GravatarFrom below:

The most disturbing aspect of this tsunami in a tsell phone is that it's only a matter of time before some Forbidden Image(s) is circulated among schools in the tri-state area.

And then I will be subjected to local news coverage, possibly Team Coverage, featuring pearl-clutching anchorpersons throwing the coverage to an intrepid correspondent standing in the cold outside some school and breathlessly (un)covering the shocking scandal. (Usually in the dark, since even the 5:00AM newscast demands that Intrepid Correspondents broadcast from the Scene of the Outrage, even if the news crew is the only one occupying the dark parking lot in the pre-dawn hour.)

And there will doubtless be ancillary clips of offended parents in shrill transports of righteous shock and outrage, railing against the authorities for 1.) failing to prevent the catastrophe, and 2.) failing to take immediate decisive and corrective action to prevent future occurrences.

I wouldn't be surprised if the producers dragged in Exclusive Interviews with local politicians, religious leaders, and of course "expert" psychologists.

Talk about wanton public obscenity...

Heh. My parents used to call that a "Norge", as an ode to the appliance that was often serviced (and something to do with a very early SNL bit, IIRC).

GravatarErich Kaestner, 107; believed to be Germany's last World War I veteran
From the Associated Press
January 26, 2008
Erich Kaestner, a soldier believed to have been Germany's last World War I veteran, died Jan. 1 at a nursing home in Cologne at the age of 107, his son said Friday.
When France's next-to-last surviving veteran from World War I, Louis de Cazenave, 110, died Jan. 20, the news made international headlines.
But in Germany -- which lost both world wars and has had to cope with the shame of the Nazi genocide for more than six decades -- there is not even an organization keeping track of the remaining veterans.
"That is the way history has developed," Kaestner's son, Peter, said in a telephone interview. "In Germany, in this respect, these things are kept quiet -- they're not a big deal."
The news did not even trickle out into the German media until this week, and the articles were more about how Germans remember than about Kaestner's death.
"The losers hide themselves in a state of self-pity and self-denial that they happily try to mitigate by forgetting," the daily Die Welt wrote Friday in its obituary of Kaestner.
Der Spiegel magazine noted that "the German public was within a hair's breadth of never learning of the end of an era" until someone who had read Kaestner's death notice in a newspaper figured out who he was and updated a Wikipedia entry on the Internet.
Kaestner was born in 1900, and had just graduated from high school in 1918 when he entered the army, his son said.
After training, he was sent to the Western Front to fight in France, but was never sent to the front lines, he said.
For Kaestner, his service during the war, in which more than 2 million German soldiers were killed, was only a small part of his long life, his son said.
"He was just a soldier for a quarter to a half a year," his son said.
Kaestner rejoined the military in 1939 with the outbreak of World War II, serving as a first lieutenant in ground support for the Luftwaffe, primarily in France.
After the end of the war in 1945, Kaestner became a judge in Hanover.
For his work as a jurist, he received Lower Saxony's Merit Cross, 1st Class. Kaestner also was honored by Germany's president for his 75-year marriage to his wife, Maria, shortly before her death in 2003 at age 102.
Though Die Welt, Der Spiegel and the local publication Hannoversche Allgemeine Zeitung all said Kaestner was the last German veteran of World War I, it was not possible to confirm that status directly.
The Defense Ministry said the German military, the Bundeswehr, "has no information available concerning World War I veterans."
The Federal Military Archive and the German War Graves Commission said they had no records on possible other surviving soldiers from the war.
"With the death of Erich Kaestner, no more Germans can talk about firsthand experiences" in the war, Der Spiegel wrote. "We have lost a chance -- forever."

You cannot attack the 'problem' by attacking cell phone sales, because that would be regulation of the Freee Market. Nor can you allow the 'problem' for that reason, because that would be intellectual consistency.

No, the oly possible solution is to insist that teens are utter innocents with no sexual impulses. Which is, coinicdentally, how the High Victorians treated female sexuality - "Happily, the vast majority of women are untroubled by any sexual feelings whatsoever."

Conservatives aren't conservative with money, no; but sex hasn't changed for them since Paul told them not to do that, it's nasty.

the wonders of divisive rhetoric. it works every time.  Call a person a racist or sexist and legitimate discussion and criticism is shut down. That's what the Bushistas did in the run up to the war.
If you were with them you were a patriot if you weren't then a traitor. no middle ground and NO discussion.  I really wish that Democrats coud stop falling into the Rethug rhetorical traps that are set and  even more so, quit setting them for each other.

My understanding from the link is that the sex video was possibly taken without the subject's consent or knowledge.

But really, why would one feel the need to share? Does "get a room" no longer mean anything?

It's not the sex have issue with, it's the publicity. This girl, consenting to the video or not, is probably going to find certain carreer paths closed to her. That's a problem of the patriarchy, granted, but she has to live in it.

Juvenile criminal records are sealed when you become an adult. Google, on the other hand, remembers. There is not much leeway for youthful indiscretions any more.

That's why I dropped it.

GravatarHillary was on the Walmart board and worked to bring about more fairness for hiring and promotion of women while on the board. Not much success, but pushed the issues.

GravatarWell, at least the Mark Penn hiring makes more sense now.

GravatarCan you give me many, many more details of what Clinton and Monica did?

I want to be sure I recognize the criminal act between two consenting adults the next time I see or hear about it.

Isn't it going to be fun to get to rehash the whole 'criminal' vs. 'character' Clinton conundrum?

Lying to your wife and sending her out to cry 'Conspiracy!' isn't criminal, but does demonstrate the status of your character, or lack thereof.

The fact that (a) it was in the Oval Office, and (b) the use of Vernon Jordan to get the young female a cushy job to shut her up?

Again, speaks to character.

However, an adult lying about consensual adultery under oath to a grand jury is criminal.

No?

GravatarI think Simels is just upset that Monica looks better in a beret than he does.

Coward.

Like I said, it's not unprecedented or potentially troubling that the next president of the United States might be married to an ex-president. No possible downside whatsoever. Especially given the history of the two people involved. Nothing to see here, just keep moving.
steve simels | Homepage | 01.26.08 - 11:41 am | #

Of course it's unprecedented. This is the first time we even have a legit female contender for the top spot. Coincidentally, she's married to the only modern president to impeached who was also the most popular modern president. What of it?

You keep tap dancing around the gender issues, steve. Yes, there were plenty of mistakes in the 90s, but it was a far better time than what we are living today, and the intelligence and competence that HILLARY will bring to the table will be a far sight better than the current situation.

Now focus on the fucking candidate you want, and tell us why you like him. We get you don't like Hillary, or Bill. Got the memo and all the cover sheets.

Apologies all around, and I'll tell ql that next time I see her.

GravatarJR, kerosene and a match

Sorry to walk away from this abruptly, but family matters intervened. I am all for the idea of "protecting" 12-year old girls from porn to the extent that I believe that sending them unsolicited images of sex acts should be regarded as some sort of an actionable tort.

Heaven knows, if for no other reason than that it would cut down on the amount of that sort of stuff that I get sent, I would be all for it.

As to protecting them from things that they might go and look seek out for themselves, that is a pointless battle.

And as to not corrupting their understanding of sexuality with commercially produced images, the key to that is having an open discussion with them about the matter and supporting their self-esteem to the extent that they will neither get the wrong ideas about sex nor get their egos all tweaked out over seeing the images.

Gravatar
Molly, you sure know how to keep idle hands occupied.

I think you're right, and I think that's a good thing.

One of the benefits of our lousy press is that they have been so eager to sell their products that they have really lowered the censorship bar. The time is not far off when the American attitudes toward sex and nudity will not be much different than northern Europeans' or Japanese, which seems to me far healthier.

GravatarYoung people now have much different senses of boundaries, at least in my observation. I wouldn't count on a dirty video locking anyone out of anything.

Don't insult Al Gore, who has been right on every issue, from the war to single payor health insurance to gay marriage to the environment. Seriously. Hillary has some seriously flawed positions. Evidence: war votes. Health care plan involves the insurance companies too much. She won't offer a definitive advocacy of equality for gays (a biggie for me, as you know). I think she'd be okay on the environment, but her ties to lobbyists are not helpful to create wholesale change, which is what we desperately need. Call me an idealist, I don't care. It is totally creepy to ride the Tokyo subway and where be-suited business guys are standing there reading comic books with grisly images of frightened little girls in bondage. On the other hand, the society is incredibly safe.

GravatarYou'd defend a man but not a woman?

Jesus H fucking christ, that's not what the man is saying at all.

Income disparity increased.

Is there a point at which that is no longer a viable path? I mean, it's bad; we know that. But I think we're reaching the tipping point at which the disparity is affecting huge swaths of the economy.

But I may just be oversensitive, since we're putting $500 every three weeks into the oil tank.

GravatarBut I agree that misogyny is bad.
Halfdan

Well, otherwise Hecate would turn you into a newt.

The thing is that I'm all for regarding nudity and sex as no big deal, but I see pornography as doing the opposite... making it a fetish.

Pornography has associated itself with sex, it's like people think that you can't have one without the other. So all nudity becomes porn, all sex becomes porn.

I don't see that as a good thing.

But if you question porn, you must be a prude....(this is a general observation, not directed at anyone here)

GravatarYet you appear compelled to trash her at every opportunity.

I think her presidency will be a disaster. But I can't say that because that's trashing her? Trashing is now defined as saying something that bugs somebody else?

You don't seem to realize many of the things you say reflect a sexist attitude.

Really? A specific example would be nice. Beyond the That Woman thing, which I've already mea culpaed.

I would argue that you are projecting something onto "people" that's not necessarily there. Some people obviously like sharing sexual pictures or videos of themselves, but I'd argue that most do not. I just think it's a matter of personal preference, and as long as everything's consensual, I don't have a problem with it.

Well, I don't buy that, but what the fuck do I know.

GravatarI'll even give you positives about Hillary, Gomez:

1. First woman president; groundbreaking, unprecedented. I can dig.

2. She's v. smart. He proposals (although I don't agree with them because they're not progressive enough for my taste) are substantive.

3. She'd surround herself with solid, capable people.

4. I think she's sincere about undoing the damage Bush has done.

5. Supreme Court; I think she'd appoint judges who are further to the left than many anticipate.

6. She strikes me as hardworking, earnest, and ambitious.

Gravatar
Ouch!

Yep. Pretty grim.

GravatarThe thing is that I'm all for regarding nudity and sex as no big deal, but I see pornography as doing the opposite... making it a fetish.

Again I agree. But also many countries where sexual images of women are much more commonplace are also less misogynistic as a whole than is the US.

GravatarIf a Democrat gets into the WH there will years of relentless attacks and allegations. It doesn't matter which candidate wins

Don't want to ignite a shitstorm here with the Clinton/Obama crowd (I favor Edwards), but will a positive, unifier strategy be enough to abort the Republican smear machine? Of course, they'll still try, but will a firm, we're not going there position halt the MSM's obsession with all things nasty?

Plus does Obama have the stones to stand up to it. At least initially he tangled with Hillary re Reagan etc but now seems to have gotten back to his unity theme, one that still sounds naive to me but obviously resonates with alot of voters.

GravatarPornography has associated itself with sex, it's like people think that you can't have one without the other. So all nudity becomes porn, all sex becomes porn.

As long as people get turned on by watching one another have sex, there will be pornography. Successfully mitigating against what you see as its corrosive effect on a healthy attitude towards sexuality is going to about talking to your kids a lot more than it will be about suppessing the distribution of the material. It's just like dope in that way.

GravatarShe'll move us toward universal health care.

Dude, we need to do more than "move toward." Seriously. Health care reform must come sooner, much sooner, than later. We are at the brink of major health care crisis in this country, and Hillary's plan doesn't do enough to deter that fact.

As I mentioned to you, the CMO of my company just authored a paper on the fact that the number one trend in health care is the end, as we know it, of employer-paid health insurance. It's pretty serious, in my mind's eye, when an employee goes from excellent coverage down to paying a monthly fee of $ 400 - $ 800 for health care, with reduced benefits (such as $ 2,500 out of pocket for hospital care per person, etc.). I could go on and on, but I can give you factual and anecdotal evidence that this is a problem that looms large over the next president. Moving toward isn't good enough.

On the one hand, they are obviously necessary; on the other, nothing magical happens when a girl turns 18 to make her more responsible than she was the day before.

GravatarI am amused in a sardonic way by the idea that the Clintons mentioning that Obama is black somehow has the effect of diminishing his support as though the voters were unaware of that about Obama until it was mentioned, and upon learning this will immediately support someone else.

Many people are more than happy to vote for a black man, as long as he's not bringing all his black friends with him. The "Obama is black" thing reinforces Obama's connections with all the black things that so many white voters have rejected (the NAACP, people talking about racism all the time, Jesse Jackson, etc.).

GravatarIf only Hillary would have dropped out after Iowa like marshall told her to we would be having these problems.

GravatarAt this point, it's almost more important to find a president and/or a Congressional majority who's willing to take on corporate monopolies than it is to take on the Republicans.

euphronius

Moi aussi, but for the moment, for better or worse, and almost by default, it comes from the White House, as Reid and Pelosi have demonstrated over and over again. Hell, the Democrats are cooperating more with Bush than they ever did with Clinton.

Anyway....the President leads by default, and the sentiment that we need someone who will lead, not just jawbone about lovely ideas (Obama) or proclaim himself the embodiment of all Broder holds dear ("a uniter, not a divider"), is, IMHO, exactly right. Bush is leading now; but in entirely the wrong direction. OTOH, he's doing what he did in Texas, only with the power of the POTUS, so why is anyone just now surprised? (900+ lies? No shit, Sherlock!)

We need someone who knows what they're going to do on Day 1, and someone with whom we agree about that direction.

GravatarLuckily, all is well in Afghanistan.

At least nine Afghan police officers and a civilian were killed early Thursday in a firefight between American forces and the officers in Ghazni Province, just south of the capital, local officials said.

The American forces were searching houses in a village on the outskirts of Ghazni town and blew open the gates of a house, according to local Afghan officials. District police officers heard the explosion and rushed to the scene, suspecting that the Taliban were in the area, but were themselves mistaken for Taliban and shot by the American soldiers, the officials said. Aircraft supporting the operation fired on one of the police cars.

The killings set off protests in the town on Thursday afternoon, and demonstrators blocked the main highway and prevented a government delegation from reaching the town from a nearby airfield, local officials said.

“Another big cruelty was made by American forces this morning,” said Khial Muhammad Hussaini, a member of Parliament from the province who was among the elders and legislators who had traveled to the town to try to calm people and persuade them to reopen the highway.

They are blatantly unconstitutional if the Supreme Court so rules (the legal standard for "unconstitutional" is, under our legal system, theirs to declare).

So, rejecting the premise, the statement is unfounded. There is a legitimate social purpose in protecting minors from exploitation. Hence, they cannot be held to most contracts; their interests must be protected in divorce and custody battles; child abuse is illegal, even by parents; child labor can be strictly controlled, and even outlawed; and pornography involving "underage" (a term set by law) persons can be illegal.

I want a leader. Our current congress has proven to be ineffectual. The people in this country aren't informed enough to realize that their votes can prompt wholesale change with shifts in the Senate and in the House, unfortunately, and the folks who work tirelessly at the grassroots level are marginalized. I know, at least here in Michigan, I feel completely left out of the process this year...

Yet I vote, I am on a first name basis with my local state rep and talk to him about local issues for change, etc. It's a slow-moving beast, the political process.

Less understanding than social custom, again. Child labor wasn't banned in this country until after TR's administration. He refused to meet Mother Jones and her Children's Crusade, but she ultimately prevailed in Congress (after TR, IIRC, but I could be wrong). And "teenager" was almost augmented about a decade ago with "tweens," which was less about "self-understanding" than it was about marketing, because such persons were identified by what they bought in the marketplace (goods, records, movies, DVD's, iPods, etc.) than by a new theory of psychology.

Basically, the whole concept of "teenager" didn't exist until the 50s and early 60s. Before then, the idea of being young was to practice emulating your elders. All that changed when an entire generation suddenly had disposable income.

In Japan, too, there are hopes for American renewal. “Already the fixed idea, ‘Only a white man can become president,’ has been broken,” the newspaper Mainichi Shimbun said Jan. 15. “We are witnessing the history, the process of grass-roots democracy turning into the U.S. strength.”

I'd asked earlier who/where the young grad student was who being sentenced to death for downloading un-Islamic articles. This may be it--not sentenced, just religious leaders demanding death sentence. ChiDy around? Is this what KO mentioned last night? Does he read Correntewire.com?

Anyway, she posted this:

Reporters Without Borders is very worried about the pressure being placed on the authorities by conservative religious leaders in the case of Sayed Perwiz Kambakhsh, a young journalist in the northern province of Balkh [Afghanistan] who has been detained since late October on charges of blasphemy and defaming Islam. The Council of Mullahs says he should be
sentenced to death.

“The calls for the death penalty for Kambakhsh highlight the growing influence of fundamentalist groups on intellectual debate,” the organisation
said. “The blasphemy charges are an ill-disguised attempt to hide the desire of the local authorities to restrict press freedom.”

A reporter for the newspaper Jahan-e Naw (“The New World”) and ajournalism student at Balkh university, Kambakhsh, 23, was arrested on
27 October. Articles on the role of women in Muslim society were found at his home.

http://www.cnw.ca/fr/releases/ar...8/17/ c9821.html

Reporters Without Borders is also very concerned about Ghows Zalmay, a
former journalist and attorney-general's spokesman, who is being held for publishing a translation of the Koran into Dari. He was arrested in early November after conservative religious leaders said the translation was "un-Islamic" and misinterpreted verses about adultery and begging.

Awwwh. That makes me sad. My dad's favorite show of all time. He'd watch it and laugh until he'd cry. Today is the first anniversary of his death.

I woke up this morning and read the paper. I followed a front page story to page 2, and I did a double take. At the bottom of the page, there was a color pic of my dad and an "in memorium" that, apparently, my sister did. She didn't list a name, but she's kind of showy like that. That must have cost a fortune (I work with the paper in my job, and I know what 8th page color ads cost...). Normally, "in memoriums" are found in the Obit section...

Ironically, my dad would roll over in his ashes. He did not like fanfare...

back at ya! Sure you can handle me? My appetite is...

Donna Douglas ... man o man.

GravatarI'd love to play but need to clean the litter box and keep an eye on the primary. I just hate it when MSM does numbers like the NH one. You'd think that two precints would have netted Edwards at least two votes, but whatever. They are the GODS of polls.

GravatarYou mean the moron cokehead drunken deserter with the tiny penis?

I thank Mr. Simels for using the correct term in describing the drunken petulant three-year-old's status with the military.

GravatarOur future if assholes like Pat Robertson have their way.

And who among us does not look forward to the House Un-Christian Activities Committee?

GravatarIn real life, I think she was after Ellie May...

I loved Miss Jane...

[droopy dawg] Yes, mistress... [/droopy dawg]

GravatarDonna Douglas was great, but I always had a yen for Alan Young's wife on MR ED.

GravatarHokey smokes! Someone at Orange Satan has apparently remembered who the real enemy is!

Troll rate him! TROLL RATE HIM!!!

GravatarI guess you'll have to use some of'em more than once?....

I tried that...but the more I looked at those letters strung together the more I saw people in positions DOING IT!

pregnant "d", busty "p" and don't get me started on "k" *shudder*

steve simels

Huh. I don't even remember her.

What a load of bodacious TV babes in the 60s -- Donna Douglas, Julie Newmar, Melody Patterson, Elizabeth Montgomery, Barbara Eden, Barbara Feldon....

GravatarDonna Douglas was great, but I always had a yen for Alan Young's wife on MR ED.

She was stacked, and had beautiful eyes. And was very understanding that her husband chose a horse over her.

Gravatarwhy do drooling mouth breathers post their hate here? what's the point? to show off it's hate? is it proud of hate? where in the story about jeebus is hate of anything or anyone advocated?

we don't need proof that are people so stupid as to think violating the constitution and torture and murder and emptying the US treasury are out there - the polls tell us 31% of the people in the excited states are exactly that - welcome to the Chinese century

Nuts! seriously | 01.26.08 - 1:28 pm | #

It's not china, it's Saudi. The Bush base likes theocracy, subservience to oil power, terrorism, misogyny, rule of super rich scumballs, and torture - the Saudi Arabian recipe.

GravatarBack to cuneiform!

Cuneiform? That's the alphabet made up entirely of golf ball tees right?

GravatarDon't fear the "k"...

I loved Mr. Ed. I always wanted a horse that would talk to me after sex.

GravatarThe recurring theme with the B&W 60's sitcoms, was that the husbands were bumbling and inattentive, and the wives were scorching hot.

WTF?

GravatarThe recurring theme with the B&W 60's sitcoms, was that the husbands were bumbling and inattentive, and the wives were scorching hot.

Nowadays the husbands are just as bumbling, but the wives are not quite so hot. Misogyny!

GravatarSpeaking of Julie Newmar, I sure wish someone would put "My Living Doll" out on DVD.

With Bob Cummings. And speaking of Bob Cummings, I saw him in a second season "Twilight Zone" recently where he played a WWII pilot downed in the Sahara that was having a nervous breakdown.

He was fucking EXCELLENT!

Sorry, I can't get past the first three letters in "cuneiform" without jumping the tracks, never mind the ultimate assonance with "Maidenform".

And even recognizing the, er, assonance is disqualifying.

Even binary systems won't work-- too much like hot dogs and doughnuts chasing each other through the Lincoln Tunnel.

Vicki, I will take a raincheck, though, as I plan to sign up.
Vicki,

excellent

GravatarI'm not a huge fan of I Love Lucy, but from a 21st century perspective it's kind of refreshing how much of an equal-opportunity bumbler that show was.

Should be most fun.

GravatarGreen Acres was absurdism; very funny.

GravatarI don't know how many times I watched a busty Eva Gabor, wearing flimsy lingerie, getting shit from Eddie Albert, cuz the morning flapjacks weren't cooked properly.

What was great about that show is the character who didn't want to be on the farm was the one who fit into the melange of Greater Hooterville so perfectly.

GravatarI'll stick with what works.

So you do want Bill back in the WH? you'll have to take Hillary, then.

Hehehehe!

GravatarNaptime. I'm all alone on a cold Saturday afternoon with nothing to do other than write a blog post about why Al Gore's pr-gay marriage stance is good for families, and I can't think of a better way to refresh my aching bones than by taking a nice long nap under fresh sheets. It'll make my blog post zing.

Zzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

Have a nice day.

Gravatarqlª:

I don't know if you missed this earlier, but I owe you a big mea culpa.

Believe it or not, until this afternoon it had never occurred to me that my use of the phrase That Woman about Hill could be taken as an echo of the the Lewinsky thing.

As far as I was concerned, it was just a phrase out of an old 30s drawing room farce by Noel Coward or somebody.

Really -- it never crossed my mind why it might be taken as offensive.

GravatarGreen Acres was beautifully written. When Mr. Douglas would harken patriotic, the fife and drum would play, and the other actors would say "Did you hear that?"

GravatarJeebus H. Christ, I start saying bad things about Hillary and suddenly NTodd's accusing me of being Russ Meyer.

Very depressing....

GravatarMy favorite was always Mr. Haney, though Mr. Kimble was a close second.

"you don't have a pore hole key"

GravatarAnd let's not overlook the glimpse of Billie Jo, Bobbie Jo, and Betty Jo hygienically frolicking in the water tank by the Hooterville Cannonball.

Like the lingerie section of the Sears catalog, it was a gateway drug.

GravatarReally -- it never crossed my mind why it might be taken as offensive.
steve simels

Actually, when I mentioned I was offended by it, you immediately stopped using it so need to apologize on that score. Or any other. As long as we keep to the issues and remember that we're all gonna have to live with the eventual candidate AND each other, no need to apologize for arguing.

GravatarOne episode, the opening credits were written on the eggs Lisa was sloppily breaking for Oliver's breakfast.

It was very creative.

GravatarVery depressing....
steve simels

Yeah, but I still love you.

GravatarSomeone at Orange Satan has apparently remembered who the real enemy is!

The DLC?

DINOs?

Triangulating assholes who can't keep their pants on or their lies straight?

GravatarI liked Mr. Ziffel too.

I remember one episode when he was standing on the porch with Lisa saying "I wish my wife looked that good in the morning......or in the evening.......or in the summer."

GravatarSomeone at Orange Satan has apparently remembered who the real enemy is!

GravatarMTP:

Sunday, Jan. 27
Exclusive!
Sen. John McCain

Two days before the crucial Florida Republican primary, Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) joins us live from Tampa to talk about his presidential campaign. Then, we will have insights and analysis on the race for the White House with Maureen Dowd of the New York Times, Chuck Todd of NBC News, and Byron York of the National Review.

Democrats or libs need not apply!

GravatarOkay here's a pitch for a sit-com. Cranky, aging hippie music critic discovers the feisty, lesbian, third-wave feminist daughter he never knew existed.

The only Democrat (though not a liberal) still in the race is Edwards, and he's not going to win.

So why bother?

You're going to bow to Princess Billary Bush & like it.

It was been decided.

I like it. And here's the kicker...instead of making the old man the straight man of the gig like everyone expects, he wins out over the schemes of the youngster maybe 80% of the time.

GravatarIf it's not overdone, I like camera takes in comedic movies, Like Eddie Murphy did in Trading Places, when Ralph Bellamy carefully explains that the futures market in orange juice involves what he has everyday for breakfast.
