But the 50 state strategy was a huge reason that I didn't support Clinton.
Not only did she not support it, her people ridiculed it and fought against it.

Looking at MS-01 (a 28 point swing), They want to run away from Bush, but can't create any space between them. McCain is flipping as hard as he can, but he's still attached.
They are doomed, and some of them know it.
The deserting coward is their mascot, and they can't get rid of him. His fucking war, his fucking tax cuts, his useless fellating of the Bandit Hous of Saud, his casual disregard for human suffering in New Orleans, an AMERICAN city, etc, is the doom of the GOP.

The election is going to be all over the map this year.
You're just not going to see the kind of endless 'campaign forums' that gathered 250 attention-seeking 'undecided' voters in Dayton or Columbus. That's a good thing, because if you really can't decide between McCain and Obama on issues like the war, the economy, healthcare etc, your opinion is frankly one that shouldn't carry any determinative political weight. As Gail Collins said way back, those sorts of voters need to get a grip.
Obama is making a fascinating gamble, and that's to look at the people who historically haven't voted in presidential elections. That's a big number, and turning just a small fraction of them into supporters and voters changes things in a big way.
It also means that we may end up with an election measured by weird, skewed polls, because the 'likely voter' model could be way way off this year. Since polls actually drive politics, especially on the cabloids, that could be a problem. It'd be good to know what the pollsters themselves think about it.

Whoever winds up being the Dem candidate to face off with Smith in the fall only needs to get enough name recognition with a D behind his name and he'll win.
Smith thinks it's going to be Merkley, he's running anti-Merkley ads.
I suppose it's possible that Smith would rather face off with Novick than Merkley and so is boosting Novick, but frankly I don't think Smith is that clever, seeing as he's claiming to be the candidate of "change", which is so fucking hilarious as to make me wonder if Colbert isn't his campaign manager.

Carnival ride collapses in California; 24 injured
ANGELS CAMP, Calif. (AP) — State investigators were trying to determine what caused a spinning carnival ride at a county fair to collapse and injure all 24 people aboard.
The carnival ride, called the Yo-Yo, collapsed shortly after 6 p.m. Friday at the Calaveras County Fair and Jumping Frog Jubilee, about 80 miles southeast of Sacramento.
The ride has metal arms, each with a seat at the end attached by a chain, that swing outward as the ride picks up speed. The arms rise and fall as they spin around a center pole, putting the seats horizontal to the ground.
The pole apparently collapsed, causing the arms to crash back toward the center, said Dennis Townsend, a chief in the Calaveras County unit of the California Department of Forestry and Fire Prevention.
The riders — mostly children — were hurt when their seats struck the ground or other parts of the machine, he said.

The Calaveras County Fair and Jumping Frog Jubilee opened Wednesday and is held each year in late May. It was inspired by a Mark Twain story, "The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County."
The fairgrounds is located just outside the Gold Rush-era town of Angels Camp in the Sierra Nevada foothills. It bills itself as an "old-fashion county fair" with exhibits and a variety of entertainment.

Well, first off, I need to be careful here. I don't mind Barack, but I'm not a breathless supporter. A little balance is in order.
That much control and money, as is implied, should worry anyone just on account of because.
This phenomenon has been manufactured. Let's not forget that.
Several years of Obama's past are rather hazy for one reason or another. But we know enough to say that he will manipulate and step on friendly toes when the need arises, Chicago style.
Despite his well polished personae, we are likely to see that evolve into something I dare say many are not now anticipating. This will include most especially Michelle. She should not be underestimated.
I'm not saying all is doom and gloom and nefarious. Just that concentrated power is coalescing around unknown intent and ability. Its wise to be apprised.

Your concern is noted.
Frankly, Obama has been good about admitting issues from his past or deflecting/disarmig whatever his rivals have thrown at them.
And trust me when I say this whatever skeletons Obama may have in his closet is nothing compared to McCain.

This phenomenon has been manufactured. Let's not forget that.
If you mean manufactured by the candidate himself, OK.
It's called campaigning and it's central to a concept known as politics. You see, in order to win at politics, you have to get elected. In order to get elected, you have to campaign.

A little wary of all the fundraising going to one guy and/or his org.
No shit. But that's reality. And it's better than K-Street.
In many, many ways, this is what we've wished for--a candidate elected by citizen activism, funded by citizen dollars.
I honestly do not see how that wish could have been fulfilled without a charismatic leader.
There weren't enough deaniacs, and the technical infrastructure was less well in place.
What Obama has built is entirely new--and nobody else did it, and they all could have.

In order to get elected, you have to campaign.
And the better campaigner you are, the more likely you are to get elected. Its amazing really.
Some one who can run a very effective campaign, might be able to do a good job organizing a transition team, who in turn might be able to put together an effective Administration etc.

What drives me nuts about Huggy Bear is that he has personal experience of what torture is like, and how it's used to get the victim to say anything the torturer wants to hear, and yet he learned nothing from his own agonizing experience. Nothing.
This is why he's too fucking STUPID to be President.

I think McCain knows, but went ahead and did voted for torture, anyway, because he thought that it would get him elected. You don't have to even have been tortured to figure out that torturing someone will make them say anything. He just caved to the Pukes who love torture for torture's effect on their penises the same way that he caved to the fundies.
