Did Obama clarify he is willing to talk with States and not terrorist groups? Did Obama outline this administration's history of cutting off complete communication with States it must deal with, especially in light of how its immoral war has blown back on those States? I don't think he made that clear and while the counterpunch was nice it still appeared defensive and not the knockout it should have been.

Obama, Hillary, McCain, does it really matter? Unfortunately it took segregationist Governor Wallace to reveal the truth that "there's not a dime's worth of difference between" Republicans and Democrats. The Democrats willingly went along with the War in Iraq, suspension of Habeas Corpus, detaining protesters, banning books like America Deceived (book) from Amazon, stealing private lands (Kelo decision), warrant-less wiretapping and refusing to investigate 9/11 properly. They are both guilty of treason.

Given that GOP policies only truly benefit the top 1% of income earners at the expense of everyone else, I think that their designs for a "permanent" majority was doomed to fail. The smoke and mirrors had to give way to economic reality sooner or later.

Just a factual correction: Lots of feminists have been in Obama's camp from the beginning. Katha Pollitt, Eve Ensler, Barbara Ehrenreich, to mention just a few. Indeed, the most famous movement feminists have been roughly equally divided between Clinton and Obama.

So there's this Marine just sent over to Iraq. Turns out there's this old ramshackle building in the corner of the base that all the other Marines call the Love Shack.
The Sgt. tells the new Marine that within the Love Shack is the key to any sexual satisfaction he so desires.
One day the new Marine is so horny that he can't wait any longer to see what's in the Love Shack. He opens the door and to his surprise sees a camel. He looks around, shrugs, pulls over the stool used to mount the camel, pulls down his pants, and begins to pleasure himself at the camel's expense.
Just at that very moment, the Sgt Marine opens the door and catches the private in the act. The private begs for the Sgt's forgiveness pleading, "I'm sorry Sir, but I was so horny, I just couldn't wait for permission."
The Sgt replied, "Well Private, this is definitely out-of-the-ordinary. Maybe I wasn't clear. We only use the camel to ride into town to the local brothel."

I know this isn't likely to make me popular with some folks, but I have a problem with Killfile. Seems to me that it's a bit too easy. I used to go to a church where you could be wrapped up in caring and love on Sunday morning, but they'd never go out into the neighborhood to engage in actually helping people. It might be too dangerous, since the church was near the "black" part of town, you know, and the poor tended to be unwashed and therefore whiffy.
Not that there weren't dangerous people out there, but that church wouldn't talk to the whiffy people either. Better to stay safe in the cocoon...

The reason I dislike the discussion of deluded Hillary supporters as feminists is that feminists have done extremely hard and valuable work (the vote, for instance), work which they have never been rewarded for, work for which they have been ridiculed and belittled, except perhaps after death.

They just about used it all up by coming here and telling the activists who have been toiling in the wilderness all this time, that we're "not smart" and "making the wrong choice" and "sexist."

True enough, but usually the conversation here goes something like, "how could you not have supported Hillary? you must not really be a good feminist..."
so they're the ones tying feminism to support for Hillary.
It's not the issue for me. I picked the candidate that I think will be the best president. Doesn't mean I've abandoned women's rights.

the bitterness and divisiveness on both sides is a harmful incubus that we need to kill and bury before the rove-a-tron gets fully geared up
Fuck that shit. The brownshirts are gonna be going down to a massive defeat in November.
The bitching and moaning (of which I include myself) is being done by about 1% of the voting population - the same amount that pays attention to cable news.
Average voters don't really care which Dem is the nominee. They like them both equally, mainly because neither one's a Republican.
Polly, I'm too fuzzy and need to pack it in. Killfile blocks the poster only from the view of the persons with it installed on their machines. You'll see people getting upset because other people respond to the trolls and quote them, thus going around the whole Killfile intention of not having to read the drivel in the first place (or of having to bother their beautiful minds, if you're being snarky). Mostly, the deeply disturbed, like Lubby and Toby, don't say anything worth reading, but people are sometimes quick to brand a mis-statement or a difference of opinion on a given point as troll talk.

Now, if ya want a good joke:
Little Johnny comes home from school, and finds no one downstairs at home. After a minute or two, he hears a noise from upstairs, and goes to investigate.
There he finds Dad and Mom, she's bent over the foot board and Dad is going at it.
Johnny's jaw drops to the floor and he gasps. Dad sees Johnny, and gives him a wink.
After a few minutes, Dad thinks that probably wasn't the best response, and goes to talk to Johnny.
He finds Johnny in his bedroom, with Granny bent over the footboard and Johnny is going at her.
Dad's jaw drops to the floor, Johnny winks and says, "Kinda different when it's your mom, isn't it?"

Feminist backlash?
WTF are you talking about?
Not sure, but usually the term refers to the way the fundies and wingnuts were woken up after the second wave of feminism, and they have been chipping away at the gains of that era ever since.
Each increase in the rights of women or an enlargement in the acceptable sphere for women has historically been followed by a backlash. Two steps forwards, one step back kind of thing.

She's also the darling of the establishment, so that gives her a credibility she doesn't deserve. My point about Backlash, is that it seems that women have been made to feel ashamed about supporting Hillary. Like it's so cliche, or dated. i tend to think trolls and suchlike are derogated versions of small gods like the romans had like the lares and penates
the romans had small altars set up at the heath and field to offer up tiny sacrifices to appease these little itty-bitty gods, who could play nasty tricks just like trolls if they weren't happy
of course in all folk belief systems there are nasty beings who are just nasty
now say you prayers and get into bed when mommy says so or karl rove will say nasty lies in your dreams

i tend to think trolls and suchlike are derogated versions of small gods like the romans had like the lares and penates
the romans had small altars set up at the heath and field to offer up tiny sacrifices to appease these little itty-bitty gods, who could play nasty tricks just like trolls if they weren't happy
I think the Scandinavian trolls are a mixture. There are also house fairies and you are supposed to leave milk for them. They will then clean your house for you. I tested it as a child and it didn't work.

But I don't think the original trolls were necessarily angry, unless provoked. You could provoke them by sitting on them (thinking they were boulders), for instance.

that sounds right. they could even be nice to you, if you didn't automatically treat strange looking people rudely
even here in the folk-tradition-deprived united states, in the depths of cultural aridity in the 50s, little children were taught just such ancient european tales about trolls
and he just outted himself as a repuke. again.

yes, it wasn't just weird, it was massively creepy. I had to clean up the mess and in some odd way, I felt responsible for it all. The mother is kind of "broken" and perhaps I should have tried to take them and nurse them, but it was all too much at the time.

I was a beta tester on it, it's much better now.
It does demand a pretty good bandwidth to keep a program flowing.
And content seems to be unavailable at times.
But still, if you're in bumfuck, and you need a US TV fix, not a bad choice.

They are just nutzoid here.
The suburbs of Wilmington Ohio, if you can call em that, are cut up farms.
3 years ago, they were farms, not they are Ranchettes, all 3 to 10 acres, and every one has a bigger flag than his neighbor. Or bigger riding mower, whatever flips their penis.
And good Xtians that they are, nothing, I mean nothing happens after Noon on Saturday, cause God and Sunday may be in a different time zone, and they don't want to offend.
I'm sure Bishop Wright and his two very clever sons would have approved in some sense. I don't think so in todays world, this place is just stuck in time.
