She's just atrocious.

GravatarDear gott in himmel, that's what the once estimable progrock band Yes has descended to? What, they're trying to resucitate Journey or something?

Dunno what provoked this latest youtube war, but it must have been nasty.

Good thing I was stocking up this week.

GravatarCripes, doesn't Atrios ever link to non-white musicians?

GravatarBy KIM NGUYEN - Associated Press Writer

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.(AP) The Rev. Ted Haggard agreed to resign Saturday from his New Life Church after its independent investigative board recommended removal, saying he was guilty "of sexually immoral conduct."

"We, the Overseer Board of New Life Church, have concluded our deliberations concerning the moral failings of Pastor Ted Haggard," a statement from the church said. "Our investigation and Pastor Haggard's public statements have proven without a doubt that he has committed sexually immoral conduct."

He is motivated by 9/11. Maybe someone should tell him that Iraq wasn't involved in that.

Gravatarfourlegs, if you're still building that fleet of rockets, maybe we can gather up the atriots and get out of here.

Too bad there's no place for us to go that's close enough to reach but far from the rethugs.

On second thought, back to work on the original plan, that rocket to the sun is going to be loaded heavy.

I think the funniest thing I've heard today is some fundie preacher who is one of Haggard's "protogés" says that Haggard's fall is proof that sin that can tempt and ensnare someone who's not vigilant (or something like that.)

Not for nothing, but being straight, I'm never tempted by gay sex. Or meth either for that matter.

But it sounds like it's an ongoing problem for fundie republicans.

Gravatar(last thread) Republicans just can't get a break. Now, to add to a weekend of historic pre-election grief, Saddam's lawyers have asked that announcement of his sentence be delayed---with one of the reasons having to be that Bush not benefit from its timing.

I hadn't thought of it until the news story about extra security, but I'm thinking the administration had already had second thoughts themselves. The prospect of the Sunni insurgents reacting to the verdict by ramping up the standard daily dose of mayhem by about a factor of 10...sorta wouldn't be the demonstration of an orderly Iraq the White House had in mind, would it?

GravatarDid Atrios say, "Escalates"?

Oh my.. that was bad. *shutter*

i've been thinking how kerry's comment was taken out of context (admittedly he has a way of making that happen), but it's not so far from the truth.

and it's not just the soldiers, a lot of people did, still do, believe dick and george's bullshit. some of them even have advanced degrees.

I threw up in my mouth....a lot.

GravatarFor Bible-believing Christians, nothing in the entire world is more important than “walking” with Jesus; that is, engaging in a personal relationship with their savior and living according to his word. With this in mind, I recently asked Haggard, himself the pastor of a large church in Colorado, why the president, as a man of supposedly strong faith, did not publicly apologize for continually misleading Americans in the run-up to the Iraq War. Instead, Bush clung zealously to misinformation and half-truths. I asked Haggard why, as a man of Christian principle, Bush did not fully disavow Karl Rove’s despicable smear tactics and apologize for the ugly lies the Bush campaign spread over the years about Ann Richards, John McCain, and John Kerry, among others. After all, isn’t getting right with God -- whatever the political price --the most important thing for the sort of Christian Bush has proclaimed himself to be?

Haggard laughed as though my questions were the most naive he’d ever heard. “I think if you asked the president these questions once he’s out of office,” Haggard said, “he’d say, ‘You’re right. We shouldn’t have done it.’ But right now if he said something like that, well, the world would spin out of control!

“That’s why when Jimmy Carter ran, he [turned out to be] such a terrible president. Because when he [governed], he really tried to maintain [his integrity] and those types of values -- and that is virtually impossible.”
