No problem at all. And your point is v. well taken.

Oh. You might not want to go there, Mr Ignorance.

Gravatar"And when they made encryption illegal, we communicated by making rude signs at each other on video skype."

Ha.

I doubt it will be made illegal, mostly because there's a lot of money involved in keeping things secret in the private sector.

GravatarTo everyone who voted for Ralph Nader in 2000:
A sincere, sincere "fuck you."
bmc | 12.15.07 - 7:15 pm |

The democrats refuse to do anything right until Ralph Nader kills himself because he is just too powerful to compete with. So powerful is Ralph Nader that Al Gore couldn't properly contest the 2000 election results. That wasn't a result of Lieberman, Brazille, the DLC and certainly not Gore himself, it was all Nader's fault.

GravatarThey say the arrangement could have permitted neighborhood-by-neighborhood surveillance of phone traffic without a court order, which alarmed them.

I'm sure it was more like "sector-by-sector" surveillance.

The rapid militarization of every facet of this country is fucking nuts.

Enjoy ass raping Arabs much, torture-enabler?

GravatarIn a separate N.S.A. project, executives at a Denver phone carrier, Qwest, refused in early 2001 to give the agency access to their most localized communications switches, which primarily carry domestic calls, according to people aware of the request, which has not been previously reported.

And, coincidently, Qwest got its snout firmly pushed out of the NSA contracting trough.

So he is a libtard after all. Libtards as a rule know no history. The history of the US is it's perfectly legal for Andrew Carnegie and if you do you die or go to jail. Of course they could restrict a special service like encryption just to people who can pay a premium.

GravatarA sincere, sincere "fuck you."

Please tell me that to my face.

Gravatar"Funny thing abotu encryption technology: it reverses the presumption of innocence. You got something too encrypted for the NSA to read, you are presumed an enemy agent up to no good, and are disappeared to Gitmo or points east........."

Reminds me of a comment made earlier about the police in Eugene and why they don't arrest people for smoking marijuana. "Are we supposed to arrest the whole town?"

No need to be rude.

GravatarNaderites: Does the blood on your hands ever wash off? Do you feel guilty about all of the people who have been murdered because of your hubris?

Good luck enforcing that.

Sigh. I don't forgive anyone involved in that fuckup from Al Gore who picked Liarman to be his VP and showed unseemly unwillingness to fight. to Janet Reno who didn't protect black voters in Florida, and the democratic congressmen who didn't understand or care about the stakes, but Nader and Nader voters are guilty too. Despite massive cheating and illegality and Liarman, the Republicans stole it by the skin of their teeth and every enabler deserves blame.

GravatarThese erections were getting in the way of my keyboard.

I set my laptop ON my erections. This is causing a bit of a problem

GravatarYeah, duh. But is the thrill of being clever worth being waterboarded for a message reminding you to pick up milk on the way home?

Actually, yes.

Harrum. Arthur wants these for Christmas. Or, in the absence of fuzzy he wants These. With various faces. The point is, they squeak and he can't break thru them.

I'm not going to say this again. You know and love Arthur. It's Christmas. Honor your responsibilities, eh?

Go one thread down. He wants Booda babies andhe wants Hartz canvas squeaky toys. C'mon. Don't make me beg.

I have to go get a Lot-a-Burger. You can't do that. What you can do is make sure that Arthur has a Booda Baby or a Hartz canvas squeaky toy for Christmas.

Yes, that's lovely.

GravatarThere's no difference between Gore and Bush.

Gravatarthe Republicans stole it by the skin of their teeth and every enabler deserves blame.

Okay, the Rethugs stole an election, ChoicePoint (the company that did the dirty work) admitted to everything under oath before the Florida State Senate --- and everyone deserves blame? What the fuck is that? You know, Bulgaria did what it did to start WWII.

GravatarNTodd voted for Nader? That explains the Kucinich thing then.

GravatarDespite massive cheating and illegality and Liarman, the Republicans stole it by the skin of their teeth and every enabler deserves blame.

Fair enough, but then, so do you, so do I.

Gravatarbmc, we need to move on. Frankly, this country was already headed in the direction we've found ourselves. Would've happened sooner or later, I'm afraid.

I hope people don't like this direction, but we won't know for sure until next year, I'm afraid. And then, how much of the Bush horror and Constitution-fucking will be undone?

You could take away enough of the progressive votes in the primaries to let Clinton or Obama get the nomination.

kei & yuri | Homepage | 12.15.07 - 7:27 pm | #

Because we have this two stage process called "primary" and then "general election". Conceding that a progressive does not have much of a chance to win the primary, we nevertheless support him to try to build some strength for the progressive wing of the party. We reason that a Hillary or Obama or Edwards, looking over their shoulders at a lefty insurgency will not be as eager to sister souljah us in the general and when governing ...

GravatarTell me you didn't vote in Florida and I'll still love you.

Minnesota.

GravatarIThat is an excellent question and I don't have a fucking clue about the answer. What do you suggest?

Getting involved NOW with Election Protection projects in every state, and spending as many volunteer hours as it takes to keep them from stealing votes/keeping African Americans and poor people from voting. Joining League of Women Voters and signing up people, starting now, to vote. Getting ready to riot. Reading Pax Americana and adopting as many of the techniques there as possible.

I'm an old woman with a bum ankle and next time they steal an election, I intend to make them shoot me or arrest me, one.

GravatarIn a separate N.S.A. project, executives at a Denver phone carrier, Qwest, refused in early 2001 to give the agency access to their most localized communications switches, which primarily carry domestic calls, according to people aware of the request, which has not been previously reported.

It never was about fighting terrorism, Bush Daddy didn't trust any of us.

GravatarIf you want a progressive candidate, you'd do well to vote for Edwards instead of Kucinich.

GravatarNTodd voted for Nader in 2000, he's lying.
Ralph Nader | 12.15.07 - 7:27 pm | #

LOL.

I considered it. But even though Gore would most likely win my state's piddling 3 EVs, I decided Ralph wasn't for me. I vote Green locally when I can, but I didn't see any value in Nader's grabbing for the brass ring without a foundation that would help him in Congress.

So I went with Gore, but hoped Ralph would at least get 5% in VT.

GravatarIf you want a progressive candidate, you'd do well to vote for Edwards instead of Kucinich.

Alternately, we progressives can vote for the guy who voted against PATRIOT and AUMF, has proposed true universal healthcare, has vocally called for impeachment, and is the only true anti-war candidate.

GravatarBuild a fucking foundation at the state and local level, and I will vote for your presidential candidate. Until then, you only play the spoiler, so fuck off.
NTodd, Beaten by Dana

Actually, that is probably the answer for the dilemma we progressives find ourself in every two years.

We wind up voting for the Di-Fis and the Harmons and the Reids because we can't bear to vote for a Republican and we haven't developed a generation of progressives to provide a real primary challenge.

GravatarFokowi, what you call lowering the discourse really raises it from the words and actions of the slime in charge.

GravatarI can't help but feel that it is a fatal blow of the dem leadership to have not supported the progressive blog world and figured out a way they could be used. The dems were in the lead but have blown it and have left it open for the republicans to take this over also.

GravatarNTodd, what do you have against Edwards?

GravatarI disagree with the notion that voting for a far left candidate will move the eventual nominee further to the left in the general election or as president.

do we believe in something or not???

and which one is bad? believing in something or not believing in something?

it's not easy being me being around people like you...

GravatarThe last thing the Fascist Bushites want to see happen is having their criminal behavior exposed in a court of law, before a patriotic federal judge with "contempt of court" power...which is why the Fascist Bushites and the cooperative telecoms are so desperate to get retroactive immunity for their criminal activities.

Now we learn that the Fascist Bushites began their criminal activity (illegal, non-court approved domestic surveillance programs) just weeks after Bush and Cheney entered the White House following their stealing of the 2000 elections (with the help of five Fascist Republicans on the Supreme Court).

I can only hope that enough Democrats, free-thinking Independents and any Republicans who may still have a soul will vote in November 2008 for candidates for Congress (or for the White House) who will start undoing retroactively in 2009 the criminal damage done to our democracy by the Fascist Bushites and their corporate enablers...while also retroactively bringing criminal charges against all the Fascist Republicans (and even some complicit Democrats) who've betrayed the public trust in mad pursuit of their Fascist nightmare they envision for our fair democracy. Begone, Traitors!!!! And take your traitorous trolls with you!!!!
