This is going to get interesting. Perry, who was just reelected in 2006, used an executive order to bypass the Texas Legislature where the religious extremists were positioned to squash any public use of this vaccine.
Beginning in September 2008, girls entering the sixth grade — meaning, generally, girls ages 11 and 12 — will have to receive Gardasil, Merck & Co.'s new vaccine against strains of the human papillomavirus, or HPV.
Perry also directed state health authorities to make the vaccine available free to girls 9 to 18 who are uninsured or whose insurance does not cover vaccines. In addition, he ordered that Medicaid offer Gardasil to women ages 19 to 21."

Bush will speak to House of Representatives Democrats holding an annual weekend retreat at about 10 a.m. (1500 GMT). Afterward, at about 11:40 a.m. (1640 GMT), Bush, along with Pelosi and other House Democratic leaders, will answer reporters' questions.
Bush, a Republican, will be appearing at the Williamsburg retreat one month after Democrats took control of the House and Senate. With less than two years remaining in Bush's presidency, his policies, including his handling of the Iraq war, are being challenged by Democrats.
The unusual news conference comes as Republicans and Democrats have been stressing the need for more bipartisanship following years of tense relations between the two political parties."

I've gota say that I was damned disappointed in what Edwards said in his interview with Ezra Klein. I guess admitting you were wrong, but for the wrong reasons, isn't absolutely fatal, but right now we've got a choice among a lot of candidates, and I'm not going to support one who can't admit that he should have already known the intelligence was wrong and Bush was an idiot before he voted for AUMF, and that the real problem is that we didn't have any military or moral reason to invade Iraq in the first place.
I guess I can look forward to some bitter arguments with my brother, who loves Edwards.

This morning on CSPAN's show, Newsmakers, was Mr. LaZear Chairman of Presidential Council of Economic Advisers who claimed the Global Warming Report..... issued Friday .... was implemented and 90% funded by GW Bush.
The fact that LaZear's own statement that GW Bush ordained the funding and implemented this worldwide report on Global Warming will be ignored to provid impetus to the usual drooling jackals on the right, to find fault with the messenger while looking for excuses to ignore the content.
