Give it up Duncan. There ARE no Democrats. If there were, don't you think they'd be on the TeeVee? Well? Don't you?
Of course.
So obviously, since there is never more than One Democrat on the TeeVee on any given day, One is all they got. If that.
So don't worry your pretty little head about these things. "Democrats" were always an illusion anyway.
We now have Centrists and Moderates.

Moldea, who's been a target of Freepers since last year, when he surfaced as Larry Flynt's chief investigator of Republican sexcapades on Capitol Hill, relishes the political combat, but says: "These people are fanatical. They never admit they are wrong."
Moldea recently experienced a twist in a Freep practice that's gotten the site in trouble. He found an article about Clinton with his byline on it, headlined "The Mob President," posted at Free Republic. Since Moldea, an avid Clinton supporter, did not author the piece, he poked around on the Internet and found that the article had been lifted from another anti-Clinton tabloid and then falsely attributed to him at Free Republic.

plantsman,
I remember reading on some Gooper blog that Laura Bush was the most lady-like of our first ladies. Since I have been banned from commenting on that blog, I was not able to ask the blogger what exactly was meant by "most lady-like."
Does she shave her legs in a more lady-like way than, say, Hillary?, Did she raise her pinky finger whilst picking her nose more lady-like than, say Rosalyn? or Nancy? Does she delicately cover her mouth whilst belching and more, than, say, Jackie or Mamie did? Does she refrain from farting at state dinners more than say, Babs?
What, indeed, makes Pickles "more lady-like?"

Critics trace Free Republic's decline to last February, when the drive to impeach Clinton sputtered and Robinson and his followers began attacking Bush. Spring also marked the arrival at Freep's Fresno headquarters of one Connie Hair, a former Paramount Studios secretary and bit-role actress ("Death Wish 5") who found her political legs online at Free Republic.
Hair was soon anointed Freep's director of media relations and event planning. Her critics say she encouraged Robinson's desire to turn Free Republic from a mere Web site into a political organization.
"She turned it into a power position," said Giles. Expanding from Free Republic, Hair became a paid consultant to conservative Republican presidential candidate Alan Keyes as well as Larry Klayman, the Washington activist whose Judicial Watch has peppered the White House and its supporters with lawsuits.
The roots connect.

It's the hate mail and death threats sprinkled through the site, however, that some of Free Republic's former supporters believe demonstrate the decline of the site.
Samples about the Clintons: "Somehow, genital herpes just isn't enough for this duo ... 357 seems more on the mark (it may take a village to whack you, you sullen bitch!)
"Hey billzo, fondled any chicks on a rope line lately? Criss, have you noticed that these two assholes, the pres and his bitch, need about four layers of protection just to walk around in public? They know that everybody hates them, and wants them to be dead! Senator? yea-sure, c'mon, bitch, I got yer senator rite heayre! ..."
And this regarding gays: "I was once told that 50 grains injected behind the ear cures both AIDS and homosexuality," posted another Freeper with the screen name of D. Rider. "That's '50 grains' of lead."
"The FBI went around and rapped on his trailer," said Goldberg of one regular hate mailer. She doesn't take the rants seriously. "They were written in kind of a tough-guy vernacular, bully talk. That doesn't mean they're going to literally go kill [the Clintons]. But it was ugly stuff."
T.J. Walker, an online columnist who dug up a passel of ominous posts on the Clintons in the past few months (another sample: "People, we are going to have to go to Washington, and kill this horrible bastard ourselves!"), claimed that Free Republic's "political influence is rising even as death threats occur more frequently on its message boards." As evidence, he cited the upcoming "Treason is the Reason" rally that, in addition to featuring Barr and Hitchens, is also touting speeches by Rep. James Rogan, R-Calif., another failed House impeachment manager.
You'd be surprised the number of people one meets as a result of driving a Chinese Death Machine around town. It's getting to be rare that I pop in for any kind of shopping that I don't meet 1-2 new people, curious about the bike.

The Guardian reports:
More people in Britain think religion causes harm than believe it does good, according to a Guardian/ICM poll published today. It shows that an overwhelming majority see religion as a cause of division and tension - greatly outnumbering the smaller majority who also believe that it can be a force for good.
The poll also reveals that non-believers outnumber believers in Britain by almost two to one. It paints a picture of a sceptical nation with massive doubts about the effect religion has on society: 82% of those questioned say they see religion as a cause of division and tension between people. Only 16% disagree. The findings are at odds with attempts by some religious leaders to define the country as one made up of many faith communities.

Jon Meacham has shown once again he's a gasbag for the right, with as much relevancy as a broken coo coo clock, who picks up his paycheck from Carlyle Group. A weakminded punditry of right-wing demagoguery, his passion is only to comment on things he has no factual basis for but prefers to instead pseudo-analyze in a contrived, and serving speculation along with his junior high level sense of humor, which in turn reveals weakly his disappoinment in realizing that his is a non-significant and continually diminishing position of national flatuence. Certainly not by anyone's standard, a vital, or essential source of information, world events, or this country's trends and sentiments. Drug addict, and severely pathological liar, shock jock Rush Limbaugh has, at this point more credibility and honor. The math product value being less than zero.

ProfWombat | The local planter elite was quite good friends with Eleanor.
Originally they were titled the largest state land grant bordering the Mississppi, two counties up into Missouri as well.
Mrs. Roosevelt used to visit the Wilson often. Named a daughter in the family after one of the Astors... by marriage, I believe.
Many pics of Eleanor's visits to their region remain. One of FDR's regrets appears to have been ceding civil rights issues tot he blue dogs.
He was a realist, and the Mrs. saw to it women's rights were advanced, by degrees and precedent America was made better.
Gender equity matured into civil equity. Granted, both topics are still not where they should be.

I don't see it that way at all. I don't vote based on bullshit values, I vote based on what I perceive to be traits of the best candidate for the job, coupled with any and all ideas that will forward the progressive agenda. There is no shame in calling yourself either a liberal or a progressive...no shame at all. I don't want "values voters" dictating a progressive agenda, because by default, today's values voters are looking for a regressive, exclusive agenda. Anyone who hates woman having rights over their own bodies, teh gays and anyone else who differs from their own little world view is not who will vote for a progressive agenda, anyway.

Well, the Brits aren't aggressively secular in the constitutionally-dictated way the French are. It's just that Anglicanism is tea-with-vicar religion, and Catholicism is either working-class Irish/Italian or upper-class bells-and-smells, and Methodists make gingerbread.
Fundies are embarrassing to Brits.

Republicants will frame it as giving themselves (the "underdogs") a chance to speak... they won't say anything about the fact that the talk show imbalance existed before the Nov. elections...

Hello Jeffraham! The gaggle of 14 yr olds is still asleep after the bday party. I'm getting my few minutes online before feeding the thundering herd. Oh wait, that was Woody Herman.

accept Jeebus as your personal lord and savior or go straight to H-E-Double Hockey Sticks
I was brought up Catholic in a Christian Reformed neighborhood and that is exactly how it was presented to us. Week after week by towhead after towhead dutch kids.
Also, the passage in Romans about Jesus knocking at the door of your heart, and you better let him in or go straight to hell without passing go and collecting $ 200.

Also saw The Good Shepherd yesterday.
Generally left me cold as drama (or history, or politics) but the cast is great.
Who knew Alec Baldwin would turn out to be the most dependable and entertaining character actor around?

No sweat -- if you get a chance, great. If not, no problem. I'm re-arranging furniture and cleaning, today. Got to get ready for WebCamCatHouse.

I saw it at Media Matters, steve simels, but I'll be damned if I can find it again over there. It happened Wednesday.
Plus, it now seems that the judge in Libby's criminal trial read her the riot act for her appearance with Matthews.
Here's a bit:
MATTHEWS: The D.C. jury sitting in this case of Scooter Libby, if they were to learn that Joe Wilson had somehow put out the word that his wife was an undercover agent before Scooter Libby said anything to anyone, wouldn‘t that mitigate against his guilt?
MELANIE SLOAN, EXEC. DIR. OF CITIZENS FOR RESPONSIBILITY & ETHICS IN
WASHINGTON: No, because the issue is not anymore what Mr. Libby may have said regarding Mrs. Wilson. It is that he lied in court, that he lied to the grand jury, that he lied to the FBI, and that‘s what Mr. Libby is being charged with.
MATTHEWS: Do you think a jury would still find him guilty if it was clear that he was not the first to leak?
SLOAN: I think a jury could easily still find him guilty without being the first to leak, because that‘s not what he‘s being charged with. He is not charged with leaking, he is charged with making false statements.

Media coverage of the Obama campaign - "How many ways can we point out that he's, you know, brown, without getting called on it?"
I think Cynicus nailed it here.

true story: arnold stated in an interview that he and another body builder buddy decided, that to finance life at the time, they'd start a company to fix masonry, in particular, chimneys. he said while attempting to strike a deal with a potential client one would go up on the roof to inspect and intentionally push the chimney over. sounds a little nine elevenish to me when you consider the republican aspect of it

Matthews is such a git.
Sloane is exactly right...the trial is about things that happened long after the alledged leaks, and the reason that the defense wants to supoena Wilson is part of an obfuscation campaign. It's what these motherfuckers DO.
I can't imagine why Sloane was repremanded by anyone for stating what she stated.

For me it was "Glengarry Glen Ross," then "State and Main."
I know there are many Mamet-averse out there, but even so... it's hard to imagine more perfect performances in more disparate roles.
