Alright, this is gonna sound self-righteous, but so be it.
I did everything I knew how to do before the war began to tell my fellow Americans, and warn the major decision-makers, that this war should not happen, and that tens of thousands of people would have their lives senselessly and unjustly destroyed as a result of it.
My fellow Americans, the media, and most of the people in government chose not to listen to me or to those like me.
As far as I'm concerned, my conscience is clear regarding what has since transpired, and continues to transpire.
Sure, I'm pissed about how I've had to suffer economically, or about the human suffering the war has brought about. But guilt, at this point, is not something that I feel.

Sorry, I do. But not personal guilt. There is a difference. American guilt is ours. Granted it is not a vicious and damning as the guilt that should infest those who clamored for war. But it is there. Of course our minimal societal guilt is compounded with the sadness we feel for the soldiers and their families and the Iraqi people whose lives we have ruined - so it works out about the same.

Most shocking part was the meeting with the Viet vet, who had same/similar injury and who was hospitalized for 12 months with 4 months follow-on PT. The Iraq vet was in hospital for 2 1/2 months, and had received negligible PT.
It inspired me to seek out Tomas Young's soundtrack for the film.
