The same "Harry is to blame" crap was spouted by that consummate fool David Brooks on Lehrer last night. He even said that the partisan divide has never been so bitter, to which I can only say that he ought to have short-term memory checked, since the Frist/McConnell Nuclear Option didn't exactly seem like one of the Senate's great moments.
As usually happens when I make the mistake of reading or listening to Brooks I am amazed that the New York Times not only sees fit to publish his worthless opinions, but presumably even pays him rather well to come up with them. It is a wonderment.

When I was a wee Toonscribe, some of my favorite viewing was cheesy black-and-white giant creature movies on tv. Some of my faves were:
Reptilicus
Godzilla (original, not so much the sequels)
Brings back fond memories.

I LOVE those Japanese monster movies...Godzilla, Mothra, etc.
Bad special effect, cheesy dubbing and all.
I bought the original "Gojira" (the original Godzilla with Raymond Burr and dubbing) from ebay - I just haven't had a chance to watch it yet.

Hey Terry C -
I just got a hold of Godzilla 2004 and Godzilla:Final Wars...while the original (w/o Burr) is the most powerful in terms of message (and yes, the American version completely farks up the original anti-nuke moral), these are AWESOME in terms of Big-G-stomping-Japan action!

Those who would actually cast their precious vote for the likes of Tom Delay need more therapeutic help than Chimpy's admin is willing to finance.
Just this week, that asshole let it be known to Congress that he would veto a measure easily passed by both chambers that would just keep up with the cost of living of an existing federal program that provides medical care to impoverished US children.

Dems wield war debate to weaken GOP in 2008
Edward Epstein, San Francisco Chronicle, 07/19/07

Democrats' Iraq war debate going all night before vote - GOP scoffs at quixotic effort to pass bill that would force Bush to withdraw troops by April
Edward Epstein, San Francisco Chronicle, 07/18/07
Sen. Harry Reid invited all his fellow senators to a deadly serious slumber party Tuesday night. Instead of games, a movie or pizza -- junk food the Democratic Senate majority leader from Nevada doesn't much care for -- the agenda was sober: legislation to...
GOP still stand by Bush, blocking war plan

Republican congressional support for President Bush's Iraq war policy may be splintering, but enough GOP senators remained united with the president today to sidetrack legislation that would have made it harder to return military units to the war zone...

I cannot believe Hiatt has a job, and I can't believe how far the WaPo has fallen since its glory days. How long do you think it will be before the reporters and columnists of the WaPo revolt and end up having Hiatt replaced with an editor of some talent and intelligence?
