Attaturk, thanks for posting that article below. The lesson seems to be if you supported Bush's damn war, even though you had misgivings, your career is in flight. If you didn't and wrote against it, you're in the background.
Still, I'd rather be right. The first four have lost all credibility.

“This week in Federal Way schools, it got a lot more inconvenient to show one of the top-grossing documentaries in U.S. history, the global-warming alert "An Inconvenient Truth."
After a parent who supports the teaching of creationism and opposes sex education complained about the film, the Federal Way School Board on Tuesday placed what it labeled a moratorium on showing the film. The movie consists largely of a computer presentation by former Vice President Al Gore recounting scientists' findings.
"Condoms don't belong in school, and neither does Al Gore. He's not a schoolteacher," said Frosty Hardison, a parent of seven who also said that he believes the Earth is 14,000 years old. "The information that's being presented is a very cockeyed view of what the truth is. ... The Bible says that in the end times everything will burn up, but that perspective isn't in the DVD…"

Cheney has successfully overloaded the executive with unimagined authority.
This worked as long as the republicans controlled Congress.
"Do you believe as Commander in Chief you have the authority to put the troops in there no matter what the Congress wants to do," 60 Minutes correspondent Scott Pelley asks Bush in the short clip uploaded to the CBS News web site Friday night.
"I think I've got, in this situation, I do, yeah," Bush said.
"Now I fully understand they will," Bush continued, "they could try to stop me from doing it, but, uh, I've made my decision and we're going forward."
Let the games commence. I guess the ball wouldthen shift into the congress' hands. What will they do with it?

You, sir, have become the president who cried wolf.
I think I remember that story. There was this kid named Peter who lived in a village in Russia or someplace. Anyway, he would yell "Wolf!" all the time, just to scare the shit out of the other villagers, even though there wasn't any wolf around.
One day, a wolf really did show up. Peter did his usual "Wolf!" cry, but nobody showed up to help, 'cause they thought he was joking. The wolf ended up eating Little Red Riding Hood or somebody like that, which didn't go over too good for Peter.

Impeaching Bushboy & Cheneychins, as much as they deserve that and being turned over to the Hague as war criminals, cannot easily be done by the Dems for a host of reasons.
First, it would have to start in the House with the blessing of Pelosi who would be seen to have a conflict of interest since she is next in line for the presidency if the two scumbags currently preceding her are removed.
Second, the Dems have been given an opportunity to show what they can do by the voters and if they pursue the two lying warmongers at the top of the executive branch, it will require an enormous expenditure of time and money and in the end the Dems will have little to show for their time in office.
Third, Bushboy and his Creep Veep seem to be doing a good job of continually hanging themselves with the public and taking the Gooper party down the political suicide rode with them. DEms figure to let them keep doing that.

Webb to Pace: General Pace, I wasn't going to say this, but I want to say something, just my own little interjection here on the reenlistment rates and why people serve. You know, I come from a family that's spent a lot of time in the military generationally and I think it's fair to say that in my experience, people rarely enlist for political reasons. Rarely serve for political reasons. They serve because they love their country, they serve because they have a family tradition, they serve for camaraderie, and so I don't agree with the characterization that proceeded me on that, in toto. There are people who are serving because of the political mission, but there are people who, perhaps even in spite of the political mission, are serving.

Write a letter to the P & C suggesting that the Ravenel Bridge be renamed officially as the "Cooper River Bridge". As an alternative to the Ravenel bridge name, praise Ravenel (say nothing negative) as a "law and Order Conservative" and suggest they name a prison after crazy cousin Arthur.
When it's rejected by the P & C send it to the City Paper with an added paragraph decrying censorship. If you want to put out a little fog about your "liberal" leanings put your best wingnut slant to the writing.

ah, here's the link (you know how you have to retrace your steps through the like 15 blogs you visited--sheesh. ) via poputonian at digby's place:
There is a decent chance that within the next month or two the New Mexico State Legislature will ask the U.S. House of Representatives to begin impeachment proceedings against President Bush and Vice President Cheney. And there is the definite possibility that a Congress Member from New Mexico will take up the matter when it gets to Washington. The Jefferson Manual, rules used by the U.S. House, allows for impeachment to be begun in this manner. It only takes one state legislature. No governor is needed. One Congress Member, from the same state or any other, is needed to essentially acknowledge receipt of the state's petition. Then impeachment begins.
Hey, I'll take hope wherever I can find it these days.

There's a race now to see which state can do it first, which state can redeem these United States in the eyes of the world. New Mexico is jumping into the contest in a big way, with a terrific leading sponsor of the bill, strong Democatic majorities in both houses, and a citizens' movement ready to hold its government to account.

In New Mexico, a leading light of that state's politics, State Senator Gerald Ortiz y Pino of Albuquerque, will be leading the way on impeachment. Derrick Z. Jackson is calling out the Republicans this morning, doubt they'll listen but...
That ought to be Bush's final mistake. In his own way, Vietnam-battered President Johnson truly took responsibility and declined to run for re election. In his own way, Watergate-battered President Nixon took responsibility and resigned. With so much death already on his hands, Bush should not be allowed to continue this aimless war.
The only responsible show of responsibility at this point is resignation. The Republicans need to start deciding who among them is like Ford, with the character and humility to restore the strength of the presidency.

I had a weird dream that featured Molly last night. I was stranded in the middle of nowhere and Molly drove up and threw shoes and $60 at me. Then she drove away.
Yes, this dream means that someone, somewhere is pregnant. You just do not know where.

Heh. Shoes.
I had another in a disturbing series of apocalyptic dreams, in which me, the teenagers and Mr. TJ are wandering through America trying to figure out how to get home to France--meanwhile there is no gas to be found, and people have gone all Mad Max around us.

The Chicago Tribune, for example, called for Bill Clinton's resignation in a September 15, 1998, editorial. One reason the Tribune gave was that Clinton's statements about the Monica Lewinsky matter would make it difficult to trust him in the future: "Who will know when he's telling the truth and when he's not, whether he's being sincere or play-acting, whether his word is his bond or just another artful dodge?"
Monica's a professor or something now. Stick that in your pipe and smoke it, Chicago Tribune.

What exactly differentiates President Turdbrain from King George III?
Certainly not the insanity factor....

The case for impeaching Cheney is crystal clear and steel-solid. In the absence of cutting him off at the knees, it should be done.

reading this makes me think back over the last 6 years...why does this statement not stick to a wingnut, but it does to a dem? the only answer is media ownership

Webb to Pace:
i am really liking him. webb brings a realworld viewpoint that with the exception of a couple other senators, is sorely lacking in the congress. his first act was introducing this:
Going unnoticed in the frenzy of Democrats assuming control of Capitol Hill and George W. Bush seeking to plunge the country deeper into the Iraq quagmire, Webb introduced the Post-9/11 Veterans Educational Assistance Act of 2007, legislation that will provide the newest Veterans with educational benefits like those received by men and women who served in the three decades following World War II.
"As a veteran who hails from a family with a long history of military service, I am proud to offer this bill as my first piece of legislation in the United States Senate," said Webb, in introducing his bill last week. "The G.I. bill program was designed to help veterans readjust to civilian life, avoid high levels of unemployment, and give veterans the opportunity to receive the education and training that they missed while bravely serving in the military."

As time goes by over the next two years and the Dems with subpoena uncover the vast number of crimes committed by the Bushboy/Cheneychins/Gooper Congress axis of evil, it will make Bushboy and the Goopers impotent but could set the stage for criminals proceedings once they are out of office!

'No one knows what cat will choose you until you go to see them all.
I saw Arthur's photo on the Home site - at 40lbs he was so thin. I went to see him after about a month, and sat down in the middle of their big fenced yard and just waited. He ran around me for a good 45 minutes before tagging me it - but I didn't move. After a little more he came over and looked me in the eye and consented to snuffle at me.
So, after a little more time, where I bought a house with a backyard and then gave back the house because it was built so badly, I went back to the Home and sprung him.
