Presumably if you prosecute anyone who is designated of being an "enemy combatant" by the Bushboy regime, your promotion is assured.

Not content with wrecking the US Justice department, Bushboy is moving on to the JAG and anything else he can corrupt.

I like the way you think, youngster.

GravatarIt was pointed out earlier but it's worth a repeat that while America has become a Banana Republic with fascists like Bushboy and Cheneychins in constant violation of domestic and international laws, South America is moving more toward democratic societies.

But if Chile and Argentina and Peru could dump fascist leaders and move on, so can we!

Gravataryeah, i'm sure that parsing words parsed by others parsing the press regarding certain people trying to get elected is important and all...but so is this.

Maybe one of you people with inside connections could step up and actually get this story into a newspaper. Or would that be too much like work?

GravatarOT: European politicians are doing their best to spin the shoddy "compromise" (for which read capitulation) agreement at Bali as a great global step forward and a victory for common sense. The supine BBC (Brown Broadcasting Corporation?) plays ball by presenting the US "U turn" on what was needed from developing countries as the main story. This is presented as the pay-off for kicking any binding targets for the US itself at least two years into the future (presumably in the faint hope of awaiting the election of an administration more amenable to actually doing anything that begins to have an impact on the massive problem)
So now we have another two years of negotiation leading up to the UN Climate Conference of 2009 in Denmark, when all the best scientific opinion tells us drastic action is needed now. This is a significant victory for the ruling class of the US and its Canadian and Japanese partners in crime.

Of course, moves to halt deforestation, and to transfer cleaner and renewable technologies to developing countries are very welcome and desperately needed, but within significant action by the big emitters in the short term these moves are not enough.

GravatarTeh literal day after the 2004 Prez election, all pundits agreed the only only only possible Democratic candidate was Hillary Clinton.

Thing is, i left out a word. It should say "All Republican pundits agreed the only only only possible Democratic candidate was Hillary Clinton."

The whole play has been scripted out for years. The MSM goal right now is to get Hillary the nomination, but to install enough public disapproval to forestall the election - or at least to make it easier to blame the next few years worth of chickens come home to roost on HRC, and Democrats by association.

They decided in 2004 she was the best Republian choice for Democratic candidate, and that has not changed.

GAIL COLLINS

Barack’s Blast From the Past

The real question is whether Barack Obama has worked out
a way to explain his drug use during his adolescent days to
the more conservative voters he’d be wooing next fall.

GravatarMedia coverage of Clinton and her campaign has been strikingly negative since the Philadelphia debate.

Wasn't that to be expected from the outset?

GravatarReposted cuz it's for the children:

Hey fellow Democrats I have found some great books for children that will teach them are shared Democratic principles:

Donald has six HIV + Daddies - A new twist on an old classic, this book introduces 4 yr olds to gay polygamous HIV marriage

Alberta has fun in the Abortion clinic - Shows the joy of an abortionist career path to kids with neat vacuum suction sounds!

My Mommy was a bad person -
Little Maddie's mom was a bond trader that died during 9/11, a helpful Public School teacher and Union activist shows Maddie that her mom practiced evil rapacious Capitalism which is why she died. Very touching at the end when Maddie finally takes off the diaper to defecate on a AmeriKKKan flag.

Gravatar"I recommend quoting George W. Bush on his days of partying."

youthful indescretions.

GravatarOT, for Doctor Who fans - Catherine Tate has suggested that the next series of Doctor Who could be the last for actor David Tennant.

The comedian, speaking on Radio 2's Jonathan Ross programme, said: "I think it's maybe David's last series."

The BBC refused to comment on Mr Tennant's future as the show's star.

Tate, who first appeared in the 2006 Christmas special, is to return as the doctor's assistant, Donna, for the entire run of the fourth series.

She will also be joined for several episodes by the doctor's former companion Martha Jones, played by Freema Agyeman.

When pressed on whether Tennant would return to play the timelord in special Dr Who shows in future, Tate replied: "Possibly."

The obvious explanation is:
The press is so completely in the bag for the Republicans that after 8 years of ignoring George Bush's drug use, drunkeness, and other criminal behavior, they want to invent things about me. We can play this game if the press insists, but it will involve bringing up the pasts of many political characters, many reporters, and their editors. I wonder if we can start with Bill Keller testifying under oath about any possible use of chemicals during the events that lead up to him dumping his wife for the pregnant groupie girlfriend? Any thoughts Mr. Nagourney?"

GravatarI think there is a correlary to "white guilt" in my feelings about Hilary. I personally don't like her political position and have come to feel that John Edwards is a better choice (especially if he quits doing those "Crossing Over" shows and books ), but I feel perpetually guilty about opposing Clinton because she (they) have gotten such a royal screwing by the Rightwing spnsored American media. It's almost like feeling guilty for thinking Michael Vick deserves some jail time.

GravatarI recommend quoting George W. Bush on his days of partying.

GravatarA scanner built for a hospital in Norfolk ended up 10,000 miles away in Australia after a medical mix-up.

Technicians installing equipment at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) in King's Lynn, found it was not quite what the doctor ordered.

They found a CT scanner built for the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Adelaide was sent to the Fens, while a scanner ordered by the QEH had gone down under.

The machines have now been dismantled to be shipped to their correct homes.

"There's probably a shipping clerk sitting in an office very miserable," QEH spokesman Richard Humphries said.

The mistake over the £500,000 scanner, built for the QEH's new £3m radiology suite, was made by Dutch medical supplier Philips.

GravatarObama's "youthful indiscretions" with drugs are barely newsworthy but Huckabee's "isolation of HIV infected people" and his recommendation that all women be "servants of their husbands," goes a lot deeper into the thinking of each man.

I trust that Obama is not now using drugs. I don't trust that Huckabee is no longer a homophobe or a misogynist.

Gravatarowls!!!!!!!!

GravatarDemocratic Dad, you forgot a few:

Morals for Children by Ted Haggard: How to rip off rubes by talking about Jebuz while doing meth with your hooker boyfriend.

Culture of Life: George runs on a slogan that only he and Dick know really means increasing abortions during their term and killing brown people.

Hating the Gays, I Mean Immigrants, I Mean Non-Xians, I Mean Somebody, Anybody. The Sequel to culture of Life

Is Huckabee a Promise Keeper?

GravatarHuckabee is also very fond of money. He paid for personal expenses from his campaign funds when he was governor of Arkansas and unbelievably, I understand he took furniture from the governor's mansion that had been donated while he was governor as though it was his!

Aside from homophobic and misogynistic, he's a fucking kleptomaniac!

GravatarHey Democratic Dad, you forgot the dark horse for children's book of the season:

The Republican and his 8 Year Old 'Secret Friend'. The story of a typical small town political operative who has a "special' young friend who plays "find the little whistle" beneath his multiple stomach folds for hours and hours for him.

GravatarMethinks Rudy is done. You can stick a fork in him.

Mittster will spend millions more of his fortune to satiate his ego, but in the end his beady rat-eyes and Mormonism will do him in.

Huckabee could do a "Bushboy" and just deny his way to the nomination, but he's really a cheap suit that won't wear well.

GravatarDamn straight, Jamison.

BTW, back when Hillary was getting the MCM's "inevitability" treatment, I was pretty astonished at how gung-ho the MCMers were about this. It was so early, there was so much time before one single vote, etc. I know some commented on the blogs mentioned that kind of thing.

But, for whatever reason--and I tend to think the MCM reasons are nefarious when it comes to Dems--the MCMers were going mad about Hillary being "inevitable."

It was such a strong meme that SNL did not one, but two skits (more?) about her inevitbability. And they were not all that nice. Especially the "witch" skit with Obama.

So I figured the MCM was setting her up for a kickin' down. And, lo! An answer which was perfectly rational about the governor of NY's plan to offer a special, limited driver's license to undocumented immigrants, was construed as a "disaster."

Since I was sitting there agreeing with her when she gave the answer, I was pretty PO'd that my thinking was also dissed by Timmeh and the Pod People.

Once again, the MCM has decided to choose our presidential nominees, and then will work to choose the president. Goddess help us.

MCM--Mainstream Corporate Media; MCMers, members of MCM

Gravatarrootless-e above: Dems take on the MCM at their peril.
