I'll say it one more time:
Biden wouldn't have been my choice, and I don't like him for a lot of reasons, but in the end Obama is still going to win big.
The problem is what he and the Dems do with that win big, and nothing I've heard since before the primaries gives me any particular optimism about that.
I think they'll continue to let the Republicans determine the terms of the arguments, and, ultimately, give the Republicans almost everything they want.

riding the swing refers to an image from the Mcsame press BBQ. Mcsame daughter has a youtube posting and narration of the event, which includes all the usual hackery and reach arounds, and among them is AP reporter woman so drunk she falls off the tire swing.
there are plenty of yucks and good times and of course mcsame wears his Navy hat and Cindy talks about how much nicer it is at "the cabin" than in DC.

Benen piece...
Second, in context, Fournier's objectivity covering the presidential race continues to look shaky. We are, after all, talking about a journalist who, as recently as last year, considered working for the McCain campaign.
Before Ron Fournier returned to The Associated Press in March 2007, the veteran political reporter had another professional suitor: John McCain's presidential campaign.
In October 2006, the McCain team approached Fournier about joining the fledgling operation, according to a source with knowledge of the talks. In the months that followed, said a source, Fournier spoke about the job possibility with members of McCain's inner circle, including political aides Mark Salter, John Weaver and Rick Davis.
Over at MSNBC, Shuster and Tweety are wondering whether or not Obama and Biden will have prepared speeches or not today, and wondering what it would mean either way.

I had to look this word up. Normally I don't
From the 1828 Websters dictionary.
metalepsis
METALEP'SIS, n. [Gr. participation; beyond, and to take.]
In rhetoric, the continuation of a trope in one word through a succession of significations, or the union of two or more tropes of a different kind in one word, so that several gradations or intervening senses come between the word expressed and the thing intended by it; as "in one Caesar there are many Mariuses." Here Marius, by a synecdoche or antonomasy, is put for any ambitious, turbulent man, and this, by a metonymy of the cause, for the ill effects of such a temper to the public.
there are more definations at other online dictionarys but I like the first one the most.
metalepsis
n. rhetorical device of changing figurative sense by metonymy. metaleptic(al), a.; Medicine, applied to muscle associated with others in action.
n. pl. Metalepses .
(Rhet.) The continuation of a trope in one word through a succession of significations, or the union of two or more tropes of a different kind in one word.
Met`a`lep´sis
n. 1. (Rhet.) The continuation of a trope in one word through a succession of significations, or the union of two or more tropes of a different kind in one word.
Webster's Revised Unabridged Dictionary, published 1913 by C. & G. Merriam Co.
metalepsis
a rhetorical device in which a word that is used figuratively is taken through a succession of its different meanings or two or more tropes are united in the use of a single word. — metaleptic, adj.

Ron fournicator is the fruit if AP being a cooperative. The news service is actually owned by its subscribing papers and broadcast outlets. In the days when I worked there--30 years ago -- it was the straightest and most objective of all the reporting outlets. You just didnt do opinion or have any slant in stories. the texture of things was as right down the middle as possible.
it was heavily edited to achieve that.
what we have now is a cooperative but with the governing board of murdochs and singletons--i think he is chairman now--and all manner of right wing corporate chain radio types who purchase the service so their talent can rip-and-read the news. only no ripping now in the 'puter age.

But Obama should go negative, strongly negative in this campaign, because that is honestly the single, undeniable, overwhelming reason to elect him: he is not a Republican, he never supported Bush, he voted against the war. Meanwhile Republicans were doing dispicable things that must be brought into the open. They cannot be ignored.
Obama has to expose these people. He and Biden are now in the best possible position to do it -- openly and on the record. Even if the Obama/Biden ticket loses the election, exposing those criminals as the deeply corrupt, anti-American traitors they are, will be remembered.
Nullifying the power of Karl Rove and his vile henchmen is the first (and possibly most important) task of Obama’s presidency. It is immaterial that this crisis is occurring before the election. It has to be done. There is no choice.
