Sounds good to me. And I'm betting #3 will happen. 20% of the vote goes to the unsupported, invisible GOP candidate with the gambling problem, through sheer inertia. Yep. That's what he'll get, due to straight-ticket, force-of-habit voters. Mark my words.

I'm fixated on this, too. I've always expected an eleventh-hour, "wag the dog" style strike on Iran, to rile up the wingnuts. But I would have expected more lead-up. Democratic leaders, increasingly confident they will seize control of the House in November, are laying plans for a legislative blitz during their first week in power that would raise the minimum wage, roll back parts of the Republican prescription drug law, implement homeland security measures and reinstate lapsed budget deficit controls.
House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (Calif.) said in an interview last week that a Democratic House would launch a series of investigations of the Bush administration, beginning with the White House's first-term energy task force and probably including the use of intelligence in the run-up to the invasion of Iraq. Pelosi denied Republican allegations that a Democratic House would move quickly to impeach President Bush. But, she said of the planned investigations, "You never know where it leads to."
Taking back the country would be a wonderful belated birthday gift.

canadian voting:
1) Go to the voting poll with the card Election Canada sent you by mail teling you where to go
2) they check your ID and give you a piece of paper and a pencil
3) you write an X by the name of your chosen candidate
4) you put the vote in a sealed box
a couple of hours after the last poll closed in BC, we get the final results. Too simple for America!
