GravatarNo. More. Wire. Hangers. EVER!!!!!!!!

That is all the Republican party has isn't it?

GravatarFrom Media Matters:
Media uncritically repeat McCain claim that Obama "will raise" taxes
In reports on Sen. John McCain's acceptance speech at the RNC, several media outlets uncritically reported McCain's claim that Sen. Barack Obama "will raise" taxes, without pointing out that McCain's own chief economic adviser has reportedly said the accusation is inaccurate or that Obama has in fact proposed cutting taxes for low- and middle-income families and raising them only on households earning more than $250,000 per year.

GravatarThis was just posted at the end of the last thread and is republished here as a public service:

It really appears that the entire proffered narrative defining Sarah Palin is a lie, and that everything about Obama that has and will come out of her mouth is a Damned Lie. And she thinks that she is immune from being called on this utterly reprehensible, cynical strategy because any attempt to expose it will be denounced as rank sexism by her and an army of surrogates. In short, she is opening up on us with an A-K and then trying to duck behind her own skirts. We can't let her do it, and if the media lets her do it, they will be personally responsible for the collapse of human civilization.

GravatarThanks for finding that link, TerryC -- it's all we need:

“So Sambo beat the bitch!”

GravatarThe country has economic chronic fatigue syndrome. It should get on EBay and sell some moose parts.

GravatarNice find, Terry C.

Of course, Repukes don't find anything wrong with “Racist, Sexist, Vindictive, And Mean”

GravatarI've been telling my business acquaintances that
1) Obama proposes ending cap gains tax for small business
2) McCain wants to end the tax deduction for health insurance payments.

Republicans: Sworn enemy of small business for more than 50 years.

Gravatarso i had somewhat tongue-in-cheek suggested that the reason palin "outed" her pregnant daughter on national television was that bristol had pushed back on plans for a secret wedding to proceed a formal peggers announcement.

with all the new info on how palin steamrolls anyone who stands up to her, i have removed my tongue from my cheek.

GravatarOkay! Our closest and most fun foil has showed up. Maybe now we can play.

Also, we are not sure if we need a troll help line but we welcome trool help line's friendship. We will accept his/hers help.

GravatarMore and more people, Democrats particularly; find it repulsive and racist.

GravatarOne reason why Palin was so confident at the Repuke convention -- it helps when you believe it's God's will that has you up there.

GravatarInstead, the economy is being slowly ground down.

And we need a man who's spent his adult life in D.C. to fix it, because he's an outsider who brings the change!

Hey, buddy, can ya spare some change?

GravatarThat Sambo thing has been out there for a couple of days now. Read it yesterday.

The problem with it is that it is hearsay.

You've got to get people on the record who confirm the story, otherwise, it goes viral and the bloggers look like idiots, again.

GravatarI bid 50 bucks for one hot, intense night of moose sex with Sarah Palin. Any takers? Todd, Eli, we're looking at you.

GravatarI've been telling my business acquaintances that
1) Obama proposes ending cap gains tax for small business

How do you end cap gains for small businesses?

Gravatarhmm..i love the smell of nationalization for breakfast!

GravatarAnd we need a man who's spent his adult life in D.C. to fix it, because he's an outsider who brings the change!

and community organizing experience doesn't count b/c the guy wasn't even working in govt! (actual republican talking point - no, i'm not kidding)

GravatarSteve, I don't know if she's toast. I think she stays on the ticket.
Vicki, Who ♥ Al Gore

Why do we think she is toast?

The LA Progressive article? Is this a legitimate source?

GravatarVicki, Sarah has not denied saying it, AFAIK.

GravatarZombie lie told at RNC convention and ignored by MSM:

"Most Americans live in small towns."

Think about that. Does that even sound plausible? The NY, and LA metro areas alone make up over 10% of the country.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ Tab...atistical_Areas

Most Americans BY FAR live in urban areas, and have for at least the last 60 years, probably much longer.

"In 2000, the total population of the U.S. was 281,421,906, the urban population was 222,360,539 (79.01%), and the rural population of the U.S. was 59,061,367 (20.99%)."

http:// rtc.ruralinstitute.umt.ed...ribeFigure2.htm

Which is why being mayor of a small town has jack shit to do with most people's lives. And being a community organizer does.

GravatarDWD, there are no confirmed sources on the Sambo comment.

And Little Mexico burned down.

GravatarShe is far from toast. From below:

Snow, he only looks that way to US...those syncophants at the convention and around MERICA all see a brave, POW who is a "Mavrick" and has chosen a BABE to be our next VP...you know like everyone wanted to have a beer with "W"...
Dancer

GravatarThe Mad Magazine poster is pretty funny. Not as good as the Condi Star Wars, but still good.

Gravatar60% of Americans also live within 50 miles of a coast. Heartland, Schmartland.

GravatarJesus was a community organizer and Pontius Pilate was a governor. Who knew?

GravatarThe problem with it is that it is hearsay.

You've got to get people on the record who confirm the story, otherwise, it goes viral and the bloggers look like idiots, again.
Vicki, Who ♥ Al Gore

Until there is video or at least audio it didn't happen. Also recall she is married to someone who sports some native blood, so she has a built in excuse on that one.

GravatarOT, some questions from Americablog:

How long this "conservatorship" period lasts is anyone's guess. Will it even work or will it have to be completely nationalized is another big question and questions during troubled times do not bring confidence. The market is built on confidence so are they helping? Long term, Americans are stuck with the debt until Freddie and Fannie can generate enough revenue to move on. Freddie and Fannie will have to be more cautious with loans until their debt is settled and that is indeed a problem. Moving forward, how interested will the rest of the world be in buying America's credit debt after they lose everything? As a country we have pushed our credit problem to everyone and after this loss, the world is going to be much less interested in buying our problems, rightly so.

Sounds like bills are really coming due.

GravatarDWD, there are no confirmed sources on the Sambo comment.

And Little Mexico burned down.

Yeah, I heard that. Sorry to hear that. I have eaten there many times. Nice place

When you sell all or part of your small business, you are liable for taxes on the gains.

true.

it's better when it's in a cnn transcript, like when nancy pfotenhauer said: "Senator McCain was one of the only people who would call a spade a spade."

i'm sure she didn't mean anything by it.

GravatarI think I'm going to make some oatmeal apricot cookies this morning. Problem is I don't have oatmeal flakes which is the best for this. Instead I've got steel cut oatmeal granules, which would make the resulting cookies too chunky. I could pre-grind those granules in a food processor. Do you think this would work?

GravatarThe broadest measure is U6. It's high.

ME2. Where's a broad to measure?

This election is going to be fought, and won or lost, in the 'burbs. The 'burbs don't know from community organizers, mostly, and if they do they are frightened by it.

Honestly I see a constant tone of Obam triumphalism here that very much reminds me of the days before the 2004 election, and I don't understand it.

Half the people you meet are below average. Mostly they only know what they see on TV, and we know who controls the TV.

GravatarJesus was a community organizer and Pontius Pilate was a governor. Who knew?

Apparently not Republican Christians...

GravatarIt is just rumor, but still juicy.

Anything plausible that undermines her sweethreart/neo-feminist/reformer image is good, so long as it is either true or impossible to refute. We don't want another Rather/TANG kerfuffle. It seems there is plenty of perfectly good material that will take her out at the knees, if only our media can be induced to use it and to stop catapulting her Damned Lies in the name of "balance".

GravatarThe LA Progressive article? Is this a legitimate source?
DWD - Fed Up • → BS

it's got the word "progressive" right in the name!

Gravatar"In 2000, the total population of the U.S. was 281,421,906, the urban population was 222,360,539 (79.01%), and the rural population of the U.S. was 59,061,367 (20.99%)."

Don't you just love the electoral college?

GravatarWhen you sell all or part of your small business, you are liable for taxes on the gains.

That is true for everyone. So how do you end the cap gains tax on small businesses?

GravatarDWD,

Very weird. I was tired last night, didn't cook. Went to Little Mexico right after work, around 5:30 PM and had their flauta, taco, and enchilada dinner, with rice and beans.

Funny that I did that. I haven't gone there in months.

GravatarNancy Pfotenhauer would kill her mother on camera

GravatarWas in a convenience store a few minutes ago. Guy behind the register (50-ish, Caucasian) was telling a friend, "Just don't know about Obama. I can't have him raising my taxes anymore."

Guy was just a clerk, not the owner.

This is part of what we're up against. I was thinking on my way out: maybe I should print and laminate a gross of this chart to pass out at that store...

GravatarOh really? We got some lovely shit on Sahah Palin's long history of racism.

GravatarThat is true for everyone. So how do you end the cap gains tax on small businesses?

That was a my other thought. I don't know if I'll have a surplus supply of cookies though I'm cooking up a bunch.

Maybe you could have some of the second batch.

GravatarHonestly I see a constant tone of Obam triumphalism here that very much reminds me of the days before the 2004 election, and I don't understand it.

That's been my feeling.

I remember the devestation after Kerry lost in 2004, and I really don't want to get jazzed up and torn down again. We need to proceed with very cautious hope and optimism.

Gravatar. I was thinking on my way out: maybe I should print and laminate a gross of this chart to pass out at that store...

won't help.

republican talking head on cnn confronted with the tax lie: "well, that's what he SAYS but you know how democrats are, once he is in office he'll raise taxes."

this, btw, was on the same day that the question was raised about how good of a special needs advocate palin will be, considering her 62% cut of spec needs ed in alaska. the repub head answered "she says she will be a friend and we have to take her at her word."

no, i'm not making either of these up.

GravatarHmm. Thinks back to FL McCain supporter saying, "How can we beat the bitch?" about Hillary - thinks people WOULD say it.

GravatarHere's the Obama small business plan

That isn't a plan. It is platitudes. How is he going to end cap gains taxes on small businesses?

GravatarHi.

Gravatar.Let her deny it.
rootless-e, sickened

It's a non-starter from the POV of the Obama campaign and/or any other big-league media outlet. It's Rather/TANG bait. Fine for it to circulate on the mucky bottom of the blogosphere along with all the scurrilous shit about Obama, but deadly if catapulted into the mass media. They can take her out perfectly well with stuff that is provable and on the record. She is a vicious liar in the things she's said about Obama. Mybe they can start with that.

GravatarDija hear that the band "Heart" sent a cease and desist letter to the McCain campaign over their use of the Barracuda song?
Doug | 09.06.08 - 11:11 am

This isn't the first cease and desist they've gotten. So when does Team GDumbya's Intellectual Property Czar step in and call 'em out?

GravatarJust say no to additional breaks for capital gains taxes. The first dollar of wages is counted as income while only 25% of long term capital gains is considered income.

GravatarThat is true for everyone. So how do you end the cap gains tax on small businesses?
Snow (D-SC)

Simple, like the rides at the fair, put a mark on the gate with a sign:

You must be at least this big to pay capital gains tax.

Gravatar"I remember the devestation after Kerry lost in 2004, and I really don't want to get jazzed up and torn down again. We need to proceed with very cautious hope and optimism."

I'll second that. Really, if the sheeple were not stupid they would not have elected a repug as president 5 0f the last 7 elections.

This is why I will never be elected to anything.

GravatarWell, we could all run around screaming "The Sky is Falling! The Sky is Falling!" all the time. That might help get Obama elected.

GravatarI think the stupidest thing I ever heard was "We don't want the smoking gun to be a mushroom cloud" or maybe Colin Powell's UN speech about Saddam's WMD.

GravatarI really don't want to get jazzed up and torn down again. We need to proceed with very cautious hope and optimism.

By 'We' I assume you mean 'I.' That said, I remain cautiously optimistic.

GravatarPfotenhauer, Perino ... it is to gnash the teeth.

don't forget carli ferraririno.

GravatarI'm just hoping that Obama's campaign can come up with something a little more compelling this week than having Joe Biden talk about what a swell guy John McCain is.

Maybe they could mention those unemployment figures.

Seems like some campaign consultant who is being paid roughly 20 times my salary could come up with something memorable, like "Are you better off now than you were 4 years ago?"

I'm not trying to be all concern-y, but I was just a little less plugged in to the blogs and my usual news sources than usual last week, and I don't remember hearing jack from Obama's campaign, much less a strong rebuttal to McCain's dreary bullshit speech.

If there was a great response, I'd like to know, but I guarantee all most people heard was what got on my radar, which was how Palin hit a "home run" and McCain "defined" himself.

GravatarThe urban population in the US surpassed the rural population by 1920.

http://www.census.gov/population...a/ urpop0090.txt

This is a zombie lie that we've lived with for 90 years, while the right diverts resources from the cities and tells us we're unAmerican compared to "the heartland".

They have 20% of the population and the MSM helps them masquerade as the "real America".

GravatarThat isn't a plan. It is platitudes. How is he going to end cap gains taxes on small businesses?
Snow (D-SC) | Homepage | 09.06.08 - 11:17 am | #

Your question makes no sense. Taxes are collected under "tax laws" which spell out what is a taxable benefit and what is not.

GravatarPalin stays. The bad news is that she rallies the Republican Base, which was gonna vote for McBush anyway.

The good news is that she really rallies women to vote for Obama. This seals the deal for even the most disaffected Hillary supporter, in my opinion.

GravatarOnce again, you're blithering. Or blathering. I can't keep it straight.

Community organizing = Black Panthers to most people. Guaranteed.
Adam Hominem

No, I don't think so. A) Most people don't remember the Black Panthers. You have to keep in mind the majority of the electorate is under 50, which means they've never heard of the Black Panters, except in a history class or an "old" movie If then).

B) Most people don't give two thoughts to "community organizers." That may be a dog whistle to rural parts of the American West (like Alaska), but it's hardly a major hot button issue.

C) Many people know "community organizers" as the folks who run Meals on Wheels or similar organizations, which help white folks as well as "minorities." Again, if they know them at all.

I think that phrase resonates with the GOP base (a tiny percentage of the electorate) and offends many more (from the responses I've heard, and not just on this blog).

Obama's not Kerry. He is running a much better campaign.

The situation is vastly different than in 2004 in any direction you want to look. And it's all much worse.

Obama beat the Clintons. The Clintons would have beat Bush in 2000 and 2004.

And how they sent out millions of emails with an elaborate lie about how Obama had been raised as an American-hating Muslim since birth? And how it didn't work and nobody believed it because the "sources" were never "confirmed" or "went on the record" or were "taped"? And how the wingnuts that tried to start such a dispicable rumor were ostracized from the Republican Party by its leaders who stood up and said in a loud voice "we're better than this"?

Yeah, I don't remember that either...

i get the sense that you are correct - esp in the non-batshit-insane religious community. what is missionary work if not community organizing?

what astounds me is that the very same people who decry gov't involvement in social programs would slam someone for being involved in non-gov't community asssistance. logically, wouldn't someone with experience on that side of things know how to utilize its strenghts?

oops - sorry about that. i uesd the word "logically."

That was yesterday, and frankly, TDS showed just how much McCain "defined" himself. The fruit is not just hanging low on this one, it's one the ground to be picked up.

Less than 60 days to go, and never forget: Obama raised $10 million in the time between Palin's speech and the end of McCain's speech.

The RNC raised $1 million.

Money talks. In more ways than just ad buys.

Gravatar Hillary is doing events with Obama next week. Per the Obama campaign:
On MONDAY, September 8, U.S. Sen. Hillary Clinton of New York will campaign in Florida on behalf of Democratic Presidential candidate Barack Obama. Her visit will include a Change We Need rally for voters in Tampa and a community event on the economy in Kissimmee.

At both events, Sen. Clinton will address the choice we have in this election – between a new direction for our economy or four more years of the Bush failed economic policies that McCain-Palin is offering. She will talk about the Obama-Biden plan for immediate and lasting relief for America’s working families.

Can only help.

True, but it's going viral. Watch.

In two to three weeks, every woman in this country will know where Palin stands on choice, censorship, and Christianity.

And it's well to the right of ninety-five percent of the country.

Add to this that she is a singularly unpleasant person, and I think the GOP has a serious problem, particularly given the likelihood of her becoming Pres if McCain is somehow elected.

GravatarAfter RNC Speech, Republicans Court Lieberman to Make the Switch Official

Lieberman has been caucusing with Democrats, who in turn have honored his seniority and permitted him to serve as chairman of the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee.

Sen. Arlen Specter of Pennsylvania, a senior Republican, said he intended to try to pry Lieberman from the Democratic fold, beginning with Monday’s cloture vote on a motion to proceed to the fiscal 2009 defense authorization bill (S 3001).

“I would like to see him vote with Republicans in September,” Specter said. “He’s practically there. That would have the consequence of giving us a Republican Senate.”

Specter said he’s ready to renew a months-long discussion with Lieberman about switching parties.

Lieberman says he still considers himself a Democrat.

“I remain a Democrat. A disappointed Democrat, but a Democrat,” he said Sept. 3, hours after his speech at the Republican National Convention on behalf of his close friend, GOP presidential nominee Sen. John McCain of Arizona.

Fuck that.

Gravatarwhat astounds me is that the very same people who decry gov't involvement in social programs would slam someone for being involved in non-gov't community asssistance. logically, wouldn't someone with experience on that side of things know how to utilize its strenghts?

oops - sorry about that. i uesd the word "logically."
dirk gently,sociopathetic

Yeah, there's a grotesgue illogic in the GOP campaign. But political campaigns ain't about logic, they're emotional appeal. "Community organizers" hasn't been denigrated enough to become a hot button, that's my sole point.

It's a whiff for Palin, at best. At worst, it pisses people off. And the fact Obama raised $10 million, largely on the strength of her speech, tells me plenty of people are pissed off.

GravatarThey can take her out perfectly well with stuff that is provable and on the record. She is a vicious liar in the things she's said about Obama. Mybe they can start with that.

If they're against that, whyever wouldn't they be against community organizing, or whatever you call it? it's all black folks getting uppity, after all..
Adam Hominem

Agreed, but the phrase "community organizer" has never been linked to "welfare queens." It took a decade or more for welfare to go from "helping others" (the basic idea of JFK, which LBJ carried forward on the back of people like MLK) to "government handouts" to "welfare cheats." Reagan finally made that a part of public perception and policy in the '80's, 16 years after LBJ's Great Society first entered the law.

I don't think Palin is going to do a hat trick with "community organizers" in less than 60 days.

GravatarMorning all.

It's nice to wake up and not hear helicopters going over the house. Never again.

GravatarI think the "Sarah Palin is a racist" story should be dropped, not because it is unprovable, but because it will only solidify her support with her base.

What plantsman said.

Look, I don't see that Lieberman's votes have helped out the Dems much since his re-election, but because of seniority, that election helped him out a great deal in terms of a coveted committee chairmanship.

Let him hop on over to the GOP caucus for a couple of months, but strip him of his chairmanship. Not much is going to get done until the next Congress anyway because Pelosi and Reid don't have the spine to make real things happen.

GravatarThe republics mocking Obama on the community organizer thing is a slow pitch that's going to be smacked into the center field cheap seats.

The need for people like community organizers has undoubtedly increased exponentially due to the past 30 years of republicanism. Just point this out.

oh, i know that's what many of them FEEL. but it isn't what the campaign SAYS. and don't discount the great white burden of taking care of those poor ignorant savages, either. the official line is that local community non-gov't agencies are far more efficient than the inept gov't.

it's the contradiction to which i was referring, i realize that has nothing to do with how people vote.

GravatarI understand Alaska Independence Party is code in some circles for Aryan Nations. You can spot them by the 88 tatts they sport.

GravatarOK, Derbes, that speech from Biden was pretty good, and made me feel a little better.

Thing is, we ought to have another 20 prominent Democrats out there saying exactly the same thing. That way, there's a chance one might make it onto the Nightly News, which sucks but is still the source many people turn to.

I keep hearing that McCain wants to tax health insurance benefits people receive from their employers. That ought to be on billboards, newspaper ads, TV commercials, etc. basically 24/7. In my book, it kind of cuts into the whole "Obama will raise your taxes" canard.

I am not a hugely paid consultant, but I can look at the news and the facts and come up with a few things I think would work better than what I'm seeing now.

Tie it to Meals on Wheels and similar programs, which are the work of "community organizers". Or The Metropolitan Organization, a Catholic based group that works with local churches and community groups on community issues. Many people know these groups and like them, and don't think of them as "welfare".

Honestly, I think this ia a non-issue and a no-brainer. I don't think it reaches beyond the narrow GOP base.

GravatarI think the "Sarah Palin is a racist" story should be dropped, not because it is unprovable, but because it will only solidify her support with her base.
The Kenosha Kid

I think it should be dropped because there isn't enough meat there to change her image in the eyes of the swing voters, and there are better weaknesses to exploit.

Right now, the subconscious frame that Plain fits into is "nurturing salt-of-the-Earth supermom who took on the Old Boy Network", sort of like Erin Brockovitch. We need to erase that subconscious frame and replace it with "evil lying, scheming bitch", more like Sarah Michelle Gellar in Cruel Intentions.

Sexist strategy? Well, yes, sort of, but they're doing everything they can to put the "scary uppity nigger" frame around Obama, so there is really no alternative. The high road just won't work here.

"Russia has sold advanced weapons to the regimes in Syria and Iran. [And] some of the Russian weapons sold to Damascus have been channeled to terrorist fighters in Lebanon and Iraq."

More broadly, Russia's leaders are lapsing into "the discredited notion that any country can claim an exclusive zone of authority, to be held together by muscle and threats," Mr. Cheney said.

GravatarI don't think Palin is going to do a hat trick with "community organizers" in less than 60 days.

"Community organizer" is just code for scary black liberal/radical.

Almost every time you see someone on the news referred to as a community organizer, it is a black person who is angry about something (generally justifiably IMHO).

The underlying assumption is white-people-don't-need-no-community-organizing because they are the the true community, the true citizens -- everybody else (people of color) are just hangers-on and free-loaders and community organizers just needlessly stir them up. "Community organizer" is the new "outside agitator."

NEW YORK (Fortune) -- It took two months, but the bond market called Henry Paulson's bluff: The Treasury Secretary was widely expected this weekend to announce a plan to take Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac under government control.

News reports say the mortgage giants will be placed under a "conservatorship" of their new regulator, the Federal Housing Finance Agency. That would enable the government to gradually invest funds in the troubled mortgage giants.

Gravatar to you, too!

GravatarSexist strategy? Well, yes, sort of,

i'm not sure that it is. it's a debate strategy.

if your opponent puts forth an arguement ("she'd be a great president because she's a great mom") you have two ways to combat it.

1) there's no evidence that being a great mom would make a great president

or

2) no, she's a shitty mom.

either is valid.

GravatarWRT community organizing, bear in mind how very long these people fought against feeding dependent children, which was known as "welfare".

True. Welfare really gets a lot of people pissed.

However, now that the whole country is in the shitter as a direct result of republic policies and many more people are staring into an economic abyss, I think the attitudes toward assisting people in need are different.

GravatarAlmost every time you see someone on the news referred to as a community organizer, it is a black person who is angry about something (generally justifiably IMHO).

GravatarGood morning, all.

I have a couple of questions about the earlier post.

At the Open Left post Bowers says all members of both parties regularly decry big government, but I haven't heard that theme from Obama. Good government is what I've heard him talke about, but particular reference to size.

Does anyone know that he's been cashing in on the big government buggaboo? Maybe I've missed it.

And why does the preferred stock get protected while the common stock holders go into the tank.

I get guaranteeing debt, I guess, but can't the weight be born by stockholders mores equitably?

"Spoon River Anthology" and "Winesburg, Ohio" killed it in the early 20th century. "Sex and the City" made NY much more attractive than Topeka, at least to my daughter's generation (i.e., the ones voting for Obama).

There's always a myth of the "American West." But it's appeal waxes and wanes, too.

Gravatar"Almost every time you see someone on the news referred to as a community organizer, it is a black person who is angry about something"

anyone from Philadelphia will know the name ramona africa. For those who don't, she was the lone adult survivor of the Move bombing.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MOVE

I once by chance got to spend time with ramona. on TV she is as angry as anyone you'll ever see. In person she is as warm and welcoming a person as I've ever met.

I told her you know I'm kind of surprised that you are not angry. I've only ever seen you angry.

she gently reminded me they only ever put her on the tv when there's something they want to talk about that she is angry about.

(lesson learned)

GravatarIt is indisputable that Bush failed to meet his national guard obligations and stopped flying for some reason he has worked hard to hide. But despite the highly documented facts, the Pukes were able to get Rather fired through a nasty trick.

It is NOT indisputible, because they were able to get all the official records scrubbed by their insider cronies. Then they offered a fake "proof" as bait. A very good object lesson, that. Incontrovertible means either that she is on tape saying or doing whatever it is, or that the actions involved are a part of the public record that cannot be dissapeared. Fortunately for us, her ability to dissapear stuff from her past in Alaska is not nearly what Dim Sin's was wrt Texas, because she apparently has many enemies there in positions of power.

Guy was just a clerk, not the owner.

The sarcastic response would be "I didn't realize that clerks in this store made over $250K per year." There's probably a gentler way of telling the guy that most likely his taxes would be cut in an Obama administration, but his health benefits (if he had any) would be taxed in a McCain administration.

GravatarMcCain sez he will appoint Democrats to his cabinet. Such loyal Dems like Joe Lieberman and Bob Kerrey.

thanks.

Gravatarmccain telling the lie to nowhere again.

Gravatar.WTF, it looks like Ike will hit New Orleans as a big one.

The current track forecast certainly looks that way, but it's been advancing steadily leftwad over the last few days of model runs, and if it goes any further it will run aground traversing Cuba the long way, usually a fatal encounter for hurricanes. If the curent track stabilizes, though, it could well split the uprights and make it to the Gulf as a whopper storm. I'd say the chances of that are still south of 50% at this point, but by no means trivial.

Gravatari may not be cute, but i am owed a coke.

Gravatarhow are the fairies enjoying their first weekend break?
dirk gently,sociopathetic

they've already watched a movie and are now playing happily in the next room.

Gravatarbut he forgot to chant "U.S.A!"

TexasFuckKnob was sneering at the DNC when the people were shouting "Obama" as proof that Dems are traitors because the republics were shouting USA.

I shit thee not.

GravatarSo let me get this straight. America is one heart beat away from electing an aged man who is one melanoma away from death. Which will put a Neo-Nazi family in charge of American. So why exactly did your uncles and grandparents sacrific so much to defeat Nazism? Beats the living fuck out of me.

GravatarI think I'm cute.

GravatarIt is NOT indisputible, because they were able to get all the official records scrubbed by their insider cronies.

All it would have taken was a couple of prominent Dems on the news saying, "I have no opinion about Rather, but why is it that not a single person can be found to explain why Bush stopped flying or who he served with in Alabama?"

No matter what you have, they will create a mcguffin and try to turn the debate into one about that.
