GravatarThe concern troll nature of Correntewire and similar formerly liberal blogs becomes clearer every day
Consider this comment

The fact that Obama doesn’t care about so many basic Democratic values —like choice —is of concern to all of us.

GravatarDistracted by over caffeinated commenters, apparently.

Gravatarthe first 6 years--movie about eschaton

GravatarOh man, Atrios should link to the first post or first page or something, so we can marvel at the change.

GravatarI never remember birthdays.

kids parents wife, g/f - I forget them all.

Gravatar Oh man, Atrios should link to the first post or first page or something, so we can marvel at the change.

First post: Open Thread.

Gravatari wouldnt mind seeing some of the posts from early days

GravatarThis year, severely jet lagged, I forgot my daughter's birthday until a day later. It cost.

GravatarHappy Birthday/Anniversary? I've been enjoying the suckiness since 2004. Thanks!

GravatarHey, kid, rock 'n' roll, rock on.

GravatarOne's all you need.
-

Gravatarmissing someone special's birthday is a HUGE NO No.

contrition, submission, and massive overcompensation, in that order.

GravatarWhoa.

Happy blogiversary, man!

GravatarUncle Blodge, I have them all in an Excel spreadsheet.

I've got a lot of siblings, nieces, nephews, and now a grandbaby, along with a fair number of friends.

Gravatar"missing someone special's birthday is a HUGE NO No."

done it a lot.

My kids know I never remember b days so they don't give a shit when i forget theirs.

GravatarI'm headed out on the town.

Go look at my goddamn nudibranch, meanwhile.

GravatarGod, it's been 4 freakin' years since I found this place?

GravatarI've been doing this for over 6 years.

That's a lot of suck.
- Atrios 22:08

Serious death wish issues this one has.

GravatarWatertiger, I think I've been here since '04.

Time flies when you're having fun.

GravatarPlease please please is there any way to turn off the John McCain ad that keeps showing up just below the first post? I mean, he's my senator, why would I want to keep looking at his ugly mug??????

GravatarSMERCONISH: Look, I don’t get invited out anywhere. You do, Chris. … I’m grilling burgers in an hour in Philly. But let me ask you something. Isn’t this a violation of the dinner code? Isn’t this like a hooker who gives up a john? I mean, isn’t there some impropriety here?

MATTHEWS: I used to love that rule, that when you’re out having fun with each other, you weren’t sitting there with radios, you weren’t quoting them, you weren’t going to screw them in the morning. That’s the world I like to live in. But I have learned, everything you say can be used against you.

Thick soup.

GravatarI never remember birthdays.

kids parents wife, g/f - I forget them all.
Uncle Blodge, Urban Teacher

I've made sure that no anniversary nor birthday is that important. My kids get a family party that can be weeks or months from the actual date.

I dislike those people who burst into tears at the forgetting of such dates. If it's that so fucking important, tell the person.

GravatarI have also been reading since 2004. I was anxious about polls the summer before the election and somehow ended up here.

Fat lot of good it did any of us.

GravatarWe do not celebrate birthdays. We just celebrate more on New Year's.

GravatarI have also been reading since 2004. I was anxious about polls the summer before the election and somehow ended up here.

Same here...came by way of Counterspin....

GravatarMcCain deferred when pressed on whether he was familiar with Christie — a federal prosecutor appointed by President Bush — or Christie’s work. “I know it’s been good,” he said. “I’m certainly not familiar with the political environment here.”

Chris Christie, McCain has your back.

Gravatar"I have also been reading since 2004."

reading that long - used to post under other names till I settled on this one

Gravatari probably came here from buzzflash, but dont remember when. 2003 probably

GravatarOh, now I get it. Thought he'd missed a SO's birthday for 6+ years running. I was never that bad, I think.

GravatarOr was it late 2003? I can't remember now...

GravatarUncle Bloge = Uncle Smokes?

GravatarSploilers:
Oh no she didn't.
SHARON JUST TOLD THEM WHAT TIME IT IS.

Gravatari used to read comments by this kurt foster guy at the old salon board...he was always pimping this blog and i was like, wtf is up with some unemployed gym teacher and why is he pimping this blue place?

i didn't see much sense in that.

GravatarI go back probably to 2003 or 2004...

GravatarI know I was reading for about three months before I decided to ruin a decent thread with my bullshit....

Gravatar"Uncle Bloge = Uncle Smokes?"

nope, though Uncle Blodge used to smoke.

used to use a few aol screen names and such - nothing anyone'd remember

GravatarThen Penguins won. Yay!

GravatarOK, out for real.

GravatarThe Dean campaign site linked to MyDD I think, which linked me over her. It was the Dean campaign that lit up the blogs for me.

GravatarThanks for six awful years.

GravatarWhen was the last time an american soldier was killed in iraq?

Gravatarim pretty sure i came here in the runup to war in 2003.

GravatarI wandered in here via TPM or Buzzflash. I read for a while until I felt brave enough to comment. Somebody responded and that was it.

Except for making a few blunders and trying to puzzle out a few in jokes, it has been a wonderful and supportive community... foul mouthed, passionate, and obsessive about bacon...

Gravatar"Thanks for six awful years."

that *is* a lot of fey videos.

GravatarSix years? YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRGH!

GravatarI've been here since 2001.

GravatarSix years. Hard to believe.

What's even harder to believe is I've been addicted to this joint all but 6 months of those 6 years.

GravatarI've been reading you since '03. As Mister Natural would say, "Keep on suckin'!"

ntodd gave u a site to check on that yesterday.

GravatarI think I was a loyal Kossack when I heard Atrios had got his start there. Checked this place out....Now the Orange Satan just seems a little too-I dunno-Noisy?

GravatarI've been here for four years, I think.

Amazing how this place has changed and enriched my life. Seriously, at the risk of going all gooey -- Atrios may not even know what he's done for a lot of people...

GravatarBelieve me, I wanted to forget my birthday this year.

And I don't particularly want to remember this one in the future.

I think I'll postpone celebrating until my wife's birthday this August... things should be a little rosier by then...

Gravatarim pretty sure i came here in the runup to war in 2003.

Me too, many nyms ago.

GravatarMrs. I (from below) -

They're on the road. Up a run in the 6th. Where the hell is Zap? I still want to heckle him about that unsightly ballpark, and this pitcher named "Boof."

GravatarAre you CRYING, Steve???

GravatarAtrios is neat, and he's cool, and he certainly plays it to the hilt, but I'm not sure he knows what 'Diddy-wah-diddy' means...

Gravatar"I think I was a loyal Kossack when I heard Atrios had got his start there. "

wha?

altjough i think there might have been a few posts at bartcop's board????

Stayed for the view.

GravatarA lot of people were hanging out at Salon during the aftermath of the 2000 election theft.

GravatarI can never remember how long I've been here, but it was pretty close to the beginning.

Read that famous "Atrios at the bookstore in So. Cal." piece at Smirking Chimp, IIRC.

Gravatar"Do you remember how you found the place?"

through tom tomorrow.

GravatarCats on treadmills is my new favorite thing.

GravatarI linked here through a reference from a MSNBC blog from the 2004 Dem Convention. Something about "who is Atrios?"

Gravataroh, hoss. you suck, and you're going to pay. flowers won't be enough, not by a long shot.

Gravatari lurked in this sucky blog for a couple of years starting back around 2004 before i began boring y'all and annoying atrios with my own sucky posts.

dug finding some folks that made my own twisted political mind feel at ease. well most of the time, anyway.

cheers, atrios...

GravatarAtrios is full of turtle meat.

It's eschaton all the way down.

GravatarHappy Birthday, Eschaton.

GravatarThe stench of your foul breath is more than my stomach can stand!

GravatarThat long, really? Do you remember how you found the place?

I always read a lot of BartCop. I'd heard of Atrios, the mysterious blogger over there.

After the 2002 election debacle, I wandered over here. There must have been a saucer of milk on the porch or something as I never left...

Gravatar...and I missed my bloggiversary.

It was on May 4th, 2006, that OBI first went online to satirize the now-defunct Online-Integrity.

Way to go, Tacitus.

GravatarI don't know where I first Eschaton, but I'm glad I clicked the link.

GravatarI found this place via Tom Tomorrow during the whole Trent Lott thing where he longed for good ole days of Strom Thurmond.

What year was that?

I had a subscription to Salon in 2002. It led me to here and a few other DFH sites. I don't post often, but I read daily. Atrios was an oasis in '03-'06.

really? how many iraqis have died? how is the war in afghanistan going? how about all the american soldiers that have been killed? or permanently disabled and living in some vermin infested hospital?

GravatarI think I've been here since early spring, 2004. A link from Buzzflash brought me.

GravatarI go back probably to 2003 or 2004...

Have no idea of the dates involved, but I know that I first became aware of Atrios via a VF Wolcott column. And that I first posted on the day that gay marriage became legal in MA - something along the lines of "Well, I drove into Davis Square this morning, waiting for the sky to fall..."

GravatarAre you CRYING, Steve???
annie | 05.09.08 - 10:30 pm | #

If he is, it's because you're still stinking the place up.

Gravatar"probably saved my life, this place did..."

Life? Dunno.

Mind? absolutely.

Gravatarthrough tom tomorrow.
Uncle Blodge,

I am fairly sure that is how I got here. Quaint that I used to give Salon money on a regular basis.

Gravatargod yes. anyone here from there? besides kurt, that is...

Phoenix Woman used to post here sometimes. Posts at FDL now.

I remember that Greg Palast had a lot of people at Salon and then DU helping him investigate voter rolls purges, and so on.

I used to post at Salon under a different name. That was such a long time ago.

When Salon when pay-to-play, many of the political posters went to TAPs forum, then the Atlantic's, if I recall correctly.

GravatarOn reconsideration, I think it was spring, 2003, that I first came here.

She was here the other night. Also had a great post at DKos a few days ago on community supported agriculture -- with great links.

When I was first here there was some regular "anonymous" person who was supposed to be a recognizable journalist. Does anyone remember that? Did anyone figure out who it was?
