Clinton said it was a “legitimate question” but challenged Wallace: “I want to know how many people in the Bush administration you asked why didn’t you do anything about the Cole.” First, Wallace responded, “we asked.” When pressed further by Clinton, Wallace demurred: “I — with Iraq and Afghanistan there’s plenty of stuff to ask.”
So in other words, Chris, you didn't ask and Bushco wasn't about to tell.

Apparently, Faux is putting Wallace on all over the place this weekend in an attempt to do some damage control over his getting bitch-slapped by the Mighty Clenis™.
He really does come off looking not only like a WATB of the first order, but an incredibly inept, piss-poor interviewer. Lost control of the proceedings, then whimpered like a whipped dog in an attempt to steer it back to the subject he deliberately veered away from.
I'd love to hear a comment from Chris' daddy on his performance...

However, I wish Clinton hadn't said "I tried and failed", we all know how they will play that clip over and over again. Instead, he should've said, "I tried and you and all your cohorts in the right wing did your best to prevent me from succeeding". Oh well, perhaps, another time.
I am sick of hearing lately blaming Clinton for not catching OBL. To me it seems very clear that Clinton was very effective in containing the terrorists, that is why they waited for him to leave office and acted once they saw how inept the new admin. was. This should be the meme, Clinton was effective in preventing any attacks on us, while Bush was sorely lacking and allowed the worst attack to take place.

we all kind of implicitly agreed in the immediate aftermath of 9/11, to pretend that there was plenty of blame to go around. Everything we've learned since then about the time between Bush's inauguration and 9/11 demonstrated that this was wrong: it really was Bush's fault. While Richard Clarke, Paul O'Neill and everyone else were writing their books proving that Bush and Cheney didn't just take their eye off the ball, they dropkicked it up over the roof and out of everyone's sight to focus on Uncle Ronnie's Magical Forcefield, Cyrus Nowrateh was writing his TeeVee show. Now we have those LTEs somebody mentioned on the last thread.

I wish Clinton hadn't said "I tried and failed"
I wish all politicians would be so "normal". Hell, FDR's entire political philosophy was, well, we'll try this, and if that doesn't work, we'll try something else. We're in a fix here, and we need to think of ways to get out of it.
Not think of ways to lie or cover up shit in order to be re-elected.

Calif. Gov. Vetoes Universal Health Bill
By STEVE LAWRENCE
The Associated Press
Friday, September 22, 2006; 11:46 PM
SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger vetoed a universal health care bill Friday, saying it would create a "vast new bureaucracy."
The bill would have provided every California resident with health insurance through a program administered by a new entity, the California Health Insurance Agency.

NTodd,
Maybe it's because I'm in the south this weekend and my immunity from political insanity is weak from living in NE for so many years, but the local NC-SC press is rabidly attacking Clinton and the Dems for trying to hide the truth of how he protected Osama Bin from our Special Forces. But ABC and Disney (May God be Praised) were steadfast in reporting the real truth to the American people. The fact that our windows were open this morning and I didn't hear anyone else in the neighborhood scream, "OH BULLSHIT!" makes me think they will buy it again this time. Just like all the other times lately.

BUSH: I am not in the position to make comments on that right now. Once we finish our full investigation, our government will be willing to discuss that.

I fear sometimes that the honorable opposition to liberal values doesn't really care about truth, justice, or the American way. But surely Rupert Murdoch lives for all three.

BTW, when you limit to Bush being within 5 of USS Cole, you get only 86 results.
Found this little nugget, too:
As for terrorism, 'the best way for our nation and other free nations is to punish those who would harm our citizens,' says Bush. And, referring specifically to the bombing of the USS Cole, 'if we find out who did it, there's going to be a consequence.'

As far as the USS Cole is concerned, I sorta remember after 9-11 they blew up some Yemeni Sheik they said was resposible using an armed predator drone. As far as I vaguely remember between our Special Ops and the Yemeni govt. they pretty much off'd every one of the plotters.
But they didn't Nuke Yemen, so it wasn't a real retaliation.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger vetoed a universal health care bill Friday, saying it would create a "vast new bureaucracy."
And all the Rethugs have been complaining about the "hard left" turn he's made this year to get elected.
How can *anybody* be against universal health care? Are its opponents really willing to say that you should die because of your tax bracket?
What's next, some glib remark about the "surplus population"? Hey folks, Scrooge was supposed to be a cynical exaggeration in order to make a point, not United States domestic policy.

Clinton's biggest problem is that he wants everyone to like him.
What he refuses to realize is that there are cretinous dickheads who he cannot charm, and that there is such a thing as evil in the world. Dick Cheney is simply the most recent manifestation of it.

you have a very good point. when i was in high school, i refused to say the pledge because of Clinton's DADT policies. but i have a caveat: in 1992 in my speech class, i said that Clinton was the least of 3 evils, so i knew he had his problems. but, it's funny how perspective changes.

Enough of the witty, or non witty, (including my own) repartee. Look way up top, I suggested we all read the latest tomdispatch. What he makes clear is that the ship of empire has set sail. There's no turning her around. So now we all fight, or pretend to fight, the good fight as best we can. But I doubt very much that the 25 to 50 House seats that are even vaguely up for grabs will make one damn bit of difference. Tena yells in despair, you countenance her cry because she's an old hand here. I'm just an old fart who is very saddened, no, in despair, about what happened to a republic that had everything and decided it didn't have enough.
Oh, and by the way, it's a shame Jeebus wasn't waterboared first. He wouldn't have had to get crucified and all that.

You're the crazed one. You're not paying attention to the political realities that led Fox to ask Clinton for a first interview. He went in prepared and stomped on Wallace. The regular Fox viewer with no ability to think will only confirm their vision of Clinton. No loss. The open-minded minority of Fox viewers will see facts and truth.

Literally on the subject of dogs biting, our senile old male Doberman--who used to win 2nd place in prize shows because he was so big, majestic, despite the big disqualifying bump on the base of his skull--would regularly frighten anyone who came to the door by jumping through the screen.

If you consider googling a recursive process and not just a single iteration, then you're best served by starting with whatever terms you think best describe the product, and you can start zeroing in on the "proper" search terms as you see what results crop up.

"Fall" on the Gulf Coast means all the leaves come down at once. Brown.
Actually, I saw that in west Texas once. Cold front came through at Thanksgiving, with not a breath of wind. Every tree in Midland (both of them) dropped all their leaves at once. A perfect, round carpet of leaves at the base of every tree.

whiskey,
In DC, you see some of those strollers that you're talking about, but you also see classes of little kids holding on to these double ropes and walking along in a line from the park or whatever to their daycare center. Only works with the four and five year olds, though, I think. I also imagine you could google day-care supplies or day-care equipment.

Via Kos, this just in from the Times:
A stark assessment of terrorism trends by American intelligence agencies has found that the American invasion and occupation of Iraq has helped spawn a new generation of Islamic radicalism and that the overall terrorist threat has grown since the Sept. 11 attacks.
The classified National Intelligence Estimate attributes a more direct role to the Iraq war in fueling radicalism than that presented either in recent White House documents or in a report released Wednesday by the House Intelligence Committee, according to several officials in Washington involved in preparing the assessment or who have read the final document.
The intelligence estimate, completed in April, is the first formal appraisal of global terrorism by United States intelligence agencies since the Iraq war began, and represents a consensus view of the 16 disparate spy services inside government. Titled “Trends in Global Terrorism: Implications for the United States,’’ it asserts that Islamic radicalism, rather than being in retreat, has metastasized and spread across the globe.
An opening section of the report, “Indicators of the Spread of the Global Jihadist Movement,” cites the Iraq war as a reason for the diffusion of jihad ideology.
The report “says that the Iraq war has made the overall terrorism problem worse,” said one American intelligence official.

The original line-up was just fucking awesome, and a hell of a lot more than "Rock and Roll." Listen to the entirety of "Let It Bleed," or "Beggar's Banquet," in one sitting, and you see it.
But the Stones lost its soul when Mick and Keef kicked Brian Jones out of the band.
They've put out some fine stuff since then, and occasionally they really hit it out of the park. "Exile," "Sticky Fingers," "Emotional Rescue," "Mixed Emotions" - great stuff, but not as great as what they were doing just before Brian Jones was forced out.

CASS CITY -- A wolverine roaming the state's Thumb area in recent years is a female that likely traveled to the state from Ontario, test results show.
In February 2004, photos snapped by a state Department of Natural Resources wildlife biologist marked the state's first confirmed sighting of the forest predator in the wild since reports by fur traders dating to the late 1700s and early 1800s.
In addition:
Muskegon County is reporting the first sightings of a cougar in this century.
