Glenzilla:
As the Right comes to accept that their political movement lies in ruins -- as evidence of their rejection by the country becomes too compelling to ignore -- the desperation and frustration level increases and much of this rhetoric will become more extreme (note that Ingraham cited the President's low popularity ratings as a reason why he should ignore the Supreme Court's ruling; National Review's Andy McCarthy on Thursday suggested that in response to the Court's ruling, we should take all of the Guantanamo detainees and just slaughter them en masse). Having millions of citizens inculcated over many years with truly deranged, extremist tripe of this sort -- and Fox just announced that Ingraham would have her own show beginning next week -- obviously has consequences. We've seen just some of those over the last seven years, and the reaction is likely to intensify as that movement grows more impotent and marginalized.
He cites some other examples of really crazy shit some of these folks have been spouting the last few days, in particular.

If Thinly veiled is still here my deepest condolences. Regarding flights. When my dad was sick I needed to get a quick flight home. I actually found a very cheap flight to the Midwest via
hotwire.com Because there are only so many airlines that fly into the place I wanted to go, I KNEW who the flight was probably on (NorthWest or Delta) but because the deal with Hotwire is that they don't tell you the NAME of the airline they can offer close out tickets at a lower price.
I did the research and 'bereavement' fares aren't really much of a bargain these days.
Also let us know how we can help. I don't have much money, but I'd be happy to send you a "virtual casserole" (as Interrobang called it)

Thinly Veiled try Hotwired too. Compare. Also, sometimes when booking midweek to a smaller place you actually can get a better deal.
Lots of people gave me great advice dealing with death. People here and in person. I have just deep gratitude for thier support:
One piece from a Priest to help me coop.
"Grief comes in waves."
My own experience?
People want to help, ask them for things that are hard for you but easy for them because they are local, things like transportation, pickup at airports, get to town and around, Names of local people and merchants to work with regarding any kind of arrangements. "The best florist is..."(if you have to do that)
I was amazed at all the stuff in place with the Catholic Church, food set up for after the funeral, holy card printing, recording the eulogy, keeping an eye on the house during the funeral so that people would be there to accept flowers and more food.
One thing that was a going to be a huge deal was doing thank you notes and accepting donations for my Dad. I created a spreadsheet to track and categorize. My little IT skills helped organize the incoming and kept us busy and we were able to acknowledge the people who were so kind to us. My sisters were the ones with the actual good hand writing, but I had a way for us capture the actual info for thank you notes.
The addresses were all hand written for the thank you cards, but we had a easy to read print out of who all donated money, masses, flowers, food, meals, help etc.

Those early termination fees (ETFs) that consumers pay for switching cell phones in mid-contract are a great deal, an attorney for AT&T told the Federal Communications Commission yesterday.
I worked for a small telephone company that had dealings with a much larger one, the baby bell US West. For things like the physical wires the phone calls travel on.
Well, it seems the compnay signed a contract with US West for a number of services. Then US West sent bills that were far in excess of the contratural amounts stated.
So the small company eventually took US West to court, to enforce the contract.
US West's attorneys informed the court that their internal company policy trumped the contract they had signed with the little phone company.
The judge was not amused at this assertion.

Afghan official: 870 inmates escaped from prison
KANDAHAR, Afghanistan (AP) - U.S. and NATO troops aided Afghan forces with reconnaissance in a hunt Saturday for 870 inmates who escaped prison after a sophisticated Taliban assault that even NATO conceded was a success for the militants.
A roadside bomb, meanwhile, killed four U.S. Marines sent to southwestern Afghanistan to help train the country's fledgling police. The deadliest attack on American forces this year came one day after the U.S. defense secretary highlighted the fact that more American and allied troops were killed in Afghanistan than in Iraq last month.

Actually fuckwit, as I and others predicted in 2004, the re-selection of GWB would ultimately mean the end of the conservatards and the GOP. Good riddance to the fucking repuke criminals and their supporters.

From the media coverage, we have lost the world's last living saint.

Where do we look for the white smoke to announce his replacement?
Given that he was a tv pundit, his smoke will be accompanying the mirrors in the next broadcast of Press the Meat.
Now this person, 6th in line, might be capable of restoring Britain to it's former state of empire.

dccc just called and asked for money.
I told them to stop playing around with unemployment extension.
I love TPs for the November elections as much as the next guy, but we are talking about some real dangerous straights for people who need theunemployment extention money.
what a bunch of dickheads.

Well, I guess I should go shower. Can't be any good to anyone if I'm a dirty, smelly, blubbering mess. Thanks to all of you for being there today. I needed it. You're a great bunch, in case you didn't know that.

Why stop there? Run some old footage of Winston Burdette reporting from St. Peter's Square.

Anyone have any good walleye recipes?
Yeah...throw it in the garbage for five to ten minutes. Pull garbage bag out of can. Enjoy something else.
As for me, i'd love to have good things to do, but i just got off work and came home to find the family is out with good things to do. So, w/o them to want the intertubes, i get to come here, yay!
No doodleballs on Sam. But a closeup of his anus isn't exactly something I've been waiting for all these years. It's almost as bad as a closeup of Dick Cheney.

Srsly, last night I ended up in a thread at DKos where they were getting choked up about how will Keith cope with Timmeh's death!? OMG.
Much clutching of pearls. After listening to the dead Timmeh jokes here all evening, it was like a different planet.

About the only places that deliver here are Chinese (just barely adequate) and pizza (not adequate). So we've gone from ordering out 3-4 nights a week, to once or twice a month. In the process, we have both lost over 20 pounds. I do miss the Tex-Mex and Japanese, though.

i have cats; i have children. The cats were easier to housebreak, and to this day make less mess.
