But the 50 state strategy was a huge reason that I didn't support Clinton.
Not only did she not support it, her people ridiculed it and fought against it.

Looking at MS-01 (a 28 point swing), They want to run away from Bush, but can't create any space between them. McCain is flipping as hard as he can, but he's still attached.
They are doomed, and some of them know it.
The deserting coward is their mascot, and they can't get rid of him. His fucking war, his fucking tax cuts, his useless fellating of the Bandit Hous of Saud, his casual disregard for human suffering in New Orleans, an AMERICAN city, etc, is the doom of the GOP.
They are fucked, and they can't find a way out of the nightmare. It certainly isn't the bone ignorant asswipe Huggy Bear.

The election is going to be all over the map this year.
You're just not going to see the kind of endless 'campaign forums' that gathered 250 attention-seeking 'undecided' voters in Dayton or Columbus. That's a good thing, because if you really can't decide between McCain and Obama on issues like the war, the economy, healthcare etc, your opinion is frankly one that shouldn't carry any determinative political weight. As Gail Collins said way back, those sorts of voters need to get a grip.
Obama is making a fascinating gamble, and that's to look at the people who historically haven't voted in presidential elections. That's a big number, and turning just a small fraction of them into supporters and voters changes things in a big way.
It also means that we may end up with an election measured by weird, skewed polls, because the 'likely voter' model could be way way off this year. Since polls actually drive politics, especially on the cabloids, that could be a problem. It'd be good to know what the pollsters themselves think about it.

Smith thinks it's going to be Merkley, he's running anti-Merkley ads.

Carnival ride collapses in California; 24 injured
ANGELS CAMP, Calif. (AP) — State investigators were trying to determine what caused a spinning carnival ride at a county fair to collapse and injure all 24 people aboard.
The carnival ride, called the Yo-Yo, collapsed shortly after 6 p.m. Friday at the Calaveras County Fair and Jumping Frog Jubilee, about 80 miles southeast of Sacramento.
The ride has metal arms, each with a seat at the end attached by a chain, that swing outward as the ride picks up speed. The arms rise and fall as they spin around a center pole, putting the seats horizontal to the ground.
The pole apparently collapsed, causing the arms to crash back toward the center, said Dennis Townsend, a chief in the Calaveras County unit of the California Department of Forestry and Fire Prevention.
The riders — mostly children — were hurt when their seats struck the ground or other parts of the machine, he said.

The Calaveras County Fair and Jumping Frog Jubilee opened Wednesday and is held each year in late May. It was inspired by a Mark Twain story, "The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County."

I think McCain knows, but went ahead and did voted for torture, anyway, because he thought that it would get him elected. You don't have to even have been tortured to figure out that torturing someone will make them say anything. He just caved to the Pukes who love torture for torture's effect on their penises the same way that he caved to the fundies.
Hecate, true, but the thing is, Huggy's ambition totally dominates him, he'd gladly sell off his integrity, his honor, his children, his wife, his mother to feed his ambition.

I agree with you 100%. This guy wants to be president not for the sake of doing anything but just for the sake of being president. Like Bush, he's in love, IMHO, with the trappings of the job -- the Airforce One, the saluting, the jackets embroidered with "Commander in Chief," etc. -- thus, he'll do or say anything in order to get the job. If we defeat him this time, he'll be too old to bother anyone but Arizona ever again. And even Arizona might get sick of him.

Two JFK stories -- one was people saying, "You know he isn't doing it for the money."
The other was his campaigning in West Virginia, where it was assumed that Humphrey was a lock. JFK was approached by an old miner who said, "They tell me you never worked a day in your life." JFK said, "Well, I guess that's true." The old miner grinned and enthusiastically shook JFK's hand -- "Buddy, you ain't missed a thing!"
JFK won West Virginia.

I was taught to not begin sentences with conjunctions????
Completely allowed under modern rules. I've done it in appellate pleadings for years. Besides, if you can begin a sentence w/ "However," you can begin a sentence w/ "But." I'll take a sentence beginning w/ "But" any day over an overly-long sentence where it's unclear what "who" means.

I was reading posts over at one of Hillary's sites this morning (I forget which one, there are so many) and I was a bit stunned by their delusion of the way things are.
After this past week with even the MSM coughing it up for Obama as the nominee, it seems that Hillary and her people still believe that not only can she win, but she will win.
Not only that, but they seem to be enjoying a fantasy that Senator Hillary will also have the majority of popular votes after Florida and Michigan are counted. Now tell me this, after all of the articles I have read, after all of the numbers I have run, after all of the people that have stated differently; Hillary is still claiming that she will be the victor in popular votes. Not only is this seemingly untrue (even with the bogus states counted) BUT her supporters seem to think that should give her the nomination.
Since we count our nominees by delegate count at this point in time, can anyone explain this rationale to me? I simply do not "get" it...

Wanting a sentence to express unambiguous meaning is not nit picking. Using a fragment that conveys meaning is certainly accepted. I've done it in successful SCOTUS pleadings. Well, there's world Xianity (Copts; several types of Orthodox), non-American Protestants; non-American Catholics; non-Roman Catholic Catholics; the Anglican Communion...
Just to speak in general groupings. And then there's the noisy American Xians and the "quiet" American Xians (and so many groupings within American Protestantism alone I can't keep up).

I don't think that anyone "fronted" it. I sent Obama some money when he was running for Senate; I'm guessing many others like me did the same. I thought it was wonderful to see another African American in the Senate and he seemed like an inspiring and caring person.

The argument is that a popular vote win would convince the Super Delegates to back Clinton as the more "electable" candidate.
The SDs even those who have in the past publicly backed one candidate are free to switch sides later (several Clinton SDs have switched to Obama) so presumably they believe that enough can be convinced to switch before August.

Ok, since you have not demonstrated even reasonable human intelligence, I will explain why you can't be taken seriously.
You asked "who fronted the money in the beginning to essentially set up this huge campaign machine in Chicago".
In this question, you present, as fact, that somebody "fronted the money" to begin Obama's presidential campaign. You have been asked repeatedly to produce evidence of that assertion. And yet, you continue with the same implication without evidence.
Until you are able to defend your arguments, you are not worthy of any respect.

Hecate: do you have any pictures of your raised flower and herb beds? I absolutely love that look. If you have any pic's would you post them? Thanks.
I have a ton of pics, but right now, my MacBook won't let me load them. I have an appointment at the "Genius Bar" tomorrow to figure out the problem. The look is going to be kinda funky Arts & Crafts, brick mixed w/ river stones. I've got some v nice young men who've torn up part of my two-car driveway (since I only need one car) to put a huuuuuuuge herb bed in the West, where I actually get sun. I keep alternating between thinking that the bed is too little to let me grow everything that I want to grow and worrying how I'll ever fill up such a large bed. It's going to have paths of thyme running through it that you can walk on, releasing the scent of thyme w/ every step. I am v excited about it.

Right! I know we have given more to his campaign than any other in recent memory. Add our extended family to that figure and you already have a lot of folk who readily donated just because of Obama, not because we are part of some front group.
My Dad and Brother both gave Obama large personal donations last summer, and neither of them had donated any campaign before. They did this as individuals, not at the prompting of any group.
I've given Obama hundreds of dollars so far and I had never given money to candidates before the 2004 election (one thing George W. Bush has accomplished is to increase the number of active Democrats in this country).

The increased Dem turnout isn't due solely to Obama. According to ARG, "There are exceptions (such as Arkansas, Tennessee, and Rhode Island), but Clinton, and not Obama, tends to win in the states where turnouts are higher. The relationship is strong enough that Democratic primary turnout can be predicted using Clinton's share of the vote."
Both candidates turnout their supporters .

What part of "it grew as more people joined" do you not understand? What is it about his campaign that you think it required huge amounts of money to kick start? Do you not remember the buzz an articles about him from when he was first running for the Senate in 2004? The speech at the convention in 2004? Do you not think its possible that people looked at the guy then and were impressed with with what they saw?

The following is one article about how it was financed but I really don't know why I had to try to find the answer to my own question. Now I suppose I will be abused because this article doesn't answer the question the way I said it did or intimated. I believe this one article suggests the truth of my statement that this campaign machine is unusual in it size and organization and obviously it wasn't financed by ten dollar contributions of the fans. If you don't want to talk about something I don't see where it says anywhere that you have to but it also doesn't say you have to abuse people either.
Being too cavalier about any voting bloc is a problem.
What Molly said.
I simply don't buy the "well, they hate each other so it won't happen" stuff. I do deals every week w parties who hate each other. Put enough $$$ or power on the table and people will do deals with the devil in the pale moonlight. I've seen deals w folks who wanted to salt each other's land work out when there was enough on the table. Hil would take VP at this point, and, she should. It will move the cause of feminism that much forward. A good lawyer could negotiate an important enough portfolio for her (which, IMHO, should NOT include health care) that she should take that job and run with it. She's not yet sixty.
But, then, I make a living doing deals such as this, so maybe I'm biased.

When people donate $25, $50, or $100 at a time, it adds up fast.

Obama's early money came from the same place every other candidate gets their early money - bundlers, fundraisers, Wall Street and Silicon Valley. Obama also received a ton of Chicago money since he is the local and one of the Pritzkers is his finance chair. This money helped him "tie" Clinton in the money primary and campaign until his small donor/web based started to take off in the last quarter of 2007.

Regarding the MI vote, it's tainted. You can't recapture the votes that took place on that day, because some Dems voted for Romney, some Repubs voted for Hillary, and another 45% of us couldn't vote for anyone. Write in votes weren't counted.

When Atrios dubbed them "The Stupidest Trolls on the Internet", they misunderstood a bit and started high-fiving each other, spreading a thick cloud of Cheeto dust everywhere, dancing and shouting 'we're number one', until they fell to pummeling each other insisting that it was, in fact, they who was number one and the other trolls were mere assistants. A protracted period of trollessness ensued, giving Atriots a false sense of relief. One troll let out a particularly well timed and stanky Cheeto fart that lulled the others into a dreamlike state wherein they accepted the designation Associate Trolls and the rest is history.

I've seen deals w folks who wanted to salt each other's land work out when there was enough on the table.
sadly, US leftie politics has for 30 years or more been about leaving the money on the table and turning down a good deal because the punctuation was not acceptable or the "above the fold" comments that have no actual effect were in dispute.

Culture of TrUth: Your off the hook--sounds like you were in great company!!! I love your blog. When will you be updating it?
I have told many of my friends about it and they love it. After I win Powerball or Megamillions, I'll send you a few scheckels (also Atrios, but that goes without saying).
Did you happen to follow the Bayou case that just ended with the sentencing of one of the scumbags that perpetrated the whole damn mess? Well, sadly, I was one of the scammed.

The MS student carried her 12 week old twins across the stage.
Gromit made me cry
It was very touching, and perked up the audience in the middle of a long, long ceremony. And I got to hold them afterwards (one at a time).

Audrey and I are going to a Japanese steak house. I'm craving that ShoGun action we had last weekend.
And she's in bliss because she gets to have sushi!
I should be cooking. I've been as lazy as a goat today.

I suppose we should all get used to people using all kinds of racist language, but I have such a short fuse when it comes to this stuff. I am quite sure the Repub's WILL do what they do best which is to smear and insinuate all kinds of fear inundated with racial touches.
This is NOT going to be an easy election year...

Tom Davis recently referred to Obama as a tar baby. Is that really "centrist"? Why is a man like that considered a moderate?
"In my day" (oh, aren't I old) anyone who said something like that would have been labeled a right wing cretin.
Polly_Tics
In today's GOP, Davis is what they consider a moderate.
In reality, he IS a right wing cretin.
AND a racist creep.

My boss and I were originally going to be trained as superusers, but then the go-live date got pushed back, some egos got involved, so no superuser powers for us.

Nope. Na ganna be easy and there will be some real scares along the way that will make us want to snarl at each other. But one of America's biggest boils is going to get lanced along the way and we'll all tell our grandkids that we were here for it.

I'm doing all of the corporate communications for our Epic system. I work for the largest physician-owned multispecialty group in West Michigan. About 1,400 employees.
We created a marketing theme for Epic - it's our "journey." Around the theme, we have all kinds of travel icons and motifs. For the super users, for example, we are buying them all "captain's wings" - lapel pins. It's been a very fun project. I do monthly newsletters, and all kinds of different things to generate interest and keep the group motivated.
I love working with Epic.

I've had it done to me and it's not nice. I'm going to vote for him, but I'm not going to pretend that when he does suppressive shit it's ok. He apologized and he should have.
