why dont the dems subordinate the funding supplemental to the bill on troop pay raises and benefits for widows, which Bush has also said he would veto.
I am sure we can make that one center stage in the discussion of support the troops or pair them.

Mornin' bats, and let me apologize for posting an upbeat comment on such a mournful thread — kids are still dying and the folks in D.C. keep talking. Go ahead. Cut off the friggin' money. Stop this absuditity now.
On a lighter note, just heard from the son at Pimlico. No more rain in the forecast; Street Sense is playing on the left side of his stall, which is where he goes when he's feeling happy. So, if he loses today, he'll likely have no excuse. But the barn is confident, if that means anything 'cause we're talking about an animal here. If he wins today, we're gonna have a Triple Crown winner.

In the Bush 2007 budget, a grand total of $177 million was appropriated to enforce our wage and hour laws. Compare that to the $13 billion in the 2008 Bush budget for border enforcement -- nearly ONE HUNDRED TIME AS MUCH spent for border enforcement as for wage enforcement." http://www.tpmcafe.com/

That is the problem for the soldiers in Iraq. To me it looks much hotter than Saigon, with the exception of the Tet offensive, and at the very end of the Vietnam conflict. I don't think the soldiers can go anywhere in Baghdad without many other armed friends with them.

WASHINGTON, May 18 — Casualties among private contractors in Iraq have soared to record levels this year, setting a pace that seems certain to turn 2007 into the bloodiest year yet for the civilians who work alongside the American military in the war zone, according to new government numbers.
At least 146 contract workers were killed in Iraq in the first three months of the year, by far the highest number for any quarter since the war began in March 2003, according to the Labor Department, which processes death and injury claims for those working as United States government contractors in Iraq.
That brings the total number of contractors killed in Iraq to at least 917, along with more than 12,000 wounded in battle or injured on the job, according to government figures and dozens of interviews.

Does anyone ever watch the C-Span's Washington Journal?
Today some guy, a totally pacifist liberal ACLU, civil Liberties guy that resigned, talked about how the he thought Bush was a "nice guy".
RIGHT! A nice guy???
You KNOW, if Nixon got impeached for "listening" in on Dems as they planned political measures that WHY the HELL can't Bush be impeached for replacing lawyers that were proscuting Republicans for illegal crimes while NOT proscute DEMS for nothing just so Repugs could say "look Dem are crooked" and for some very dubious voter fraud claims.
Bush has literally tried to KEEP Dems out of office by any means necessary, legal or otherwise illegal, and yet, still we have Dems talking about Bush as if he’s a nice guy, a guy that plays fair. I mean, here we have Harry Reid nearly crying in his coffee yesterday that Bush didn’t even take any responsibly for not signing their latest war funding bill -- the sad fact that REID is always surprised that Bush doesn’t play fair makes Reid nothing but a loathsome, contemptible moron.
How many times is Bush going to stab Reid in the Back before Reid GET'S IT? That Bush is NOT his friend. In short, I have wonder why Harry Reid is so damn stupid?
We’ve seen too many people in Washington of late either resign or talk about resignation in the Bush administration because Bush was doing something illegal but YET these very people would not dare say a negative WORD against Bush. IS it better that Bush be allowed to continue doing illegal things? Not saying a word about Bush’s illegal wiretapping makes both Ashcroft and Comey guilty of same crime of wiretapping.
Bush IS NOT A NICE GUY, he doesn't play fair, he certainly doesn't play by the book. It's time to talk about impeachment. Bush and Cheney only understand the big stick approach, so it's time to stick it to them, only to be fair to the American people, it's time to show the Bushies the law by every legal means necessary. It's time for impeachment because there simply is no other way around the Bush administration. BUT if Dems cave now, nobody will listen to the Dem anymore.
