The silver maple is starting to bud, and I think the forsythias should be about in bloom. While they'll be temp swings here in SW for about 6 weeks, hard winter is over.

We're flirting with the 50's this weekend. And the foot of snow that we got last week is mellllltiiiiing.
And the fresh flowers that I just bought make me want spring even more!

Reposted from the former thread regarding MAnn Coulter:
I guess what I don't get is why is she now offensive?
Because we've finally reached the tipping point and so many Americans have seen the corrupt and vicious ideology she supports for what it is. Logic tells us that tipping points are anything over 50%, but in politics, probably because so many people opt out of active participation for a number of reasons, I'd say the tipping point is really around 70% and we are finally there.

I feel like we've had too much cold this year (although I'm a real cold wuss), and it seems to be over -- 70s during the day and 50s at night.
But I'm not putting my thermals away just yet.

We had 65 degrees in January. Then, four or five weeks of teens and 20s. Too drastic to get use to.
Now it's back up in the 60s. Buttercups are blooming and there's a hint of green on the trees. I likes it very much.

I love the way Fruitless pear trees and their white blooms look in the spring. Along with all the fresh, bright green budding leaves.
Too bad I had a meltdown yesterday from all the pills I'm taking.
Thankfully, the doctor had me stop taking all of them, and prescribed some anti-psychotic pills.

We have entered the part of the year where Austin, for a short month, will be the most beautiful place on the planet. I pity the rest of you who will not be able to enjoy Barton Springs, see the bats return and live in a city covered with wild flowers.
I guess I agree with that, but I also think that her and Limbaugh and O'Reilly really don't believe anything that they say.
Yes, but the question was, with all the stupid and mean things she's said in the past which went by with not repercussions, does her calling Edwards a faggot now have consequences. My point being that now the papers who published her realize that so many of their readers aren't amused that they are finally calling her on it. So many people are just so damn sick of the rightwing cheerlead and smear squad and won't put up with it anymore.

atrios did not write that. The New York Times editorial board did. They insist on writing editorials on the first crocus of spring and the tangy scent of mustard from a hot dog vendor.
The NYT is trying to take over the Baby Blue Blog.

I dunno. Maybe.
When she advocating backing a truck bomb into the NYT's building, did that?
What really amazes me is that, at anytime, I could go downtown and hear a certifiably insane person spout off the same nonsense that she does. But I tend to ignore it, for the most part.
And I'll just continue to ignore her, too.

Because the wind is now blowing out of a different direction and people can tell the difference between a hawk and a handsaw.
Just be grateful it's finally happening. Gloat more, fret less.
Snow is history here in the South. Been pretty Spring like in Atlanta for the last week. Had the roof down on the bug for most days. But I'd really like to see even a flurry sometime. Global what?...

AMEN and goodbye to this horrible winter--freezing cold, lots of snow and ice, plus bronchitis that made its way through the family. But here in Central Missouri today it is gloriously sunny and mild. Great clean-out-the-garage weather (yeah, not too romantic but I've been wanting to do it for months). We'll barbecue tonight and then settle in for some Big 12 Basketball action. Not too bad a day if I don't think about George Bush, Iraq, etc.

Crocus and daffodils blooming everywhere, even the rhododendron are going wild. Having come from Chicago, where the minute anything blooms the icestorms move in to carpet-bomb the place with frost, it's an improvement.

Philadelphia is now being referred to as the 6th borough. I remember it sucked back in the 80s, though. We were taken to a really creepy disco there called the Black Bananna, but enjoyed the cheesesteaks at Jim's on the way home.
And the Museum is good.

Just to make this clear. The Santa Claus that got booed was some drunk guy from the stands in a santa suit that they pulled onto the field after the other Santa, the one they actually hired, couldn't make it to the game due to traffic or something. They booed him 'cause he was obviously wasted.
Also, this did not happen at the vet, but at Franklin Field.
Here endeth the lesson. And yeah, Rittenhouse was lovely today, wasn't it?

More seriously, the Santa Claus thing is a great example of how the swift boating memes never die. Its always been deeply inaccurate, and that does nothing to stop it from getting repeated. In fact, I think its Fox Sports that's had such a good time referencing that nearly ever time they do a broadcast here. Humm...

Oh and, the only people who refer to Philly as the sixth bourogh are a bunch of morons at the NYT.
Those of us who live here see the whole colonization of fishtown as nothing more than a new stage in the process of New York buying Philly and driving rents through the roof. They'll pay 300k for a shell in a neighborhood that's still falling apart / crime and drug riddled and the net effect is that a lot of the artists and intellectuals who used to be able to live affordably in decent, or at least reasonably safe neighborhoods in this city are now being priced out entirely. Is this making this place more vibrant or interesting. No. In fact, its slowly strangling the cultural rennaissance that has been going on under the radar for more than a decade. Sort of like what already happened in Manhattan and Brooklyn.
Another reason for Philly to hate New York.

Sounds like a lovely day in the beautiful city of Philadelphia.
Too bad it's populated by the most consistently provincial, boring and passive-aggressive humans I've ever encountered (I was stuck there for 4 years). I still get sick just to think of that hellhole.
And yes, I've lived other places and generally play well with others...
