GravatarI would have the pear crumble with lightly whipped heavy cream, myself. But it sounds divine, no matter what.

GravatarWhy do I hear that so often?

Because you have excellent hearing?

Nope. My hearing really sucks. Bad ear infection in college, tinitis.

GravatarI tortured Felix this morning.
I sent him a bagel and creme cheese.
When I didn't hear back, I also sent some slices of purple onion and a slice of tomato.
Still haven't heard from him.

Clinton should have said "Watch it, Wallace. This thing can go off without warning. Remember Monica's dress? Sure you do, you've thought of nothing else for the past 8 years."

GravatarNope. My hearing really sucks. Bad ear infection in college, tinitis.

This is the Phoenix video I was talking about in the earlier thread -- directed by Roman Coppalo (whose sister, Sophia, is attached to one of the band members).

This is a long song (10 minutes!) with several different parts several of which are really quite fucking cool. I like the section which includes the song's title in the lyrics, bizarrely enough evocative of Zeppelin and Cologne-style techno at the same time ...

GravatarIs this how ritual sacrifices are done these days?

GravatarPowerloin's "Deacon"

A few readers have objected to my use of the term "terrorist rights wing of the Republican party" to describe Senators McCain, Graham, and Warner. Short-hand descriptions of movements or factions are often imperfect and sometimes misleading. Think, for example, of the mischief in the term "civil rights movement" as applied to its current incarnation.

GravatarBonsoir!

Hearing loss sucks. I had a sudden idiopathic loss of hearing earlier this year. Total and complete deafness in one ear. After a couple weeks, came back to about 80%. I felt like I dodged a bullet.

whether Snow's ability to communicate (and in some cases perhaps help shape) the president's message has been a significant factor in Bush's surging approval rating. GravatarFor the next month large parts of the "news" will be pre-election manufactured distractions.

Suddenly -- OBL death rumors, The torture "debate," Clenis "controversy," Gas prices mysteriously dropping, Iran hype in overdrive.

Anything to keep everyone's attention off the 800 lb. miserable failure in the middle of the room.

GravatarPowerline rationalizing Clinton's "crazed" reaction:
Clinton has no defense for his feckless response to the mounting terrorist threat other than the honest and very limited defense that he just didn't imagine these guys could successfully attack us on large-scale at home. Clearly that defense won't do, so instead he lashes out at Wallace, Fox News, ABC, and the "right-wing."

Riiighht... To the extent that that is true, it was exponentially true for Bush, who gutted and ignored existing Clinton programs.

GravatarBilly Clenis Bush is doing all he can to convince us 9/11 wasn't what it really was:

JOHN AGREES: That's right. I'd go farther in defense of President Bush, too. The record is clear that he believed more effective, definitive action needed to be taken against al Qaeda and ordered a plan for such action to be prepared early in his Presidency. As I recall, such a plan was either just complete or almost so, when the terrorists struck first. Also, while one can argue that Bush didn't act aggressively enough soon enough, he didn't pass on an opportunity to collar bin Laden, as Clinton did. How do we know this? GravatarSpy Agencies Say Iraq War Worsens Terror Threat

By MARK MAZZETTI
Published: September 24, 2006

WASHINGTON, Sept. 23 — A stark assessment of terrorism trends by American intelligence agencies has found that the American invasion and occupation of Iraq has helped spawn a new generation of Islamic radicalism and that the overall terrorist threat has grown since the Sept. 11 attacks.

The classified National Intelligence Estimate attributes a more direct role to the Iraq war in fueling radicalism than that presented either in recent White House documents or in a report released Wednesday by the House Intelligence Committee, according to several officials in Washington involved in preparing the assessment or who have read the final document.

90% of these arguments we have now have nothing to even do with any grand clash of ideas or push and pull where people argue in good faith and end up honestly convinced, but you would never know it because what we keep calling "debate" is really only a big display of the pathetic extremes of human rationalization, where we get to measure to what extent people are willing to continue on insisting on how right they are.

GravatarCan we just lock Bob Shrum in a trunk until 08 is over?

GravatarAnd I bet you believe in magic bullets, too!

I suppose you are a pilot, genius?

GravatarNo time to try and catch up, so I'll just jump in to remark that earlier today, it suddenly flashed upon me that I would definitely rather see Clinton out there, energized and righteously giving his detractors hell, than doing his other humanitarian stuff. He has to watch himself, of course, because of his heart problems.

Since 9/11, it's as if the Criminal Cabal put Clinton in an empty silo, then began pumping shit through the roof-- notwithstanding Bill's clubby relationship with 41. And even though I never was exactly enthralled by Bill, I appreciate his charisma and am not immune to it.

All this to say that I think that to the extent that Clinton can handle it, and to the extent that he's not constrained vis-a-vis his wife's political career, he ought to take every opportunity to pump the shit that has been, and is being, dumped on him right back where it belongs.

Because in spite of what our trolls would have you believe, there is still considerable affection and loyalty for Bill out there. I don't think the typical tired "crazy" smear will stick to him. I just think the sight of him engaging the opposition vigorously may inspire sympathy and support for Democrats.

At least between now and the election, I wish he'd avoid ceremonial bipartisan Happy Horseshit with the Unitard™'s Parental Units and Laura.

GravatarLets hear a song, Blue Eyes.

You got it, baby.

Out of the tree of life, I just picked me a plum
You came along and everything started to hum
Still its a real good bet, the best is yet to come

The best is yet to come, and wont that be fine
You think youve seen the sun, but you aint seen it shine

Wait till the warm-up is underway
Wait till out lips have met
Wait till you see that sunshine day
You aint seen nothin yet

The best is yet to come, and wont that be fine
The best is yet to come, come the day that your mine

Come the day that your mine
Im gonna teach you to fly
Weve only tasted the wine
Were gonna drain that cup dry

Wait till your charms are right, for the arms to surround
You think youve flown before, but you aint left the ground

Wait till youre locked in my embrace
Wait till I hold you near
Wait till you see that sunshine place
There aint nothin like it here

The best is yet to come, and wont that be fine
The best is yet to come, come the day that your mine

Right!

And I was able to lose NORAD and crash into the reinforced wing of the Pentagon like I was threading a needle!

true. If it was the blogs we'd call it trolling. As it's the mainstream media we honor it with the term "debate".

Especially among the Bush Crime Famiy whose reputation he's working so hard to polish!

Almost as hard as Monica polished him!

GravatarSo you have no answer how your ramblings tie together? It's okay. Just say so, genius.

GravatarWASHINGTON (AP) - An agreement between President Bush and Senate Republicans has been hailed on Capitol Hill as a "bold compromise that respects our system of government."

Bush's original plan called for American soldiers to take a running jump off a fifty-story building. "Anything less," Bush senior officials asserted, "would embolden terrorists and send the message to our enemies that we are weak. The terrorists have to know that we can plummet down on them at any time."

Critics of the President's gravity-based terrorist deterrence program have called it "suicide," but according to the terms of the agreement, there will be no suicide. "Suicide is not an American value," President Bush stated this week at a Rose Garden press conference.

Under the compromise, worked out by Republican Senators McCain, Graham, and Warner, the soldiers will jump off a forty-story building and will not be required to run before the jump. "It's a breakthrough that allows the President's vital program to continue without violating the rule of law," McCain said.

Immediately after the compromise was announced, White House legal cousel suggested that the President would still have the authority to have the soldiers "sprint" before the jump. "We agreed not to have them run before the jump," administration lawyers said. "Sprinting is clearly not running, as the two words are spelled completely differently."

Senate Democrats, who have sat out this debate, indicated that they would not put up any road blocks to the compromise becoming law. Senator Levin said, "We would prefer to see the soldiers jump out of the thirtieth story, but you can't have everything."

GravatarI just completed my Nueske's bacon restock. I really wish they'd give a per-pound discount beyond 3 pounds.

You mean Terrell Lambert, who intercepted the pass off of the receiver's back? Sorry, friend, he was inbounds when he had control of the ball.

GravatarBin Laden's most recent public message came June 30, when an audio recording was posted on an Islamic Web site. He stated that Abu Hamza al-Muhajer had replaced Abu Musab al-Zarqawi as leader of al Qaeda in Iraq. Al-Zarqawi was killed in a U.S. airstrike earlier in June.

The CIA confirmed the voice on the tape was bin Laden's.

LOL! The CIA and the media thinks you all are a bunch of fucking idiots who believe that so-calld "voice-recognition technology" is even remotely capable of such "confirmations" in 2006.

I'd be more convinced if some "handwriting expert" came forward with a check endorsed by Osama.
