn’t trickle down into being able to decide which candidate is the best and who’s the full-of-shit-semi-Fascist guy.

he one-eyed Taliban leader Mullah Omar, who heads the religious militia fighting U.S. and NATO forces in Afghanistan, is living in Pakistan, though not in the same area where al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden is thought to be, according to a U.S. intelligence source.
The elusive Taliban leader is believed to be in Quetta or its environs, a city of one million that is the capital of Baluchistan province in southwestern Pakistan.
The intelligence source said of Mullah Omar's location: "At one point we had it down to a particular section of Quetta."
Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf did not address specifically the question on his visit to Kabul Thursday, but said "Please do understand the Pakistan government (is not) behind anything that is happening in Afghanistan."
Musharraf gave Osama a "Get Outta Jail Free" card, the Taliban does what they want from Pakistan, and this just confirms what a lot of people suspected.
We start bombing Pakistan tomorrow, right? Or are we just gonna give them a few billion more in aid and look the other way?

What I wrote to The News Hour:
On Thursday night, The News Hour featured this exchange between Ray Suarez and Lt.Gen. Peter Chiarelli:
On Friday, Mark Brunswick and Zaineb Obeid of McClatchy Newspapers reported:
BAGHDAD, Iraq - U.S. officials, seeking a way to measure the results of a program aimed at decreasing violence in Baghdad, aren't counting scores of dead killed in car bombings and mortar attacks as victims of the country's sectarian violence.
In a distinction previously undisclosed, U.S. military spokesman Lt. Col. Barry Johnson said Friday that the United States is including in its tabulations of sectarian violence only deaths of individuals killed in drive-by shootings or by torture and execution.
That has allowed U.S. officials to boast that the number of deaths from sectarian violence in Baghdad declined by more than 52 percent in August over July.
But it eliminates from tabulation huge numbers of people whose deaths are certainly part of the ongoing conflict between Sunni and Shiite Muslims. Not included, for example, are scores of people who died in a highly coordinated bombing that leveled an entire apartment building in eastern Baghdad, a stronghold of rebel Shiite cleric Muqtada al-Sadr.
I suggest that you should invite Lt. Gen. Chiarelli to return to explain his remarks in the light of this disclosure.
That's so fucking "moderate and responsible" it made me gag to write it.
Another example of how all the important news gets buried on Fridays.

Ruth - The trolls had to write "I must not eat paste" 500 times. Kept them busy.
Oh, also trolls come here so they can have an outlet for saying shit that would normally get them a broken nose for their trouble if they said it to someone in the "real" world. It's a vicarious thrill for them.
Gary, it would seem, doesn't even bother trying to argue any more. He just spouts some crap that makes no sense and then runs off. His is more the "ring the bell and leave a bag of flaming dogshit on your porch" troll, though we know what's in the bag and pour water on it.
A lot of the trolls are like that now. Their talking points are in the shitter, so they now just try to be the internet version of the fat kid standing on the sidewalk just at the edge of your property who yells “You suck!” over and over ‘cause he thinks it’s funny.

Yes, and I got into huge fights with my brother in law over that. He was gung ho on invading Iraq to 'stop terrorism' and I mentioned that there were no Iraqis involved in 9-11. He knew that, and he was actually invading both SA and Iraq. Do I need to point out that he's never served in the military, and spends a lot of his spare time watching WWII documentarys on the History channel?

Excessively skinny fashion models will be barred from a major Madrid fashion show later this month for fear they could send the wrong message to young Spanish girls, local media reported.
Madrid's regional government, which is co-financing the Pasarela Cibeles, has vetoed around a third of the models who took part in last year's show because they weigh too little.
The authorities collaborated with a Spanish health organisation to come up with a minumum body mass -- a height-weight ratio -- of 18 for the models.
...
Organisers said they wanted to "help ensure public opinion does not associate fashion, and fashion shows in particular, with an increase in anorexia, a disease which, along with bulimia, is considered ... as a mental and behavioural problem".

Funny how that seems to happen.
I’ve upset a few people from time to time where I work, especial now, when I point out that Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11, but our “buddies” the Saudis and the Pakistanis are doing their part to “spread the word” and help anyone who’s a crazed fundamentalist. When the war started you couldn’t say a word without being shouted down, now even our executive staff knows better than to talk about Bush where more that three people can hear them, ‘cause they know they’re going to catch hell.

And this from Canada:
Goat-free roads made me speed
A Swiss man caught speeding on a Canadian highway has blamed his actions on the absence of goats on the roads.
The man was caught driving at 161 km/h (100mph) in a 100 km/h (60mph) zone.
A traffic officer's notes said the Swiss driver had said he was taking advantage "of the ability to go faster without risking hitting a goat".
Canadian police spokesman Joel Doiron said he had never found a goat on the highways of eastern Ontario in his 20 years of service.
"Nobody's ever used the lack of goats here as an excuse for speeding," Mr Doiron told the AFP news agency.
"I've never been to Switzerland, but I guess there must be a lot of goats there," he said.

Actually, I liked the last paragraph in this segment. Releasing classified information will "help our enemies" or it might show that "we are full of shit".
--------------------------------------
Within weeks of the kickoff of the Baghdad security plan, the U.S. military's top spokesman, Maj. Gen. William B. Caldwell, boasted that the murder rate in Baghdad had fallen by 46 percent and attributed most of the fall to the new security sweeps.
On Thursday, Caldwell revised the figures, posting a statement on the website of the Multi-National Force-Iraq that the murder rate had dropped even more - by 52 percent from July.
That claim was immediately contradicted by the morgue figures, which trickled out in accounts by various news organizations citing unnamed officials.
Johnson said he couldn't comment on morgue figures and declined to release the raw numbers on which Caldwell's claim was based. He said the numbers were classified and that releasing them might help "our enemy" adjust their tactics.
