I'MMA LET YOU FINISH

These idiots just can't understand that the war in Iraq isn't winnable.

"I'm not in any way concerned about saying this--that we will probably see significant progress in the next six months to a year."

Can we have a definition on "Progress" I am sure that we have a misunderstanding as to what he meant.

GravatarHave I mentioned putting signs on freeways yet?

http://freewayblogger.blogspot.com

GravatarSeriously?

GravatarThis thread is like the open highway. No passing required.

GravatarOops. Glenn Greenwald is moving over to Salon this week, so the Aman's new blogroll will will be out-of-date within days.

Gravatarjesus, I need a Momtini.

GravatarA lot of people will be going up to Ft. Lewis, WA for the court marshal trial of LT. Ehren Watada on Monday. Several busses will be departing from Portland, OR early that morning.

Gravatar...that we will probably see significant progress in the next six months to a year

They keep using that word. I don't think it means what they think it means.

GravatarIf Holy Joe and St. McCain say it, then who are we to question?

GravatarI was just wondering: what if Bush's escalation is really just putting logistical and other resources into Iraq to pave the way for our retreat?

GravatarMeanwhile, Bush likes people with low expectations (for obvious reasons).

U.S. President George Bush told the NHL champion Carolina Hurricanes Friday he likes to be "around people that keep expectations low."

Gravatarmy sound is temporarilly disconneted. did the shit really say 'democrat party' at the retreat?

http://www.talkingpointsmemo.com...ives/ 012270.php

GravatarSpeaking of "last honest man," David Brooks told me last night that Joe Biden was the "last interesting man in Washington." Utterly bizarre.

Gravatarjesus, I need a Momtini.

I could use a Momtini I'd Like to Fuck.

Strategically, that might actually be smart, so, no, that can't be why he's doing it.

GravatarThe surge is so gonna stop this.

GravatarU.S. President George Bush told the NHL champion Carolina Hurricanes Friday he likes to be "around people that keep expectations low."

Naw, he's just setting himself up to be portrayed as a victim of the soft bigotry of low expectations.

GravatarHell no,
Lt. Ehren Watada will not go back.

They're milfalicious!

GravatarI was just wondering: what if Bush's escalation is really just putting logistical and other resources into Iraq to pave the way for our retreat?

I asked myself the same question, then I saw the chimp on TV and put that thought right out of my head.

GravatarDavid Brooks told me last night that Joe Biden was the "last interesting man in Washington."

He meant "least interesting"...

GravatarAnd these are the very serious people, the kinds of people that we're supposed to take sage advice from about what to do in the world.

Well, there's always the Right Blogosphere there to guide us. Chuck Johnson has recently perfectly encapsulated the wingnut ethic:

"Fake But Accurate".

GravatarI usually give my martinis to my kids, which quiets them down a little.

GravatarBush has already lost what he thought he would achieve. Unless he pulls out a metaphysical horror chomping on the bowels of the earth as the target of his insanity, no success will wipe out History's opinion of him.

I find that Biden is very well-spoken.

And clean.

And he has "good hair."

Gravatarand it's cheaper than all that damn Tylenol

GravatarI expect that the escalation is in order to have troops in place to invade Iran, No?

Are you suggesting that Dear Leader can't even get unintended consequences right?

Gravatarno success will wipe out History's opinion of him.

GravatarI expect that the escalation is in order to have troops in place to invade Iran, No?

probably more likely than the other scenario

GravatarGah. What a clusterfuck. I wonder how even the boyking can sleep at night knowing that he's responsible for this. I sure as hell can't and my responsibility is a lot less than his.

GravatarWhile we were out, we saw a truck with *Defenders of Freedom* written in big letters on the back. The truck turned off, allowing us to see what was written on the side. It was a National Guard advertising vehicle.

Good luck, buddy.

Hecate = Sensitive, intelligent human being.

Bush = Complete sociopath.

Gravatarso that's what MILF stands for? momtini's all around.

PS: stop the fucking war. now.

via TPM, from The Atalntic, James Fallows on the line in the sand Congress better draw.

GravatarAre you suggesting that Dear Leader can't even get unintended consequences right?

Well, if the past is prolouge . . . .

GravatarHecate, you are a human being. George...notsomuch

Gravatar I wonder how even the boyking can sleep at night knowing that he's responsible for this. I sure as hell can't and my responsibility is a lot less than his.

It's mah legacy.

GravatarThers--Did Molly relay to you the Yeats-dissing quotes I mentioned earlier?

GravatarMah legacy is on the line.

Gravatarwould you like that in a glass, rorschach?

GravatarIn the meantime, gore, Kucinich, Feingold, Clark and others are batting closer to 1.000 but know one pays attention.

GravatarI expect that the escalation is in order to have troops in place to invade Iran, No?

No. There's no fucking way even in Bush's deluded brain that would make any sense. He thinks he can bluff and/or bomb the Iranians.

Heh. Yeah, make it a bourbon and coke, and hold the coke.

GravatarThese idiots just can't understand that the war in Iraq isn't winnable.
Terry C,

McCain has to know that. This is all political and that makes it that much worse. People are dying right this minute so that McCain can look like a decisive and independent Repug running for prez.

Fuck McCain - he has to know. They all have to know by now that there is no such thing as winning.

It's all politics.

GravatarAt some point, you may find yourself forced to deal with the press. It's best to be prepared.

Gravatar"It won't keep Google from trying...
George Johnston"

They are going to have to work on this one a bit too.

mike in pr

Now, now, there's a perfectly good reason for that:

our press cannot walk and chew gum at the same time.

GravatarI expect that the escalation is in order to have troops in place to invade Iran, No?

The escalation is just to buy six months so that in six months Bush can buy another six months, and thus leapfrog his way to retirement so he can blame his successor for screwing up in Iraq.

GravatarFuck McCain - he has to know. They all have to know by now that there is no such thing as winning.

It's all politics.
Tena | Homepage | 02.03.07 - 1:12 pm | #

So you're saying that we shouldn't try to put together a two-party ticket with a Democrat and McCain in '08?

Gravatar"I expect that the escalation is in order to have troops in place to invade Iran, No?"

I expect the Iran will invade Iraq after we bomb Iran.

GravatarFuck McCain - he has to know. They all have to know by now that there is no such thing as winning.

It's all politics.

There's something wrong with that man. He must think that just because he was a guest of the Hanoi Hilton, everyone else over there doesn't have it so bad.

Gravatarand Halfdan has the most likely scenario

Gravatarhe escalation is just to buy six months so that in six months Bush can buy another six months, and thus leapfrog his way to retirement so he can blame his successor for screwing up in Iraq.
Halfdan

What I am furious about is that all the contenders seem to be saying the same thing: I, the new Democratic president, will stop this in '09.

Fuck every one of you - the public is demanding that you end this shit NOW, not in '09.

GravatarEvery sane Atriot of good conscience, it must be mentioned, will immediately e-mail Atrios demanding that No Capital be added to his blogroll.

GravatarSpeaking of momtinis, did anyone bother to mention that we have this neat little system with cars and drivers just sitting around all day idling just on the off chance that someone might need a ride to the hospital?

GravatarYou want to see a bloodbath? You will.
pie | Homepage | 02.03.07 - 1:13 pm | #

Most certainly not. I have a 21 year old daughter and an 18 YO son. But I don't agree with NTodd...I do believe that Bush is deluded enough to see a ground war in Iran as "winnable". Just because he thinks it is, it will be. He is a victim of the worst kind of magical thinking.

Gravatar
If you don't do it, then the terrorists will have won.

barking up the wrong tree, ain't ya? Ain't you heard we's all terrorist sympathizers?

GravatarBlair weathers cash-for-honours storm - for now

Supporters say early departure would be admission of guilt

Tony Blair is telling colleagues it would be more damaging to the Labour party for him to resign now - which would be taken as an unfair admission of guilt - than to stay on as leader until June or July.

"You will have to put up with me for a bit longer," he told the BBC yesterday in an attempt to draw a line under speculation that he might be forced out of office because of pressure building over the cash for honours affair. He argues that doing so would further weaken the party before the local election in May.

The prime minister had hoped to use his first appearance on Radio 4's Today programme since 2005 to show he was still pursuing a vigorous agenda at home and abroad. But after his wide-ranging interview with John Humphrys, some backbenchers were calling for a delegation of senior figures to go to Mr Blair and tell him he has to go in the interests of the party.

GravatarWhat I am furious about is that all the contenders seem to be saying the same thing: I, the new Democratic president, will stop this in '09.

what I am furious about is two of the leading Democratic contenders are waving the same saber Bush is. Digby seesm to be pissed off in the same way, but she's a hell of a lot more articluate than I am.

GravatarIf you don't do it, then the terrorists will have won.

I'm going to put a LightBrite on his deck, flipping him the bird.

GravatarDude. My joke just done got me stomped down big time!

GravatarI CAN NOT STAND THIS

GravatarBlair weathers cash-for-honours storm - for now

I've said it a bunch of times before, but I still do not understand how Blair has hung on like this.

How do these people avoid being fired?

Ick. Gag. Hillary is the most pusillanimous of candidates.

GravatarAfternoon, all.

Well, the news just keeps getting more appalling, doesn't it?

GravatarI want the whole bunch of them impeached and the hang up is not the House - it's the goddamned Senate.

I have just about had it with senators, no matter what flavor.

GravatarOT: Murdoch the munificent: media tycoon gives his six children $100m each

· Billionaire supervises equal handout of shares
· Gifts are normal financial planning, says News Corp

The billionaire media magnate Rupert Murdoch has displayed an unexpected burst of paternal generosity by sharing a taste of his wealth with his six children through a family handout of $600m (£305m) of shares in his global News Corporation empire.

Documents lodged with American financial regulators revealed last night that Mr Murdoch has given $100m worth of shares to each of his offspring - although he has made sure that none of them can meddle in the business by distributing stock with no voting rights.

GravatarI see dear leader as suffering a fate similar to jesse james ... (unconvicted ... but unforgiven) and some kid layin' into him in a bar near the border where he used to sit in a car in the parking lot and give his buddy bath tug jobs outside the hacienda

GravatarInto the void

Margaret Thatcher became obsessed with dusting and cleaning. Harold Wilson found himself without friends. What is it like to be a former prime minister, stripped of power - a 'workless workaholic'? As Tony Blair prepares to stand down, John Harris speaks to the people who know

Gravatar"bath tug jobs"?

GravatarI've said it a bunch of times before, but I still do not understand how Blair has hung on like this.

Me either. I figured he'd be gone by now. But it appears Bush is keeping Blair in power and to a lesser agree, vice versa.

GravatarAfternoon, all.

Well, the news just keeps getting more appalling, doesn't it?
steve simels

Yes and no, steve. For example, Gov. Goodhair has mandated that all the young girls in Texas be vaccinated with the HPV vaccine.

That ain't bad news at all.

GravatarBTW -- asked this before, but --

Did Olbermann do something extra special to piss off the wingnuts yesterday?

Caught the tale end of Mark Levin ranting about Keith on Friday...didn't hear what specifically set him off.

GravatarYes and no, steve. For example, Gov. Goodhair has mandated that all the young girls in Texas be vaccinated with the HPV vaccine.

My heart is weeping!

Gravatarone of the reasons Blair has stayed in power for so long is there are no fixed terms.

also the highly centralised nature of British politics.

add to the fact the opposition i.e. the Tories were very week and the Lib Dems slipped back into obscurity after they got rid of Charles Kennedy as leader.

also Blair is forceful and had the advantage for a very long time a huge majority in Parliament for many years, this combined meant he could see off opposition and push through what he wanted.

GravatarHillary says she'll end this war if she can, but it is hard to know how to "end" such a thing. I have a motto suggestion for her campaign:
