Funny thing is, middle sister was quite considerate when she was younger. Now, well not a bit.

Does her family's laundry at our older sisters's house, but doesn't offer to do everyone else's laundry, that sort of thing.

Drives to Chicago, and right by where our parent's ashes are scattered, doesn't stop, that sort of thing.

NYT should save their money and just hire a urchin of the street, still won't be accurate, but will be much cheaper.

GravatarThis Michael Vick thing is starting to sound very familiar. The gov handing out a free pass to someone who dies not deserve it, and the normally aggressive sports press seems to be making the case that Vick should be allowed back into the game after he serves his slap on the wrist time.

I barely got done with yesterday's arrested Florida Republican, and we got another one today!

Former Orlando state Rep. Sheri McInvale's attempts to be reimbursed for a printing bill led to her arrest Thursday on charges of illegally recouping more than $7,500 in taxpayer money.

A sealed indictment made public charged McInvale and her former legislative aide, Robert Franklin Stuart Jr., with several official-misconduct charges, along with grand theft, cheating and falsifying records. They are accused of using state funds to pay a "private debt" in 2005 and 2006 while McInvale was still in the Legislature.

GravatarThis Michael Vick thing is starting to sound very familiar.

Last report I heard, he's actually considering a plea requiring a year in jail and a huge fine.

Least presidential president ever, hands down.

GravatarHis primary hesitation is the impact on his NFL career, which puzzled me. That thing is dead, whether it goes to trial or not.

Vick will probably plead, and take his year in prison followed by probation. I predict he will play next year. He's too talented for every team to pass on him if Atlanta lets him go. And the NFL is not going to give more than a year suspension to an athlete for anything short of murder.

Even though Alaska has very few electoral votes, [Alaska Gov.] Sarah Palin [(R)] would be an absolutely devastating addition to the GOP ticket – particularly if the Democrats nominate Hillary.

[...]

[Fred] Barnes described her as "a politician of eye-popping integrity ... now the most popular governor in America with an approval rating in the 90s, and probably the most popular public official in any state."

(And, let me add, just wonderfully equipped to counter if the Democrats presidentially nominate another – if older – pretty lady.)

GravatarMcClatchy:

Commerce, Treasury funds helped boost GOP campaigns
WASHINGTON — Top Commerce and Treasury Departments officials appeared with Republican candidates and doled out millions in federal money in battleground congressional districts and states after receiving White House political briefings detailing GOP election strategy.

Political appointees in the Treasury Department received at least 10 political briefings from July 2001 to August 2006, officials familiar with the meetings said. Their counterparts at the Commerce Department received at least four briefings — all in the election years of 2002, 2004 and 2006.

I dunno for 2 reasons.

1. PR wise, viscerally for good or ill, Vick is right up there with rapists and pedophiles. Americans really love dogs.

2. He's a great athlete but you'd have to totally alter your offense for the guy.

GravatarI can't see Edwards taking a second slot again, either. But I do like what he's saying and think the media, Reapers and his Dem opposition are out to shut him up.

I'm poor, but I've been giving him money in dribs and drabs, recommend everyone else does, too.

The effort now should be on keeping the debate on ideas before the American people. Get and Edwards bumpersticker, windown decal, talking him up to your friends.

Let the traditional sources of power know we -- not they -- will decide what this election is going to be about.
.

GravatarIt is stunning that not one Tweety type will publicly ponder why it is ok to be considered rich and handsome for the GOP but not for Dems and it is considered a negative to be smart in either party.

GravatarJust got thorough. Nicely done, NTodd!

GravatarThink back to this week in August 2003, and you're thinking about the 04 presidential candidates beginning to stir, thinking about this one and that one, and try to bring to mind your thoughts back then about the prospects, nominee-wise, of John Kerry.

For that matter, carry those then thoughts on over to November, December 2003 and I bet they're about the same - except for the estimable Kerry fans.

So, any current picture of next year's autumn is drawn on so much smoke and vapor.

I also don't see Hillary being willing to be a vp for say Obama or Edwards. I can see Obama taking the VP slot, given his relative youth and inexperience, and then making his own run in 8 years.
